Search iCal for all events in a specific calendar?

Is it possible to search for all events that I have listed in a specific calendar? For example, I have one set up as "guests" and would like to see a list of all the events I have under that. I tried doing an ical search for guests, but nothing came up, as that's only the calendar's title.
Thank you.

I thought I was the only klutz who seemed to remember I used to be able to do this, but couldn't figure it out now. This is the second key feature for me (the other being the event info drawer) that's been dropped in iCal 3.0. I'm not sure if the development team is just basically misguided, or if Apple's excuse in the summer about putting off Leopard because programming talents were stretched too thin was, and still is, exactly what's happening.
So disappointing.

  • Searching iCal for past events

I am trying to search iCal for a past event. The search window only is giving me events in the current month or in the future. I am on an iMac running 10.8.5. If i manually go back a month I can see an instance of this event that is not showing up in the search results. If I try Spotlight I get the same results. I feel like this is something simple that I am missign but I just can't figure it out!

I suppose this should be Searching Calendar ver. 6.0 not iCal--sorry!

  • Is there a way to set an alert for every event in a single calendar?

    Hi all,
Is there a way to globally set an event in just one of the calendars showing in iCal?
For example, I have a "Birthday" Calendar with a bunch of birthday events.  I want to set the alert for all of them to, say, noon, without having to edit each and every one.
    Thanks!

To generally add an alarm to all events in a specific calendar you would need to program an Automator Workflow that passes all events of the calendar to an Applescript that adds the alarm.
For your birthdays problem is a predefined solution iCal: If you enter the Birthdays on the cards in your Address Book, and enable the "Show Birthdays Calendar Flag", then you will receive automatic email notifications of upcoming birthdays.

  • ICal setting default message alarm for all events

I want to change when I get message/alarms for all events (birthdays, etc.) from 2 days before to 4 days before. I find that I can only change this for single events (e.g., a specific person's birthday rather than all persons' birthdays). Is there a way to change the default so that I get my warning alarm message for all events 4 days in advance instead of 2 days?

I miss appointments b/c of this too.
And no, Apple does not read these forums UNLESS you comment on how pathetic and Mickey Mouse certain elements of their software is - like no 'default' setting for alarms in iCal, and not being able to resize windows from all edges (vs. the little annoying corner) etc etc.
I hope they fix it with the new software package in Leopard. I'm somewhat afraid it's going to be 'Leper' at first though. We'll see...

Well...I went to the modem (Westell, WireSpeed), found the NAT settings, once again, I'm WAY over my head, I am assuming this is a TCP connection (as opposed to a UDP) and per Lorex my mobile devices will use port 1025.  So I gave it a "global port range" of 1-10 and I indicated that the "base host port" was 80, 1025, & 9000 (ports 1,2,3).  When I selected the 'enable' it asked for a "host devise" my choices are my IPhone, IMac and the IP address for the dvr, so I choose the dvr.  I still cannot connect and canyouseeme still can NOT find these open ports.  This is taking up my whole day! I don't know how people figure this stuff out.

  • Why does my iCal delete all events older than a year? Is this a synch issue? I'm running Snow Leopard.

    please ignore my question.

  • Grabbing an event from a specific calendar by date

Is there a way to grab an event from a specific calendar by date?
Basically, I receive an email with information I want to put in the event name (title?) - it is in a particular calendar, and a on a particular date. I grab that event, update the event title with the information i parsed from the email message (i've already got that part done).
I've looked through many applescript examples, but they all seem to deal with creating an event, not updating one.

It's quite easy if you know specific value of the event, the following change summary property of the event:
    tell application "iCal"
set _event to first event of calendar "Home" whose summary contains "Test..."
set summary of _event to "More Test..."
    reload calendars
    end tell
However, things get complicated when you try to get repeated events, because repeat events don't really have true start date and end date. So it's really difficult to get a repeat event by its start date or end date. See this thread:

  • Can I switch calendars (Ex. "night shift" to "day shift" cal) with a repeating event, but ONLY for that one event??  It asks "for all events or only this event" if i change the time.  But it changes ALL events when i try and switch calendars.  Any help??

