Seller not accepting Paypal

One last question before I hang up my Ebay hat permanently...I bought an item from a seller, until I attempted to pay there was NO indication this seller does not accept Paypal.  I was advised that I had to call him, after the sale, to give him my credit card information over the phone.  I did look and apparently it is OK to take credit card payments but it specifies that payment must be made through an ONLINE, SECURE PAYMENT PROGRAM network.  I wlll NOT just call up someone I have never done business with and hand over my credit card information.  I guess since I will not be using Ebay , due primarily to the GSP and all its glory, any longer that I COULD just forget about this, but that is not the way I have done business in the past and would like to no what is or is not appropriate.   Your comments would be appreciated.

No it is the cumulative effects of Ebay continually making life more and more difficult as a buyer and a seller.  Why would I want to try to sell items here when the first thing that happens is I get hit with a twenty one day hold on my money.  then they change the rules and make me fully responsible for a change of heart by a buyer and expect me to pay shipping both ways to a seller and back when he simply changed his mind? As a buyer I am now faced with not being able to even tell how much it will really cost me to get an item here with the recent changes to the listings in the US GSP program.  I can't even tell who is using the program and don't get to find out how much my purchase is going to cost to ship until AFTER I am committed to buy it.  The GSP has been decried by Canadian buyers since its inception, yourself included.  Ebays solution, hide the GSP and don't tell anyone until they are committed to make the purchase.  I recently made an effort to go on Ebay.com to try to get sellers to opt out of the GSP.  Every effort was  met by being kicked back to EBay.ca.  I appreciate that it is indeed their site, however since it is my money that is being spent, I do feel they have some perhaps very minor obligations to us.  My general perception, since the invention of the GSP is that Ebay feels Canada while probably marginally profitable is not marginally profitable enough and that they want us to leave so they can shut it down entirely.  So I am going to grant them their wish and find other sources of making my on line purchases. My original question was however, is it permitted for a seller on Ebay to send me a message and say  'don't take Paypal, call me and I'll take you credit card numbers and make the payment for you?'  I read the rules and it seems to me they are required to accept credit card payment only in a secure online payment site not ask me to give them my numbers and card info. That makes me very vulnerable to all manner of problems.  That is my concern, not leaving this nest of vipersIt's not my intention to get into an argument with you here, but to set your mind at ease. There are a few misconceptions that I can see are borne of frustration.  The 21-day hold is annoying as a seller, I agree. Some of those funds are 'supposed' to be immediately released so that you can cover postage but, for me, that never happened even if I printed my labels with paypal shipping. They HAVE to hold that money as insurance that you are, in fact, an honest (new) seller and/or someone whose account has not been hacked. The three-week wait is given so that the buyer has a reasonable opportunity to receive the item and verify it is, in fact, what it is supposed to be. You might be surprised (or alarmed) to learn how many people open accounts only to buy two things for one cent each so that they're not brand new and then start selling as much as they can get away with within their selling restrictions. We're talking big ticket items too. Items that don't actually exist. It takes about two weeks for the victim to learn it was fraud, and a few more days to contact ebay. It has to be that way, it just does. Although, I do sympathize very strongly with you there.  You aren't obligated to pay return postage if your buyer merely changes his mind, only if the item is Not As Described or Busted in Transport. If it's case of buyer's remorse, they pay to return it to you, the same as I would have to get my own butt in my car and take back a pair of shoes to Sears if they were too tight. I will concede, however, that there are buyers who have figured out the way to have the seller obligated to fund return shipping is to open a Return for the wrong reason. If you suspect that is the case, report them and call ebay. Sometimes they can help, sometimes they can't but you have to persist.  The Global Shipping Program? Just ignore it. I do. As soon as I see the 'International Tracking and Customs whatever' in the subtitle of a search, I pretend that listing is invisible. I don't need that kind of aggravation in my life. But you need to be on ebay.ca to see where it is in place. ebay.com won't tell you.  And, no, do NOT call the dude with your credit card. Like no no no not ever. Does the listing say 'paypal accepted'? Every listing that I have ever seen on ebay.com says something like this..... Payments:Credit Cards processed by PayPal

  • ITunes not accepting PayPal payment info

I've been over this with iTunes, and they don't seem interested in helping. I keep trying to set up PayPal as my payment method in iTunes and it doesn't change. It never sticks. PayPal now has a few dozen billing agreements with iTunes, clearly saying it's okay to connect. I've deactivated them and tried un/reinstalling iTunes, resetting my iPod. I can not get iTunes to hold PayPal as my method of payment. It seems that others are having the same problem.
It had worked for months prior to sometime between October and now.

I have the same issue, I'm using Safari and my itunes is running on MACOS X, so if this combination won't work we are in a real trouble, also I bought a new IPhone 4 and went I try to access App Store it ask me for verification, I check if my credit card info is correct, just at the security code, and went I hit done said that is not correct.
I have the credit card in hand, that was the reason to change to paypal, but still won't work I open a case with support, but still waiting for those 48 hrs that are right not 72 hr waiting

  • Does apple online store accept paypal? If not, where else could I purchase an iPad using paypal in Canada?

