Sender File adapter File Conversion with key fields

Please help me guys, I already spent way too much time on this!
I checked a couple of BLOGs and I think I'm doing the right thing except I'm not getting the result I would expect.
I'm trying to create an IDoc using the from a flat file.
I get the following error:
During the application mapping com/sap/xi/tf/_MM_TEST_ a com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException was thrown: RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformatio~
The Source file is this:
H
L0015
The file adapter does create the XML below (looks fine):
  <ns:MT_SINGLE xmlns:ns="http://PPSC_TO_BO_INVOICE">
  <HEADER>
     <ID>H</ID>
  </HEADER>
  <LINE>
     <ID>L</ID>
     <SITE>0015</SITE>
  </LINE>
  </ns:MT_SINGLE>
When I test the map in IR, with the XML that this file adapter created (above) it works fine!
Also if I take away the HEADER from the source structure everything works fine and I can create the IDoc, therefore I think something must be wrong in the file conversion, the mapping is so simple there is nothing to fail there.
The file conversion parameters that I have:
Document Name: MT_SINGLE
Document Namespace: http://PPSC_TO_BO_INVOICE
Document Offset:
Recordset Name:
Recordset Namespace:
Recordset Structure: HEADER,1,LINE,*
Recordset Sequence: Ascending
Recordset per Message:
Key Field name: ID
Key Field Type: String (Case-Sensitive)
LINE.fieldNames: ID,SITE
LINE.fieldFixedLengths: 1,4
LINE.keyFieldValue: L
HEADER.fieldNames: ID
HEADER.fieldFixedLengths: 1
HEADER.keyFieldValue: H
What am I doing wrong???
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Viktor Varga

Hi Viktor,
Basic rules:
1. Down load XML payload(output From Adapter) and test it in IR mapping program. If it is working there is no reason why it will fail in Runtime. Also Check Cache is up to date.
Generally the problem lies with namespace.
Hope this helps

  • Sender File Adapter - File Content Conversion

    Hello,
    i do have a problem with the file content conversion at the sender file adapter.
    I have configured the file content conversion with key field defined
    keyfield: key
    recordsetstructure is set as head,1,item,*
    head.fieldSeparator  |
    head.beginSeparator  |
    head.endSeparator  |
    head.keyFieldValue  H
    head.fieldNames  key,....
    item.fieldSeparator  |
    item.beginSeparator  |
    item.endSeparator  |
    item.keyFieldValue I
    item.fieldNames  key,....
    When i run it like this it will not read since it has a problem to identify the key fields.
    When ever i change the whole logic to be not based on fieldseparator but on fixed length, everything is working perfectly fine.
    but this unfortuantly doesn't help as i have no fixed structure for the rest of the fields.
    also when i change the recordsetstructure to head,1,item,1 my file is also processed correctly, of corse only for the first line, it at least tells me that the file structure is correctly defined.
    Can anyone help why the identification for the keyfields doesn't work with field names and separator but in the same set up with fixed lengths ?
    thanks a lot

    Hello All,
    thanks for the helpful answers.
    So i tried Jayan tip and removed the begin Separter.
    Unfortuantly my file is really looking like this |H|...|...| for the header record
    and for the item record |I|...|...| ( this was an" I" like in Item ...
    In my opinion this means i really do have a begin seperator which is the same like the field separator.
    When i removed it from both the file and the config it started to work.
    So i wrote an java function which will trow away the first digit in this case and integrated it in my szenario.
    So that when this file is read there is no | as a begin flag anymore.
    And the whole thing starts to work, this sounds more like a bug then a feature but anyway i am happy.
    so thanks a lot

    is somewhat relevant to my requirement.
    But the problem is I have the keyfield "BATCH" for my header file but don't have any <b>key field in the data record</b> of the input file.
    Please help me out how to mention the configuration parameters.

    Hi,
    If you don't have constant key value for your detail records, then you can not directly get the required xml.
    So in this case, you can read all the records in a common Row model, i.e each record will be considered as a one row with all the values, and then split this row with Substring or java functions in the mapping.
    Even you can do this in the Adapter module .
    If you have key value for each record to identify then you can try with content conversion.

