Search Results Window Display

We have a RH8 project that has a custom, vertical layout that doesn't display the TOC, just some menu buttons and body content (WebHelp). When we search, the TOC page open, however, the page is so truncated that only part of the first result displays along with a scroll bar. Where can we change this so either the results display in the body page or we can customize the size of the results frame?

Is it possible to select multiple files on the W8.1U1's SEARCH RESULTS window page? For instance, if 10 CPP files are found by the seraching mechanism, can I select all 10 files and have them open in Visual Studio at once?

Only total ignorance about PowerShell makes someone post such bad 'bug' report. He got critics about his bad post, but I'm sure he doesn't understand.

Show properties in the Search Result window

Hello all,
I would like to add few properties in the Search Result window such that the corresponding values are visible at a glance rather than checking the same in the respective Details wondow.
Example: Ia have created new Properties like ReqNo, ReqDate... and would like them to appear in the Search Result window.
Please help me solve this.
Im also reading the UI topic given in help.sap.com but am unable to find the answer.

Hi Ritu,
Go to KM Config > Content Management > User Interface > Settings > Layout Set and put "Search" in the filter. You should see "SearchResultLayoutSet" and this is the Layout Set that is used to display Search Results. Within the Collection Renderer there is Displayed Properties, this is what you need to focus on.
There are some other threads and documents associated with your question here on SDN. If you do a search for "SearchResultLayoutSet" in the SDN search you should get enough information to achieve your objective.

in my search results page, i need to add a link/button for every document searched. on click of this link/ button i need to capture the document/file url and insert it into a splist.
is it possible to customize the search results window?
below is the snapshot: i need to add the link/button Add link to DB on each and every document retrieved by the crawler.

Sharepoint 2013 custom search results grouping display template

Hi,
I am trying to implement custom grouping for search result items. I would like to group them by a managed property, but without using result blocks (query rules). The idea is to sort the results by the property and then compare the current item (ctx.CurrentItem)
with the previous item using ctx.CurrentItem.ParentTableReference. If a new property value is detected we insert a new 'group header' (just some simple html). The problem is the ParentTableReference is undefined. Shouldn't there be such a property in current
item object?
I'm implementing this in a custom search result item display template...

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to customize search result items display template.
I suggest you get enumerate all properties of JavaScript context object and debug you code to watch the
ctx.CurrentItem object.

i found there is no option in sitesettings>searcscopes
and i created a custom search results page.

For your issue, you can go to Site Settings -> Site Collection Administration -> Search Settings -> set "Site Collection Search Dropdown Mode" to "Show scopes dropdown":

Spotlight search results window columns frozen

Spotlight search results window columns "Name", "Kind", "Last Opened" are sometimes "frozen" and cannot be clicked. Sometimes can be clicked.

Try deleting this file.
com.apple.spotlight.plist
~/Library/Preferences.
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.

Search Results Window Disappears

When I go to Edit --> Search a window pops up and i can input my search term. Usually this will then display a Results: output with all the results listed below which I can see them in context. Now, this window closes immediately and i have to manually click through the results on the page. Any way to get this thing to stick around?

I guess that this is "by design". I'm observing exactly the same behaviour (annoying behaviour ).

Google Search Result Window Duplicating

Just recently at home and work computers (iMac G4s, OS 10.4.2 and Safari 2.0) Google search windows are duplicating. I have Google prefs set to open search results in new browser windows and when it does it now changes the 'back' window that has the Google search to display the same as the window with the results. This doesn't happen if I open the 'results' window behind the Google search window (Apple-Option-click) instead of in front of the search window (click). Weird.

Gets more interesting.
It seems to be the way Google has the pages set up. If I click on a main advertizer - the links at the top of the page that are highlighted with a light blue background, or the links on the right side of the page - the new page and the original page behave correctly.
If you click on a link that is in the main area the "Search Window Duplication" thingy happens.
Google has updated it's code recently so my guess is that this is NOT a Safari bug. Hopefully it will get addressed soon.

How do I get a 'search results' window to pop up?