I bought an iPad 32 gb black wifi, but did not like the colour and sold it on ebay. I returned to the place where I bought it, 2 and a half weeks later (futureshop), and they said their all sold-out, so I called another authorized apple reseller (London Drugs) if they have any available, they said they do not have and if I would to like to be in their 15 page waiting list. So I thought, I'd just order in the online store since the shipping time has move down to just 1-2 weeks. But the problem is I do not own a credit card and I only own a paypal account. I still have the money that I got from selling my iPad and I'd like to use it. Does the apple canada online store accept paypal or debit card? if not, is there any other online store that accepts paypal and/or debit card in Canada? and how much does it cost to ship it? I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for any help

Can you buy one (or more) of those prepaid VISA debit cards?

    Debit card? Are you sure?
USA iTunes Store does not appear to accept debit cards - http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html  "The iTunes Store, Mac App Store, App Store, and iBookstore services (“Services”) accept these forms of payment: credit cards issued by U.S. banks, payments through your PayPal account, iTunes Cards, iTunes Store Gift Certificates, Content Codes, and Allowance Account balances."

  • Security code to ask question on eBay not accepted

When I type in security code number to ask a seller a question(to send) I get error message"please correct info(code) over and over(I put correct code number each time. Ebay tech support is claiming that it may be my browser(Mozilla) that is causing the problem of not accepting the CORRECT security code and false message that I have entered it incorrectly. It's eBay's system. How can my browser(mozilla) effect eBay's own system of accepting a security code? Whom does the problem lie with? ***note! It worked using Internet explorer as my browser. Maybe eBay is right. But I want to use Mozilla. How can we fix this?
    Thanks!

  • Not accepting billing updates.

I've been trying to update my billing information all evening. It says that credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. I did a search on the forums and the last person to have this problem didn't seem to get a sufficient answer.
One person said to delete the credit card information (choose 'none') and then return and re-enter the new credit card. I tried this. It still will not accept the new card. I tried deleting the card and entering PayPal - it did this, and let me download some songs, but then PayPal rejected the transaction and now it's saying I owe money. But I can't put in my credit card info...
So I'm in an endless loop. Helpful comments will be very much appreciated.

If it says it is temporarily unavailable, you might as well believe them.
Since you evidently possess a credit card, there are plenty of other online music download stores where you can buy songs that will play in iTunes. Try the amazon.com MP3 Download Store.

  • Why are these words not acceptable?

Following up from another question regarding the frustrating password validation, you answered back that these following words were not acceptable in one's password:
    1234
    4321
    qwert
    test
    skype
    myspace
    password
    abc123
    123abc
    abcdef
    iloveyou
    letmein
    ebay
    paypal
I understand that it'd be a problem if someone used one of those alone without any prefix or suffix with it, but WHY are you blocking it altogether? Why not allow it at least in middle of a cryptic word, like !@#$skype**&& , or ()()skype<><> ?
It seems your password validation rules just check for an occurance of those words (some of which are questionable as to why it's blocked in the first place) anywhere in the string.
Why are you making it hard for your users to come up with a password they can remember?Pretty much every other services (gmail, facebook, twitter, etc.) are equally as important and used (if not more important/used than Skype, on a daily basis) and don't enforce as much password rules and blocked words.
It would be nice to see Skype go in the direction of 2-step verification like Gmail has.
Use a simple password, bind a Cell-Phone number to it, get your temporary code via txt-message (if it's your first time on that computer / non-cached in browser), Simple!

  • Can't get iTunes Store to accept PayPal

I can't get the iTunes Store set up to accept PayPal as my payment method for iTune Store purchases.
I select PayPal as my method of payment, and am directed to PayPal web site, with the following screen shot.
From there I go to the page that I authorize PayPal as my payment method to iTunes Store.
After agreeing to this, I get a confirmation screen saying that I have successfully created a billing agreement to iTunes Store.
After pressing the Continue to iTunes Store button and trying to make a purchase, I get this. Note that I am already loged in.
After entering my password yet againand clicking on BUY I get this.
I confirm I do indeed want to buy, then get this. ( can't upload any more images )
At this point I am asked my password yet again, and am right back to the first immage shown in this thread.
I have tried doing this using Internet Explorer, anf Firefox as my default browser. I have also contacted PayPal, and they said there aren't any problems on their end.
    How do I buy tunes?

  • "iPhone is not accepting any sim card in Pakistan and showing iphone IS DISABLED"

      thank you!
    Saad Ahmad
    Lahore, Pakistan.

Im guessing you mean the iPhone 4? anyway ...
Because you brought the phone in America, It will be locked to either the AT&T network, or Verizon. These will ONLY work within the United States, and under no circumstance will they unlock the phone for international use. Unfortunatley, that means you are $500 out of pocket, and have an expensive paperweight to your name. The only way to get an iphone 4 in your country is wait for it to be released, and in the meantime, sell the one you have to someone in America.
    Hope this solves your issue

  • What happens to donation payments if they're not accepted for a while?

Hi all, I just added a donation button to my website/forum, I got a payment but it says that I can't accept it unless I get verified. In order to get verified I have to link to my bank account. Problem is I'm currently living in Georgia the country which is not supported by paypal, I tried linking my bank account in the past but it didn't work. However; I will be moving to Canada within the next two months so hopefully by then I will get a bank account and be able to accept the payment. My question is: What happens to the payment during those two months of me not accepting it? Will it still remain in my Paypal, adking me to accept it? Or will it be automatically declined after some time? Any help is apprecaited, thanks!

I guess I got my answer. "Hello MY_EMAILClaim your cash
You received $AMOUNT USD from DONATOR_EMAIL on DATE If you do not claim your money by Sep 1, 2015, this transaction will be canceled and the money will be returned to DONATOR_EMAIL's account."
