Second Reader Window takes 30 seconds to start.

When clicking a PDF File, Adobe Reader X starts (in about 1-2 seconds).
If i leave this window open an click another pdf, the second window takes exactly 30 seconds.
Not good for workplaces who open 100 and more pdf's a day.
This problem is not fixed in 10.0.1!
Edit: This problem exits in Windows XP (not in Windows 7 64-bit)

with Version 10.1 it's fixed in Windows XP 32-bit. BUT NOT IN 64-Bit.
This is the third time we deploy Adobe Reader in our company.. and the third time we roll back to 9.x.
I'm so disappointed from Adobe.

IDE MODE:20 seconds on windows logo before start.

this problem is not by now but from I've assembled my pc(see signature).
If I set IDE mode in the bios I have to wait 20 seconds on windows xp logo before s.o. start to be load
If i set RAID MODE, and I DON'T HAVE A RAID CONFIG, there is no wait on start up and all works fine.
windows xp is installed on PATA HDD.
other 2 disks are sata1 only for storage.

Sometimes, it takes 1 minute for my system to boot and close to 2-3 minutes when install drivers and testing different hardware.

Visual Studio 2013 Publish window takes 30 seconds to load

The Publish window takes 30 seconds to load in my ASP.NET MVC5 project. Previously, it loaded instantaneously.
If i remove the PublishProfiles folder, the window loads at once. Its only after i've saved an actual publish profile this occurs.
A new empty project does not have this problem. Therefor the problem 'should' be related to the solution/project.
Some more information:
Visual Studio 2013, fully updated.
ASP.NET Web Application
.NET Framework 4.5.1
MVC 5
Any ideas how to proceed ? :-)

Do you install the VS2013 update 4?
If you publish the same app in other vs machine, how about the result?
To make sure that it is not your VS IDE issue, please also run it in safe mode, or reset your VS settings.
For the performance issue, please also think about the windows Environment like configurations or other processes.

Equium M40x-189 freezes within 30 seconds of Windows starting

My M40x-189 froze all of a sudeen while using it.
Everytime I restarted it froze again within 30 seconds of windows xp starting.
I have wiped the hard drive and reinstalled xp but it is still freezing.
I have started in safe mode and disabled all of the devices in device manager, then enabling them one by one.
It appears to re-boot ok and work fine as long as the usb host controllers are disabled.
Any advice? Is it software or hardware?
I have tried updating drivers using Drivercure but it doesn't seem to help.
Any advice greatly appreciated

I think its related to the hardware issue but we can only speculate about the faulty part
Maybe its a RAM issue I mean one or both modules could be affected.
My old notebook has frozen because one memory slot got too warm I dont know why but only one slot was affected. I changed the modules and used only one module.
This helped to solve my issue
I think you should test the RAM too.

How can I open a URL from a Custom Button in a second help window?

I have a custom button, which currently opens a URL in a web

You need to make a topic file like the one below the target
of the Jump button.
The onLoad function on the Body start-tag causes the Related
Topics command to fire when the topic file is loaded in the topic
pane. When specifying the file name of the topic to display in the
secondary window, you must always prepend it with the name of your
.chm file, followed by "::/". Otherwise, an error message appears
when the Jump button is clicked.

Multiple Screens - On Second Screen Firefox takes most CPU

Running Windows XP SP3. I have two monitors. When Firefox runs on the first screen everything works fine. When I open a second Firefox, or even just one, and try to use it the second screen - Firefox takes most of the CPU. This is a dual-core AMD system. Basically it was taking all the CPU from one of the cores.

The behaviour you're experiencing is normal. The second screen is actually a stretched version of the filmstrip rather than the real grid view. When second screen is showing a grid view the primary screen will be in loupe view (one image only). Therefore, any attempt to delete multiple images will be denied. Instead, you should get a dialog like the following, which asking to decide between remove/delete the most selected image (i.e. the master).
The workaround is to make the primary display the grid view and second the loupe view, although this approach introduces some of its own limitations.

A second browser window will not open and then closing the 1st window firefox will restart. Taskmgr shows it still running, it will not restart until I end the process in taskmgr.

I open the browser and close it every thing is fine. I open the browser and then attempt to open a second browser window, it will not open. Now because I've attempted to open a second browser window firefox will not restart after closing the open window. Until I've shut it down in the taskmgr. This just started the other day and I have removed the only update I made that was "flash" and I removed the 64 bit version of firefox.

Win 7 with iTunes installed - I was also having problems with that.
"netsh winsock reset" at the command prompt resolved all issues and Firefox launched normally.
Check to see if Winsock is corrupted. May prevent FF from communicating with the web and consequently fails to launch properly - for my situation was not a firewall or antivirus block!

But I don't have any interest in doing that.

Installed Windows on second HD (SSD), now extremely slow

I put my new SSD in the main hard drive slow and installed Windows 7. Then put it in the optical drive spot and put the original drive in it's place.
Now when I boot into Windows 7 it takes about 10 minutes and when it finally loads it freezes every few minutes.
Any suggestion?
Is there another way to install Windows? I want to have my OSX on original drive and Windows on second SSD.

