Search function in web galleries

Does anyone know of a way to add Keyword search functionality to Aperture web galleries?
I have an image library I would like to make available to a client who regularly re-use photo's from their (rather large) back-catalog. As I am already using Aperture to process and manage their images a searchable online gallery seems like the obvious solution, but I can't seem to find a way to add a Keyword Search function.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

The Search function is a field where you can type a word and
it will return topics in which that word is located. So when you
state that is what is WAS and then say "NOW it seems that it's just
a listing of every word in the Help and the number of occurrences"
I can't quite see the difference.
It is a listing of all the words in the help, that is pretty
much what any search is although they do vary in their ability to
deal with multiple words and so on.
RH has a default Stop list and you can add to that. Click
File | Project Settings and then click the Advanced button. You
will see a list of excluded words that you can add to. That is the
approach rather than hacking the list produced when you generate
the help.

  • Remove Saved Search functionality from Web IC

    Hi Experts,
I have a view where in there is a component related to Saved Searches functionality that is appearing on the Web IC. Now, for my client, they do not want those fields to be visible.
So, I wanted to know how can those fields related to Saved search be removed from the Web IC.
I checked the configuration of the components used in that view and also for component usages of the component. But I did not find any component usage for the Saved search component. This sounds weird but I am not able to find out from where this Saved search component is displayed on the Web IC screen.
We didn't have this earlier in our system. This is introduced after we upgraded our system from CRM 6.0 to CRM 7.0 EHP2.
I have attached the screen shot of my view where the Saved Search fields are available.
Please suggest me some method by which these fields can be removed. Also, if there is any configuration in SPRO where this can be checked.
    Thanks,
    Preeti

    Hi Preeti,
Can you check if your view belongs to a viewset? If so, try to find there in correspoding html code for tag "thtmlb:searchSavingArea", something like this:
    <thtmlb:searchSavingArea>
       <bsp:call comp_id = "<%= controller->GET_VIEWAREA_CONTENT_ID( 'SavedSearchRegistration' ) %>"
              url     = "<%= controller->GET_VIEWAREA_CONTENT_URL( 'SavedSearchRegistration' ) %>" />
    </thtmlb:searchSavingArea>
Try to comment it and check if it works (I've never tried it ).
    Kind regards,

  • Mimicking SAP search functionality for Web Dynpro inputfield

    Hello Experts,
    I am using NWDS 7.0.18. EP 7.00 SPS 18
I want to mimic the standard SAP functionality of an input field search values in web dynpro.
Is it possible to have an inputfield with the little square search values button next to it, so that after I type in a few characters in the input field and click the button, a window will open up and list the values that contains that string? Then the user can double click the value and it will get populated into the inputfield?
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    MM

    Hi Marshall,
You can easily use the IModifiableSimpleValueSet for getting the value help attached to input field. Follow these steps:
    1) Create a attribute under somenode in the view context.
    2) Bind the atribute with the input field.
    3) Use the following code:
    IWDAttributeInfo list =wdContext.node<Node_Name>().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("ATTRIBUTE_NAME");
    ISimpleTypeModifiable type = list.getModifiableSimpleType();
    IModifiableSimpleValueSet valueSet = type.getSVServices().getModifiableSimpleValueSet();
    valueSet.put("value1", "value1");
    valueSet.put("value2", "value2");
    valueSet.put("value3", "value3");
    valueSet.put("value4", "value4");
Also please note that webdynpro does not support the feature what we have in ABAP when we type in some value and hit enter a pop up comes with the list of values. Such feature is not supported. The maximum what you can do is just hit the F4 button to get the value help and select some values from the value help popup which has come.
I hope this solves your issue. Please revert back in case you need any further information on this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pravesh

  • Search Function on web page

My company has a website in which we have our product catalog in pdf form, which has approximately 1000 pages.
I created the site using GOLIVE CS2.
Our vendors want to be able to search that pdf for their specific products only. So that if they type in lets say a number that is assigned to them as a prefix to their product number, then a list of some kind would be generated and clicking on the list would then take them to that page in the catalog.
What is the quickest and easiest way to do this?

PDF is a clumsy way to publish searchable content online. Ideally, you'd have your catalog products in a database.
A site visitor could still use the search function of the Adobe Reader plugin to find content in the PDF file.
You could also generate a database table where you index the content of each page in one column, and note the page number in another. Then offer a search script on your site that searches the first column and returns the page number value of the second column. You can access pages in a PDF file directly...