  • Dispaly material with key field customer based on tax classification

    Hello all,
    Material is classified based on tax classification as products and goods.I need to dispaly these of either for some customers.
    Client is saying me to use the table MLAN(Tax Classification for material).
    Can anybody suggest me how can i pull the material part/service part(matnr)  from the table (MLAN) based on tax classification(TAXKM) with key field customer(KUNNR) when this table does not have customer has key field in it.
    Thank you,
    Sirisha

    Hello all/Brad,
    Requirement is , i need to add and dispaly material data in a column with heading as  tax classification  in ALV Report for the customer.
    Ex:  Customer 11094 brings material 336047-B21(Product)
          Customer 10973 brings material LDMSPMAP-M (Service)
    Material is classified as per the tax classification  as Product and Service. If tax classification is 1 then it is Product and if the tax classification is 2 then it is Service.
    So i'm trying to pull the material(Product/Service) based on tax classification with customer as key field.
    Customer is coming from customer master data.
    So i have used MARA table which has all three fields (Customer,Material,Tax classification) to get the required information but the table does not have test data for customer.So i told my client to update mara table with customer and tax classification data.
    But  my client told me to use MLAN table  because they have updated the data in this table.But unfortunately this table doesn't have customer field to pull the data.
    So that is the reason, i put the above question in the forum.
    PLease help me in solving this issue.
    Thank you,
    Sirisha

  • Key field from content - Sender file adapter content conversion

    I am reading a source CSV file that has this structure. All rows in the source file are the same structure: line items of a PO. But there will be multiple POs in a single file, identified by the PO number as one column in the file.
    PONum,LineItemNum,Qty,Description
    001,1,34,Carrots
    001,2,17,Apples
    001,3,22,Bananas
    002,1,4,Mangos
    002,2,9,Coconuts
    003,1,44,Grapes
    Goal is to generate 3 messages, one for each PO:
    <po>
         <num>001</num>
         <line_items>
              ... 3 line items for PO # 001 ...
         </line_items>
    </po>
    <po>
         <num>002</num>
         <line_items>
              ... 2 line items for PO # 002 ...
         </line_items>
    </po>
    <po>
         <num>003</num>
         <line_items>
              ... 1 line item for PO # 003 ...
         </line_items>
    </po>
    Is there any way to use the Content Conversion Key Field Name to group the line items into the correct 3 messages? "Key Field Name" expects a static identifier for each type of row; but mine varies by the PO number in the content.
    Or do I need to do this in the mapping? If so, what is the easiest way to split 1 large message of all line items into multiple target messages based on the PO number? (I assume this is better than sending individual line item messages and aggregating them later, as long as the file size is OK.)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Robert,
    If ur goal is to split into 3 messages one for each PO, you can go for message split and using graphical mapping you can achieve that.
    Within the message mapping go to the tab Messages.
    Change the occurrence of the target message to 0..unbounded.
    Also this link may help you.

  • Sender File Adapter. Fixed Lengths and Field Separator

    Hello guys,
    I have a doubt in Sender File Adapter with Content Conversion.
    I have a text file like:
    a,b,c,,e
    I have the configuration in the adapter:
    Register.fieldNames: a,b,c,d,e
    Register.fieldSeparator: ,
    The question I have is can I format the length of the text when i create the XML?
    I woul like to create the XML like:
    <Row>
      <Register>
        <a>a   </a>
        <a>b  </a>
        <a>c  </a>
        <a>   </a>
        <a>e   </a>
      </Register>
    </Row>
    I would like that when I create the file in Field A I have length = 4, but I have only 1 in the entry, and I want to fill the rest of the length with spaces.
    I tried with FieldFixedLengths but when I test it the fields are not being formatted and take the commas as part of the field.
    I know that this can be done in Receiver File Adapter, you leave for example one field of 5 length and you format it to 12 length with spaces.
    Is this possible for Sender File ADapter?
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Xavi.

    hi,
    See the example given in this bog, in this blog the string has been splited into different fields as per the field length, so you may use the same concept to get your output.

  • JDBC Sender/Receiver Adapter Configuration with key fields in SAP XI

    Hi All,
    Good evening.
    Please let me know, what are the settings required for key fields when configuring both sender and receiver Adapter?
    In My IDOC-XI-File Scenario, when i am sending an IDOC from R/3, I got Mapping Runtime exception error? So, How to send the same IDOC after correcting the error?
    Thanks to all in advance.
    Regards,
    Nagarjuna.

    HI Nagarjuna,
    If my understanding is correct, When you trigger the Idoc from R/3 it thrown the error in XI.
    If  you want to send the same Idoc then go to WE19 in R/3 system enter the same Idoc number and execute the scenaio. It send the Idoc to XI system, but the message number will change.

  • Sender file adapter, file existence check in archive folder if exists rename the same and proceed with current file

    Dear SAP Gurus
    Interface flow:
    File --> File and RFC.
    We have a requirment where PI needs to check the file existency in archive folder and if there is a file already exists with same name we need to rename that file and archive the current file as is...
    Note* Customer don't want to add time stamp!!!!
    For ex today first message processed with file name "UBMO_delta20140626.xml" and archived as is- UBMO_delta20140626.xml
    and customer sends a second file on the same day with same name(UBMO_delta20140626.xml) in this case before archiving PI needs to check whether there is a file exists already in archive folder or not if there is, then it should rename the same like(UBMO_delta20140626_1.xml) and proceed with current message processing and archive the same name(UBMO_delta20140626.xml).
    Many Thanks in advance...

