Sequence explodes when dragged onto timeline (Premiere CC)

I am using Premiere Pro CC
When I am dragging a just-created sequence (by nesting clips) back to the timeline or any other timeline, all the clips appear separately, and not as a single object (the nested sequence).
Is that new behaviour in Premiere CC or is there a setting to control that behaviour?

Hi
Great function. But there's one little trouble i'm getting here...
Film was shot in double-system. I synced all shots with audio using Select all > make multiclip > based upon timecode > renamed my multiclips (shot-scene-take).
But when i drop any of those multiclip in a timeline, wether the "Insert and overwrite sequences as nests or individual clips" button is toggled or not, i get the original source name for the video (A001_C01_xxxxxx), not the renamed "shot-scene-take" name.
I noticed that for regular sequences, when toggled, the function will allow to keep sequence's name... Any way to keep this for a multiclip?
thanks

Premiere Pro Timeline with 3 video channels and 4 audio channels, when clip dragged onto timeline audio channels change to 8 channels. Audio track mixer changes too. I edit undo to remove dragged clip and it reverts back to 4 channels of audio on timeline as does the audio mixer?  Any ideas as to why the audio channels and mixer changes?

you can check the clip you are dragging to the timeline, if it has 8 tracks... can check by right clicking it in the project bin, choose modify, audio channels.

I did not nest any clips or sequences, premiere just seemed to combine the clips under one name when I moved them to timeline.

  • Weird Screen Re-Draw When Dragging on Timeline

Just downloaded the trail of Premiere Elements 10. My first experience with it was dragging media from my project into the timeline and the screen re-draws in this amazingly buggy way. I see the same behavior any time I try to drag any item on the timeline. I took a few screen shots to demonstrate what I mean. The timeline becomes completely unusable and obscured while the program re-draws the top of the interface over it. System is a MacBook Air Core i5 running OSX 10.7.3 with an external monitor. I've tried re-starting the app with no change. With behavior like this, it's pretty much unusable.

The red lines above the clips on your timeline is an indication of a mismatch between your video source and the project settings -- which likely also accounts for the buggy re-rendering issue you're having.
What model of camcorder did this video come from and what resolution and format is it?
When you started your Premiere Elements project, which project settings did you select?
Parts 1 and 2 of my free 8 part Basic Training tutorial series shows you how to set up a project and properly get media into it.

  • How to set up so that 1920 x 1080  h.264 files don't need to be rendered when importing onto timeline

Is there a way to set up final cut express to default to the proper settings so that 1920 x 1080 h.246 mov files don't have to be rendered when dropped onto the timeline? It is really not efficient to work on something when it takes hours to render. Thanks

    Thanks Tom,
Is it the same in fcs? Or does fcs have the capacity to import without render to timeline?
    Appreciate the reply.

  • Clips automatically lengthened when dragged into timeline

    Hello,
I'm new to FCP X, just as I am with video editing so please forgive my noviceness!
When I drag clips from the Event Library into the Timeline(?) (The bit at the bottom, where you arrange the clips) they are automatically made longer. For example, one clip has a length of 54 seconds in the event library, but when dragged into the timeline, it has been stretched to 56 seconds. I'm trying to match a band's studio recording footage to the finished audio and it is impossible when the clips are slowed down (and subsequently lower in pitch).
Is there a setting I need to know about to prevent this? How can I fix this problem?
    Many thanks

If you mark the 'In' and 'Out' points and then press the 'E' key, the clip should be added to the Timeline exactly as marked in the Event Library.
Press 'Q' to add it above the Timeline as a Connected Clip at the Skimmer or the Playhead position.
Press 'W' to insert it into the Timeline at the Skimmer or the Playhead position (all the other clips will be pushed along the timeline to make room for it).
Press 'D' to overwrite it to the Timeline at the Skimmer or the Playhead position.
If you try some of these options and the clip duration changes, I suggest you trash your preferences.
Unexplained faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and perfectly safe, both to download and use).
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
With Preference Manager, you can backup the Prefs when FCP X (or any of the Apple Professional Applications) are working normally. Then when either of the applications are acting strangely, Trash the Preferences, then Restore from your backups (just a mouse-click).
If you trash the prefs and don't restore them, you will need to manually restore all your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then your backups are up to date.
Doesn't fix every problem, but it fixes a lot.

  • Keynote master objects locked when dragged onto page?

Why can't I edit the objects on the page after dragging the master slide onto the Slides panel? It says 'The object you are trying to select can only be edited in the master slide'. I have another Keynote file where this doesn't happen.
    Thanks.

I was successfully able to implement a rowset in a page bean.
Here is how I did it.
Drop VIR > State on page (creates stateDataProvider and a row set in the session bean). This step is optional. It is just one way to force the dialog box to appear in the next step.
Drop State on page again, a dialog box appears.
Select Create Page 1 radio button and click OK (creates stateDataProvider1).
Drop a Table component on the page. The table displays dummy data.
Bind the Table component to stateDataProvider1.
Get rid of stateDataProvider and the session bean's stateRowSet. (Right-click on the nodes in the Outline window and choose Delete)
Run the project. The table displays the data.

  • Files locking to a grid when dragged onto desktop?

    Hi all,
Something that's been bugging me for ages I wonder if anyone can help with.
If you open a finder window and drag, say a jpeg from the window to the desktop
—is there any way you can stop the file from flying off into the corner of the screen?
Sometimes the file seems to disappear completely!
Any ideas how to get the files to stay where you're placing them?
    Thanks,
    Ben.

