Searching for a burner for G3

I have an Apple iMac G3/500 DV SE (Summer 2000). I am running OS 10.4.11 and believe it or not it's doing pretty darn good. I have cranked up the memory as far as it can go. There is still a lot of life left in the thing, and I am not ready to get a new computer yet. I am, however, willing to spend some money now to 'kick it in the guts' so to speak.
I am purchasing an external 500MB hard drive that will connect to one of my FW400 ports, so the problem of storage is now solved. Getting a new Mighty Mouse and keyboard as well. Those purchases will be usable on the next computer, so it does not worry me about spending the cash there.
Obviously, since I am clinging to my G3, I am not terribly concerned about having the fastest thing on the market. But I would like to burn discs, and that is the pipe dream I am bringing to you folks.
I am searching for an external CD/DVD burner that will be compatible with my iMac G3. I am pretty sure I can use a USB 2.0 connection to my old USB connections, as they are backwards-compatible, yes? I know that speed is sacrificed there. And, obviously, I still have one FW 400 port open, so I would prefer to use that port. I believe the problem is the G3's 500 MHz, or the lack of some other programming/driver/ something internally.
Is this impossible - if so, just tell me now!! :)
Does anyone have any suggestions? I do not want to spend a small fortune in getting this, but I'm willing to go about 150 bucks or so.

Sorry for using slang. A sled is where you take an external device, take off the top cover and throw it away. By leaving the top off, you can conveniently change out the contents of the external device and make a multi-purpose container.
The reason for starting with a generic external case is to give you options that the general market might not offer. There are a number of internal burners available on the market. That is what most people want. So, your selection is much greater.
However, for simplicity, here are a couple of links that include external options. In fact, firewire is typically external so that narrows the field. On the one hand, it is easier to search, on the other hand, you limit your selection and price options.

While LaCie has a good reputation, I can only speak first hand for Yamaha burners. When you find something you like, you stick with it.
As for "two out of three work," that was just a reference to the failure rate of the three USB/firewire sleds purchased from the store that was closing. Not being able to return an item must be factored into any discounted price.

OUCH, Dan. It may have been worth the extra $25-$50 to have an iMac with an internal CDRW drive.
External support is diminishing as we speak. You would have to throughly search out for one that hopefully includes some additional software or pay extra for decent software.
Forgit USB unless you have lots of time on your hands. It would burn 650MB very slow. Maybe up to 90 minutes per CD.

Dual Layer DVD Burner for Mac OS 9

I always figured that the 1 hour burn limit imposed by iDVD was done intentionally to help sell DVD Studio Pro. Now having bought a copy of DVD Studio, I find that the limitation is actually imposed by the number of layers a burner is capable of writing.
My research leads me to believe that Apple released a dual layer burner for the MacBook but no mention of its comaptibility for other models.
So is there a dual layer burner available for other model Macs and equally important will it work with Mac OS 9.2.2?

It started after the major update to iOS 7.
I can't believe that this is so hard to do. It's just not letting me. I can add a bookmark to the home screen just fine, just not in a bookmarks folder anywhere I try.
I've used Apple products since 2001 and have always loved how intuitive they are. But the Safari browser since iOS 7 has been the worst I've experienced. At least right in the beginning after that update.
I'd really appreciate any help that doesn't just tell me how it's suppose to work...I know that.

I think I solved the wifi connection problem, just by switching off completely the router! sounds trivial, but in this case it worked!!!

There are plenty of options but I have found that the LaCie d2 http://blu-ray.burnworld.com/burners/lacie-d2.htm works more consistantly. I use Toast 11 mainly for Blu-Ray. The drive does come with a basic verison of the software which is good for most but you need to upgrade to do some serious authoring.

I upgraded my original system from 10.4.11 to I believe 10.6. something about a year or so ago. I thought about re installing my safari app but when I go to open anything connected to safari my screen goes back to the desktop. I cant open any files that I have on my desktop that I set up through safari, like my banking program. Prior to changing system preference to safari default I was able to open those files and now I can't get into change it back. Can you guide me through this?

Try running the 10.6.8 combo update.