I have a master/detail form that contains a master block (say dept), and a
detail block (say emp). I would like to be able to query by emp name, but when
I execute the query, I would like a 'search results' box to pop up that contains the name I
queried for, as well as some other emp info, and the dept no. There might be
multiple records that match my query, and I'd like them all to be listed (or
list 10 or so, with a scrollbar). I'd like a push button next to each record
that will take me back to the master/detail form with that record displayed.
Can you help me get started? I've tried some things, but can't seem to figure
it out. I'm using Forms 6i. THANKS!

How about basing a default block on a view that combines EMP and Dept.
Have a multi record block and let Forms do the work for you.
In enter query mode you'll be able to fetch based on any item, and the block will be populated with the details that match the criteria.
Now when you double click a record you can for example pass the empno to another block that will display the information you need.

How To Eliminate Separate Search Results Window in iTunes 11

From my perspective (based upon how I use iTunes to create playlistsby searching for titles, listening, and selecting), the new format in iTunes 11 of showing search results in a separate window was totally unworkable. Fortunately, I found a CNET article that said how to revert to the old method. To disable the new format, and have search results show up in the body of your music library, all you need to do is this:
Click on the magnifying glass in the Search box in the uppper right corner of the iTunes screen
The first item in there is "Search Entire Library", and has a check mark next to it
Click on it to remove the check mark
That's it! Now your Search results will show up in the library itself, as it always has.
Until I found this quick fix, I was ready to trash the new iTunes and replace it

I found this article with the explanation on how to find this again. In the upper right corner of itunes (only when an item is downloading) you will see a downward facing arrow inside a gray circle with a blue status bar type line below it. If you click that it will show you your downloads progress.

As I understand, the issue you encountered is the LastModifiedTime displayed incorrect in search result.
If you go to CA > Search service application > Search schema, in Managed Properties, type LastModifiedTime, then you will get LastModifiedTime property. Click it and you will find the property is mapped to five crawled properties.
I’d recommend you create a new managed property and only map it to ows_modified property. Then test the issue again.

Search results not displaying correct last modified date

Hello
I have a bit of a strange issue. I have a SharePoint site that was upgraded from SP2010 to SP2013. A document has been created and uploaded into SharePoint on 1 August 2014 and the file has since been edited. In the search results the last
modified date is appearing as '8 January'. Note that this document was not originally created from a blank one but was instead a Word document that was received by the user and then edited and then uploaded into SharePoint.
I have checked my locale settings and everything is set to New Zealand.
I have rerun a full crawl on my search database and this hasn't helped.
Also, I have multiple sharepoint web applications on my server using the same search service application. is it best to separate these out?

My google search results are displayed shortened in firefox

Hello, my name is Timothy White, and I use FireFox almost exclusively as my browser and I noticed some months back that my google search results for the "shopping" engine suddenly became shortened. That is to say that depending on what I search for, I have only 2-4 or so columns of results displayed. The weirdest part is if I change the results to be displayed by price rather than by relevance, I often receive totally different results that were not displayed before.
Naturally, I harassed the google technical help twice before I received an answer, which was that they had no idea what I was talking about. Thinking that this may not be a problem on their end, I mirrored my search results in Internet Explorer as well, and found that IE gave me many pages of results. Changing the sorting there, gave me the same first 2 or 3 pages FireFox displayed, followed by ll the rest.
So FireFox is somehow cutting off the product searches after a certain number of results. I searched google (on IE now of course), and your technical help database to see if anyone else had this problem, and as far as I know, its a new one. Either that or you guys are playing a cruel trick on me, which I hope is not true, or I am going completely crazy, which I really, really hope is not true either.
So, are there any ideas why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and let me know if you need any more info. Thanks,

You can check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.

OIM 11g R2 Beta: Display default search results while displaying Catalog

All,
We are trying to achieve displaying a default search results automatically (based on any criteria) while displaying the Catalog screen. By OOTB feature, the Catalog search is empty and there won't be any results displayed while displaying the Catalog screen. Please provide any directions or inputs for achieving this functionality if anyone is aware of how to achieve this functionality.

In Search box enter any search item and click "Add to Cart" and then click "Checkout". Now in the same catalog screen at the right side of list of Cart Items you can see button as "Save As Profile". Give any name to this Profile and save the profile. Now if you click Catalog again, you can see the created profile under catalog search.
