Scroll through pictures with 'gestures'

Is there a hand 'gesture' that i can do to easily flip through my pictures when in an event or album? I feel like i've tried all of the logical options, but so far, no such luck. With all of the gestures available w/ lion, i'd be shocked if none were applicable to scrolling through pictures.
Any ideas?

I am having the same problem. I have just installed Lion only to find out that the Std 2 finger swipe no longer worked in iphoto 7 so I upgraded to iphoto 9.5 (this is the recommended version to use with Lion) but I still have the same issues.
If any one has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Scrolling through pictures with Wacom tablet in Aperture

HI Guys,
Is anyone a bit of a whizz on Aperture. I'm using Aperture 3 with a Wacom tablet on a Mac Pro.
I'm set the touch wheel to scroll as I want to use it to cycle through photos. It works in the Browser View (all pics on the screen), but does nothing when I try to scroll in Split View. I have to use 2 fingers on the Magic Trackpad to get it to scroll along.
Has anyone had this issue, or does anyone know how to fix it?

... and so on. The radial menu is fast once you get used to it. And, imho, quite clever: I'd _much_ rather have context-sensitive radial menus than the silly stacked text menu we have now.

Why am I unable to scroll through bookmarks with mouse wheel anymore?

Used to be able to scroll through bookmarks with mouse wheel, now I am unable to. I have tried reinstalling firefox and disabling all addons but same problem. Please help!

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Scrolling through pictures... or NOT

I have just installed my new iMac with Leopart and iLife08.
I have restored all my pictures from a backup. When I looking at Events and dragging my mouse over an Event the pictures do not change. On my other MAC I can scroll through the pictures in a Event.
But I can not find a option to enable or disable this feature?
I hope someone know the answer ...

Try trash the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder and restart iPhoto. Then reset your user options.

Scroll through pictures fast

Hello - I am working on a slide show, and I would like to scroll through a set of pictures really fast! Besides cutting the pic to be as short as possible, which could take a lot of time with several pictures, isn't there a way to give a 'command' that will just scroll through them really quickly? I'm thinking it could be in the Time Remap section, but can't figure it out. It seems to be the same kind of effect that magazine shows use, like Entertainment Tonight/Access Hollywood. I'm not sure if this would apply to what you're doing, but you can set the duration of still frames in user preferences, which will affect any still frames imported afterwards; you could set this to as little as 1 frame, and then import your stills.

How can i flip through pictures using gestures in iPhone 2011

In the previous version of iPhoto, I could flip through my pictures within Events using the same gesture I'd use in Safari to go back and forth. Not sure if its the Mac OS Lion update or the iPhoto update to 2011, but I can't do that anymore. Can anyone help? Thanks

What application are you using? In iPhoto you can just use the right and left arrow keys to browse photos...

I just upgraded to OSX Mavericks and when i use the gestures on my magic track pad it responds oddly. Sometimes it won't recognize when my simple gesture of scrolling through a document.

Gestures is not working like it did before. The side to side, forward back swipe, is very picky. Sometimes it takes four or five tries before it works. And yes I know how to do it. I have had a magic trackpad for about one year. And was greatly pleased by how it worked, BEFORE Mavericks. It has has indeed changed.

Album scrolling through photo's

Hi all. Sorry if this question is listed elsewhere. I sifted through the lists but could not find any details.
I have a new Sony Z3 compact and when I am in the Album app the screen at the top scrolls through pictures that are stored on my phone. Is there any way to stop this or do I simply use the Photo app for all viewing ?

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
This can be done, however you would need to create a folder that was named .nomedia.
Once this has been done, simply put the pictures in this folder, they should no longer show in the album.

When scrolling through IPhoto, others photos displayed?

Recently I had a number of problems where I had to get a new hard drive and restore everything.
The hard drive was replaced after I brough my MacBook Pro to Apple regarding a problem with my slideshows. The music, and sometime the pictures, were skipping and/or pausing for various lengths. I had tried repair data without success.
The tech felt the hard drive was having problems so it was replaced.
After a full restore the slideshows were a little better in that only the music skipped or paused. I checks the music source and it was all fine.
So we went back to Apply and our only choice was a Rebuild Database (was reluctant to do this because I thought I might loose all me projects like slideshows and albums.) Well, the Rebuild worked and the slideshows seem fine.
However, now whenever I scroll through pictures, photos from everywhere show up for a split second before changing to the correct photos. In slideshows the stream of photos accross the top are all random from the IPhoto data base. When I select one of them, the correct photo is displayed.
It doesn't seem to affect the slideshow but makes it difficult when editing.
Any ideas?   I am using IPhoto 11 p.3.2 and I have installed the latest update.

I have tried, several times, to rebuild my thumbnails. However. after progressing to a little over half way I keep getting the following message:
The volume for “DSC_3556.JPG” cannot be found.
Insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again.
With the options - CANCEL            FIND PHOTO     TRY AGAIN
Find Photo does not give me any possibilities and Try Again doesn't work. So I keep hitting cancel. Each time I hit Cancel and a new "Volume for..." comes up.   I have spent hours hitting Cancel and although the Progress Bar moves a bit, it never ends and usually crashes.
I try again and it appears that the same volume I cancelled the first and second tries appear again.
I also noticed that every time I open an event there is a mish mash of pictures with only a few that belong there. Howver, when I click on them, the right photo appears.
This is a real mess.

