Searching for Links in km Folder
Hi Gurus,
I tried to search for links in km folder. But the TREX didn't find them.
is it possible to configure the TREX to enable links to be found?. if
yes how does it work?
Thank you
Hi,
there is a custom property you have to add during index creation called
<i>IndexInternalLinks</i> and set the value to <i>true</i>
In this way the link itself is indexed, not the target.
Have a look there also:

Sharepoint 2013 - Search for link names on a single page
Hi
I am messing around with SP13 and trying to get my search result web part to only search for link names and display all results.
I have created the search source to point at the sub site. If I search for part of a link name it will list all links in one long row as a single result.
Example: One single page contains all links. Each link points to a .aspx page. The search source is pointing at this page and it can display results but only as a single result containing all links as one line of text.
Say I have 1000+ links of which 50 has names such as Link1-Item1-Basket1, Link1-Item1-Basket2 up to Link1-Item1-Basket50.
When I search for Link1-Item1 I would like my search results to display 50 results as 50 individual links.
Is this possible?Hi,
Yes, you can format the search results as you expected. But you have to create a custom display template to format your results such as extract the links from each results and display it as separate link.
Once display template created you have to map the display template to your search results web part.
Please refer to the following articles.

Searching for links across multiple pdf files
We have thousands of pdf files that are being moved to a new website. Some of these pdf files have links within them (either as text or as a hyperlink). This number is unknown.
The issue is how to programmatically search across multiple pdf files (numbering in the thousands) looking for links using a regular expression or part of a path. This will have to be able to search behind the text and search for the link url.
We first need to identify the number of files with links and create a list of the files with links that need modifying. If the number is too great to modify manually, then we would need the ability to programmatically edit these links.
The pdf files are stored in a database. Also, the pdf files are different versions and some are password protected.
Is there an Adobe product that will perform this? If not, are there any 3rd party vendor products that will accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for your help.I have no solution, but a thought: the database factor may seem to be
a killer. But you could look for a solution designed to read PDF files
from a web site (by spidering or from a list), which would presumably
load them.
Or could do a one off extraction of the files from the database into a
directory and use that for your process. Probably a very good idea,
since extracting all files from the database is likely to be costly
and hammer the server (but can be scheduled at a sensible pace), while
the search process will (if it is possible at all) doubtless need to
be run countless times.

Hi,
I have a quick question for searching links in text Edm.String
I have thousands of documents and I want to return results when people search for http://youtube.com or http://linkedin.com etc
Searching for http will work but http:// will not.
Also searching for www will work but not www.
Also searching or C# won't return accurate results either.
Any ideas on what's going on? Do I need to encode the search terms in a special way or change how I'm indexing those documents?
ThanksWhat's happening is that during word breaking many characters such as : and / are causing URLs to break apart, so we end up indexing fragments and not the whole thing, making results have poor ranking at best and probably look just plain inaccurate in other
cases.
A simple approach to this -if you know that : and / don't show up in other places that could cause confusion- is to simply replace them with an empty string, which will turn for example
http://youtube.com into httpyoutube.com. It's important that you do this both during indexing time and query time, so both are consistent. If your URLs have other characters such as & and ? you'll have to process those
as well. Dots are fine (at least assuming you use the default language setting).

Script to search for special data in folder
Hi,
I use several folders, which have several data called .txt at the end. Some of the folder have no .txt datas and some folder have one or two of .txt datas.
I want to write a script which makes it possible for me to search for the .txt datas in the folders and let me know the Name of the data.
At the moment, I have no idea how to search in folders for special data.
Maybe somebody of you know how I could programme this code?
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
MosquitoHello Mosquito,
There is no Script required to do what you are trying to do based on my understanding of your explanation.
You just need to follow these two steps:
1. Add ALL the directories you wish to search for you *.TXT files to the DataFinder Search Areas, be selecting a grey folder in the NAVIGATOR, right-clicking the folder and then selecting "Add Search Area ...". This will ass the grey folder to the "Search Areas" = Yellow folders on top the the tree view in the "My DataFinder" view of the NAVIGATOR.
2. In the NAVIGATOR panel, find the text box on top of the file system hierarchy view, and type "*.txt" into the <Enter search text> field as shown in the screen shot below. Press the "Search" button to the right of the text field, and you will get a list of all *.txt files that are contained within your yellow search area directories.
That's it. No scripting required ...
Let me know if that helps.