  • Develop Search Functionality

    Hi All,
I need help for developing Search Functionality for web base product using JSP - Servlet and SQL Server 2005.
like please open http://www.sun.com/, After opening the web page - at right top side there is a one text field "Search" and beside of there is a one ">" search button. Now
If I am giving the search keyword "Java" then it will comes with search results.
Same thing I want to develop my web base product. If I am giving any keyword - like medicine name and hit on the search button then result comes.
Please give me the concept or guide me How to Start for coding on this part?
    Thanks
    Amit Pandya

Read on how to do a search in a database using SQL. Then invoke that with JDBC API (make use of PreparedStatement!!). Then create a plain HTML form textfield and a button to enter the search keywords.
If performance is important and you have a lot of text (e.g. messages of a forum), I'd to introduce a 3rd party database search engine library such as Xapian which indexes the database for search.

  • Add web search function to website

I need to add a web search funtion to my company website. The website was build with some cold fusion codes. I have also added some hardcoded pages to the website. I need to add a web search function that can search both the datebase pages and the hardcoded pages. I have tried using google custom search engine, but it works really good with the hardcoded pages but not with the database pages. I wonder if there is something in Dreamweaver that I can use to create the web search??? Help!

Thank you very much for the comments. To answer your question, yes, the dynamic content do have links from other pages on the site. I have a few questions:
    1. How do I build a database search page using the built in server behaviors? I am not familiar with server and the website is host through Host My Site. Do I need to work with Host My Site or it is something I can do on my end?
    2. You mention that any search engine (including google) should be able to index pages. I have tried Google Custom Search Engine. It doesn't work very good with the dynamic pages. Should I try other serach engine as well? Any recommendation of search engine?

  • Dynamic Aperture web galleries

Following on from my more general post, is it possible for Aperture web galleries to be dynamic?
For example, AFAIK if you have an Aperture gallery based on a particular keyword, then every time you apply that keyword to a new photo, Aperture will add that photo into any smart gallery based on that keyword.
However, is it possible to dynamically a web gallery back to Aperture, or does the gallery have to be uploaded manually each time you make that sort of change?
    Cheers,
    Iain

Really it comes down to the main advantage of Aperture being the keywording and metadata tools, and the main advantage of a photo gallery programme being the search functionality on the website, eg the user being able to search on 'birds' to bring up a gallery of all the bird photos.< </div>
    Additional information:
In a digital asset manager like Cumulus, the photo files are not available online. The visitor uses a browser to view a catalog of the images. The catalog is always live and updates instantly as any catalog manager creates new records for newly imported assets.
When a viewer wishes to download a file, they are connected to the server as a function of the DAM catalog. They cannot actually connect directly to the server.

  • RoboHelp 8 vs. 9 - Search Functionality Comparison and "All of the Words" vs. "Any of the Words"

