SDO_AGGR_UNION crashes the session

Hi!
I am developing a PL/SQL overlay module to overlay two polygon layers (+ some additional logic). I also use SDO_AGGR_UNION function, which aggregates polygons previously created by SDO_INTERSECTION function.
At this point session crashes with "end-of-file on communication chanel". When debugging, I realised, that SDO_INTERSECTION produced invalid polygon from valid input polygons. In some case,s playing with tolerances, helps that crash does not occur. But produces crashes at other cases.
I have Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.4.0.
Any idea, what is wrong or how to handle "end-of-file on communication chanel" as exception?
Regards, Saso

Saso,
I'd bet real money that this is related to the issue we've been having, and working with Oracle to resolve, on SDO_UNION:
SDO_UNION EOF on communications channel
No, you cannot do anything to trap this problem in the database as the database session has crashed (core dumped).

  • Save the session data in the database !

    Hello everybody,
I read an article on JavaWorld website about saving the session data of an application in the database instead of mantaing them in memory.
In this way, the web application is more scalable and in case the application server crashed the session data can be taken by another application server.
I was sure that this was a good motivation of writing a class to save the session data of my application in the database, but i read another article where a good methodology to
create a scalable web application was to save the session data in more application server so if one application server crashed another application server can take the control of the entire application.
I think that at the moment i have just a bit of confusion in my mind.
    Any suggestion ?
    Cheers.
    Stefano

What you've read was a method of "load balancing" where "state" is maintained by a backend server instead of the web servers themselves. Yes, if done properly, this would achive true web server independance, and if one crashed, another would pick up where it left off. Of course, you'll still need an HTTP load balancer in front of the web server farm, so it can dynamically shift the load.
From an architecture standpoint, it's a good way to go, but only IF you really need 7x24 with zero downtime. Reason being twofold. 1) It's a huge performance hit, becase each GET/POST requires a trip to the DB, because it's holding state. 2) It's a lot of work, because you're now taking on the role of "managing" sessions (e.g. when to expire, reading the cookie/URL for session IDs.
I was once responsible for a 7x24 Intranet that ran core business applications. My service level agreement with my customers was 7x24 alright, but with the risk of a possible "blip" (meaning, if one server crashed, simply reconnect and continue your work). Worst case, one lost just that one page worth of work.
    I hope that helps explain!

  • Firefox 4.0.1 closes with no error message. When I restore the session I get: Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page. What can I do?

After opening certain websites, pogo, firefox 4.0.1 closes with no error message. When I restore the session I get: Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
I have had this problem before and had to reinstall an earlier version of firefox.
The error console has a long list of errors, many of them end with: does not implement nsIObserver. Is there a way to send the information on the error console to firefox support?
Redownloading Firefox 4.0 will fix my problem until I either close firefox or turn off my computer. The problem recurs when I open firefox again.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • [Solved] Gnome 3.14 crashes on session start

    Hello,
I'm currently experimenting issues on my PC after making an update to gnome 3.14.
After the update, I'm no longer able to launch any gnome session.
GDM seems to work fine, but after the login the session launch always crash as I get the famous but not very informative "Oops! Something went wrong..." message.
( I also work with 2 others machine under Arch, and this is only time I've encountered such problem with this same update )
I have little clue on the origin of my problem, but here is the

It is not Xorg.  It looks like Gnome gave up the ghost and exited.  After that, Xorg did what it is supposed to do and exited normally.
Try deleting or renaming ~/.config/gnome-session and ~/.config/gconf and try again.  (BTW, they are both directories)
    Hello! Thanks for your help.
Yes, I suspect also the problem isn't within Xorg, since gdm show up fine (it the session launch itself that crashes (with every user though)), and since
    echo "xterm & sleep 10" > ~/.xinitrc ; startx also works fine.
Unfortunately, I already tried something like that earlier (and tried again after reading your answer), but the session launch crash remains

  • Primusrun crashes the system on exit

Hi there im using bumblebee on my laptop for the optimus support.
When i run any graphical application through bumblcee it crashes the whole system when i exit it.
    for example:
    $primusrun glxgears
It works and diplays it, but when i press ESC to exit, it freezes, crashes the system.
These are the logs from the crash.
    Thnx for the help

  • Keyboard properties crash remote session

I have a x2go server on Arch and client on Ubuntu. When I open a session, keyboard indicator dies and can not be restarted. When I call keyboard properties from menu it kills the session.
The same thing with Nomachine FreeNX.
There is any message in X.log or messages on the server
How can I debug the problem?

I have the exact same problem, except I don't even have to have a remote session.  Just on my desktop after a while the media keys will stop working and when I call up anything keyboard related xserver crashes and I'm back at the login screen.

  • Logging broken / crashes  Forms-session in AS10g

we have running DB10gR2 and Forms+reports-Services
and somtimes problems with blockings in the DB
(it seems blocking a main Table ,no user can work )
I want to check , if forms-session is broken
by lost LAN-Connection or crashing the applicatin-users browser
    I visit the forms_application.log in
    C:\oracle\OASFORMS\OASFORMSHome_1\j2ee\
    OC4J_BI_Forms\application-deployments\formsapp\OC4J_BI_Forms_default_island_1
but nothing to see about that.
    how can I logging broken / crashes Forms-session in AS10g ?
    thx Norbert

duplicate post: Oracle forms session crashes.

