SEM business content

Can anyone give some advice on the following: SEM 4.0 has been installed on our ECC 5.0 system. In client 000 many planning areas exists, however in the working client 020 none.
How do I activate the business content in the working client?

Hi Sat,
The link you provided deals with activating Business Content in BW, but I have checked that and all cubes and queries have been activated successfully.
But I didn't mean the business content in BW, but in ECC (more specific: the planning areas in BPS).
Any ideas?

We have BW 3.5 and SEM 4.0 in our system. I am trying to find some Business Content for BPS. It seems that there is no Business content for BW-BPS. I know there is Business Content for SEM-BPS. My question is how do I get to the SEM-BPS Business Content. Is there any T-code or something to go and find the Business Content. I am trying to find a Planning area for Cost Center.
Please provide me with some details. I would appreciate any help ASAP.

Hi Nag,
The process is different to the normal BW process, instead of installing it directly on your client, you have to select the process in client 000 and then import in your working client.
The process is as follows:
1) log on to client 000 of your BW system
2) goto transaction UPB_APPL_IMPORT (in client 000 of course) and click the planning function you want to install the busines content of
3) run transaction UPB_APPL_IMPORT; this will generate a transport request
4) release this transport in client 000
5) import in the working client
Most of the planning areas are defined as remote planning areas, you will receive an error if you try to access them.
Switch to local planning areas in the planning area.
You also have to install the BW transactional cubes, this can be done using the normal BW business content transactions.

Integrated planning Content and SEM-BPS Content

Hi Experts
Is there any integrated planning Business Content for CRM? Where do I find it?
SEM-BPS has Business Content planning scenarios for CRM. Is this BC also available in BW-BPS now? Where do I find it?
We use NW04s BI and CRM 5.0.

Hello Erik,
as of now I have not heard of such content.
Also SAP is not talking about CRM-content for BIIP yet. What we have learned is that a lot effort is put into making the system stable and going for "additional" functionalities like BC later.
What you could do is use BW-Business Content for CRM as far as possible (InfoCubes etc. ) and build the Aggregation Levels, Queries & Templates by yourself.

Standard business contents are not installed in BI system

I am new to SAP Basis Team, Consultants are saying that standard business contents are not installed in BI system. What package should I install or what is the steps I should Do. Following is the content of SAINT

Business Content in BW-BPS

Short question.
Does Business Content (like planning areas and so on) exist for BW-BPS in BW 3.5 or is SEM installation required? And in that case how to review/activate it?

Hi Christian,
You do not need the SEM installation to have the business content. The business content will be available if you are on BW 3.5.
Installing business content on BPS is done by transporting it from client 000 to your working client.
You will have to log on to client 000, generate your transport requests using the BPS transport transactions; release the transport on client 000; import with SCC1 in the working client; then switch the planning areas from remote areas to local planning areas.
You will also have to install the cubes on which the planning areas are based using the normal BI business content installation transactions.

You can find this in the delivered business content under SEM > Business Consolidation System (BCS).

Installation of BI-BPS Business Content

Hi All,
      I have installed business content for BPS Business Content Cubes :
      Average Prices for Sales and Profit Planning : 0SEM_C10
   while installing the content i have made sure that "before and after data flow" option was used.
     Installation went successfully but when i navigate to Planning Workbench BPS0 I am unable to see the corresponding Planning Areas.
    Please tell how i can get the Planning areas for this content.

Hello Sunil,
BPS content is not installed when aktivating BW content, because it is a different method to be used.
I remember, that you have to go to the 000 client in your system and perform a special transaction.

we are installing a IDES BW system for customer demos, training and so on.
I am tying to activate all HR Business Content, and I began activating Personnel Administration.
Every time that I am trying to activate HR Business Contentt objects, the following error message appears:

Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "SAPLRSAOS" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
A function module was called incorrectly.
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_TYPE', was
not caught in
procedure "OSOA_UPLOAD" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
The call to the function module "RSA1_OLTPSOURCE_GET_ALL" is incorrect:
In the function module interface, you can specify only

Hi Sam,
Please check whether datasources are installed and active in the source system.
For remote activation you need role SAP_RO_BCTRA or authorization object S_RO_BCTRA in your profile.
If not active, you can activate via RSA5.
Afterwards, install the transfer rules again.
If you are lower than SPS8, check note 929935.

SEM-Business Consolidation starter question

Hi there,
It`s my first attempt in Business Consolidation, hence I`m trying to first create a Data Basis
I am referring to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem40bw/helpdata/en/67/f7e73ac6e7ec28e10000000a114084/frameset.htm and it states that I need to first create the following :-
SEM_BCS_TOTALS
SEM_BCS_DOCS
SEM_BCS_INVDTA
SEM_BCS_SUPDTA
I have checked in my Business Content and it`s not there. Please advice if I need to custom create these InfoCube/Virtual InfoCube ?
Next question would be assignment of the followings :- What exactly do I input ?
InfoProvider for MultiCube reporting
InfoObject Catalog for Characteristics
InfoObject Catalog for Key Figure
Appreciate if someone can guide me through my first steps since I it`s my first time doing Business Consolidation.

