Selection variant for a report painter

Hi,
I created a report painter report. I want to create a default selection variant for a specific user. For example, I want user GIRARDJU to have company code=ADM, period 6 to period 13. I tried to create a variant and call it U_GIRARDJU but it doesn't work like it does for the standard SAP reports...
Any suggestions?

Hi,
First go to the report you have created.
Then save the selection criteria you want & give an appropriate name to your variant (eg: /INOKA).
When you execute the report next time, this variant will be there, & by double clicking it you'll get the saved information.

1. Call GR22 and click "Characteristics".
2. Check FKBER and assign a position number to it.
3. Save and close the library.
4. Call your report in GRR2 and you should now see FKBER as an available characteristic.
5. Use it in the General Data Selection or as a Lead Column, as per requirement.
Or,
1. Call GR21 and create a custom library. Provide a name and description and also provide a library you can copy from (scan for the best-fit library).
2. Now follow the steps 2 through 5 above to achieve your result.

Hi Gopal,
There is no concept of Variant in Webdynpro ABAP. But in our project we have some tool to do that. Its not release to the client I think. In my scenarieo, We create the Screen variant and program name will be supplied to the tool that will generate the ouput in PDF and Selection screen in One view. But the same is not avilable .
If you want the same concept in Webdynpro ABAP, you need to go for Dynamic programming only. This is the only option is avilable.

Variant for multiple reports

Hi Experts,
Does anyone know if it's possible to create variants that serve for multiple reports? If so, how?
I have 10 very similar reports which use the same selection screen defined in an include for all of them.

It is not possible to create variant for multiple reports as it is said as
you must create a separate variant for each report and then save it with the report where the values will be used.

How to Save Multiple Variants for a Report at a time?

Hi Experts,
I have a report in one server and I have copied the same into another server.
And now I also have to copy the variants of that report.
There are totally 192 variants for the report. So, is there any easier way to copy all those variants for the new report that I have created, rather than re-creating the variants one-by-one manually.
Note:There is no connection to both the servers. So I cannot transport them.

Basis can do a export and import transport, still if don't have connection between boxes.

How to add a new selection criteria in a report painter

I would like to know how to add a selection criteria in a report painter. I believe in Gen data we can add our selection criteria but my there is no option to select company code in that. Can anyone help me in this

hi sankar,
When u click on the Gen. Data Selection on the right side of the screen you can see the Available Characteristics.
On the same side u can see with the 3 colors blue, yellow and white....
Click on the that , in that screen click on the Administrator option.
There in that screen UNCHECK the company code.
Click on the ACTIVATE and CLOSE it.....
Again SAVE the table settings.... then you can find the Company code..

Is it possible to change values in pagination select list for a report?

The values showing up in my pagination select list for a report are 10,15,20,30,50,100,200,500,1000,5000.
Is it possible to not have this list show the 1000 and 5000 values? I've tried setting various row values in the layout and pagination section of the report, but nothing changes in the select list. Is there a way to change this, or is it set up in a template somewhere that I can change?

Figured this one out. Using the P1_ROWS item, added a static LOV with the correct values to override the one APEX was providing. The P1_ROWS item goes in the Number of Rows (Item) field in the layout and pagination section of the report.

Goto SU3, enter user name and press enter
goto parameters tab, enter parameter ID SD_VARIANT_MAINTAIN and parameter value 'A' and save.
Now check in VA05, you will get save button in active mode.

Is there a way to create a selection variant for cost element groups? Through customizing I can only create them for cost elements but not for groups!

The help just depicts how to create variants for cost elements. You actually do have the feature to display all cost elements from <u>one</u> group within the collective processing but I would need to select many different groups, which is just not possible.
Therefore I would like to create a variant of cost element <b>groups</b>!!!!!

Change Selection criteria for existing report in Report painter

Hi Experts,
We are on 4.7, using report painter for getting reports for Cost center & Profit Center. For one of the report we have selection criteria as Cost center and cost center group, but now user want us to add new selection field as Cost element and cost element Group to same report. We have tried all the options from GR32 ->Edit-> General Selection, but we don't find cost element in Key figure listed there.
Please let us know how can we add the new field to selection criteria. We also would like to know is this is possible with existing report to add new fields or not? Is that we need to create new report for this?

In my opinion the best way to troubleshoot issues like this is to go to SAP delivered standard reports and see how they are setup. For example, in your case you want to add cost element and cost element group to your report. There is one standard report from SAP - Transaction :S_ALR_87013611 which has both cost center, cost center group and cost element, cost element group in the selection criteria. You can look how this report is set up, and maintain your report in a similar fashion. Atleast this way, it will give you an idea.
Go to transaction code GRR3 and under library look for report "1SIP-001". By double clicking on the row, you will see how it is maintained.

Scenario: We use a tabbed selection screen for an ALV report. We create a variant, make a selection field on the second tab mandatory & save it without a value. When we run the report with the saved variant it does not check that the required field on the second tab is populated before it executes.

Report Painter: Create variant for specific report created

Hello,
My knowledge in very weak in report painter.
In the initial screen of a report created to analyse the budget by internal order whe have the year and the period of analysis.
By default, for every user the year is 2010 and the period of analysis is from month 1 to month 1.
My question, and I am sorry to ask such a simple question, is how can we change this initial screen?
The aim is to have for every user, when connecting the report, by default the year 2011 and the period of analysis from month 1 to month 16?

1. Go to GRR3 and identify the variable used in your report
2. Go to GS12 / GS13 and check the variable definition
May be some default value is specified there / or it is formula variable... Double click on the formula variable and you can check how it is defined...
For the variable related to PERIOD - You need to specify a different variable for the From & To and specify the default value as 1 and 16

Dynamic Selection Variable for CO report

Dear Expert,
I have created cost center report using report painter. I wanted to setup dynamic selection variant with values Current Fiscal Year and period as current -1. With this variant I wanted to generate background job, but noticed that the report which I created does not provide me option "D" but only provide me option variable "T"
I am looking option either I get option "D" or If "D" is not possible then how can I achieve above using variable type "T"?

Hi,
'D' type of variable can be assigned only to a field of 'date' format. 'Period' is not that kind of field, its format is numeric of 2 digits.

Posting date as selection parameter in COPA report painter report

we want to include the posting date and document date in selection criterion of COPA report generated through report painter.
we do not want to use period and fiscal yr as selection criterion.

First go to the program RHU_HELP and you need to enhance the code using the enhancement technique using implicit enhancement. You can add your new selection criteria at line no 257( need to create an new implicit enhancement).