Can't scroll through PDF in an inactive window/can't email from Chrome

I've been using the built-in Chrome PDF viewer up to this point. I changed over to the Adobe Viewer plugin because it allows me to email the PDF directly from the browser window/tab while the Chrome viewer does not. However, it seems I've traded one feature for another... With the Chrome PDF viewer, I could move the tab containing the PDF into its own window on a separate screen, click on a text field in another window, put the cursor back on the PDF (without clicking) and scroll through it with the mouse wheel while SIMULTANEOUSLY typing in a text field in the original Chrome tab. Basically, the cursor just sits on the PDF window, scroll when I need to and I type in another window. However, when I activate the Adobe Reader plugin, I can no longer do this; I have to click on the PDF within the new Chrome tab, scroll, then click on the text field on the other Chrome field. It may not sound like a big deal, but I am sifting through literally thousands of documents a day looking for specific information then documenting that information on another screen, so being able to type and scroll without the constant back-and-forth clicking is extremely helpful. I've tried dozens of seemingly related options in Adobe Reader, but I cannot find any combination of settings in Documents, General, Page Display or Internet that yield the desired result.
The flip side of my dilemma, as hinted in the beginning, is that I need the ability to email PDFs directly from the browser without saving it to the computer (i.e., the email icon on the Reader toolbar opens an Outlook email window). As best as I can tell, there is no way to do that with the built-in Chrome PDF viewer and thus I switched to the Adobe Reader.
Ultimately, I don't care whether I wind up with Reader that allows the scrolling functions that I desire or Chrome Viewer that allows me to email, though I'd prefer to just stick with the Chrome PDF viewer if that's possible.
Help and suggestions are appreciated!

I'll try to clarify the problem.
On screen one I have a Chrome window open with data fields and a list of links that take me to PDFs. On screen two I have another Chrome window open; when I click on the PDF links on screen one, the PDF opens on screen two. (1) I move the cursor to one of the text fields on screen one and start typing. (2) I then move the cursor (without clicking) over to screen two and using the mouse wheel, scroll down in the document. (3) Next, I continue typing in the text field on screen one - again, my cursor is still on screen two, having just scrolled down. (4) I'll then scroll some more and (5) continue typing in the text field on screen 1, open a new PDF and repeat. Again, the issue Adobe Reader plugin causes is that it creates extra steps between 1 & 2 (I have to click on the PDF to scroll), 2 & 3 (I have to move the cursor back to screen one and click in the text field), 3 & 4 (I have to move the cursor back to the PDF and click again to scroll), etc. etc.

My mouse wheel won't scroll through tabs

I can't remember if it was right when I updated to v.22, but if not then it was shortly after that my mouse wheel stopped working for scrolling through tabs. I can still scroll through pages just fine, but even on safe mode and with hardware acceleration disabled, if I put my cursor over tabs and scroll, nothing happens.

note that to scroll through tabs with mouse wheel, you can position the mouse cursor, between the two arrows at each end, of the row of tabs. That means that you have quite a few tabs to see the arrows at each end.

Are you watching this content though iCloud or though from iTunes on your local computer? If it is from iCloud have you tried downloading the content to iTunes and watching it on ATV from that source to see if it still happens? This is geerally a much more reliable way to view the content. Easer to fast forward and rewind too.

Have you checked your wireless rounter? Tried doing the factory restor on it? Upgrading it's firmware? Is it and or ATV getting extreamly hot when this problme happens?

Set iPad to only scroll through a limit amount of pictures and disable all other apps

Hi there, is it possible to setup an iPad to only allow users to scroll through 3 or 4 pages, and have all other features disabled? This will be for a customer display so that people can only view these 3 or 4 pictures and not to be able to use the iPad for any other purpose, i.e access the internet, to tie down the iPad, so to speak. You can currently have the 'picture frame' icon on the slide to unlock screen via Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Picture Frame 'on', and you can limit which of your photo albums show in that via Settings > Picture Frame. Though you can't stop people trying to exit the picture frame and trying to enter the passcode.
With iOS 6 later today there will be new accessibility functions which might help (from here) :
It allows a parent, teacher, or administrator to limit an iOS device to one app by disabling the Home button, as well as restrict touch input on certain areas of the screen.

When I open pages it scrolls through various numbers of blank pages with a line at the side, then stops at a document, but usually an old document. I have to go to "open recent" to get on the page I want.

It's the 1st version of Pages I've had on my computer.
Can't delete them as they scroll through them at a rapid pace. The longer I've had the problem the more blank pages it scrolls through.

Scrolling through PDF files is slow using Adobe Reader on MY MACBOOK pro with retina

Scrolling through PDF file using Adobe reader on my MACBOOK pro is very slow and stuters. That is even for small files. MAC preview and Adobe pro do not have this issue. It is only Adobe ready.
Please advice.

Summarizing the problem specifics and versions for future readers:
There are two separate "slow scrolling" bugs in recent versions of Adobe Reader on Mac OS X. Symptoms: scrolling by mouse or fn + down arrow is very sluggish and laggy. Problem 1: Adobe plug-in for Safari causes slow scrolling when viewing PDF documents within Safari. Solution: remove Adobe plugins from Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin. I also deleted AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin. This will cause PDF display within Safari to revert to the built-in Apple PDF renderer, which is very fast. These files will be re-installed anytime you install or upgrade Adobe Reader.
Problem 2: Stand-alone Adobe Reader scrolling is slow starting with version 11.0.01. Version 10.1.4 and earlier are not slow. User CF McBlob did not experience this slowdown, but was also running Acrobat 10.1.7, which might have libraries which prevented the problem. I'll do further testing when possible to try and isolate more details.
Platform specifics: OS X 10.8.4, late 2012 iMac 27", i7 3.4Ghz, 16GB RAM, 3TB Fusion drive, GPU = GTX675MX, 1GB
