Seeking compatible bluetooth phones

I'm seeking compatible bluetooth phones for my PowerBook. Where could I find them?

It seems to be rather hit or miss whether a given phone will work with the Mac. In particular you cannot assume that a phone will work just because Apple lists it as compatible. (http://www.community-media.com/wordpress/?p=161)
"I have the same phone and get the same error. But if I de-select Contacts and only choose to synchronize my calendar, it works fine. Opened a bug with Apple and they said to try and sync with a trial .mac account. Did that and it worked to .mac, but still can't sync contacts to my phone. Apple closed the bug report because it syncs to .mac. Go figure."
Certainly my Motorola will sync the calendar but not the address book, even though Apple's own website claims that it is compatible.

  • IOS 8 and Bluetooth Phone and Audio Streaming Failing

I have a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 Nissan Leaf, both with bluetooth phone integration and audio streaming support.  Both cars worked fine when I had two iPhone 5s paired to both cars and running latest iOS 7.  Both phones worked in both cars and could fully integrate to make calls and also to stream audio from device to car.
When I upgraded one iPhone 5s to iOS 8 and replaced the other with an iPhone 6Plus running iOS 8, both are having problems with both cars.
    1.  Both gave a "failed connection" message but the phones do actually pair.
    2.  Both cars show a phone handset with a line through it on the in-car display which means no connection.
    3.  The "5 bars" cell signal indicator on the in-car display no longer shows up.
    3.  Outgoing calls made from phone and put through car system work fine except for some garbled audio.
    4.  Incoming calls make the wrong screen appear on the nissan display and can not be answered by the display on the car.  Pushing the answer button on the in-car display doesn't do anything.
Lots of other tiny issues.  Apple needs a fix here.  I called Nissan and they said it's 100% Apple's fault.
Anyone else having issues with Nissan Bluetooth integration or any other manufacturer?

We have a 2008 Nissan Sentra - The bluetooth pairs ok.  When a call comes in on my 5S or my wife's 4S the bluetooth does not do anything.  The bluetooth does not ring and it does not connect to the call.  The call has to be answered on the phone.  Like I said, the phones are paired.  You can access Siri through the bluetooth to initiate a call.  Once the call is connecting, the bluetooth drops off and there is no sound.  Just like when you receive a call.  Apple needs to fix this.  This is completely ridiculous.  I WAS going to buy an iPhone 6.  I will not if this is not fixed.

  • Import photos from bluetooth phone

Is there any easy way to import photos from a bluetooth phone directly into iPhoto?
My wife has a motorola razor flip phone with camera
    PowerBook 12inch G4 with iphoto '05
To get the photos into iPhoto now, I do the following:
    1) Under Bluetooth menu I browse device (and choose her phone from the list)
    2) Navigate to her Pictures directory on her phone and copy pictures to a folder on her powerbook.
    3) Open up iphoto and import the pictures from that directory into iphoto
What I would like to be able to do is just import the pictures into iPhoto directly. Thanks.

not actually answered, but I am clearing this out of my Questions list

I just bought a 3G, GSM, AT&T compatible (i-Phone) on Amazon. I need to find out whether it uses regular or micro (sim) card. The phone has not been delivered yet.

iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS (iPhone 3 series) both use regular SIM Card.
iPhone 4 GSM and iPhone 4S (iphone 4 series) use micro SIM Card.
The iPhone 3 series can use micro SIM with special adapter.

  • BlueTooth phone software

    Hi,
Is anyone aware of an app I can use to make calls using my bluetooth phone on Mac OS Tiger? I am aware of BluePhoneElite, is there any other app with which I can use the speaker and mic of my PowerBook to make calls?
    Thanks,
    Aditya

    1. Go to MacUpdate or VersionTracker.
    2. Type "bluetooth" in the search box (you may want to also try "dialer" instead).
    3. Enjoy.

  • Bluetooth Phone Connectivity

I am getting a new cell phone and want to use bluetooth to sync with my Macbook Pro. Will all bluetooth phones sync? If not, is there a list of the ones that will? Thanks.

Apple has a list of supported devices here

But i know for a fact that the Motorola v557 (Cingular) has full bluetooth capabilities; Video, Mp3, Picture transfer and address book sync. I don't use iCal so I wouldn't know about that

  • Wanting to connect to bluetooth phone for internt access

Can anyone please help me. I just purchased a Powerbook 17" G4 and I want to use it on my vacation. I want to find out, since none of the people at the phone services think it can be done, what phone and service I can use to connect my Mac to the internet using the cell phone. If anyone can provide me with this information I would be grateful I live in St. Louis, Missouri, if that matters.
Thank you for your time in reading this topic!

