Hi Retha!
Yes, you should be able to do this. Use the Export command in the File menu of iMovie, and you will see that Camera is one of the options.

  • Send Video Out via Firewire 800?

I have a macbook pro that has a firewire 800 port on it
i also have a video switcher for video productions that takes a firewire 400 input as a video source
    i own a firewire 800 to 400 cable.
is there any way to get video to send out of the macbook pro to go into the video switcher?
when i connect the cables, nothing happens.
    please help!

I had forgotten I'd posted this and I need to make a clarification.
At the time of this posting, I'd been assured by Blackmagic Designs that Color would preview externally through their Intensity Pro card although in 8-bit video. Since the time of this posting and upon further query with BM tech support, I was told the Intensity Pro could not be used in this function.
Sorry if there has been any confusion caused by my statement.

  • Video out via firewire

Is color capable of outputing preview video through my DVCam deck via firewire? The option in the video out preferences seems to be grey out as are the other options in there.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Does iPhone do Video Out via video cables?

I can't find any reference to this in the iPhone user guide, so I'm guessing it can't, but I thought I'd ask here.
Can iPhone send video out to an external TV using the iPod Video Connection Cable?

    This might help.

  • Timed video out through firewire?

    Hey everyone,
In Final Cut Pro 5, is there a way to set print to video on a timer? For example, print to video on Friday at 2PM.... Or simply, just play the entire video in the timeline at a specific time?
I'm assuming not, so does anyone know of any program out there that can play Quicktime videos out through Firewire on some kind of timer system?
I know this is an unusual request... and I can explain why exactly I want this if anybody wants me to, but it's kind of a long story =)
    Any suggestions would be great!
    Thanks,
    Dean.

You can easily set up an Automator script to work with an iCal event...
use the script for PLAY MOVIE instead of record new video that I used here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/captmench/QTAuto.swf
The video was done in haste... and there are a few errors in it... but you'll get an idea of what to do.
    Good luck,

    Harm Millaard
yes, my audio settings are correct. I have no audio and no video output for Firewire, when I play the timeline. My VCR only receive a signal, when I use export to tape. In Premiere CS3, I could monitor through my VCR, which will be in CS4 does not have this function, as occurs with the matrox rtx2, with respect to RTX100. "The play only works for the VCR, when used export to tape ????????????

  • Any chance of syncing my 5G video ipdod via firewire ?

If I was to get an older ipod firewire dock, and use the included adapter plate, can I sync (and charge) my 60G ipod/video via firewire ? I am running out of USB ports and don't have room for another hub, it's a pain plugging and unplugging. I do have an unused FW 400 port. Any advice would be appreciated, I do realize it is not officially supported. But will it work, has anyone tried ?
    Thanks.

OOPS ! Wrong forum, I see my question is being rather hotly debated in another forum here. I am guessing the answer to my question is NO ! Sorry for the mis-post.

  • External (interlaced) video monitor via firewire?

DSP offers the option of previewing a project on an external (interlaced) videomonitor. But only through an s-video port, which my system is not equipped with... Is there a way to route the preview via firewire? If not, what other options are available?

Please don't take the following as contradictory with your wish, but the truth is that monitoring DVD content over Firewire DV wouldn't be a reliable way, since you would be looking at DV compression on top of MPEG-2 compression instead of a "final result". This may seem like exquisite semantics, but remember that DV NTSC has a 4:1:1 color grid and NTSC DVD is 4:2:0. You would get a very significative reduction in color information. It may or may not be "close enough" for your liking, but it wouldn't be really accurate.
Strange as it may seem, uncompressed boards (like AJA or Decklink) would be the ideal way. Because in this case uncompressed would mean no additional (or different) compression on top of the already compressed MPEG-2 streams.
But yes, both things should be possible. Ideally, MPEG-2 through uncompressed component or SDI. And Firewire DV as a quick and cheap workaround (amazingly, though, Decklink uncompressed I/O boards are cheaper than most DV gear!)
Did you guys send an enhancement request for this through the DVD Studio Pro feedback page on Apple's site? I did that with both hands

  • Why can't my iPhone 4S send video messages via text? it only does so thru iMessage, amnd i can only receive them from my friends iPhone, but can't send any bk.

it only does so thru iMessage. My friend (with another iphone) sends me video thru text message (not imesage) but my phone doesn't send videos thru. i already restarted the phone twice..... anyone know how to fix this its frustrating the heck out of me

It might depend on how long/large the video file is.  I'm not sure but there might be restrictions on the size of the file you plan on sending via sms.  Are you able to send send those same video files that you received back to your friends?

