Search/Find Function in Timeline?

In the project panel there are several different ways to search through all of your media to find specific clips. Is there anything similar for the timeline?
For example - I have a 30 minute sequence with 7 tracks of dialogue. Each clip of dialogue is labeled with a line number from a script. When a producer comes over and asks "Can you quickly go to line 416?"...I'd like to be able to quickly do that.
Avid has a function where you can perform a find in the timeline for specific file names - does Premiere have anything like that? If someone could help me out that would be great!

Hi Peru Bob,
I believe myhar is looking for a search function for the Timeline. She wants to search for a specific clip name and have the playhead jump to that clip, if I am not mistaken. Reveal in Project is when you know where the item is in the Timeline, but you want to find it back in the Project panel.

  • How to use search/find function in a whole book?

    Hi,
New to indesign... working on a book file which comprises 25 chapters.
I'd like to do a final proof to ensure all double spaces have gone, all quote marks are right etc
Instead of opening each chapter and using "search/find" through each chapter, can i tell the "search/find" function through the whole book?
    Appreciate any feedback
    Thanks heaps

Apparently Adobe thought that would be more appreciated than a book-wide Search/Replace.
You can read all about CS5's new features, and their selection procedure, on http://indesignsecrets.com/michael-ninness-answers-indesign-cs5-critics.php. The "Book" feature doesn't even get mentioned under "Sorry, we didn't change that at all." Also make sure to read the comments -- it seems lots of people really want more book features.
If you're one of them (so it seems), you might want to pay a visit to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

  • How do I export a .dwg file so the Search/Find function can be used on it?

I have some .dwg files that my co-worker exported to PDF. It is crucial for me to have the ability to use the search or "Find" function in Reader. There are 11 different .dwg files exported into an 11 page PDF, but some of the were exported with different properties. I can search on 4 of them, but the other 7 are unsearchable. I believe my co-worker user Autodesk TrueView to export the .dwg files to PDF. So my question is what program I should use (I believe that TrueView is capable of what I am trying to do, but I'm not sure) and how should I set up the the settings before I export it to PDF. Thanks.

You need to contact Autodesk, almost no one here is likely to be familiar with what Autodesk can or cannot do.

  • Question: search/find function and markers?

FCPv1 through 7 user, now being forced to decide between Avid and Premiere, so I have tons of questions, but I will start with this:
I need to search through my marker comments, but I notice the find function doesn't work while in the marker tab, nor does it give options to search through marker comments while in the project tab. Is this possible?
It was also be preferable that it brings up every instance of the keyword, and not just the next instance, I am not seeing that as an option either...
I am hoping I am just missing something and you guys can help clear it up for me.
Here is my workflow incase it will help answer the question:
I have a video clip, and I have to transcribe every single line of dialogue in the clip.
I need to be able to search these dialogue lines.
Boris soundbite does not work for this, as I need to see what is said, not find where certain things are said.
Using subclips was my original Final Cut Pro work flow, but premiere handles subclips differently, and match framing only matches back to subclips, and not source material like I need it to. Unless of course there's a setting that makes subclips match frame to source material that I am missing, I dug around and looked for one but didn't see anything.
    Thanks.

Markers in Premiere Pro CS Next will have this functionality. I just checked it out. Sorry that this function was not included in Premiere Pro CS6.

  • EasyDMS 7 - Error in search / find function

    Hi Folks,
When I click the "find document" button EasyDMS 7 the find dialog box does not display the classification and object links tabs. It also does not show a drop down for document type. Once I enter a search term and click OK, I get the following 2 error prompts.
    1. Function BAPI_DOCUMENT_GETMULTIDETAIL does not exist!
    2. Unspecified error
Wondering if anybody else bumped into the same issue. My version is 7.0.3.1:  (Unicode)
    Thanks,

    Hi,
There was a bug in earlier versions of easydms that if you rest rfc cache from the "traces' dialog box, the reset was not proper. In that case you need to reset from "preferences". This is fixed with current sp's of easydms. hope this helps!

  • ICM Script Editor 'Search' 'Find' function, won't stop. Bug? 8.5.2

    Script Editor issue; UCCE 8.5.2
When I use the "Find Nodes" function in script editor, to find a string in 'all active scripts' the results are displayed eventually. Once displayed though, the search immediately begins again, preventing selection of any of the results.
It feels like a bug, & has a huge impact on usability of the search feature. It can also occasionally cause scripted.exe to crash.
I think it is likely because there are a large number of scripts in our environment, but there is no way around that right now.
I was considering opening a TAC, but thought there may be simple fix in the wild that someone could share here.
Is there a way to extend the refresh period for the search function? Or can the automatic refresh be disabled entirely?
Appreciate any help, thanks in advance.
    Edwin

Were you able to find a fix for this issue or did you ever open a case with TAC?  We are having this issue as well it seems along with another problem that recently started where certain updates that are made in CCMP load one at a time instead of as a bulk update in UCCE.
The example I was shown today by two end users was where one did an update of 93 Agent Desktops in CCMP and while viewing the other users Script Editor on an AW the update process to refresh the config within ICM occurred as normal then again and again for guessing around 92 more times in a row which basically stops all work in Script Editor till the config refresh is completed.  It looks like it is loading only one update at a time instead of all of them at once.  I do not know if this has to do with the type of resource being updated (in this case Agent Desktop settings) or not but it doesn't seem to happen with say Agent moves so far.  So for a very large company like ours this can have a huge impact to script updates and configuration changes.
If you can update on how you either resolved this or if a case was opened what the number for the ticket was I can reference that with the support case I will be opening for this.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Problems with the Search/Find function in Reader 10.1.6

I gave in a keyword in a 430 pages dokument (photoshopelements6_help.pdf) and got many search results for different keywords (in bold) but not for my keyword!!

