Second monitor use

I would like to view my work as I edit it on my prime monitor on a second monitor in order to get a view of the work as I edit on the prime monitor. Is this possible?

I have the Navigator panel open full time on my second monitor.  It always shows the entire document.  Is that what you mean?
Here's what my Photoshop layout looks like across two 1600 x 1200 pixel monitors.

How do I use my wireless Led TV as a second monitor to my mac book pro using my home network without any cables? Both of them are connected to home network

Having a gateway there is not going to be a problem. We just need to configure the Time Capsule correctly to work with the 2Wire.
You will need one ethernet cable to connect the 2Wire to the Time Capsule and a second ethernet cable to temporarily connect your computer to the Time Capsule so that it can be configured.
The 2Wire you have now should already be broadcasting a wireless network, so once you have the Time Capsule setup, you will actually have two wireless networks there.
Here's how to configure the Time Capsule to work with the 2Wire:
Connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the 2Wire to the WAN (circle icon) port on the Time Capsule.
Connect another ethernet cable temporarily from your computer to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule
Open Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the row of icons to assign a name for the Time Capsule, a device password (write this down) and adjust time zone settings
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
    Wireless Mode....Create a wireless network
    Wireless Network Name....Your choice
    Radio Mode....Automatic
    Channel...Automatic
    Wireless Security...WPA/WPA2 Personal
Wireless Password....Your choice (write this down)
Check mark next to....Remember password in keychain
    Click the Internet icon
At the bottom, change the setting for Connection Sharing to "Off (Bridge Mode)"
Click Update at the lower right and the Time Capsule will restart after 20-25 seconds and you should get the green light.
You should now be able to connect to your Time Capsule wireless network.
I'm not clear on whether you have tried to setup the Time Capsule to backup your computer. Post back if you need some info on that. We may need to start another thread for that as that will be a different subject.

  • Second monitor using VGA to HDMI or alternative?

    Hi,
I recently purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j038tx Notebook PC.
I have a Dell monitor, which only uses the VGA output.
I have a sony vaio VGA to HDMI adapter, and I tried this adapter with the monitor, it worked fine. I was able to use the monitor as second screen.
However, when I use the same adapter on the HP computer, the second monitor is black and do not get recognised.
    Can someone please helpe me!!!!
Do I need to buy a new VGA to HDMI that's specifically built for HP computers?
    Or
Do I need to download some drivers to make this work? I just  updated the computer with the drivers as I purchased this only a few weeks ago.
    or
Do I need to get a different adapter? like VGA to USB? Is there such a thing?
The Dell monitor is about 5 years old, but if it works on my Sony Vaio Pro 13 Laptop that just got released, I don't see why it won't work on the HP too.
    Many Thanks

There is a possibility that all you need to do is go into the display properties of the HP and have it look for the adapter.
First the model number of the HP and then the Windows version that is installed, please.

  • Second monitor using windows on macbook.

I have to use a tv (dvi) as a second monitor, anyone has tried it in windows?
    Thanks.

If your TV takes DVI input, and you have the mini-DVI to DVI cable for your MacBook, there is no reason it shouldn't work.

  • Color shift with second monitor using develop module

LR 4.1 RC2, OSX 10.6.8 - when I'm trying to use the develop module with my second monitor, the image initially looks accurate. After a second or two and before any edits have been applied, the images desaturate and look very flat. Images viewed with the second monitor in Library module look great. I can't figure out what is happening and am wondering if any others are experiencing this. Thanks.

Will be fixed in 4.1 final.

  • How can I set up a second monitor using the DVI, a mini Displayport to dvi?

    Hey guys,
In my office I'm trying to set up a mac with two displays, Samsung screensync sa450s, using a Startech MDP2DVIW mini displayport to dvi, and the DVI port found on the ATI Radeon HD 5770.
However, whichever monitor is plugged in through the mini displayport never shows video, and instead will just flicker sometimes, no matter which monitor I use, or which of the mini displayports i use. The system profiler recognizes both monitors, and has all of the specs on both monitors, but only the monitor connected directly to the DVI displays anything, even if it is the secondary monitor.
The StarTech does still work with the macpro that used to be in this spot, and the only salient distinction I can find is that the old computer has Mountain Lion, while the new one is still running Snow Leopard. Is this a case where we should just update the OS? or is there another fix?
I've also read online that many people have been not fully plugging in these mini displayports, so I'm worried that I'm doing that, but then I'd figure it wouldn't have worked when I plugged it into the old computer unless my predecessor had made some hardware adjustments.
    Let me know.

A frequent solution to problems like the one you describe involves pushing in the Mini DisplayPort cable-end.
It should be inserted until essentially ALL of the metal end disappears inside the jack on the 5770 board.
Is this display wider than 1920 wide?
EDIT:  The Startech MDP2DVIW adapter you cited is a passive adapter suitable for 1920 wide or less. You should be using ACTIVE adapters, about US$35. They cost a little more, but are much more trouble-free. The ACTIVE designation means they contain booster circuitry to raise the Voltage levels up to true DVI levels. The default converter produces good timing, but the signals are really low.

