SE80 third party products

Hello,
If A-X is reserved for SAP AG and Z and Y are for customers, what is the naming convention for packages over third party products (eg. SOD tool like Virsa). Is "/" (forward slash) used for these? If so, is this a must or is this just the general practice?  Thanks in advance.

Salim,
Third Party products go under their own name space, like /VIRSA/
Changing these objects would still be a repair.
Go to - Se03->Administration-> Display/Change Namespaces. here you can can view all the namespaces in the system.
For additional info - refer to SAP help.

  • Sidebar missing from iCal in Lion - seeking a third party product to restore lost functionality

Apple has removed the sidebar, the always-on list of calendars that required no click.
The shallow popover that appears only when clicked — obscuring part of the calendar before disappearing — is to me (and some others) an unacceptable substitute for working with multiple calendars, especially where calendars are grouped across multiple servers.
I'm aware of third party alternatives to iCal. (Most full-featured calendar interfaces do have an always-on full-height list of calendars. Probably the best known alternative to iCal is BusyCal.)
This topic does not seek alternatives; I do wish to continue using iCal, albeit in a way that is less frustrating than what Apple forces upon users of 10.7.
    This topic seeks:
a third party product that will restore lost functionality to iCal.
To any developer who reads this topic: please, I beg you, on my knees, submit your iCal sidebar app — or whatever you wish to call it — to the App Store as soon as you can. I'll gladly pay, and more than gladly help to test any pre-Store development version.
Other readers please note: whilst I'm extraordinarily frustrated by Apple's design decision, this is not an invitation to rant. Let's gain something constructive from this discussion.
If you wish Apple to restore the sidebar to iCal, as an option, then please:
submit iCal feedback to Apple, with your use case; explain why for you personally the limited disappearing popover is a poor substitute; explain how the sidebar will improve both (a) your productivity and (b) your appreciation of Apple's software.
Side note: no category includes iCal, so I file this opening post under Using Mac OS X v10.7 Lion.
    Thank you

    the new way
Many things in the new iCal are beautifully designed. I am certain that the new iCal will be enjoyed by people who use the new multi-session screen sharing for Mac OS on iOS (that should be a separate topic).
iCal's aqua popover default may be perfect for people who have only a handful of calendars.
    Critically
The new design fails completely to offer an always-on full-height list of calendars — invaluable when working with more than a handful of things.
The screenshot below, taken whilst evaluating BusyCal, shows a subset of my list of calendars (more than the average user, that's why an always-on list is so valuable). In shot: three accounts on a CalDAV server. I have other, lesser used accounts on other CalDAV servers. Also some use of Exchange servers. My own case is extreme but there's a guiding principle for a variety of use cases:
some users need to see the list of calendars all the time.
What's exmplified below has become impossible in iCal 5.0 (1535) in Mac OS X 10.7 (Build 11A511).
I plead with Apple, or a third party developer, to restore the sidebar list of calendars to iCal.
Apple's limitation is acceptable when the user has only two calendars —
    — but for some other classes of user, completely inappropriate.
The percentage of users troubled by the loss of functionality may be less than the percentage enjoying the popover, but that in itself does not reduce the trouble, the frustration.
The sidebar was present in 10.4, removed in 10.5. Many users of 10.5 complained.
The sidebar reappeared in 10.6. Removal in 10.7 is almost completely dumbfounding.
I would like to say, "give it time — the more you use it, the more it will be appreciated" but for me this is not true. For some weeks I tried to work with this build of iCal and the more I used it, the greater the frustration. I grew to avoid iCal.
In most ways the feature set of iCal is unequalled. Support for many standards is excellent. The removal of the sidebar is a blight on this brilliance.
I plead with Apple or a third party developer to fix this at the earliest opportunity. I want Apple iCal — but user-friendly, not crippled.

  • Advantage of using SAP product over third party products

    Hi All,
I want to know whether there is any advantage of creating SAP product over the third party products in SLD.And if we want to remove Product at later stage can we do that ?
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
Are you talking about creating an SAP product under SLD? For client developements it is suggested to create only 3rd party products in SLD for developing the interfaces.

  • Exadata Database Machine & Third Party Products

Is there a document which lists out which Third Party Products are specifically allowed on the Exadata DB Machine? I am interested in CA Autosys, which is our enterprise scheduler.

There is no specific certification program for software on Exadata database servers, just a general recommendation to limit it to low-impact tasks like monitoring agents. Kernel-level modifications or third-party software on storage servers are not permitted.
I'm actually working on an Exadata implementation including AutoSys at the moment, and so far have found no problems with it.

  • HealthKit Compatibility of Third Party Products

    Hello,
With iOS8 being released in two days I'm curious about support by third party products for the new HealthKit framework.  I've seen statements about Health app and HealthKit supporting standard bluetooth medical devices but I don't know what "standard" is (any LE BT 4.0?  specific bluetooth communication standards used by medical devices?).  I've also seen many references to support by third parties like WiThings but the context is never clear to me as to whether that's an example of the type of companies that could integration; that they've announced they WILL integrate; and/or whether that applies to future product releases or existing devices.  I'd like to pick up a few products to work with this new framework but right now I lack clarity as to which (if any) current devices will have this support.  I don't want to throw everything away in six months when the wave of actual HealthKit supporting devices come out (or natively supporting of the Health app versus having to keep using the menagerie of other apps to pass data back and forth through Health).
Anyone have insight on who does or does not support this?  Is the an equivalent to MFI that is a HealthKit specific certification?
    Thanks!

