Scroll lock on the log window...

Can the Jdev team make it so when the log window is not at the bottom it should not reset the scroll. So something like this...
if(scroll.y != scroll.height) { /*KEEP SCROLL POSITION!*/ }
I print a lot of debug code I guess in the log when testing my webapps, and I'll scroll up to review some debug. But there are some ajax updaters I have built into the web interface that pings back to the server causing more debug code to generate... and then jdev resets the scroll from where I'm at to the bottom.

Besides the dynamic log output, you can read the previously saved log contents when you open the text log file shown at the jdev log output.
The path to the log file is printed when the weblogic server starts:
<17 Νοε 2010 10:23:33 μμ EET> <Notice> <LoggingService> <BEA-320400> <The log file C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\logs\DefaultDomain.log will be rotated. Reopen the log file if tailing has stopped. This can happen on some platforms like Windows.>
<17 Νοε 2010 10:23:33 μμ EET> <Notice> <LoggingService> <BEA-320401> <The log file has been rotated to C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\logs\DefaultDomain.log00030. Log messages will continue to be logged in C:\Users\Nick\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\logs\DefaultDomain.log.>
You could also choose to save the log output to a file you define, by clicking on preferences>environment>log to select save logs to a file and define the path as you wish.

  • Xcode 3 - Where's the Log window?

    In Xcode 2 NSLog()Used to print text to a log panel. Now it doesn't. Where is the log window? I can't find it and a search of the help files doesn't produce any results. Also I can't find any menu item that would help. Generally I'm very confused by the big changes in the Xcode and Interface Builder GUIs. Most of the programming examples in my books are now FUBAR. Also the bookmarks in my browser to the Cocoa documentation are now invalid. What a bummer.

    Well, it's an all-new application, it can be disturbing indeed.
    However, your log window still exists, and its name never changed, it's called Console.
    So, look into the preferences --> Debugging, look at the "On start" local menu, select "Show console", when you'll build and go your App the console window will appear and display your logs.

  • Tip of the Day : Search within the log window

    hi
    Recently my JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.1) showed me a Tip of the Day about "Search within the log window", as shown in tip-of-the-day-search-log-window.png.
    It read : "You can search within any of the contents of log windows. Click within the text of the window and click Ctrl+F. A search window appears so that you can enter your search criteria."
    The tip also shows an image of a "Messages - Log" panel with a transparent "Search Messages Log" dialog on top.
    If I try this on the "Messages - Log" panel, I get the transparent dialog. But if I try this on the "Running: DefaultServer - Log", I don't get the transparent dialog (although search seams to be possible if I just start typing after pressing Ctrl+F).
    Not very consistent, or what exactly is the intended behaviour here?
    many thanks

    This seems to have improved in JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 (see also log-search2-select.png in the context of forum thread "11.1.1.2.0 : log search : no match found").

  • Scrolling issues within the browser window

    How do I stop my screen from being able to scroll all the way to the right once the site is published?
    Not sure If that explains it very well, I have just published my site using the business catalyst and everything displays correctly, the only problem I have is that the bottom horizontal scoll bar on the browser window allows me to scroll all the way of the page to the right?
    Hope this makes sense!
    Thanks
    Mark

    Could you please check if you have some object (may be transparent object) outside the pge on the right? It might either be on the page or on Master page.
    Could you please provide us the Website URL where you are facing the isue. It will help us understand the issue better.

  • Bookmarks opens in a window 2/3's the size of my screen since the latest update. Now the first bookmark I scroll over covers the whole window instead of too the side and I can't close it without closing the bookmarks window

    I kept getting a reminder I had a Firefox update I needed to install. I did last night but never opened Firefox again till this morning. Now when I click on bookmarks for the drop down it opens a window almost 2/3's the size of my screen instead of the narrow window it has in the past. Now as soon as I move my mouse over or close to any bookmark it opens up that bookmark in the window and I can't access the bookmark I want. I have to close the whole window and then be very careful as I move my mouse to the correct bookmark. In the past with the narrow window it opened the bookmarks to the side and only after you clicked on them. I have tried to resize the window but can't find any option to do so. Also couldn't find an option that would let me change it so a bookmark had to be clicked on. If this can't be changed I will be removing Firefox. This is too inconvenient for me.

    Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first  year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.
    Good luck.

    It's the issue of browser. There is no setting for it. most probably you are not using
    separateFrame=Truein you formweb.cfg file. It's allow the applet opening in another window.
    In you issue, may be you have toolbar visible in the browser. if you use the browser full screen you didn't get that.
    Hope this helps

  • HT3799 locked out at the log in window ?

    i have recently installed Maverick on my late 2010 MB Air that is locked at the log in window . I have tried to enter Disk Utility with r-cmd but end up on a grey screen with a Pad-Lock and a request for my firmware p/w is there a default p/w ?

    RockeyIV,
    no, there isn’t a default firmware password; the default is to have no firmware password. If your MacBook Air has a firmware password, then someone set it up that way.

  • Scrolling log window guff

    Hi,
    I've got an app that executes external processes, monitors the output of each, and puts it in a log window. The problem is, when I append to the contents of the JTextArea, I don't know how to set its preferred size correctly so that the JScrollPane knows how large the TextArea is. I tried using (textArea.getLineCount() * line height), but that doesn't work because word wrap creates more lines than getLineCount() reports -- instead of setting the JTextArea to the proper size, it's always too big or too small (depending on how many lines were wrapped). Here's my code:
    //check and update all the log windows.
    for(int i=0; i < logWindowUpdater.size(); i++)
         javax.swing.JFrame window = (javax.swing.JFrame)(logWindowUpdater.get(i));
         javax.swing.JScrollPane scroll = (javax.swing.JScrollPane)window.getContentPane().getComponent(0);
         javax.swing.JLabel bgImage = (javax.swing.JLabel)window.getContentPane().getComponent(1);
         javax.swing.JTextArea textArea = (javax.swing.JTextArea)scroll.getViewport().getView();
         java.lang.Process process = (java.lang.Process)buildProcessesVector.get(i);
         try
              String processOutput = new java.lang.String();
              while(process.getInputStream().available() > 0)
                   char readByte = (char)process.getInputStream().read();
                   processOutput += readByte;
              textArea.append(processOutput);
              //because of word wrap, this doesn't work correctly!
              textArea.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(560, textArea.getLineCount()*25));
              scroll.getVerticalScrollBar.setValue(scroll.getVerticalScrollBar.getMaximum());
         catch(java.lang.Exception e)
              e.printStackTrace();
    Surely there's a way to do this. It's just a simple, autoscrolling log window. Does anyone have suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jake

    The problem is that I can't properly set the size (or number of rows and columns) of the JTextArea. You see, it is dynamically updated with the output from a running process, which has some unknown number of lines. I can't set the size or rows/columns without knowing how many "lines" are in the process output, and I can't figure that out because word wrap creates some number of additional rows.
    Here's how I create the log window and add the JTextArea:
    private void createLogWindow(String title, java.lang.Process process)
         javax.swing.JFrame logWindow = new javax.swing.JFrame();
         logWindow.setSize(600, 400);
         javax.swing.JScrollPane logScroller = new javax.swing.JScrollPane();
         javax.swing.JTextArea textArea = new javax.swing.JTextArea();
         javax.swing.JLabel bgImage = new javax.swing.JLabel();
         logWindow.setTitle(title);
         textArea.setFont(new java.awt.Font("Monospaced", 0, 12));
         textArea.setLineWrap(true);
         textArea.setOpaque(false);
         textArea.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(560, 300));
         logScroller.setViewportView(textArea);
         logScroller.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(560,300));
         logWindow.getContentPane().add(logScroller);
         logWindow.setVisible(true);
         //add this log window to the vectors so it can be tracked and updated
         logWindowupdater.add(logWindow);
         buildProcessVector.add(process);
    }Does that make more sense?
    Jake

  • When opening a new window, any clicks within the new window click through to the original window so you can't scroll or save from the new window.

    Anytime that a new window is opened (such as when sending an email message or opening a pdf) I am unable to click on the new window. I can't click send or click on the scroll bars of the new window. If I attempt to click on the window it clicks on whatever is behind the window instead. If the new window opens with a cursor within it then I am able to type or scroll through with keyboard arrows, but cannot click or use the mouse scroll buttons. I also cannot choose items from drop down menus with the mouse (even in the original window). I must use the keyboard arrows to select any menu options.