System Preferences or Safari Preferences?
Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

One other thread said it was fixed by waiting till prompted by iTunes to insert the blank disk, instead of putting it in first. Does that work? Found a number of hits on this Googling.

Urgent + Search a delimited file for more then one string

Urgent please help I am trying to search a file for 2 different strings.
This is how the command prompt will look like

"-t|" - denotes a delimiter
-4 - denotes the field number
-f - case sensitive

I am able to get one search criteria but when I have 2 as above (Harvey and Atlanta) I get lost I do not know how to get these arguments from the commandline and still do a search correctly. My code at the moment is doint a hard coded search so I was trying to extract the arguments that's where I got stuck.

I recently updated to the latest version of iTunes and now get a message saying 'Registry settings for iTune drivers are misng for Cd burning' I have uninstallled and reinstalled iTunes and tried everything to repair the problem but still have no optical

I am using OS 64 bit Windows Vista Home Premium and recently updated the latest version of iTunes. (I only have this CD burning software on my Laptop). Ever since updating, I received the message 'Registry settings for the iTune drivers are missing for CD burning'. The drivers for Lower and uppper filters in the registry are missingand I now have no optical drive. I have unistalled and reinstalled Itunes and manually entered the filters. Have tried everything including something called GEAR driver installer which was suggested on several technical sites. Everything was working fine in iTunes until I updated it.. It's strange I can still import music but not burn?? Friend s have told me they have ha dthe same problem when updating iTunes but resolved the problem by uninstalling/reinstalling or altering registry keys.
Today I went to use my Epson Printer and now have problems with it not working. I decided to uninstall/ install printer software and still can't get it to work either. I may be wrong but his all seems connected to me?
I have been trying for days to get telephone support and been told today you have to pay

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content is not allowed?.
The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

Search is not working for subsites

hello,
SharePoint search is not working for any of the subsites and it is just working for top level site. I can see that all the subsites is visible in search. Any idea?
interesting thing is, it is not working just for one site collection subsites. If i do search in subsites of another site collection of the same web application than it is working fine and it is working fine for all ohter web apps too.

I agree with Chris, please check following in your sub site: http://site_name/subsite_name
1. Click on Site Actions -> Site Settings ->Modify All Site Settings
2. Click on Search visibility.
3. Check All this web to appear in search results.
4. Browse to the document library or list in your sub site.
5. Click on Settings->Document Library Settings or list settings.
6. Click on Advance settings.
7. Check the last item - All items from this document library to appear in search results.

How to pass custom search help(F4 help) for a field in ALV output?

Hi,
I want to activate the F4 help in ALV output for a field for which we do not have search help assigned at table ,data element and domain level.
In field catalog i have enabled it by below line.
ls_fcat-F4AVAILABL = 'X'.
but because there are no standard input help available it is giving message as "No input help is available".
so how to pass our custom search help (g_search) for any field in ALV output.
I am using object oriented ALV grid display.

How do you create a custom search result for surrounding suburbs for a real estate website?

I have a Web App for property listings for a real estate website. There are item fields as follows:
Suburb List:
Edensor Park
Hoxton Park
Denham Court
Cecil Hills
Abbotsbury
Surrounding Suburb List:
Edensor Park
Hoxton Park
Denham Court
Cecil Hills
Abbotsbury
Say a property is listed in Edensor Park as the main suburb and Hoxton Park and Denham Court are also selected as its surrounding suburbs.
On the website's search form, the visitor selects, for example, Edensor Park. I need the search results to show everything listed in Edensor Park as well as in the surrounding suburbs of Hoxton Park and Denham Court. Is this at all possible?

The Filter settings are sticky. Every container listed on the Library tab of the Inspector keeps it's own Filter settings, set to whatever was last used.
I'm not aware of any way to set a default Filter.
You could create a Folder and put a Smart Album in that Folder with "Source" set to the Folder. Any Albums or Projects you put in the Folder become the superset for the Filter you set in the Smart Album. This is a pretty sophisticated set-up, however. What is the filter you need, and how often do you need it?

You might have two different things going on at once here.
Starting with the registry settings message.
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