  • Hotkey to go to change user menu / to lock the session.

    1) We are two whom used the computer. Is there a hotkey to swap to the menu of selection of user ?
    2) Is there a hot key to lock the session ? (such as "ctrlaltsup / lock the session" on windows) ?
    Thank you !

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash update and/or a malfunctioning browser plugin such as Real Player.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

  • [SOLVED] Certain programs crash the GUI (ATI graphics card)

    Hi all,
When I start certain programs, the GUI crashes and becomes inreadable. I can't see the text, buttons or anything. It is as if 'bricks' have been moved around.
When I log on to a Virtual Consile, I can restart GDM, login and all is fine, untill I start the certain programs again.
It seems to be these two programs causing the GUI to crash:
LibreOffice (It automatically starts in the document restore mode, after the last crash - which crashes the GUI )
    Keepass
Other programs I can use jsut fine:
    Gimp
    FireFox
    Chromium
    Eclipse
    Rhythmbox
    Banshee
I do not know what causes this, nor where I should start looking. I've skimmed through the error logs, but I do not see anything suspecious.
I'm running arch linux, 64 - bit, and it is fully updated, open source ati drivers.
Where should I start looking, and what might cause this problem?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    *Edit
Changed the subject to solved, and added the info that I use an ATI card.
The solution was in the following thread.

  • Firefox crashes; restore session unretrievable?

Hi. The other day my laptop ran out of power. I had my one, "main" firefox window up and running, and was just preparing to close the window and shut down the computer... but before I could exit (so firefox could save my tabs) it shut off.
The next time I opened firefox, expecting it to have recovered my session (and my tab groups!!) as it usually does, I didn't even get the restore window (about:sessionrestore) ... just the old homepage. All of my tab groups disappeared as well, and I thought... "this doesn't look good."
Searching around all afternoon on a public forum or two, I found information on the session.bak file - so I searched my computer for it, and found it.
NOW... when I open this file...(in mozilla firefox) I get a pile of HTML on a page --- and have no clue what to do from here. I believe that the session.bak file (dated just prior to the crash/laptop shut off) actually contains everything. I just don't know what to do from here!
    Can someone help?

Hello there, i think this might get you started

  • Error while adding a new method to the Session Bean

Hello everyone. I'm using jdev 11g, ejb, jpa & jsf. Everything works fine. But when I try to add a custom method to the Session Bean, I'm having an error.
    Here is my steps:
    1) I added a new method to SessionBean.java. Something like this:
    public void Hello() {
    System.out.println("Hello!");
    2) Then using Structure palette I exposed this method through Local interface and created data control
    3) Finally, I made a command button binded to this method (just droped it from DataControls.dcx to my page)
When I start the page and click the button, I'm having the following error:
    Error 500--Internal Server Error
    javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: Method not found: Hello.execute(javax.faces.event.ActionEvent)
         at org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.taglib.util.MethodExpressionMethodBinding.invoke(MethodExpressionMethodBinding.java:58)
         at org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.component.UIXComponentBase.broadcastToMethodBinding(UIXComponentBase.java:1227)
         at org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.component.UIXCommand.broadcast(UIXCommand.java:183)
         at oracle.adf.view.rich.component.fragment.ContextSwitchingComponent$1.run(ContextSwitchingComponent.java:70)
... (I've truncated the log because there is nothing important in the missing part)

Yes, I have binding in the page def. Everything is correct there:
    <methodAction id="Hello" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="invokeMethod"
    MethodName="Hello" IsViewObjectMethod="false"
    DataControl="PriceServiceLocal"
    InstanceName="PriceServiceLocal.dataProvider"/>
I've droped the method from the Data Controls panel

  • My session has timed out and i need the session always active

    Hi all.
I need a session whit never becomes timout but when I set de MaxInactiveInterval with
a negative value (session.setMaxInactiveInterval(-1) ) the session becomes timeout in
about 30 minutes or less, anybody can tell me why or the possible cuases of this
I am working in IBM WebSphere Aplication Server.
    Thanks, for your time
    Outis.
    P.D. sorry for my english

Note that the timeout is maintained on the server and is not the same as the cookie expiration date which is sent to the client. set the Session Timeout in IBM Websphere to 0.

  • How to Sync the session timeout of Portal with CMS Server

    Hi Experts,
We have a custom application build on our portal which will launch the reports of InfoView. It works fine untill the portal session timeout. Whenever the session timeout occurs and reloads it I am unable to launch the reports and getting the below exception.
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$OCAFramework: Unable to reconnect to the CMS server_ip:6400. The session has been logged off or has expired. (FWM 01002)
Portal is configured with SSO. Please adviese how to set the settings of session timeout in such way that Portal sync  session timeout with CMS server.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chinaa.

    Hi ,
There is no such option to sync Portal timout with CMS server.
To resolve your problem you have only option to set your CMS server timout to MAX value.
    Thanks
    Anil

  • Hi I have two questions. I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users? How is the session timeout set? Thanks, YS

<i>I am using NAS 4.1 and was wondering is it possible to set a different session timeout for different users?</i>
Um, there is no such thing as NAS4.1.
I'm assuming that you mean NAS4.0 (maybe NAS4.0sp1?). If so, then the session timeouts are specified in the session section of the NTV configuration files.
AFAIK, you can specify session timeouts on a per user basis.