Did you resolve the question? I was so engrossed in how to get the Razr3 to work that it didn't occur that I could help. I have always had a great success with sony ericsson bluetooth phones and my laptop. Until now I have had service with AT&T. The tech at AT&T had me set my PB to dial 99**1#. I clicked on the settings for bluetooth and clicked connect and the icon showed data in motion and I was online. I haven't had the same experience with Motorola unfortunately.

  • Mac compatible Bluetooth dongle - wake on Bluetooth

    Hi
I've searched for this but can't find anything specific, so apologies if it has been answered elsewhere but I can't find it...
Can anybody recommend a confirmed Mac compatible Bluetooth USB dongle please? This is to add Bluetooth compatibility to an early Dual G5 PowerMac running 10.5.8 and I want to be able to wake the computer by moving the mouse or pressing a button on the keyboard.
I've read threads saying the D-Link DBT-120 is the only one Apple confirm as compatible and will wake the computer, but only in certain revision numbers, and it doesn't seem to be available any more.
Apple sell a Belkin one in the store but there is no information on if it will wake on Bluetooth.
I have tried a different Belkin dongle which doesn't wake on Bluetooth, and a BlueNext one which used to work in my Mac but now doesn't work at all. Oddly the Belkin one works plugged into the front or back of the Mac but not plugged into the USB slots in the monitor whereas my old wired keyboard works fine plugged into the monitor...
So any recommendations for one that's guaranteed to work with my Mac and does wake on Bluetooth would be great!
    Thanks,
    Simon

That refers to Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X 10.6
I can't find anything specifically about PowerPC-based Macs running 10.5.8, but it may be worth giving that adapter a go.
If you can't try before buying, ensure you get it from somewhere that accepts returns if it doesn't happen to work.

  • Mac compatible bluetooth dongles?

I just bought an Apple Magic Mouse from an Apple Retail Store with the hopes of purchasing a compatible bluetooth dongle from there too. But, the store doesn't sell bluetooth dongles at all, weird.
I don't know what bluetooth dongles are compatible with my Mac Pro. Can anyone help me out here?
Oh, and it's also gotta be smallish too.
    Thanks xx

The only one officially recommended and supported by Apple is the D-Link DBT-120 (Rev B2 - B4)

  • Stereo Music Through Bluetooth Phones?

I found out that the iPhone is capable of putting out stereo music through the Bluetooth phones, but ONLY while you are on a call. Then I found this:
It appears that you can also engage this functionality by going to the voicemail screen and clicking on the audio source button in the top right-hand corner, then selecting the bluetooth device and subsequently selecting the iPod function and playing audio. This method does not require an active phone call.
Is this the only way to do this?
    Thanks
    Tom

Wow. I was unaware that there was any way to play music through Bluetooth headsets! I have a question for you, when music is played thru Bluetooth headsets and a call comes through does the music pause and the call comes thru the Bluetooth and then does the music resumes through the headset when the call ends. Or does the incoming call break the bluetooth connection?

  • Bluetooth Phone not Working

I recently bought an LG BlueTooth phone and am very frustrated because I can't seem to communicate with it at all through my iBook. Bluetooth works fine with my keyboard. I set up Bluetooth on the phone and the iMac found it no problem. It gave me a passkey to enter on the phone and I added it as a device without any trouble.
Problem is that I can't communicate with it at all. I have tried the following types of communication:
    1. Download/Upload with address book. Address Book doesn't even give me an option to download numbers from my phone. iSync says "iSynx cannot connect to this device" when I try adding it. I tried sending a single address card to my phone with Address Book and it said "Unable to validate device."
    2. I can't find any way to download or upload photos from/to my phone.
    3. As a modem is doesn't work either. Internet Connect says "Unable to communicate with the device."
Does anyone know how to solve any of this? I thought the whole point of BlueTooth was that it works cross platform, but it looks like OS X doesn't work with cell phones other than the iPhone or something like that. Any ideas?

LG phones are notoriously tricky to get working with Macs, not because of any shortcomings in the Mac, but because LG have chosen to ignore most of the industry standards for connectivity.
The other thing that could be causing your problem, is that many US network providers deliberately cripple the phones Bluetooth functionality to stop you from doing what you want. This forces customers to use 'over-the-air' transfers thereby making more money for the network.
Address Book needs to have explicit support for specific models for the dialling and SMS functions to work. There is no support in Address Book for ANY LG phone.
If Mac connectivity is so important, I would seriously suggest avoiding LG phones and switch to Sony Ericsson or Nokia, which both support industry standards and work great with Macs.