Then it's more than likely a scanned image of text rather than actual text. Unsearchable.

  • PDF Searching using Adobe Acrobat Plugin Find Function in Safari

I currently incorporate the Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.1.2) plugin for viewing PDF files. I like using Safari for viewing PDFs within a web browser, but I find Safari's built-in Find function (open apple-F) inferior to Acrobat's ability to search for text within the PDF, as it never finds the words that I search for.
My question is: Is there an efficient built-in shortcut within Safari to search text within a PDF using Adobe Acrobat's plugin Find function? If not, is there a relatively easy, keyboard-based shortcut that could be made to direct the Find function to the Adobe Acrobat plugin Find function within Safari?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Figured it out.  It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat.  Here's the fix:
    Open Finder/Applications
    Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
    Quit Safari
    Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

  • Is Safari Find function flexible? (Search for inner strings of characters?)

I'm running 10.6.8 with Safari Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2). I see that when you search a web page using the Safari Find function, you can only search for the beginnings of words, not for character strings within the words. Is it possible to expand the Find function's capability to search for inner strings of characters?

use command F or the edit menus to make the page search box visible - click the magnify/arrow icon at the left side of it - choose "contains" or "starts with".

  • Find function no longer finds files

Does anybody know why might my Find function in Finder no longer finds files and how to fix it? It finds only a limited number of files and they have nothing to do with the search term. I have selected "Computer" as the searchable entity.

Instead of using the Find function,I use the free Find Any File app http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30079/find-any-file Try it.

  • 'Find' function doesn't work on some HP documents

For some pdf doc's I downloaded from HP, if I copy some characters from the text and then paste them into the Find box, the characters show up as hieroglyphs (mostly squares) in the Find box. And then actually executing the Find using those characters doesn't work, because it can't find the very word that I copied them from! On top of that, if I manually type a word into the Find box (showing normal letters), it won't find it even though I can see it within the text on the page showing on the screen. Very strange! In documents other than these old HP documents, the Find function works fine.
I looked into the document properties (menu: File >> Properties >> Fonts) and see that there are 9 fonts that have names I have never heard of before, and those fonts say "(Embedded Subset)" after the font name and "Encoding: Custom" in the font descriptions. There were a few normal fonts listed before these for that document as well.
Anyone have any idea what is going on?
    - Brad

It's hard to say without seeing the actual, source content, but given what you are describing, I would venture a guess that the source content is of too poor a quality to OCR reliably and accurately.  To test this theory, after running OCR, identify a term that you can confirm is present, but that the search feature cannot identify.  Then, copy and paste that term into Word or Notepad.  What I expect you will note is that a "0" (zero) has been identified as an "8," and other things of that nature.  OCR processing is garbage in, garbage out, so the source always has to be considered.  Repeat this process across the document to see if experience similar results.
You don't describe how exactly you are transferring the microfilm "images" to PDF, so it's difficult to say if that process is at issue or could be improved.  I suspect that's contributing to the problem, though.
Finally, with regard to the degraded image quality, you want to make sure you are selecting "Searchable Image (Exact)" from the OCR dialogue.  ClearScan or any type of downsampling will likely cause or contribute to the type of issue you are describing.  In a situation with low-quality source material, you would not want to use these other options.
    Hope that helps!

  • HP Deskjet 9600 Won't Print with 10.4.11 & Find function doesn't work.

Hi, there seems to be some link between the find function not working and HP printers not working in Tiger. I read this forum - http://209.85.215.104/search?q=cache:-v3OvLGNYBwJ:forums.cnet.com/5208-6126_102- 0.html%3FforumID%3D10%26threadID%3D271686%26messageID%3D2667189find+function+not+working+intiger&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us - and it seems like others have had this problem. Is there any other solution other than Archiving and Reinstalling system software? I don't have enough HD space to do that...?...I only have 1.74G. I've heard you need at least 10G available. Is that true? Thanks.

It is not obvious the problems are related. I read the thread and one user had both issues but the others didn't seem to.
    Does Spotlight work?
What exactly happens when you try to print?
Have you tried repairing permissions yet? (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility - highlight your HD on the left and choose the First Aid tab and the repair permissions option.)
If that doesn't work, see if the problem occurs in another account. If you are the only user, create another user in the Accounts pane of System Preferences.
Do you have HP software installed or are you just using the drivers which come with OS X?

  • The Firefox find function seems to have become CAPS or non-caps specific, so that typing a word in non-caps will not find matching words with one or more capital letter.

The find function seems to have changed in Firefox. Before, when doing a (CTRL + F) find, the search was not CAPS-specific or non-caps-specific. In other words, if I typed in "firefox" (no caps), it would find the words "firefox", Firefox", or "FIREFOX", regardless of capitalization. Now, however, the find function will only match the exact same capitalization. This totally undermines the usefulness of the function, and is a major hassle. Please fix it.