I believe it's 2011 Macbook Pro.
I opened Bootcamp assistant and created Windows USB. Then it recognized that I have a second internal drive and I clicked continue. It created BOOTCAMP partition on SSD and restarted but went nowhere.
Then I read online that certain Macs don't boot off USB. So I put my SSD drive in the main hd slot and put the optical drive back. Then I booted through Windows 7 install CD and installed Windows on SSD. Everything seemed to be fine and I was able to boot to Windows.
I took the optical drive out, put SSD in its place and put the original HD back to original spot.
Now I am able to see Windows and OSX through REFIT and can boot into Windows but it is extremely slow and always freezes. I actually think that OSX became slower too.
Not sure if this was the correct way to install it so any suggestions are welcome.
BTW the SSD drive is brand new, so I highly doubt that it has issue.

I drag a video clip from Event to Project into my imovie I've started. The video clip length changes from 7.9 seconds to 4.9 seconds. How can I stop that length from being changed?

If you are using transitions either side of the clip they will use some of the clip to generate the effect, there isn't anything you can do unless you remove or shorten the transition.
If you aren't using transitions it may be that you are only selecting part of the clip in the event window, try dragging out the yellow frame to include all the video you want in the project.

Thank you very muchThere are several things that could be causing this.. Main assumption is that your JSP has coded the applet tag correctly. I'm familiar that there are multiple ways for webservers to handle the tag -- try ALL of them...
Is your code trying to access something outside of the sandbox? Then you might need to sign the jars. Is your code running behind an authenticating proxy? Not sure what to do here, it may very well be necessary to re-authenticate depending on the firewall configuration. Are you sure the jars contain all the necessary classes? If not, the applet will try and get them from the codebase. This may or may not cause a login window to popup, but just food for thought.
Have you considered using the java plug-in? Browser JVMs are different and can't guarantee you consistant functionality. Using the plug-in would guarantee consistant results. It's a pretty heavy download, but only would be necessary one time. Likewise, your applet could load much faster in that you would only need to jar YOUR classes and not the additional swing classes that the browswer jvm might not have. By the way, if you are using the plug-in and the client is behind a firewall or some sort of authenticating proxy, there are settings in the plug-in the client can adjust to alleviate problems.

Install Oracle 8i (8.1.7.0.0) Personal Edition on Windows 98 (Second Edition)

I am unable to install Oracle 8i Personal Edition on my Windows 98 (Second Edition) system. I have selected "typical" install. All the files get installed (100% complete) but then the Configuration Tool install phase fails to complete when installing Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. I get the following error message :
java.lang.NullpointerException
at DropOracle.QueryDB(Compiled Code)
at DeletePanel.InitControls(Compiled Code)
at DeletePanel.<init>(DeletePanel.java:100)
at DBCreateWizard.<init>(DBCReateWizard.java:569)
at DBCreateWizard.main(DBCreateWizard.java:1422)
The system just hangs with the "in progress" message.
The previous step -
The Net8 Configuration Assistant install completes successfully
(return code 0).
If anyone can help me resolve my problem it will be greatly appreciated.
Or if you could tell me which Oracle email address (or phone number) I should address my problem to it will be appreciated. I do NOT have a Oracle Support Licence (I only purchased the evaluation CD pack).
I have installed Java 2 (JDK 1.3) in a separate directory - but I understand Oracle 8i has its own version of JRE 1.1... in its own subdirectory structure ... so my JDK 1.3 should not be interfering with the Oracle 8i installation programs.

My actual requirement is to move the catalog database(8i) which is running on one windows server 2003 to another windows server 2003.
catalog db :8.1.7.4.0 (crman)
and we have different target databases(8i, 9i and 10g) which is using the above db as catalog db.
Here is an example:
old server name : yyyyy :
new server name : zzzzz
Under Old server we have the following oracle homes
ORACLE_HOME - 8.1.7 - which is created under the user "ora817"
ORACLE_HOME - 9.2.0.7 - which is created under the user "ora920"
and the catalog database name : CRMAN which is a 8i database but for backups it is using 9i rman executables.(because in the script for rman backup they are setting the 9i home and backing up the data's)
I need to move the same setting to the new server. I dont know how I will proceed on this. I'm in a confused state. If anyone have the same experience
please share your ideas.

I can't open a second playlist window in iTunes 11!? And no double-clicking the title bar to minimize to dock?!

Please tell me I'm overlooking something. These are two functions I use all the time. Really quite bummed about my inability to open a second playlist window, as I manually manage my playlists and I'm frequently grabbing chunks of songs and transfering to other playlists, but with some of the playlists being 1,000 songs long, simply dropping a handful of songs over the playlist name in the left column results in all the songs being at the end of the very long playlist. Not what I want.

However, I don't understand your answer.
To refresh my memory, I just now selected a jpg. image and opened it with PSE 10. When PSE 10 opened, there was my image, ready to be worked with. However, when I repeated the exact same thing with with PSE 11, PSE 11 opened a blank page and I had to go to the Open menu and reopen my image. I don't understand why this extra step is required with PSE 11.
The screen shot you suggested means nothing to me in post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4876725#4876725 as I've no idea where it comes from or what I'm looking at.
Can you provide further details?