    Greetings!
Our organization focuses a lot on the accuracy of our searches, which is a necessity when we have hundreds of very lengthy topics (no matter how well organized they are).
I finally completed a detailed comparison of the search functionality of 8 and 9 and came to the realization that 8 is a disaster, while with 9 things get better, but there's still TONS of room for improvement.  I have reported this to Adobe and so far there has been no official response. There are many blogs on here related to the search functionality, but I thought it may be a good idea to try to sum some of them up. I do hope that someone somewhere at Adobe runs into this and shares with all of us why Adobe's Search functionality is still in the 20th century!
I hope this helps everyone else who is curious to know about how the tool's search functions work and whether it's worth upgrading from 8 to 9 at this point. I have included some examples which are in a way internal to us, but they will give you a good idea of what to expect and I'm quite confident you'll be able to recreate them on your side in seconds.
I also wanted to ask a question or two, and if anyone can assist, that would be greatly appreciated:
Currently if we search for several words at once (not exact phrase), both 8 and 9 perform an "Any of the words" search which always returns too many results. Does anyone know a way to change the default to an "All of the words" search? For years I have not encountered a tool out there that doesn't have the option to modify this, alas with RoboHelp 8 and 9, we can't find a way to do it (with or without modifying the source code).
Out of curiosity, are there any other tools out there which offer Conditional Tag (or similar) functionality and which behave better than RoboHelp? (easier to maintain, less buggy, web interface, etc)?
RoboHelp 8 vs 9 - Search Functionality Comparison Table with some Examples:
    Search Example
    RoboHelp 8
    RoboHelp 9
    Expected Results
    (based on industry standards)
    1. Searching for Exact Phrase "Correspondent Banking"
Such a search returns topics which contain "Correspondent Banking" and "Correspondent Bank". The last one is included because "Bank" is the root of "Banking". The topics that contain the exact phrase appear at the bottom. When we click on any of them, we're not automatically taken to phrase so we have to scroll and look for it or use CTR+F.
Identical behavior except that when we click on the topics which contain the exact phrase, we're taken straight to it.
When we hear "exact" we expect "exact" and nothing else. Unfortunately, both versions keep searching for the roots of each word as well and incorrectly display those results at the top. Adobe has made it clear that this is a part of their functionality, BUT this is something we would not expect to see for exact phrase searches that are in quotes.
    2. A Non-Exact phrase search of "Geographical Limits of market area"
The tool automatically performs an "Any of the Words" search instead of an "All of the Words" search. This is also related to the question I asked above this table. As you can imagine, this is returning almost every topic and it becomes virtually impossible to find what we're looking for. It even returns topics which contain "of" and nothing else.
    Identical behavior
There to be an option which allows us to choose what the default search would be - "Any of the words" vs. "All of the Words"
    3. Exact Phrase search of "low-score" with a dash
None of the topics that were returned contain the phrase. As some of you know, RH8 has problems with special characters, including dashes.
RH9 returned only the topic that which contains the phrase and we were taken straight to it when we open it.
The expectation is to see exactly what RH9 currently offers. Unfortunately 8 has a big problem with these types of searches.
    4. Exact Phrase search of "2.4"
This is similar to the one above. Adobe doesn't like periods as well. It doesn't not find any of the topics which contain this phrase. In our case, this is a section number and sometimes people want a quick way to get to a specific section or sub-section.
We were hoping that this will be fixed with 9, just the way they fixed the dashes. Unfortunately, still ZERO results returned.
Expectation is for the topics which contain that exact phrase to be returned, no matter whether there's any special character inbetween.
    5. Exact Phrase search of "300,000" or $300,000"
The tool only returned several random topics which contain "000" as part of larger numbers. The topic that contains "300,000" was not on that list, even though it also contains "000".
    Identical behavior
Expectation is for topics that contain the exact amount to be returned, no matter if there is a coma or a dollar sign anywhere within the phrase.
    6. Exact Phrase Search of "525-B5". Goal was to have a special character, a letter and numbers.
    ZERO Results returned.
Only the docs that contain the phrase were returned and nothing else. It seems that this this was addressed in version 9 and now it behaves as expected.
Expectation is only for the docs that contain the exact phrase to be returned.
    7. Exact phase search of "log" in order to test the Substring Functionality
Here's an extract from Adobe's Support Site:
“Substring search (WebHelp/Pro, FlashHelp/Pro) - If you enable this feature, a search for "log" returns topics containing the words "catalog" and "logarithm." Substring search takes longer than whole-string search.”
So with that in mind, we decided to test if turning the substring searches on and off does exactly as advertised, unfortunately the answer was NO. We even used an example almost idnetical to what Adobe provided on their site.
With Substring Searches disabled, we searched for the word "log". Unfortunately it returned words like "logbook" and methodology". How is that possible?
    Identical behavior
Our expectation would be only for docs that contain"log" to be returned, no matter whether substring is enabled or disabled. In our case it was disabled.

    Hi there
Out of curiosity, why is it that you expect to hear from Adobe? I'm hoping it's not simply because you posted here. Certainly we have Adobe folks that visit here and we are thankful for that, but it isn't to be expected.
    Cheers... Rick