    Hi Nagesh,
    I think you can use the feature of run operating system command before message processing. you can refer the below wiki for information.

  • Sender File Adapter-Content conversion for a tab delimited file

    Hi all,
    I have a FIle to IDoc scenario, where the File is with the structure Header,Detail,Trailer.
    Header and Trailer are with fixed field lengths, whereas the detail records are tab delimited.(Functional spec says delimited by H'05').
    I have given the parameters as follows:
    Header.keyFieldValue     H
    Header.fieldFixedLengths     1,1,4,1,8
    Header.fieldNames     a,b,c,d,e
    Header.endSeparator     'nl'
    Detail.fieldNames     a,b,c,d,e,f
    Detail.fieldSeparator     '0h05'
    Detail.keyFieldValue     LOA
    Detail.endSeparator     'nl'
    Trailer.fieldFixedLengths     1,1,8
    Trailer.fieldNames     a,b,c
    Trailer.keyFieldValue     T
    ignoreRecordsetName     true
    In SXMB_MONI, I get the payload with just the Header and Trailer and not the detail records, even though my file has so many records in it.I m pretty sure, this happens because of my Detail.fieldSeparator parameter.
    Can anyone please help me with this?What is the correct value for this parameter?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Anjana.

    first of all make sure with a hex editor that the hex code of the delimiter sign is really 05. This is an odd character, as the normal tab is hex 09.
    when you have confimred it, check online help for file adapter config for the correct entry of hex codes. I think it is something like '0x05',

  • Sender file adapter - content conversion question

    Hi all
    We have a .csv file to be passed to XI that has column headings as well. Is there a way of stripping the header using "Content conversion". We declared the RecordsetStructure as "header,1,item,*" but then it needs a keyFieldname and identifier which is obviously not available as the first line only has column headings.
    Hoping for a reply soon.
    Thanks
    Salil

    Salil,
    In RecordsetStructure you define as header,1,item,9999999999. But if you have more than 9999999999 records then the extra records after this will come as a second file.
    If you expect more item records then increase the number of 9's. Then we dont need to give the key field.

  • File content conversion without key field

    Hi,
    i have a input file with the following format:
    posvalue1;posvalue2;posvalue3;posvalue4
    posvalue1;posvalue2;posvalue3;posvalue4
    posvalue1;posvalue2;posvalue3;posvalue4
    posvalue1;posvalue2;posvalue3;posvalue4
    posvalue1;posvalue2;posvalue3;posvalue4
    footervalue1;footervalue2;footervalue3
    footervalue1;footervalue2;footervalue3
    i just need the information from pos lines and the footer is not needed. the only indicators are:
    the empty line between
    the number of fields
    maybe i could use the keyfieldvalue:
    in posvalue2 i have only numbers (diffrent) in footervalue2 i have only chars (diffrent)
    has anyone an idee?
    regards
    J.

    Hi
    yes you have to use the key field value as the posvalue1.
    if you do not want the footer informatuion in the target side then inthe grahical mapping do not map footer fields with the target structure.
    to convert the text file into XML file you can use the following parameters
    RECORD.fieldSeparator :;
    RECORD.fieldNames :KEY,FNAME,LNAME,AGE
    RECORD.keyFieldValue :1
    DETAIL.fieldSeparatr :;
    DETAIL.fieldNames :KEY,SALARY,EMPID
    DETAIL.fieldNames :2
    Note:these parameters are accoding to the structure given below.
    suppose you have a structure like as below
    data (0..unbounded)

  • File Adapter - File Content Conversion to XML last element missing

    I'm using the SAP File Adapter with File Content Conversion to convert | (pipe) delimited records into XML.
    When the last field is blank, I would expect that an empty node gets created, however, the node doesn't get created at all.
    For example given these settings...
    Record.fieldSeparator = |
    Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
    Record.fieldNames = FIELD1,FIELD2,FIELD3
    Using this three record file as my data...
    |123|XYZ
    ABC||XYZ
    ABC|123|
    When converted to XML, this is what the recordset XML structure looks like...
    <Recordset>
    <Record>
    <FIELD1 />
    <FIELD2>123</FIELD2>
    <FIELD3>XYZ</FIELD3>
    </Record>
    <Record>
    <FIELD1>ABC</FIELD1>
    <FIELD2 />
    <FIELD3>XYZ</FIELD3>
    </Record>
    <Record>
    <FIELD1>ABC</FIELD1>
    <FIELD2>123</FIELD2>
    </Record>
    </Recordset>
    Notice that the last record is missing the "FIELD3" element.

    That did the trick.  It was a typo.  Thanks Giuseppe.
    I'm willing to bet that this parameter was added to fix the parsing bug without breaking existing users that had already worked around the original bug.   You shouldn't really have to special case the last field.
