  • Old serial number no longer works - did not deactivate.

    My MacBook Pro's hard drive recently crashed, and I had to take it to the Apple store to get it wiped and all of the content reinstalled. However, they could not reinstall my CS5 Design Standard package and said that I would have to do that myself with the disks that I have. I have since tried to reinstall my CS5 package but it is saying that my original serial number is no longer valid.
    Since I was not expecting my hard drive to crash, I did not deactive my Adobe software before I received a new hard drive. I believe that this may be the reason that the software will not reinstall again with my serial number.
    I was wondering if anyone could help me as I now do not know how to get my CS5 software onto my laptop again. I do not know if I need to contact Adobe and ask for a new serial number. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Do you have any other Adobe software currently installed?  It is likely that you are currently facing a permission issue which is preventing your serial number from being accepted during the installation process.

    The title pretty much says it all. I've downloaded and installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 and have entered the serial number I was provided at the time of purchase but am receiving an error message that reads "The serial number you entered is invalid. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Customer Support."

    Ugh. Y'know what? Nevermind. Turns out that I'd actually purchase Photoshop CS5. I'm marking this issue as resolved.

    I purchased CS5.5 Production Premium back in October of 2011. After upgrading to a new mac and installing the CS5.5 software, it will not accept my serial number. I'm copying and pasting it directly from my Adobe account, so there's no chance of mistyping here. It just won't accept it. Any ideas on how to get back up and running?

    Jamey Scott I am sorry you have faced a frustrating experience contacting our support team.  I do see that you opened multiple cases.  If you are not seeing the option to chat with a member of our team then it is likely the security settings of your current web browser, a toolbar, or add-on is preventing you from accessing this feature.
    I reviewed your account and it appear that you have been assigned as deploy-to id.  This means that if you do not currently have access to https://licensing.adobe.com/ you will want to click on the forgot password link to reset your password.
    I would recommend utilizing a different web browser since both issues could be related to the current web browser you are using.  If you face additional difficulties you can also download the installation files to a USB drive utilizing a different computer.

    I have been using my LR4 for the past year and a half or so and it has been working great. Until recently, I tried to open the program and it took me to the Welcome to Adobe LR screen. Then asking to either buy a new serial number or typing in an exisiting one. When I put in my serial number, it comes up with a red cross next to it and the 'next' button at the bottom of the window is inactive. Can a serial number become inactive? I dont' understand why my serial number no longer is accepted.  Please Help!

    The issue is a little confusing. Are you saying that you have been using Lightroom 4.4, and that same version of Lightroom is now asking for a serial number that cannot be validated?

    You don't "buy a serial number" for Photoshop CC.  You subscribe via your Adobe ID.  No serial number is provided, though subscription can be handled via a redemption code.  Ultimately the software has you "log in" with your Adobe ID then verifies your subscription online.
    I have heard people say it can take some time for the subscription activation to occur after the transaction is complete.  I believe when I redeemed my redemption code it worked right away, but that was a couple of years ago.
    You do, of course, have the ability to download and run the software for 30 days for free, without subscribing to anything, so if you haven't completely used up your free trial period that gives you some flexibility.

    If you recently purchased this then it is not likely to be a valid sale/purchase.  Adobe does not sell older versions of their products and no one but Adobe provides student/teacher licensing.  If you purchased this some time years ago and it is only recently that you find you are not able to reactivate it with the original serial number you can try contacting Adobe Support thru chat and see if they will be willing to work with you to resolve this.

    I am getting a bit concerned about what is happening in your situation. Yesterday you posted your question in at least two different forums, one of them being here in the Premiere Elements Forum.
    Don't Have Serial Number for Premiere, Only Photoshop?
    Wherever you posted, the reply was to contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat. It is the only one who can sort out this matter for you.
    In the thread cited above I offered to help you with the difficulties that you were having visualizing the Adobe Chat in its web page. I was waiting for your follow up on that in the above thread. Instead, I find your same question in a new Adobe Premiere Elements Forum thread this afternoon with no refer the prior threads or prior recommendations given you.
    I will also mention again...when you buy the Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements bundled in one packaging and with installation files for each on the same installation disc, each program has its own serial number. The Photoshop Elements serial number does not work for Premiere Elements and vice versa. The serial numbers are on labels on a box which houses the installation disc envelope(s). So, if you purchased both programs and found the Photoshop Elements serial number, then the Premiere Elements serial number should be in a label right underneath the label with the serial number for Photoshop Elements. I recall writing this in your yesterday's thread on this matter.
    The moderator will no doubt be along shortly to close or delete this thread. So, just in case, please bookmark your yesterday's thread cited above so that we can continue this communication which is trying to help you.