It "disappears" into the upper right of the screen, sometimes. If you have anything open that covers that part of the screen it appears the file has disappeared. It's a known bug. It may have been fixed in 10.7.5; it appears to have been fixed in Mountain Lion.
If you wish to change how icons are displayed on the Desktop simply click anywhere on the Desktop then press COMMAND-J. You can select the icon display order in the dialog including Snap To Grid.

  • Bringing stills onto timeline issues...

I've got several hundred stills related to a project.  I want to bring them onto a timeline so the client can breeze through them to make selects (client has Premiere but no photo editing app).
For some reason the stills, when dragged onto the timeline, are zoomed way in.
They don't automatically size to fit (as in FCP).  Is there some setting I can do so that the stills will auto size to fit.  They are all 16:9 format.  Though various resolutions - some were pulled from the HD footage and some done as stills with a Sony a7r - all are 72dpi.
Is there some setting I'm missing in Premiere - to have these auto-size to fit when I drag them onto the timeline?  The idea of rescaling them one by one does not turn my crank.
    All ears,
    Ben

    Ben,
In PrPro, you can set Scale to Default Frame Size, so that the Scaling will match the Frame Size of the Sequence - with one caveat: That Scale to Default Frame Size will fill the first dimension, so lets say that you have a 4000 x 3000 pixel Image, then the 3000 pixels will hit the 1080 pixels in a 1920 x 1080 HD Frame first, leaving black bars on either side of the Still. This is due to a difference in the Aspect Ratio - Still Image @ 4:3, and Sequence at 16:9. If the Aspect Ratio is the same, then the Frame will be automatically filled.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Linked video audio clip goes out of sync when put in timeline - why?

Learning to use Final Cut Express. Clip plays in browser with audio in time with video but as soon as clip is dragged onto timeline the audio goes out of sync. Why? Please can anyone help because its driving me mad!

You don't give any details as to FCE's settings, camera format or your workflow so I can only hazard a guess.
One of the main reasons that audio goes out of sync is because the Easy Setup audio settings do not match the camera's audio settings.
The default setting is for 16bit (48KHz) but your camera may be shooting 12bit (32KHz audio).
If this is the case you need to recapture using the 32KHz Easy Setup.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Crashes When Dragging

Trying to edit in PP CS6 and keep getting this error every time I drag files.
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
This happens every time I try to drag any footage. Regardless of files or locations.
I'm working (at least trying to) on a Mac Pro (Mid 2012) running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
    Processor- 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory- 16GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics- ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB
The Adobe applications manager says everything is up-to-date and I've tried everything I can think of.
    Restarting computer.
Testing different video files in the project (happens with all)
Moving files to a different drive
Creating a new project on a different drive
Opening old project with footage that worked before.
No luck with anything.  Any help is greatly appreciated! I've got deadlines to meet and no backup computer!

Hi, did you get anywhere with this? I am having a similar issue in Premiere Pro CC 2014.
    The issue is as follows:
If I try to drag a clip, sequence, effect or transition ANYWHERE within the program, it will crash - with the serious error message. In order to 'reset' this, I HAVE to restart my machine. Once I have done so, I can continue editing as normal for a while (up to an hour, or so) but eventually, it WILL crash again.
The crash ONLY happens when drag something... This can include moving a clip on the timeline, dragging a clip form the source viewer or project window, dragging an effect or transition.
The crash happens after I have clicked, as soon as I start to move my mouse.
I CAN click and drag to extend in and out points on the timeline, and I can do 'insert' edit using the button on the source monitor. The footage plays fine.
I am trying this on a CLEAN OS X install, with only Adobe packages installed, to eliminate any potential of interference from other programs. There are no third party plugins or drivers installed.
My system is: Macbook Pro 2011, 16GB Ram, 1tb SSD, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. Intel Graphics card, so no option to turn on or off hardware acceleration. It is set to software only.
I have tested this with projects and footage on an external drive, same issue.
I have been using the system on Mavericks and had no problems. I'm guessing it was either the update to Yosemite (I have reinstalled from scratch numerous times to rule out any errors during installation), OR a recent change to Premiere.
Interestingly, I have noticed that once this crash has occurred in Premiere, a similar problem will occur in After Effects. Again, until the machine is restarted.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!!

  • Blurred preview image when dragging playhead in Animation Timeline

    Hi,
when I move the playhead (of the Animation Timeline) by hand back and forth, the image get's blurred untill I stop dragging. This is really annoying since I need to draw and animate some small shapes in pixel perfect manner and can't see the difference between the frames because of the blurred image.
It is not blurred when I use the "Go to Next Frame" buttons in the timeline window, but this is cumbersome as I have to quickly compare frames by going back and forth.
I understand that PS probably gives me a compressed version of the images so it can actually play the animation fast, but I am talking about a hand full of frames in low resolution (1000x1000) on a Macbook Pro Retina with 16 GB RAM!
My Performance setting are all up (90% RAM allocated to PS, enough free space on my SSD Hard Drive). I also tried different settings for the History and Cache.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Marek

OK, I found out the reason I wasn't hearing the sound when dragging the playhead was due to the fact that in the properties for the sound I had the Sync set
to Event, but I needed to set it to Stream.  Then it works fine!
