Sent mail keeps showing up in Drafts folder

Recently, the mail I send out shows up in my Drafts folder even once I've sent it. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

the only thing i can think of is while you have mail open select mail in the upper left near the  select preferences>accounts>mailbox behaviors and uncheck save drafts on server for both accts

  • Deleted mail keeps reloading in my Drafts folder.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, my email keeps putting old deleted messages (usually the same 5 messages) in my Drafts folder. I delete them there, but they just keep coming back. Anyone know how to fix this?
I am running Mavericks on my MacBook Pro with Mail 7.3.

Deleted mail can reappear if the folder has not been compacted frequently.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
'' If you don't compact your folders regularly, performance can slow to a crawl, you can't store new messages anymore, start losing parts of messages or have deleted messages resurrected.''
Suggest you move all good emails out of Inbox to other suitable folders for organising.
Then delete all emails you do not want.
then right click on Inbox and select 'compact'.
    Then empty the Deleted folder.
Also Empty and compact the Junk folder.

  • Sent Messages in Mail are being Stored in Drafts Folder

    Hi,
This does not happen to every message only some, but it happens to really important messages - I'm a freelance writer and it happens when I'm sending a resume or talking to a client.
When I hit send, the message shows up in my sent mail as being sent, but it also remains stored in my drafts folder. Sometimes I send a message and it shows sent and then a day later, that same message is in my drafts folder. A couple of times, even though they ended up in my sent folder, the recipient did not receive the message. Sometimes they receive them sometimes they don't, but I never know.
Can someone explain this and help me resolve this issue? Has this happened to anyone else?
    Thanks.
    IMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Staci.
If Mail put the message in Sent, that means
the outgoing (SMTP) server told Mail that the message
would be delivered. If the message never reached its
destination, it could be because the SMTP server
didn’t fulfill its promise or because the message was
filtered out by either the recipient’s incoming mail
server or the recipient’s mail client for some
    (probably spam-related) reason.
The fact that Mail sometimes fails to remove the copy
of the message from Drafts after sending it is
a glitch that has nothing to do with whether the
message was received or not, and appears to happen
only with IMAP-type accounts configured to store
    drafts on the server.
So what type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP,
.Mac)? If IMAP or .Mac, what are your Preferences
Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors > Drafts settings?
    Hi,
I use .mac for email and I prior to writing, I checked my preferences and made sure to uncheck "store drafts on the server." I'll see how that goes. Thank you though for answering my question.

  • SMTP sent mail not showing up in sent mail folder

    Hello,
    Setup:
    Exchange 2010 SP1
    Outlook 2010
C# for sending mail, or Pentaho Kettle
Not really sure how to explain, but I have the following scenario:
Automatic programs send email using credentials (an active username / password on the domain. account linked to a mail box).
    Mail gets sent.
Mail does not show up in the sent mail folder of the account
I was wondering if there was a parameter on the Exchange server to configure so that the email sent via SMTP would show up in the sent mail box of the account.

  • Sent mail not showing in folder

    Greetings,
Our Mac has three email accounts. For the last two days, one of the accounts does not show sent mail in the sent folder. The other two accounts are working properly. I have reviewed the MobileMe settings and the Preferences on Mac Mail and can't find the issue.
The accounts are all MobileMe (IMAP) accounts and accessed via iPad, iPhone and Mac, but no device is showing sent mail since Monday.
    Any suggestions?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Mutt/Offlineimap Sent mail is showing up in Gmail Inbox

    Hi,
I am just starting my journey with mutt and quite like the interface thus far but I am having trouble with sent emails showing up in my Gmail inbox.  It is a little annoying to always have my sent emails appear as unread in my inbox.  In my search for a solution I have found that this behavior sometimes occurs if you have Gmail filters that are set to never send to spam, I checked and do not have any such filters.  This could also happen if I had $record set, but I have specifically unset record.  My muttrc and offlineimaprc are as follows (I used several tutorial sites to help create these) (I have hashed out some personal details):

I use msmtp to send the emails (and they do send) but as far as I know that program should have nothing to do with my folder labeling.
What happens exactly:  When in mutt, I press 'm' and compose an email and send with 'y'.  Oddly enough, the email appears in my gmail inbox (the webmail) even before I sync mutt with offlineimap (I don't automatically sync).  Once I sync, I see the email in both my sent mail and inbox.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated

You have unset the record variable.

  • Unwanted messages showing up in Drafts folder

Hi there. I've been having a problem for a while now, and when switching computers it followed me, so I figure enough is enough. In Mail, I have old messages, both ones that I've sent and ones I've received, showing up in the Drafts folder. I can go in and delete it (only one shows up at a time), but as soon as I click out of the Drafts folder, another one appears.
It's not really a life-threatening problem, obviously, but it's kind of obnoxious. Any ideas? I saw in a couple of other posts that it was possible to go into the Preferences and uncheck something in Accounts/Mailbox Behaviors that had something to do with Drafts, but I don't see anything in there.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff.
There is a kind of index corruption that causes messages to randomly appear in a mailbox different from where they’re supposed to be. The most amazing (and apparently also the most common) variant of the problem is the messages appearing in Outbox, which causes Mail to think they’re waiting to be sent and dutifully proceed to try to send them. It looks like the “destination” mailbox is Drafts in your case, but the problem is almost certainly the same.
This is not to be confused with the problem of a copy of sent messages remaining in Drafts after having sent them, which apparently only affects IMAP accounts set to store drafts on the server, and which can by “fixed” by telling Mail to store drafts locally instead.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • 2 messages keep appearing in my Drafts folder

Over the past few weeks, Mail keeps adding 2 draft messages to my Drafts folder. They are both messages that I had one time saved as drafts but have long since finished and sent. If I delete them, they come back within a day. If I rebuild the mailbox, it makes no difference.
    Any ideas?
    Tom

While you are composing a messages Mail saves a version of the message in Drafts. It's supposed to remove from Drafts after sending but often it does not. You can set Drafts to be stored in the "On My Mac" Drafts folder to get rid of the problem, but you loose the ability to store the message in Drafts for access on another computer.
You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files. This can often fix odd issues like this.
OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo) 831.81 MB

You need to report it to Apple Feedback so it can be logged and put in the queue to be fixed.