  • ICal Tasks/To Do Items Keep Disappearing, plus search function doesn't work

Ever since I upgraded my Mobile Me calendars about two or three weeks ago, which as I understand makes my calendars now LIVE on the Mobile Me cloud instead of directly on my computers, I have had nothing but trouble with iCal. I use Bento with iCal for my project management system — I use the iCal Tasks for my basic information, and I added extra fields in Bento for other details I like to track. Anyway, the upgrade completely unhinged where those two came together so that the basic information that Bento was getting from iCal no longer matched with the extra details.
But that's no longer my problem. I fixed that easily by completely changing the way I track things now — I did away with the extra fields and decided to have Bento work directly and only with the information in my iCal app.
Still, another problem came up, the one I need an answer to. New tasks I entered through Bento, wouldn't KEEP on iCal. They'd show up momentarily, but a day or two later, they would be gone.
I thought I fixed it a few days ago when I discovered that Time Zone Support wasn't checked on iCal. I made sure it was checked on all my computers AND on Mobile Me because I suspected that Tasks were disappearing every time my computers synced with Mobile Me. It seemed to work fine after making sure everything supported time zones. I even synced a few times, just to test it, checked all calendars at all places, and whatever Tasks or To Do Items I added from within Bento appeared to sync fine, appear at all the proper places, at all instances of the calendars, AND stay put.
BUT I just discovered tonight, that the new Tasks I entered in the last week for one of my calendars have ONCE AGAIN disappeared. For some reason, though, the new tasks I entered for another one of my calendars managed to stay put. I have no idea why one calendar was affected and another wasn't.
The point is, I can't for the life of me figure out why my newly entered Tasks keep disappearing. Is it an iCal thing? Is it Mobile Me? Is it because I am entering the tasks/to do items from within Bento? What?
And the icing on the cake? The search function on the iCal app on one of my computers no longer works. I will search for a task/to do item that I KNOW is there and can actually see on the side bar, but it will not pop up in the search results. I searched online about how to fix that, but none of the fixes work — many of them, I believe, are outdated and so can't work in my case.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix these issues?

with iTunes and the apple.com web site, you don't hit
the Magnifing glass, after typing out what your
searching for, you hit enter on the keyboard. The mag
glass (Atleast in windows) is just for decor showing
you its a search field, its not an actual button like
it would be in most Microsoft/Windows apps
Thanks. I thought the magnifying glass was a clickable icon.

  • How can I add a "search" field for web pages content-not blogs or podcasts?

This seems to be such a basic function, I can't believe I'm having so much trouble. I don't have a blog or a podcast on my new website that I'm in the process of designing. So how do I allow people who'll visit my site to search there for specified content? The only instructions I find are for the RSS in inspector for blogs or podcasts. All I want is for people to be able to search my site/web pages (that have no blogs or podcasts on them). This must be a common request... or am I crazy? How do I do that?
    Thanks for your help.

I think I've answered my own question after a few hours of searching:
    http://services.google.com/searchcode2.html?accept=on
    Thank you Google.

  • How to get the search function to find the correct files

i have long wondered if it was me or the system, but i am very clear finally that the search function *****.
    1) i try to find a word in a document.
    2) the system shows me several possibilities. chapters 16, 18, 21, etc...
    3) i then bring up each one individually and search each one. some of them DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WORD OR PHRASE IN THEM THAT I AM SEARCHING FOR. what's THAT all about?
    4) so i look at my real life book or search on the web. voila! there it is. chapter 14.
    5) i try again. both finder search and spotlight. NEITHER SHOW ME THE CORRECT DOCUMENT. neither shows me chapter 14. they still show 16, 18, 21, etc.
this has always been VERY mysterious.
it has happened hundreds of times over the years.
i am VERY clear now it is NOT me and it IS the system.
what use is it to get a list of documents that do not have the correct criteria and NOT get the document that has the correct criteria?
    is leopard as sucky?

    thanks for your response.
perhaps you don't use it as much as i do?
i have been cursing this search feature for years.
i often try to find exact words in a particular book
that i have on my computer as .doc files.
and it often does not find what i want and it often
finds what i do not want. so i am very confused.
i went to system preferences. opened spotlight.
there is nothing listed under 'don't search here'...
and i have only a few things listed under 'search here.
i do not understand how that link could help my
    problem.
when i search for the word inside a document or
inside a pdf, the programs find the word. but
    finder/spotlight does not find it.
    i still need more help.
    and thanks for your response.

  • Best / most popular software or scripts for adding search function to website?