  • Is there a way to send video out from and iPhone 5 to 30 pin connector??

My iPhone 4S could send video to my Audi MMI, and control it within the car It WAS PERFECT, I could get my GPS to show in the car without ANY hack! everything legal. iPhone 5 with Lightning Adapter just wont. Please help me with a work around.
This way, I can get Waze to show up on my car Screen. It would be great when Apple gets IOS in the car. But now, I only found that it is possible with a Lightning to VGA or HDMI cable and and Audi AMI cable with those imputs, but that way it is impossible to control the iPhone from the car/wheel.
Please help!! I was thinking of a Lightning to USB adapter, then a USB to 30 PIN and then a FEMALE-FEMALE 30 pint adapter...... I dont know! Hope apple with come up with something, is very dissaponting, Have every single iPhone from the first one and now Apple is letting us down.
    Thanks!

The 2005 iMac iTunes says it's 10.6.1 and I don't think that model will upgrade to any newer version of the OS or of the iTunes.  Once I upgrade the 2008 iMac to the 10.7, will I be able to access the 2005 iMac playlists through the home sharing on my 2008 iMac, and will the iPhone be able to download songs/playlists from the 2005 iMac via the home sharing?

  • Keynote not sending video out on my ipod touch 3gen.

Im using the av cable. It works great with the photos app, i can see the photos slide show in the projector. But it looks like keynote is not recognizing the cable or something else, it just dont sends the video out. Is there any setup that I'm missing

I'm having a similar issue but different. If I download a video podcast on my PC in iTunes it downloads fully without an error but when I goto my podcasts in iTunes it only shows me my audio podcasts.
I have tried downloading video podcasts on my iPhone and they download and play correctly in the video app but when I sync my iPhone to my PC in iTunes the video podcasts don't get imported from my iPhone but the audio ones do.
Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it?

  • No Audio When using Video Out to Firewire

I do not get any audio when I use Firewire ntsc as my video out. When I set video out to canvas playback then I get audio. I want to use print to video but I cannot because the audio will not work with Firewire. I get the image on my external monitor but not the audio. I checked to make sure and the audio was not on the recorded dvd. I cannot not use print to video with canvas playback.
My Easy Setup is Format: NTSC, Use DV NTSC DV Converter. I tried using Firewire basic and got the same results.
    Please Help
    Ken

The audio does not play at all from the timeline if video out is set to Firewire. To answer your question, no the audio does not play in the external monitor when playing back from the timeline when Canvas is used as the video out. However, I don't believe the converter box is the problem. The audio would play in the internal speakers when using firewire as video out but it does not.

  • MBP not detecting video camera via FireWire 800

    Hey all,
I bought a MacBook Pro late 2008 mainly for video editing. Also, I purchased a 3rd-party FireWire cable because Apple doesn't distribute them here in Singapore (-_-).
I've tried many times to connect my 2 video cameras to my Mac and NONE of them turn up in iMovie. It can't possibly be the cable because the store sells them to many people because Apple doesnt distribute them and none came back complaining it doesn't work. And us Singaporeans will go to lengthy methods to get back our money if products we bought don't work.
My 2 video cameras are both Panasonic and they are
    NV-GS90
    NV-MD10000
The first one is a small one while the second one is a professional camera.
If the cameras can't connect then my whole purpose of purchasing the Mac is defeated. I called Panasonic and they said that it should work fine with the Mac, no drivers needed (Applecare told me to check with them for drivers).
Anyone can provide a solution? T-T

While you were in the store, did you connect any other FireWire devices to your computer to find out whether or not your FireWire port is working? You should certainly do that at the first opportunity, now that you've effectively eliminated a bad cable as a possible cause of your problem.
You may also want to run the Apple Hardware Test that you'll find on one of the discs that were shipped with your MBP. That may be able to identify a problem with your FireWire port.
Apple generally doesn't make or sell cables — there's not enough money in them. Apple leaves that market to third-party vendors, who supply them at lower prices than Apple could or would. And FireWire 800 is far from new: all or most new Macs have had FW800 ports for more than five years now.
