Selection screen with Parameter - field name not coming when made mandatory

Hi Experts,
I have added a parameter in my selection screen which has other select options as well.
I used below code in wd_initi to add parameter
    create data LR_LIFNR type LIFNR.
    WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->ADD_PARAMETER_FIELD(
    I_ID         = 'LIFNR'
    I_VALUE      = LR_LIFNR
    I_OBLIGATORY = ABAP_TRUE
    I_READ_ONLY = L_READ_ONLY ).
I have a submit button in the selection screen, so when ever the value is empty in parameter for LIFNR, system throws an error *Enter selection in Field "" * but error message is unable to take the name of the parameter?
It is expected to give as Enter selection in Field "Vendor"
This throwing of error message is working fine for another select-options for PO which is also mandatory.
What could be the error?
Any clue is highly appreciated.

1.is the data element the same in both the methods u mentioned.i,e on WDDOINIT AND ON ACTION OF SUBMIT.

2.2does the data element LIFNR has field label assosciated with it.(check in domain).
3.check adding description to the field shown as below.

How to replace the existing selection screen with new selection screen

Hi,
I have first selection screen with parametre as a table name, then I have created dynamic selection screen as 2nd selection screen with different fields of that table as select options. This is done using genaration of dynamic report. Now If I click on button on this 2nd selction screen , then I want to replace this 2nd dynamic selection screen , with the other selection screen fields.
Can anybody guide me, How to do replace one slection screen with different selection screen.
and one imp thing is this selction screen is populating with dynamic fields on it.

As I can understand you want to make some of the screen field to disable or visible on screen depending upon the interaction of user with screen 1.
You may use this example code in PBO of screen 2.

Field is not coming in selection screen

Hi all,
In one of my report there is a field customer group in selection-screen. Report is working fine so i transport request to qas in qas that field is coming on selection screen and its working fine.
But when i transport same request from qas to prd that field is not coming on selection screen.
I try 2-3 times by making diffrent diffrent request but still same result. can any body please tell me why its happen in prd??

is u have to convert the R/3 Production systems into the Quality one
try using tcode BDLS
read the documentation of BDLS.

Tabbed selection screen with AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON events does not work

I have a selection screen with 3 tabs fields on each tab have AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON field events.
If you are on tab 1 and select a variant that populates fields on all tabs and then click the execute button ABAP does not seem to recognize that the field has changed when it executes AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON field event unless you physically go to each tab.
I can work around this by:
1) moving all of the AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON field events in a AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT event. This is not efficient and it potentially opens me up to other problems.
2) changing the selection screen to remove the tabs and have all of the fields on 1 screen. This makes for a very long screen.
Is there any way to have ABAP check all tabs?

I finally got it to start. Let it sit and tried and it wouldn't but then I tried again and it did. How do I blow the dust out? I think it must be something with the heat since that comes up alot.

You have to write code in AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT event.
First of all remove obligatory from select-options declaration. Do it dynamically in AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT event.
You enable or disable the block depending upon the rediobutton selected. Then in the venet AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON field, you can check whethere user has entered data into that field or not depending upon the radiobutton selected.

Selection screen with radio button groups

hi experts,
i have 3 frames in selection screen. in first frame i have two radio buttons. if i select 1st radio button 2nd frame should be in active and 3rd frame should be disable mode. if i select 2nd radio button then 3rd frame should be in active and other 2nd frame should be disable mode. in which event i need to write the code.
can any one help me regarding this and give some sample code.

I have a selection screen with 3 tabs depicting 3 separate selection screens in effect. There are certain fields (parameters and select options) that I would like to keep synchronized between the 3 screens. Is there a neat way of doing this?

Hi Ian,
I don't quite understand as to what "synchronisation" means here.
Though anything you would want to do on a Selection Screen, can be handled in the event
<b>AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.</b>
This event acts like PBO for the selection screen.
For example, if you have parameter, P1 on Tab 1 and parameter P2 on Tab2, then to equate (assuming that it is "synchronisation"), you could code.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
P2 = P1.
Enter the value "10" in P1 on Tab1, click Tab2, P2 will display "10".
You could control this using conditions on flag variables.

       I am having problems on how to display my selection screen before the field-groups declared. How can I insert my selection-screen above those field-groups? Do i need to create a new field group for my selection-screen and how? thanks in advance! the sample code is below this message.

NOT possible. you can only append to the Std selection-screen. One option is to hide it altogether, so the user sees only the custom block...