  • Sent mail not showing in sent box

The last few days emails that I send through my Yahoo account seem to sit in the drafts folder after I hit send and not move over to the sent folder. Lately they are not appearing in either box, yet the recipients are receiving the mail.
Sometimes the emails just stay in drafts no matter what I do or how many times I resend. And yes, the recipients are receiving multiple copies.
If anyoe has experienced this or can offer assistance I would appreciate it much.
    Thank you,

Thank for the tip. the server appears to match and it is in fact online.
Still having the same issues. I appreciate your help.

  • Email sent from ActiveSync Device Goes to Drafts Folder

Issue: Sending an email from an activesync device (Android using native email app or iPhone) moves the sent item to the drafts folder in Outlook without actually sending the email.
Scenario: Outlook is open on the individuals workstation and they are not in cache mode.  Individual sends an email from the activesync device and the email is in the drafts folder in Outlook and message is not sent.
Placing user into cache mode resolves this issue.
Having Outlook closed resolves this issue as well.
    Environment: Exchange 2010, Outlook 2007
The research I have completed on the internet points to CRM but I have verified there is no Outlook add-in for CRM installed.
    Has anyone else seen this?

Has anyone else seen this? I have one user that is on Exchange 2010 and is using an iPhone and iPad and
was experiencing this issue. We were able to resolve it by exporting his mailbox, deleting it and recreating. It was working for about a week and now the problem has reoccurred. Anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this? We haven't gotten anywhere with
    Microsoft.
Note: When this problem is occurring, the same issue happens in Outlook Web Access. Sending a message from
OWA also sends the item into the DRAFTS folder and the mail is never sent.
We do not use MS CRM btw.

  • A lot of my normal mail keeps being filtered to rubbish folder.

I move the mail to my normal inbox and the same recipients mail keeps filtering to rubbish all the time. How do I fix this?

Are you referring to mail being marked as spam and moved to the Junk mailbox?  If so, your spam filter is, for whatever reason, considering legit e-mail to be spam.  Go to the Junk mailbox, select the mis-marked messages and click the Not Junk button.  If you keep doing this, Mail's spam filter should adjust eventually.  You could also go to Mail -> Preferences -> Junk Mail and make sure that it is set to exempt messages from people in your Address Book, and make sure that those senders are in there.  Alternately, you could just reset the spam filter and start re-training it from scratch.

  • BCC myself but sent mail not showing up in Mail

I have a BlackBerry. There is a setting where you can BCC an address for mail sent from the BlackBerry so you can have a copy of what you sent on your regular mail client. I've had this configured and it worked flawlessly with other POP3 mail clients I've used. Basically, the sent mail would be retrieved via POP3 as a regular message with the "from" and "to" fields intact. This is fine, and I don't care about being able to see "BCC" recipients. My problem is that Mail seems to be recognizing that the "from" address is the same as the "BCC" address and is getting rid of those messages for me, or ignoring them on the POP server. I thought of a few things, but none seem to be true -- My spam filter (SpamSieve) is not detecting the messages as spam. I also thought that perhaps Mail is doing something nifty like automatically moving the mail into sent folders. However, that's not true either. I also did a few different searches to see if my sent messages had come down somewhere and I was just missing them.
So now I'm stumped. Is Mail making decisions for me behind the scenes? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Bmoua,
What client did she use on the temporary computer? Outlook or outlook app or OWA?
If she used outlook, it may download the sent messages to the local pst.
In addition, I also recommend you use message tracking log to check if there are any messages had been sent out when she used temporary computer.

  • Can you get sent mail to be saved in the folder of original message?

Anyone know if this is possible in mac mail? if not how do i request a new feature, can't seem to find that on the support site either.

I am not sure why you would ever want to do this? Mail provides a Reply indicator from which to see any reply, and furthermore via either Rules or Smart Mailboxes can provide to either move or view messages in various On My Mac mailboxes and/or groupings.
The short answer is no, if you mean in the original Inbox, since Mail in EACH account provides separate xxxx.mbox folders (mailboxes) for Inbox, Sent, Trash, Drafts, Junk, and communicates in particular with the Sent mailbox to store messages you have sent, but not until AFTER the SMTP has communicated the Message ID# that has been assigned the message you sent.
You can certainly move both messages and received into other mailboxes that you create (with POP accounts, these will be On My Mac, with IMAP accounts can be folders on a server) to associate them. I do this routinely with a few subject/relationship areas.

  • Sent mail not showing up on server

If I send something from an IMAP account on my iPhone it doesn't show up on the server and the same in reverse.

When you have a question about you iPhone you might get an answer sooner if you post it on the iPhone section.  I can give you an OSX answer.  In Mac Mail > Preferences > Mailbox Behavior, for iMAP accounts there is a Sent option to store sent messages on the server.  Should be something similar on the iPhone.