  • Second monitor stopped working on upgrade to 10.10

I recently upgraded my mid 2010 Mac Pro from 10.6.8 to 10.10.1. This upgrade resulted in the loss of signal to my second monitor. The primary monitor connects via an hdmi/vga adaptor and the second monitor uses the video card vga connection. Both monitors worked fine until the upgrade. After the upgrade the main monitor works fine. The second monitor is recognized and appears in the system preferences-Displays as well as the System Report-Graphics/Displays. Looking the other way the computer connection is recognized by the monitor. The second monitor is black screen with a no-signal message. I have checked all connections, reset the prom and tried various connects and dis-connects of the video cables and restarts all with expected results just no picture on display two. I have not yet reset the SMC because I am not familiar with any associated consequences. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Resetting SMC could solve the problem, though try reverse the connection way(main monitor connect DVI directly and second one via the adapter) could solve the problem.
What's video card are you using by the way?

  • External monitor using separate menu bars

I got an external monitor plugged in. Is it possible to run separate menu bars on each monitor? Menu bars corresponding to the applications on each monitor?

Only the foremost application's menus are visible on the menu bar. The foremost application will span both monitors.
It's not possible to have two different applications both active on different monitors.
You can however duplicate the menu bar of the foremost application on the second monitor using shareware programs. Try MenuEverywhere if that's what you wanting to do.

  • Updating images on a second monitor

I am sending 4 different fringe patterns to a second monitor using a VI whose front panel I've configured to open on that monitor.  I'm then using a camera to capture these images. This works reasonably well with the exception that I am limited to updating the image every 200 millisecs before the camera image quality begins to degrade, although not all images are affected int he same way. The resolution on my second monitor is set to 1280 x 720 and the refresh rate is 60Hz. My graphics card is an nVidia K2000 quadro.
Ideally I would like to update the image every 100msecs and still obtain acceptable image quality. Any suggestions as to how I might be able to speed up my image display and capture without image degradation?
    Thanks LW

I'm not sure that I understand your suggestion. I am using the image in the subVI to display my fringe pattern on a second monitor. I don't want to create an image of my subVI front panel or save it anywhere. The for next loop in my subVI displays my sequence of fringe patterns in the image window which is expanded to fill the whole of the monitor. My second monitor is a pattern generator in effect.
There seems to be a limit as to how fast I can update the displayed image before I start to see image corruption from the camera. As of now I'm not sure what the root cause is. It could be that LV takes some time to send the image to the monitor, maybe it's windows not responding in a timely fashion to an instruction to update the image, maybe the it's the camera, the graphics card or the fact I'm using a subVI. Given that computer games must be updating monitors at high frequencies routinely I'm puzzled as to why a monitor update rate greater than once every 200 millisecs should be causing me problems.
Is there a way that LV can write an image directly to a monitor and bypass any delay brintroduced by windows?

  • Envy 15t-J100 Problem connecting second monitor

    Hi!
So I have that problem that I want to know if someone ever had or have the answer for.
Each time I plug a second monitor using an HDMI cable, in order to get it to work I need to go to the device manager, disable and enable the Intel HD 4600 driver.
It's was OK when I used to connect the second monitor once in a while.. but now I use it on daily bases and each time it goes to sleep mode I need to do the disable/enable thing again.
Please let me know if you have any solution,
    Thank you,
    Ron.

    @Berkomb ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.  This issue may be due to a possible update from Microsoft.  If an updated driver has been loaded that is not from the HP support site it may cause a change in functionality.
You may want to try a system restore back before you noticed the problem.

  • How do I use my second monitor when first monitor in full screen??

HI.  I just added a second monitor to my mac mini lion setup and when I go full screen with an app I can't use the other monitor.  How do I fix this?  Thanks.

  • How can I use my Samsung 193p as a second monitor?

I am trying to use my Samsung 193P Monitor as my second monitor. It usually has great contrast and good color when attached to my PC. I plugged it into my imac using a DVI to mini DVI adaptor I bought at the apple store. Now it has awful color and the whites are a muddy grey. There do not seem to be any drivers to download. I've called Samsung and Apple and they have no ideas. It is at 1280x1024. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Is there a way to get the monitor communicating with my imac?? Thanks.

Thank you for the suggestions. I tried again. The thing about the Samsung 193P is that it doesn't have any external "buttons" to push for contrast and brightness. You are supposed to use MagicTune to do this, but of course, that is not compatible with mac. Without any adjustments, it usually looks great on a PC. Do you think I could use my Spyder to calibrate it with the mac? Could I only calibrate the 2nd monitor? I don't want to adjust the new mac monitor in any way. Would that be an option?

The Mac uses a highly-parameterized universal Driver for every display. The parameters are set at certain times when a query is sent to your display. The display MUST answer with its name and capabilities, or the screen stays dark. A TV set that is off or "not paying attention" because it is set to a different port when the query occurs will rarely answer, and so will often remain dark.
You can use tools in the System Report to see whether your display has been detected at all. If it has, the report will look something like this, but its name will appear:
The times when the query is sent are:
    • at Startup
    • at wake from sleep
    • when the Mac-end of the cable is inserted
    • when using the Option ( Detect Displays ) button in displays preferences