Selection Screens
Selection screens are one of the three types of screen in the R/3 System, along with dialog screens and lists. You use them whenever you want the user to enter either a single value for a field or fields, or to enter selection criteria.
Function
ABAP programs use screens to obtain input from users. The most general type of screen is a dialog screen, which you create using the ABAP Workbench tools Screen Painter and Menu Painter These tools allow you to create screens for data input and output. However, each of these screens requires its own flow logic.
Defining and Calling Selection Screens
You often use screens purely for data input . In these cases, you can use a selection screen. Selection screens provide a standardized user interface in the R/3 System. Users can enter both single values and complex selections. Input parameters are primarily used to control the program flow, while users can enter selection criteria to restrict the amount of data read from the database. You can create and save predefined sets of input values in the ABAP Editor for any selection screen. These are called variants. Texts on the selection screen are stored as language-specific selection texts in the program text elements. If you start an executable report using the SUBMIT statement, the input fields of the selection screen also serve as a data interface.
Defining and Calling Selection Screens
You define selection screens using ABAP statements in a program. Simple statements allow you to create input fields, checkboxes, and radio buttons, and design the screen layout. If you want to create a screen exclusively for data input, you do not need to create it using the normal dialog programming tools. When you create a selection screen, the system automatically assumes the tasks of the Screen Painter and Menu Painter.
The rules for calling and defining selection screens in ABAP programs depend on the program type:
·         Executable program (type 1) without logical database
You can use a single standard selection screen and as many user-defined selection screens as you wish. The standard selection screen is called automatically when you start the program. User-defined selection screens, on the other hand, are called using the CALL SELECTION-SCREEN statement in a program. The standard selection screen always has the screen number 1000. User-defined selection screens can have any screen number except 1000.
·         Executable program (type 1) with logical database
The standard selection screen for an executable program linked to a logical database is made up of the logical database selections and the program selections.
·         Module pools (type M) and function modules (type F)
You can only use user-defined selection screens in module pools and function modules. These can have any number apart from 1000. You can only call a selection screen from a function module using the CALL SELECTION-SCREEN statement. You can also define selection screens as Subscreens and incorporate them in screens or tabstrip controls.

How to design selection screen with WAD 3.x Web Items

Hi Guruu2019s,
I have a requirement where I need to design a selection screen by using WAD 3.x web items. In the selection screen we have to include the Query Description - in the left corner of the selection screen, Name of Sales Person u2013 left side of the screen, Date from and Date to u2013 right side of the selection screen, User ID and User Name u2013 on the top right of the selection screen etc., after this on the bottom of the selection screen I have to include the pushbutton RUN REPORT.
After filling all the above parameters and click on Run Report it has to trigger another URL link which contains consolidated Sales CRM Report.
Could any one suggest me and provide me the idea on developing the selection screen with WAD 3.x Web items and is there any other interface to trigger the other URL link when I click on Run Report.

no replies. Closing the incident

Field name not known   in old existing report.

We have a report that we have used for a long time and has always been fine. Today when we open it it says data will be lost because "Field name not known".   So you click ok and look at the report in design and the report is missing a bunch of fields. You look at the Field Explorer and it only shows the first field in the table. This report links 2 tables. The linking field is the first field in both tables.
I try to re-map datasource and no luck.   I close Crystal, open Crystal and create a new report, look at the same tables and all of the fields are there. Create similar report looking at same datasource, same tables, some of the same fields, and it works fine.
What is wrong with the original report and why won't it connect or show fields?

It may be that the report file became corrupted. Do you have a back up of that report anywhere? If not you could create a new report using the same tables and links and then have both new and old reports open and copy objects from the old report to the new report. Save it and then verify it all works as it should and replace the old report with then new report. Copy the old report somewhere safe also.

at function module i want to get giving parameter field name, in here value was "W_A" and "W_B" .

If you have a fm with an unspecified parameter like

you can get some information from DESCRIBE FIELD either using INTO as above or with other options as LENGTH, TYPE ...

Check the code snippet below: Here 'XXXX' is the table for your select query.
DATA L_DS_CLAUSES TYPE RSDS_WHERE.
MOVE 'XXXX' TO L_DS_CLAUSES-TABLENAME.
READ TABLE DYN_SEL-CLAUSES WITH KEY L_DS_CLAUSES-TABLENAME
                             INTO L_DS_CLAUSES.
SELECT * FROM XXXX
          WHERE field1 IN ...
           AND   field2 ....
           AND (L_DS_CLAUSES-WHERE_TAB).
      PUT XXXX.
ENDSELECT.
You can also try using the FM 'RS_REFRESH_FROM_DYNAMICAL_SEL' passing SY-CPROG in curr_report and 'M' for mode to get the dynamic selection screen values.
