Secure connection failed is a

secure connection failed error msg pops up about every 3-4 minutes. it's driving me nuts- i don't have the time to keep removing this window every time it appears. i'm getting this msg for websites like yahoo, google, - hey, come on - these websites are secure. you've got some kind of problem with this security - it's too sensitive. is there any way to remove this security feature from my firefox ? i had ver 7 and thought if i updated to 8.0 it would solve the problem. it doesn't. my OS is win 7.
i also have firefox 6 installed on my other pc - it has win XP and i can't get on line with it - instead i get a "mozilla crash reporter" error msg telling me firefox had a problem and crashed
need some help here. i really don't want to go back to IE but if i can't get theses prob fixed - i'll have no choice.

Can somebody help me please! desperate for a solution, thank you.

  • Secure connection failed: The Certifying Authority for this certificate is not permitted to issue a certificate with this name. (Error code: sec_error_cert_not_in_name_space) PLEASE HELP ME!!

I have gone to this website almost everyday for years and I have not changed anything in my internet settings, but now I'm getting this message: secure connection failed: The Certifying Authority for this certificate is not permitted to issue a certificate with this name. • The connection was reset + Secure connection failed

Hello, I am using firefox on the web and I keep encountering the same error message that the connection was reset when I try to access webpages. Following the article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1024256 did not solve the problem as it only fixed it for google.com and no other website, however when I hold down shift and reload the page it will reload, sometimes in basic html. Operating in safe mode will bring up these pages in basic text without graphics.
Sometimes, it will instead show the message Secure Connection Failed for trusted websites such as news agencies.
I have disabled my themes and add-ons but the problem still persists.
I woud like some guidance on how to go about fixing this problem. Thanks! :)

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the <b>issuer of the certificate</b>.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

In FF 37.0 getting secure connection failed connecting to a website. Works fine in previous version. Config parameter version.fallback-limit default setting is 3. In previous version the default setting was 1. Does the setting version.fallback-limit to 3 mean only TLS1.2 is supported. Any help is appreciated.

    Thx,

The website may try to fallback to TLS 1.0 in a way that is no longer allowed in current releases or may be using a deprecated cipher suite.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar and use its search bar to locate this pref:
    *security.tls.insecure_fallback_hosts
You can double-click the line to modify the pref and add the domain (full domain) to this pref.
If there are already websites (domains) in this list then add a comma and the new domain (no spaces).
You should only see domains separated by a comma in the value column.

unfortunately the fiddler2 issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

  • Why with Firefox 33.0 do I get "secure connection failed" when I bring up my banking site, but it doesn't happen using Firefox 32.0.3?

The website comes up fine but "secure connection failed" shows in the space where I'm supposed to put my account number. (I'm prevented from putting my account number in that field.) This computer is running Win 7 Pro. The older version of Firefox on another computer with Win XP has no such problem with the website, nor does the IE browser on this computer.

One possibility is: Some users had problems with secure sites starting in Firefox 31 related to the new PKIX security component, and worked around it by disabling it. Starting in Firefox 33, it can no longer be disabled, and that setting is ignored.
Are you comfortable posting the address of the login page so others could see whether they have the same experience with the form?

  • I receive an error in Firefox 4.0 Beta 11: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection. Renegotiation is not allowed on this SSL socket. (Error code: ssl_error_renegotiation_not_allowed) Anyone know how to fix this?

I have installed the Firefox 4.0 Beta 11 (+updates), I try to connect to our https: website and I receive the following error:
Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection.
Renegotiation is not allowed on this SSL socket.
    (Error code: ssl_error_renegotiation_not_allowed)
I have installed this certificate on Firefox 3.6.13 and I am able to connect to our HTTPS site but it will not work with the Beta 4.0 11

I read about this for ages. I had problems setting up a certificate for my online banking. This one solution genuinely worked for me (finally!) ...Fingers crossed it will for you too:
    1) In the address bar type in '''about:config''' ...Firefox will say it's dangerous, but I just went ahead anyway lol - It's fine. Thank god there's always an edit-undo!
    2) Copy and paste this into the ''filter'' at the top: '''security.ssl.allow_unrestricted_renego_everywhere'''
    3) Then change ''false'' to ''true'' (I think I just clicked it, and it changed)
That's it! Refresh your bank page, and it should work!

  • How to resolve "Secure Connection Failed" issue

I am running Firefox 4.0.1 on Windows 7. I get the message "Secure Connection Failed" ... and ........
Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number.
    (Error code: sec_error_reused_issuer_and_serial)
I found the help info on how to deal with that here somewhere, and followed all of the steps. It would appear that the help info I followed was for an earlier version of Firefox (I was able to follow it on machine running version 3.5.15).
I deleted all the certificates involved, and went back to the page (immedieately, after quit/restart, ....) and I simpy get the same error page as I initially got.
There is NO mention of "...Or you can add an exception". I attempted to add an exception "manually" ... and got essentially the same certificate right away upon clicking "Get Ceritificate" ... the same error code is reported as was originally reported.
It would appear I am stuck in a never ending loop.
So, how do I get out of this one ?
    Thanks
PS: The affected site is actually a system internal to my company - a copier .... though I do not believe that should make any difference to the actual answer.

I should add that I can make an exception in IE, but I'd just as soon use Firefox.
Also, should add that I'm using Firefox 5.0 and all of the workarounds appear to be for earlier versions.

  • We are receiving a "Secure Connection Failed" error message when using Firefox Version 37.01. What is the remedy?

We have multiple websites that do not launch now as a result of the recent upgrade from Firefox version 36.04 to version 37.01. We received "Secure Connection Failed" error messages which indicate that the connection was interrupted while the page was loading, and that the page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please explain why this is happening, and if a fix will be issued soon by Mozilla, as everything was operating normally prior to the most recent Firefox upgrade. Alternatively, please identify browser settings that can/should be changed in order for Firefox to access these basic Internet sites (that are completely accessible using other browsers such as IE and Google Chrome). Thank you.