  • Is there a bluetooth Phone keypad available?

It would be great if I could find a bluetooth phone keypad with large buttons that I could use while driving that would eliminate the need to look at the phone while driving.  Is there one available?

Hello, there is a Bluetooth keyboard available for the iphone4S. It is made by Boxwave.com and can be bought in Brookstone stores also. It is called the "Keyboard Buddy" case. The keyboard slides out from the bottom of the case.  It works very well and there are videos about it on YouTube. When I went from my Palm Pre 2 to the iphone4S (yes, I finally said good-bye to Palm/HP...), I had to have a physical keyboard. The Keyboard Buddy is exactly what I wanted. Hope this helps you out..

  • How to prioritise connection of CAR Bluetooth PHONE system/ device over SmartBand Talk SWR30

After pondering about this device for over a month I asked my wife to gift it me for Christmas. For 3 days I really liked it, but then a critical flaw became apparent  Having not driven for a few days due to the holidays I set off in my car, only to realise that I was not receiving telephone calls, SMS and other notifications on my built-in car bluetooth system (Ford Sync by Sony/ Microsoft), only on the Smartband Talk. Doing some research it became clear that if my SWR30 was already connected with my Xperia (Z2) my Ford Sync could not connect! I realise the limitations of Bluetooth (i.e. you cannot have simultaneous connections using a same Bluetooth profile) and the workaround is to manually turn off the Phone Audio (handsfree) Bluetooth profile for SWR30 in the Z2. Remembering to turn off/ back on is proving to be irritating and too much effort. I thought I might be able to create an Event (macro) in Sony's Smart Connect app to do this automatically, but this cannot be done as the app is rather limiting! It is more important for my car system to work with my Z2 as I use it frequently and is altogether a safer and more legal way of answering calls etc. Has any one got ideas or suggestions? I really like this SmartBand (its far sleeker & lighter than true smartwatches) and I actually want the talk feature, but if I cannot resolve the car bluetooth problem (and this will probably affect all other Bluetooth car systems/ devices) easily and smoothly, regretfully, the SWR30 will be going back to the seller

As stated before, I really like the SmartBand Talk and was very disappointed to learn that it could not coexist with a car Bluetooth system! Having had a few days off between Christmas and New Year I was determined to resolve this "flaw" and am glad to report that I have and in a slick way! Prompted by "ensaro's" widget suggestion, unfortunately I did not want a toggle which had to be manually executed, it had to be automatic. So I thoroughly researched the Google Play Store, trying out many, and ended up with 2 apps which were real contenders: Trigger (by Egomotion) and Automagic (by Gridvision). Both apps basically allow you to create a trigger (eg Bluetooth Car Audio wants to connect to phone) followed by an action (eg switch off Bluetooth phone connection to SmartBand, followed by switch on connection to Bluetooth Car Audio). Trigger calls this automation task a Trigger, Automagic calls it a Flow.Trigger is fairly intuitive visually, but unfortunately support for this supposedly highly rated app seems no longer to exist! This became very frustrating for me as at times it would not run (however, it also allows a widget to be created to manually run the task manually)... therefore I dug in to the more heavyweight Automagic! Automagic uses a dynamic flowchart, where you add a trigger, an optional condition (true/ false) and finally action(s). The style reminded me of my programing days many years ago and the logical nature excited me. The possibilities are huge and may scare off some users looking for a quick result, but in fact it is really quite easy to use, especially once you undertstand some of the slightly "obscure" terminology used (after all this a German programer at work and some translation suggestions may be required). At the end of the day I created 2 flows, one to connect to the car system (via disconnection of SmartBand and then connection to my car) and one to reconnect to the SmartBand when not in car (the trigger being that the car Bluetooth is no longer connected/ disconnected). These flows are passive and apparently use very little battery power, executing when a trigger condition is matched and so far is working well. If anyone wants to see how my flows are constructed, I will be happy to email them. You open them up directly in Automagic (going to their site allows you to download a 9 day trial with up to 3 flows working)... my flows are embellished with extra actions, such as switching off WiFi and playing a sound when a connection has taken place... and most important of all there is a forum with lots of help and examples and I was really happy when the progaming author, Martin, actually replied to a query... Problem... sorted! Automagic is well worth £2.40   ...