a folder on my desktop is missing, when I search for files that are in the folder nothing comes up! There are no items in my trash! please help!!!!
Well, now you know why you should have backed your data up. There are two kinds of computer users: those who have accidentally deleted important data in the past, and those who will do so in the future. You've just switched groups. If your data isn't backed up, it will all be lost sooner or later to boneheaded mistakes or hard drive failure. The only question is when. Good backups are cheap insurance against that day.
Now that those files have been deleted, you'll have to use data recovery software to try to salvage them, assuming the space they occupied on your hard drive hasn't yet been overwritten (a pretty good bet if they were still visible yesterday and you STOP using your computer now, to avoid overwriting them before you recover them). To do so you'll need an external hard drive and one of the following recovery utilities:
Data Rescue 3: http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
FileSalvage 7: http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id= 1
Both are offered in demo versions that will show you what the full version could recover before you have to pay for anything. -
When Safari is selected as default browser, clicking on a link found in an email (macmail) prompts Safari to open the linked page/site. But FireFox merely opens, doesn't go to the URL selected. What do I do?
Does that also happen if you disable all extensions?

How do I search for a bookmark folder by name in Safari?
How do I search for a particular bookmark folder in Mac Safari 7.06? Since there seems to be no automated way to sort the folders (as in other browsers), in a long list of folders, a particular one can be hard to spot. Yes yes, very similar to a previous question of mine. -jan
Click "Help" menu in the Safari menu bar and enter the folder name in the search box.

But the results are not refreshed. SAP IT has given me a new IE10 today (see further below).
can this be checked please.
( i have seen there are a bunch of other reports on broken searches, they seemed to be about different issues imo )
PieterI've checked in IE11. Its working fine for me.

Hi,
With this post, I would like to ask a question.
In Indesign CS5.5 on Mac Os X, when placing a picture using the place option, there is in the top right corner a search field. When browsing to a certain network folder and trying to search for files whitin that folder, which have filenames containing a part of the search string, no files are found.
For example: a folder containing 200 files with names starting with "sports baseball 001" up to "sports baseball 200". When searching for "baseball" no results are found.
What I could find on the internet, are several discussions relating to huge problems with Spotlight on 10.7 and 10.8 and network drives.
Does anyone know of any fix or plugin for Adobe Indesign that allows fast file search in a folder when placing a picture in a document?
Whe have this issue with all our mac's running these versions of Os X and Adobe Indesign.
Any feedback would be helpfull.
JohnGood to hear that Adobe engineering is taking a look. However you might want to file a formal bug/feature report here: Wishform, to get it on record as a customer/user problem, and to perhaps attract additional requests from others who have the same problem.
I'm not sure if the commercial Mac application Default Folder X would fix the problem. You might want to test their trial.

Search for Missing Links in This Folder option not working
I'm running InDesign CC 9.2.1, though this problem has persisted throughout the last few years and previous versions of InDesign. My operating system is OS 10.9.3. In early versions of InDesign, you could check the "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" option box when re-linking a missing link and the missing image would be highlighted in the finder window of the new image location. I did not keep track of what version of InDesign it was when this function ceased to work properly, but I would like to see if there is something I can do to make it work again.
The "Search for Missing Links in This Folder" check box is still in the finder window, and is always checked, so in theory it should highlight the missing link/s in the folder it is searching in, but it does not. The example below illustrates my point. The InDesign document that I used to illustrate this was opened up and there were four missing links. When I select the missing link/s and hit the relink button at the bottom of the links palate, I navigate to the correct location of the link but the image doesn't get selected even though the "Search for Missing Links" is checked. The missing link it should have highlighted was 431-11 frontal.psd, which clearly exists at the top of the "Front Street" folder.
This isn't a big deal when the folder contains four images. But when it has hundreds of links, it is a pain to try to find all of the links that are missing when the file name is often truncated, or it has an odd string of only numbers, etc. Just checking to see if anyone has any insight to this issue.I think the yellow alert triangle next to each link name means that you just have to update those links, by hitting the refresh button at the bottom of the link panel once all links are selected (it's two arrows in a circle)

"Search for missing links in this folder" doesn´t work anymore
Just upgraded to CS6 for Mac on Snow Leopard and the Search for Missing links function no longer works. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix it?
Is it set in your prefs? It's optional....

Search for broken links to images
Is there an efficient way to search for broken links to
images?Hi there
I'm not sure if you are meaning to ask about links inside
topics that point to images that you are popping up or linking to
outright or if instead, you mean that some of the images that are
supposed to be displayed inside topics are maybe missing and you
wish to know about them.
One easy way to spot a missing image reference is by using
the Project Manager. Not sure if you are using RoboHelp 7, 8 or
older here, but if on 7 or 8 look in the Project Manager pod.
Otherwise it will be found on the left panel of the application.
Expand the Images pseudo folder and quickly scan the list of images
and expand sub folders inside. Any missing image should be listed
with a red x to indicate the status. You may then examine the image
properties to see which topic(s) is/are still referencing it.
Cheers... Rick
