SD reader locks computer

I have a Satellite M45-S359 running Windows XP Home Edition. Problem with built-in SD card reader. Regardless of which card I insert (a 1GB or a 2GB) card, the computer locks completely. I am looking at photos taken with my Nikon camera - both cards work perfectly on the camera. The first 2 or 3 photos are read without trouble then the entire computer freezes and I have to re-start using the power button on the machine. Funny how a few pix read OK then it freezes. Ideas?

My Swing app needs to be notified when a user "Locks" the computer using CTRL+ALT+DEL combination and then clicking the "Lock Computer" button.
I need to know even if the computer gets automatically locked via the screen saver. Can I do this at all ?

FYI The latest update wipe out my Windows user info resulting in a locked computer. had to restart in safe mode and restore my system. Basiclly it killed my whole computer. If I was not a programmer , fixing it would have been nearly impossible.

The new apple itunes update . corrupted or deleted my user profile in Windows 7 home premium.resulting in a locked computer with no way of getting into windows.

Never heard of that happening before and given the way the OS works that should not be possible. Sounds like something was awry with your computer before you started the process.
What program did you write to fix it and in what language? You might want to share this with Microsoft so they can look into it further.

Firefox locks computer visiting random web site

I've read the various emails about the problem and none helped. My situation is as follows:
Firefox locks computer when visiting a web site (random). This morning, it was:

I've revisited it a couple of times since with no problems. Only happens once, maybe twice per day. I've found I can unlock the computer doing the following (whether it's all necessary, don't know yet, still experimenting):
do CTL-ALT-DEL a few times
hit ESC a few time
hit the comptuer off button (not holding down, just push and release)
following steps sometimes gets the desired effect without going to the next one
close the lid
re-open
tap off button
Maybe it's lack of patience on my part, possible it's not all necessary. Eventually, the computer goes into hibernation and shuts down. Re-open it, enter BIOS and Windows passwords, and it's all back to normal.
I have NO add-ons, 2 extensions:
Avast Online Security 10.2.0.187
LastPass 3.1.54
Wouldn't swear to it, but problem seemed to start with last Firefox update, 37.0.1. I have Windows 7.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
* Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
* Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
* Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

With new updates from Acrobat Read my computer freezes and I can not fill in forms anymore, how do I fix these problems?

After updating Acrobat Reader my computer now freezes when I try to fill in forms using Acrobat Reader, this never happen before! Now the only way to unfreeze my computer is to turn it off and restart it, which is not how a computer is suppose to be turned off as nothing responses to get it unfrozen(ESC., Contol-Alt-Delete)! The I shows up as if I am able to fill in forms, but after trying to fill in the form numerous times various ways, it always ends up freezing my computer up! I HATE THE NEW UPDATES! Why can't I speak with a live human, through Adobe? I would not want to buy anything from any company which would not allow me support by talking to a live human over the phone, as typing messages can be misunderstood! Their is no point to have Acrobat Reader any more if it does not allow me to fill in forms! I could use the reader that came with the computer! It is sad that for myself filling forms using Acrobat Reader was nice since there are times I am unable to write anything due to tremors, unfortunately I am not alone in this type of medical problem and we the disabled the majority of us are on Social Security! Everyone know that Social Security does not give their recipients enough money to live off of! It is sad when a person is ill they lose more than their livelihood, so called friends abandon you too! So how can I fix the freezing problems and is there any Adobe that I can fill in forms which will not cost me money and or another company that may offer this free of charge?

Server read lock request timed out in MDM 7.1 server

Hi,
I have a issue regarding the MDM 7.1 server which is on windows 2003 server and Database as Sql server 2005.
The issue is when i am trying to load the MDM server from the MDM console it is popping out the error message as "Server read lock request timed out"
when i restart the server and try to mount the MDM server it is getting mounted but after a while again it popping out the error message.
i saw few log's at batabase and o/s but no luck, Is there a way to solve this issue.

Page no: 21/96 Example 3: Request for a server/repository read lock timed out where it is said that with MDM 7.1, lock attempts time out in 2 minutes to prevent Consoles from locking up for long times. This is not an error and does not require server to be restarted.
So please go through complete section 5.6 MDM Server Client Requests

Why not a read lock?

I use dbsql operate the database, when i begin a transaction, followed by executing a query, by observing its lock and found it produced a write lock, instead of reading a lock?
Why is it? Do the following:

That is expected behavior. It is due to an internal optimization for single threaded access to the database. The first time two threads clash trying to get access to the database schema table (which is what table00003 is), the database will stop getting a write lock on the table and will instead just get a read lock.

Please read the table DD25L with AGGTYPE = 'E' to get all the lock object names in the field VIEWNAME. Use these lock object to read the table DD27S to get the fields present in these lock objects.

Client security password manager has locked computer

Never setup password or forgot it . Now when log on. Client security screen pops up asking for password and locks computer. Can't close it or do anything on computer.

Adobe reader locks up when attempting to print drawing

Every time I try to print a floor plan or drawing to plotter Adobe Reader locks up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe. Any suggestions?

MYSQL backup, mysql -e "FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK" doesnt work

I want to backup mysql locking tables first using flush tables with readlock, then do rsync and then unlock tables.
I want to do it automatically using script.
When I log in to mysql using: mysql -u root -p
the command:
FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK;
works and locks the tables...but when I create my.cnf with login information to mysql:
[client]
user=root
password=xxx
the command:
mysql -e "SHOW DATABASES"
works and shows the databases....
but when I run this command:
mysql -e "FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK"
it doesnt lock the tables...why?

Are calling the 'mysql -e' command as your user or as root? If you call it as root (typical for a backup script), then the .my.cnf file needs to be in /root instead of $HOME.

X can't read lock file

After a recent update of X, following error occured by running startx:
Fatal Server error
can't read lock file /tmp/.X0-lock
Has anybody an idea how to solve this problem?
PS: sry for my bad english...

Yep, I was root, and I'm wondering too....
I also tried to delete the file using the inode number, no success.
Everytime an application wants to access the file it gives me an: "stale nfs filehandle" message, but I don't even use nfs.

that's a big help. unfortunately for us, we're already on a release that includes that note (SAPKB70209). So I'll get a message opened to see if they can update that note so we can apply the fix. at least I know what component to open it under now.

I unplugged the cord that went from the printer to the computer to another canon printer to see if I could remediate a problem with a wireless printer.
When I plugged the computer cord back into the usual computer, the printer is no longer talking to the computer even though I have gone in and changed back the settings, and it has been the default printer - that was not changed.
I've tried all the trouble-shooting suggestions to no avail.

Reinstalling the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website may resolve the issue you are experiencing. Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX850. Once on the download page, please do the following:
1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click on the MP DRIVERS file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once the file is downloaded, please double-click on it to reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