  • Scroll bar obscures the bottom line in the iTunes window

    This is not a question, but an observation about a problem with the current implementation of the appearing/disappearing scroll bars in the iTunes window. Apple should have a left some exta space at the bottom so that the bottom item would not be obscurred by the scroll bar.

    Make your observation here and it might get changed:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Messages Log Window - occupy the whole width of the screen

    I accidentally "unpinned" my Messages Log Window and although I have managed to redock it, how do I get my Messages Log Window to now re-occupy the whole width of the screen and leave the System and Structure Windows only as Windows that do not occupy the whole width of the screen.

    Steven,
    It sounds like you have docked the Log Window on the left-hand side rather than the bottom.
    If you click and drag on the Log Window caption bar so that you are over the background area and then move your mouse towards the very top of the Status Bar you should see the Log Window expand to the full screen width that you want.
    Hope that helps,

  • Clip is not logged after pushing the log button on the capture window!!

    After entering all info I push the log button, the small log window opens and after pushing ok the logged clip does not appear on the browser at all.

    Hi -
    If you press the large oval Log Bin button, it will bring the bin forward so that it on top of the logging window.
    !http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/LoggingBinDestination.jpg!
    If you press it and still don't see a bin containing your clips, you may want to consider trashing your preferences -

  • How to scroll lock on a mac

    Looking to upgrade my mac and was wondering if the new mac book pros have the capability to scroll lock.  I need this feature for programs I use at home for work.  Thanks I know it's a silly question but it is not easy possible to do on my older macbook.

    cyndycapecod wrote:
    I can't scroll lock on my current MacBook now that is the problem.  I don't have a F14 key which seems to be the key people suggest to try or the F12 +alt+function.  I even purchased an external full keyboard hoping this would work but to no avail.
    The catch is that OSX will intercept the function keys and use them for itself.  Make sure you don't have anything using F14.  Either in System Preferences, or any other third party add-ons that give mouse or keyboard shortcuts or extras.
    Since Macs don't use Scroll Lock, this is why I mention it's up to the app to give you a scroll lock.
    ...I'd hate to purchase a PC to do work from home but I may have to.
    I'm not using "apps" I am logging in remotely from home to my work PC using GoToMyPC from there I can access any program that is on my work PC.
    Thanks
    In your case the "app" is GoToMyPC.  See if GoToMyPC has a option to "send key".  I use LogMeIn, which has a send ctrl-alt-del, but not send Scroll Lock.  Hopefully GoToMyPC does, which would be best in your situation.
    Otherwise there are only two ways I know of to do what you want from within OSX:
    Use Windows' onscreen keyboard on the office computer.  (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Accessibility.  Different versions of Windows may have it in slightly different locations.)  With a large screen on a desktop, this may be acceptable.  (On LogMeIn, I can have the host screen "fit" or zoomed in to my remote screen's size, which makes the onscreen keyboard usable for me.)
    Microsoft Remote Desktop.  The Mac app for Remote Desktop Connection (sometimes known as Remote Desktop Protocol or Terminal Services) has an option that you can map keys.  I verified that Scroll Lock is possible.  Due to the limited number of keys on the Macbooks, you'll have to find something that's not in use by either OSX or Windows.  (For example, in the test, I used Shift-F12 for Scroll Lock.)
    The catch with 2) is that you'll need to be able to configure port forwarding on your company's firewall, or preferably have a VPN.  While a VPN is more complex to setup, IMHO a VPN is necessary because of some vulnerabilities discovered with the older version of the protocol, which the Mac client still uses.
    The only other option would be not running OSX when connecting to the office.  Note, this does not necessarily mean getting a PC.  You could install Windows in Boot Camp.  You'd still have the problem of no actual Scroll Lock key on the Mac, but since OSX is not running, any full sized keyboard plugged into the Mac would then send the F14/Scroll Lock key correctly to the office computer.  (Or running Windows in a virtual machine, but there are limitations with that as well, although the VM is more convenient in that you don't have to boot "out of" OSX like you would with Boot Camp.)