 I created a new Data Basis named Data_Basis_1.
 Selected 0BCS_C11 as Total Records Stream
 Hit 'Yes', when prompted for "Do you really want to generate the data basis?"
 Selected SEM_BCS_CHA01 as InfoObject Catalog for Characteristic and SEM_BCS_KYF01 as InfoObject Catalog for Key Figure
 and it worked magically!
 So, the next logical thing to do would be to assign the Source to the Data Basis created so far.
 According to the link below, the following needs to be done ...

 1. Create a source data basis. Enter system A as the RFC Destination. Then under InfoProvider enter your InfoCube with the planning data.

 3. Create a Load from Data Stream method and select your system A as the RFC Destination and your InfoCube with the planning data as the InfoProvider. If the structure of the planning data does not match the corresponding fields of your data model, define suitable mapping rules.
 4. Execute the new method.
 My scenario here is SEM and BW both resides in the same box. There is a logical connection to SAP R/3 to SAP BW defined
 Please advice how do I proceed here onwards ?

Error while activating the business content object

Hi guru,
We have installed a new BI system, and hence we need to activate all the business content object as they are available in delivery version.
So as there was an requirement i tryed to activate the business content object ,that is 0mat (MATNR) material number,
but once done with the installation when i try to find the object and display it
that is i select the object 0mat , context menu and say display or change it does not show the complete screen as it appears for a characterstic and gives a error
"_settings for material number conversion not found"_*
so please help me out what is the problem

but let me inform you that i already did that as i need to install this object and now the object is showing with green instead of grey,
Now my problem is that after selecting grouping and collection when i go to infoobject menu under modelling and find out the object 0mat, it shows in green , but as i need to observe the properties of this object like data type , length etc , i select the object 0mat and right click and select display,
then instead of showing me the object properties screen it gives me the error as mentioned above,
so as you say it has to be in active versoin , but i can not view the normal screen which appears after creating any object ,
now i hope my problem is quiet explanatory so please help me.

Unable to 'set the default source system' to Install Business Content

Hi,
Maars here. This is my first post hoping that in future ones I'll also be lending a helping hand.
I am trying to 'Install Business Content' under the BUSINESS CONTENT section in txn RSA1. I am doing this after 'Transfer Data Sources' in R/3 and I can now see all the data sources (under the application component hierarchy) for the source system. But I am not able to see the Info Objects in the Business Content.
When I try to set R/3 as the default source system (got this screen after clicking a icon in the standard tool bar), BW is not saving the settings ie., I set the R/3 as the default and then click on OK. If I go back to the same screen again, I find that my settings were NOT saved.
Could you please help me out?

Hi,
It seems to be a bug in version 3.5.
Do like this:
After you open the screen to choose the dafault source system
Clcik on 3rd button(F6) available in the bottom of the scrreen.
And then select teh tick mark for required system.
And then click on Continue button
You have do this step before you drop the cube to right side of the cube.
Ok, even after all these steps , if you reopen the screen you would not see Tick mark u have done just before. DONOT WORRY ABT it.
Drag and drop required cube with dat flow before.
Now you can see the Transfer rules with selected Source system only in the collected Objects.

How to activate the Info object catalog in Business content

Hi,
While trying to activate the Info object catalog, I found that some of the info objects under this catalog was earlier activated by some other developer. I brought this catalog (0SALES_CHA01) over to the Business content activation panel ( with only 'necessary object settings ) and all the info objects that also came along were de-selected since I didn't want to install those again). When I tried to install these I get an error indicating that some of the info object in question are not already active.. and ultimately the catalog doesnt get activated , although more than half of its infoobjects are already active under the '0CHANOTASSIGNED' node.
Please let me know whether I can get only the Catalog activated without getting any existing activated info object merged or installing those which are not already activated.

Hello Arunava,
Just drag the infoobject catalog as u did earlier to the left in the bus cont installation screen with "only necessary object" option.
Dont try to deselect any object. Go ahead with the default options and install in background.
Now you can check for the available objects in the catalog. if you have some objects missing, and available in unassigned node,double click on the newly installed infoobject catalog, select the required objects (which are not yet assigned to this) from the left side and bring them to the right side.
this will make the unassigned objects assigned to the required catalog.

Business content datasource enhancement

Hi Experts,
I am new to HR.
We are implementing HR modules Personnel development and Personnel administration, while I was looking into business content extractors 0HR_PA_0 and OHR_PA_1, I found that there were only few fields in the extract structure but there were many fields in the cube.Do we need to enhance the datasources? how it works?. If anybody did the enhancement to these datasources, please give me the information with examples.

No, it is no necesary to enhance standard data sources. Those datasources extract, basically employee and date. Most infoobjects in cube are calculated from 0PERSON and 0EMPLOYEE attributes, having in count the date and employed extracted, because most in HR is time dependent.

Taking too much time incollecting in business content activation

I am collecting business content object for activation. I have selected 0fiAA_cha object,while cllecting in the activation but it is taking too much time and then it asks for source
system authorisation and then throws error maximum run time exceded. i have selected data flow before there.
What can be the reason for it.

Hi ,
You should also always try and have the latest BI content patch installed but I don't think this is the problem. It seems that there
are alot of objects to collect. Under 'grouping' you can select the option 'only necessary objects', please check if you can
use this option to install the objects that you need from content.