still technically an accurate response but doesn't get me where I'm hoping to go
I've done some searching and didn't find anything but I'm appealing to the discussion forum in case anyone else knows of anything or has better search skills than I.
So, we've established that Apple doesn't have a big list, that's OK.  We all agree that manufacturers would probably have this data somewhere they control.  Here are some more specific questions that I hope clarify what I'm after:
Is anyone aware of third party manufacturers that have stated HealthKit or Health app compatibility in their current product line?  (press release, statement on web site, have it on good authority, etc...)
Does anyone know if Apple has claimed support for a specific BlueTooth protocol for their native support of BT medical devices in either HealthKit or Health app?  Looking for the possibility to just select any device that adheres to that specific BT protocol.
Is there any certification that third party manufacturers have/will obtain for items that are compatible with HealthKit or Health app?  (a la MFI)
    Thanks!
PS Meg: I hope this doesn't sound snarky, I appreciate you taking time to respond.

  • Third party product failure

Six monts ago I purchased a "G-Technology 500GB G-Drive - Slim USB 3.0 Hard Drive". Exclusive! no less.
It was part of an order from the Apple Store.
Last night it literally ground to a halt, nasty clacking noises.
As it seemed a bit soon for an article such as this to fail, €73.13 + VAT, I tried to find some way of getting some information on what to do.
If there is, it's well hidden, all attempts both on-line  and by telephone, ending with having to name the Apple product, which of course, it isn't.
The firm that manufactures this product seems a bit coy as well
From the little I know of EU consumer law, a product such as this, should be covered for a length of time much longer than the 6 months that I have had it.
I was using it as my backup drive with Time Machine. It would just be the time for my 2008 iMac to take a dive!
I'll probably run out and pick up something from a store anyway, I feel exposed without a backup.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Regards

Ordinarily, any 3rd party hardware sold by Apple comes with whatever warranty that 3rd party company provides, and you would deal with them over warranty for that item.
However, if the actual manufacturer of the item is not reachable or being problematic, then I would give the Apple store a call and talk to them about it.  While technically Apple is not responsible for the original warranty on such an item, they also (in my experience) don't like companies whose products they sell but who fail to stand by their own products.  Apple may be able to help you get the OEM to step up and honor thier own product's warranty.
That product http://store.apple.com/uk/product/HE491ZM/A/g-technology-g-drive-slim-500-gb-usb -30-portable-hard-drive?fnode=5f should have come with some documentation on how to get in touch with the OEM about warranty.
According to G technology's web site (http://support.g-technology.com/support) after 30 days, you are supposed to deal with them, not the seller.  So if they are not stepping up, call Apple about it and see if they can help you get G Tech to honor thier warranty.

  • Third Party Products

I have an old iTrip for the third gen nano...any word if the dimensions on the bottom of the new nano are the same or different?
I'm guessing they are the same...thanks!!

The bottom is completely different though connector is the same.

  • Installation of Third Party Products

we have purchased the Discovery SOA system and HP server. Before we can hook up to the network our IT people say we must install MacFee Anti-Virus scan and Network MOM agents,  plus Veritas agents for backups.
Should there be any concern having these products installed .

    Hi,
please bear with me as I did not had the chance of testing this properly. Actually I am lacking a system which is in 'HP shipping condition'. Therefore use on your own risk!
But this works internally and you could give it a try before starting to change too many other things in the configuration and SAP basis.
If you have assigned a different hostname to your Discovery System try to add the following statement to the hosts file of your box (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts).
    <IP Address> hostname hostname.domain iwdfvm2160 iwdfvm2160.wdf.sap.corp iwdf1127 iwdf1127wdf.sap.corp
    So for example:
    10.18.5.194 mynewhost mynewhost.company.com iwdfvm2160 iwdfvm2160.wdf.sap.corp iwdf1127 iwdf1127wdf.sap.corp
In this statement iwdfvm2160 refers to the hostname version 2 Discovery System. The string iwdf1127 is the version 1 hostname.
    Hope that helps.

  • Selling third party products

Hi! We are a bunch of engineering students . Our aim is innovation. Initially we are planning to design, produce and market cases for iPhone. Would you please guide us in the procedure to sell in apple store. Thank you.

  • Authentication from third party product to Portal samaccountname=domain\ID

I am working on a proof of concept at our company to pass authentication from windows ISA server to EP 7.0 Sp10. ISA server is setup as reverse proxy, both ISA and EP are connected to same LDAP.
We are able to successfully authenticate at the ISA server, then it calls the portal server with correct URL like http://portalserver.abc.com:53000/irj, but authentication fails with error message "User authentication failed".
After increasing the log level, I am repeatedly finding that the user name is sent by ISA server as  samaccountname=domain
userid. But the portal UME is configured without the domain name, i.e,. samaccountname=userid
Obviously, this can be resolved either modifying the ISA to send only the user ID or configure the portal to accept samaccountname=domain
    userid.
Internally we do not have great ISA skills to modify this, so I am wondering if it is possible to change the portal to accept samaccountname=domain
    userid. Please advice.
    Steve

    Hello Srini,
I know that your thread is a bit out of date, but we are facing the exact issue at the moment.
I wonder how did you manage it to have it worked?
Was it at the ISA level or at the Portal Config level?
    Thank you