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar.  I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts".  But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days.  I want to change that in my calendar.  When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event.  no problem....just this single event.  but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event.   can anyone help with this???  am i doing something wrong?  is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program???  i used to do this and never had any problems.    Thank you!

You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)
Exactly what you you trying to do?

  • Possible to email reminders for all events and birthdays?

is it possible to get ical to email default notifications to my email 7 days before ANY event that I have, including birthdays and meetings?
    Thanks!

You may want to take a look at icalfix: http://www.robertblum.com/articles/2007/03/14/icalfix-06
I think it will take care of what you want to achieve.
The default automatic alarm option in ical is a tad lame as you can only select a number of minutes before an event. You can also create custom alarms and if, after creating these alarms, you click again on alarm, you will see in the pop up window the last 4 alarms you created, which is better than creating your custom alarm every time, but still not as good as selecting a default custom alarm once and for all.
You will not be able to create yourself default alarms for subscribed calendars such as birthdays
    hope this helps

  • Search iPad for all .PDF files

    Hi,
How can I search my iPad for all the .pdf files that are on it?
    Thank you

    Thanks but that doesn't work.
A .pdf is not a name but a type of file like a picture or a video. It is an extension.
Searching iBooks is not enough as I need to search the whole iPad, including emails, etc.
Surely there has to be a way to search for types of files on an iPad like pictures, video's, presentations, etc.

  • Search Hierarchy for All Enumerated Types

I have inherited a large hierarchy of code (about 1200 VI's) and am in the process of modifying it.  Unfortunately the previous developers who have worked on the code either did not know about Type Definitions or chose not to use them for the challenge.  I have updated an enumerated type and after poking around have found that there are many others like it peppered throughout the hierarchy that also need updating.  Their names are similar but not necessarily the same, close enough that if I could search over all enumerated types in the hierarchy I chould most likely pick out the ones I need and dare I say replace them all with a single type defined enumeration.  The problem is that I dont know how to search a hierarchy for all enumerated types, I see an option to search for all front panel terminals but the search quits after finding 2000 (not to mention that this enumeration will exist as control, constant or indicator).  Anyone have any ideas?

To help you with this, you can programmatically search your VIs to find the number of Enums you have in each. That might at least help you keep track of your changes. You could even make all of them blink so they are easy to find. For details on how to do this, see the following thread:

That will help you find them on the FP but not the block diagram.
For the BD this should work.
Just select the enum constant for the numeric palette.

Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar

  • Outlook 2013 on terminal server Search failes for all users

we have a small comany with a new Windows 2012 Fileserver and Terminal Server.
Office 2013 is installed and we use Office 365 - Exchange Online as our mailserver.
We use Outlook with the Cached Exchange Mode ON. We have shared our mailboxes with our collegues.
Indexstatus is complete for all the users.
So far the information i have.
I suspect wrong permissions on the Windows Search Folders are the cause of my problems but where can i find the Windows Search Folders which are indexed (and shoot be accesable for the users).

Winnie, thank you for your answer.
    1. Make sure indexing is complete. ==> Index is complete
    2. Make sure Indexing Options are configured correctly ==> Indexing Options are configured correctly for the administrator, Outlook
isn't configured in de Indexing options for the users (that might be the problem i guess)
    3. Make sure Outlook data is included in indexing==>
Outlook Data is included in indexing
    See screenshots below:
First screenshot are the Indexing Options as configured for the users, the seconde one are the indexing options for the administrator. I suspect there is my problem, but can't find the solution the solve this for the users.

  • Search capability for all information?

From what I understand, there are three types of search capabilities in Oracle Portal:
    1. interMedia Text searching in Oracle Portal available for content areas only.
    2. Oracle Portal Navigator for searches on Oracle Portal pages.
    3. Oracle Portal Search portlet for searches on applications (and content areas)
How do you do one search for all three types of information (content areas, portal pages, and applications)?
Our customer would like one place to search for all information on the Oracle Portal website. This would include documents in the Content Library, web pages, and data contained in tables that are populated by forms.

No one here will no if they intend doing that or not. Hopefully they will, you'll just have to wait and see. You can post feedback requesting that feature here: You can leave your feedback at this link: Apple Product Feedback