I'm trying to find a good piece of software or script for implementing a site search function into our website.  I am relatively knowledgeable in Dreamweaver and can write CSS and XHTML at the fairly intermediate to advanced level, as well as work with JavaScript and js files, but I don't really know much ASP or "by hand" Java coding.  Their are so many scripts and software out there for adding a site search that it's hard to sort through and narrow down.  I was hoping to find reviews of the popular ones or "top 10 lists" of some sort that would help me pinpoint a good one, but can't find anything like that.  These are the primary needs of the website:
--Has under 50 searchable pages that won't change much and probably won't exceed 50. There are product part numbers and descriptions for some 250-300 part numbers, spread across only 24 of those pages.  The remaining pages are important but no part numbers-- About Us, News, Where to Buy, History, Featured Products, etc.  The product pages are very much like an online store but we don't sell directly on the site (only thru distributors/reps).
--We are trying to keep the price under about $50, or use a free solution
--The pages are all static XHTML+CSS pages, but our server can run ASP (we have another website for one of our other product line divisions, on the same server, with many more products beyond 1000, which was programmed completely in ASP by an outside company about 4 years ago).  We self-host both sites.
    --Our server can't run PHP
--The search capabilities need only be rather basic-- a keyword search with a results page that uses the same design template as the rest of the site.  It would be nice, but not mandatory, to have a search filter and/or a drop down menu to enable selectively searching only certain parts of the site, or only product/part number search vs. general search, etc. (but again, not mandatory).
--I do have a sitemap page already on it, if that matters or helps
Some of the ones I've found so far that looked the most promising include:  Zoom Search Engine (http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/), Site Search Pro (http://www.site-search-pro.com/), and FX Site Search which is a DW Extension I found in the exchange (http://www.felixone.it/extensions/prod/mxssen.asp)-- (that one looks possibly technically challenging or requiring more ASP skill, though)
Forgive me if there is a better area to post this, if so let me know.

For a static site, your options are:
    Google ~  http://www.google.com/sitesearch/
    Freefind ~ http://www.freefind.com/
    Zoom from Wrensoft ~ http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/

  • Bridge Help | Create web galleries and PDFs with Adobe Output Module

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/using/create-web-galleries-pdfs-adobe.html

    Plug-ins that failed to load:
It seems to me that something is wrong with your install. Maybe you did clone a former mac to install on this one? or copies old stuff to the new one. Don't know, it seems easy and quick but I prefer always a new install using a new computer or switching to a new system upgrade.
Lightning effects shows to be 32 bit while I think to know that Photoshop CS5 and CS5.5 are both 64 bit, however Bridge was turned to 64 bit in the CS6 version but that should not mater for you to use both applications from the same install disk (or download?)
And variations is something I tried to find in CS6 but can't find it there. I had long forgotten this feature that presented different previews and you could switch to color corrections and brightness (not sure) while looking at the result in the previews.
So I think you have some old material residing on your system. I would advice you to back up all custom settings (actions, tools, workspaces etc. and keywords in Bridge) Then do a search for the Adobe Cleaner tool :
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html?promoid=GYTAU
(don't know this links work for you but you can find it easy with google).
Read the instructions carefully and follow this using the official uninstaller that came with PS (see application folder). Also be sure to have your serial number and AdobeID present and while an activation of PS is for the computer maybe for security first deactivate before uninstall.

  • Making Bridge web galleries searchable

I'm sure this will have been asked before on the forum, but after scrolling thought the first four pages of topics I can't see it raised anywhere.
Is there an easy way of adding a search engine that will interrogate a file's metadata when creating a web gallery in Bridge?
The company I work for is looking to set up a gallery of 2,000 graphics to begin with, which will probably grow to 10,000 graphics before too long.
Bridge is great because it converts Illustrator vector files to jpegs (the organisation is Microsoft Office-based, and most staff cannot read vector files). But obviously the resulting gallery has to be searchable. It seems odd that Adobe hasn't included this option as standard when creating web galleries.
I'm a graphic designer by trade, and although I can do a little bit of coding I'm certainly no expert in that area. So I do need a simple solution.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice offered and sorry if I'm bringing up an old chestnut again.

It sounds like your html files are assigned to fireworks instead of safari. Open your file browser (windows explorer or mac equivelent) find an html file and look at it properties. In windows this is where you can change the app that is the default. I am not sure how on a MAC, but hopefully it will jog your memory or someone else will answer.

  • Full text search on PLM Web UI

    Hello,
Full text search functionality in DMS with TREX solution , is working with SAP GUI. ( Original is checked in CV01N or CV02N )
Same functionality is not working with PLM Web UI .
Is there any setting has to be activated for this.
    Thanking you,
    Regards,
      Satya

    Hi ,
Yes.  When I checkin Document in CV01N , then I can find in CV04N.
But if I check original in PLM Web UI , then I can not find in CV04n.
I assume that indexing will not problem as it is working in SAP GUI case.
Indexing functionalities ( TREX ) are not called when Document is checked in through PLM Web UI.
Where we can check these settings ?
    Thanking you,
