Serialization problme

Dear friends,
I got a problem about java object serialization. the server resides in tomcat, sending the serialized object to the client which locates the same machine, using the same java version(1.5.02). the server side serialization code snippet is as following:
          //writting the binary data to a file to compare with client side
          try {
          FileOutputStream fo = new FileOutputStream(
          "/tmp/object.Server");
          ObjectOutputStream so = new ObjectOutputStream(fo);
          so.writeObject(objectxxx);
          so.flush();
          so.close();
          System.out.println("successful writting OracleCachedRowSet into file /tmp/object.Server");
          } catch (Exception e) {
          e.printStackTrace();
          System.exit(1);
I run the same code to serialize the same object through tomcat(as a servlet) and eclipse, but I got different file(different size), the file size generated by tomcat is bigger than the size generated by eclipse. the most important of all, I can't use eclipse to read the object serialized into the file by tomcat, because the serialVersionUID is different. I guess maybe the locale or encoding is different? but I can't find any place to specify or setting encoding or locale.
any hint will be greatly apprieciated!
Sam

I can't use
eclipse to read the object serialized into the file
by tomcat, because the serialVersionUID is different.
I guess maybe the locale or encoding is different?
but I can't find any place to specify or setting
encoding or locale. Not much to do with locale or encoding.
If you have indeed verfied that your Eclipse environment and Tomcat are using the same compiler, check if Tomcat has its context set to reloadable.
( Tomcat needs to be able to reload your changes to stay in sync with Eclipse).

  • Serialization error while invoking a Java web service

    Hi,
    I've a requirement where I need to create a Java web service, which returns a collection (a set of records).
    The way I've created a web service is by having a Java Class, which internally calls a Pl/sql package returning Ref cursors and a bean Class, which wraps the method of the Java Class, to return the collection. I could create the web service successfully and could invoke the end point. The end point looks like this: http://localhost:8988/MyJavaWebService-New_JWS-context-root/MyWebService_finalSoapHttpPort
    The method exposed for the web service in my Java class is of type ArrayList, to fetch the collection element.
    After giving the input at the end point, while I say invoke, for the web service, I get the following error:
    <env:Envelope
    xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:ns0="http://mypkg/types/"
    xmlns:ns1="http://www.oracle.com/webservices/internal/literal">
    <env:Body>
    <env:Fault>
    <faultcode>env:Server</faultcode>
    <faultstring>Internal Server Error (serialization error: no serializer is registered for (class mypkg.EmpBean, null))</faultstring>
    </env:Fault>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    I've tried making my exposed method of type Vector as well and re-generated the web service. But still I face the same issue at invocation.
    Can anybody help me out and hint me on how I should proceed? I'm not sure if my approach is correct and so please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Gayathri

    Hi,
    do you use 10.1.2 or 10.1.3?

  • Return Code = 19 , Adobe Serialization

    Hey all. I downloaded Creative Suite 6 for Windows last year from the University of Maryland Terpware service and need to serialize it. They offer these instructions:
    Download the 2 files, prov.xml and adobe_prtk
    Save files to an easy found location
    Open command prompt: Win – Click start menu, type cmd into search box, right click on cmd and click run as administrator
    Navigate to file location
    put in the following command:   adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --stream --provfile=prov.xml
    Your CS6 package should now be active
    However, when I input the command it offers this response:
              Copyright 2014 Adobe Systems Incorporated
              All rights reserved.
    Return Code = 19
    And the Serialization is incomplete. I've tried placing the two files into a folder and moving it to System32, but no luck? How can I rectify this? Thanks.

    Not sure if you have generated the prov.xml file for CS 6 using unique product identification (LEID). Please try generating the prov file using below command.
    adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=LEID --serial=serialNum --adobeid=AdobeID

  • CS6, AAMEE 3.1 - serialization file still prompts to sign in

    So I've had the same issue I've seen other's dealing with - pretty much exactly the same as http://forums.adobe.com/message/4467285.  I've placed AAMEE 3.1 trial packages of my volume-licensed suite into a master image and deployed it to other computers (using WDS).  I created the serialization file with AAMEE 3.1 and have tried to run those on the computers with the trial packages.  I am running:
    AdobeSerialization.exe --tool=VolumeSerialize
    The prov.xml file is in the same folder, but just for the sake of being thorough I added the --provfilie=[path] bit.  I also saw a reference to a "--stream" parameter.  I have no idea what it does but I tried it to.  All of these attempts result in a result code of 0 and the programs in the suite open.  However, the program immediately requests that the user signs in with an Adobe ID.  It's ridiculous because it reports that I now have approximately 90 years until the software stops working.  This is super obnoxious that my users have to dismiss this message each time they wish to load an Adobe product.  What am I missing here?  How can I just make my programs run with no pop-ups like they always used to?  Thanks.

    Hi I have the same problem in that after using the previously created prov file, the software insists that I sign in with an Adobe ID, and like tomferratt, I do not intend to ask my uses to dismiss this message everytime they wish to use your products, I have tried this so called fix you have mentioned above but to no avail, surely there must be an easier way to license your products for users who do not, nor ever will be able to connect to the internet. It seems that Adobe are trying to dictate that all users who have the misfortune to require their products to do a job need to be internet connected, well in the real world this is not an option for everyone, so please please please come up with a solution that is easy and stress free for us poor users who cannot connect to the intenet from our office enviroment.

  • Will 2D objects in java.awt.geom.* be Serializable in next version of Java?

    I am pretty frustrated about having to write my own Serializable classes. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but will the next version of Java supports Serializable 2D objects?
    Further, I was trying to write my own class to extend java.awt.geom.GeneralPath to become Serializable, but it's declared "final". What should I do? (I had no problems with Rectangle2D.Double, Line2D.Double, etc.)
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Your code for serializing the state of the General path forgets two things:
    1. the winding rule
    2. the segments types!
    You could use a vector, but I just directly wrote to the file:
    private void writeObject(ObjectOutputStream oos) throws IOException
    {     out.defaultWriteObject();
         //write state of transient GeneralPath _gp;
         out.writeInt(_gp.getWindingRule());
         float[] coord = new float[6];
         PathIterator i = _gp.getPathIterator(null);
         while(!i.isDone())
         {     int seg = i.currentSegment(coords);
              writeInt(seg);
              //switch on seg, writing correct # of floats from coords
              i.next();
         out.writeInt(-1);     //sentinel for end-of-data: SEG_LINETO etc are [0,4]
    private void readObject(ObjectInputStream in)
    throws IOException, ClassNotFoundException
    {     in.defaultReadObject();
         int rule = in.readInt();
         _gp = new GeneralPath(rule);
         //etc...
    }3. I'm just winging this code -- haven't tested it
    --Nax

  • Web Application and Serialization

    Hi, i have a problem with a web application that is running on an Application server (BEA WebLogic 7.0). I have only the war file of the web application and i must know if in this war there is a class that is not serializable.
    How can i find it ? Is there a tool that can help me to find not serializable classes ?
    Thanks.
    claudiozx2006

    One way to do that is to decompile Java classes with Java decompiler and see which one doesn't implement Serializable interface. Here is a link to a good decompiler: http://www.kpdus.com/jad.html

  • How to Serialize a JPanel which is inside a JApplet

    Hi..
    I have a JApplet where i have a JPanel which contains some JLabels and JTextFields,now i have to Serialize that full Panel so that i can retrived it later on with the labels and textfields placed in the same order,for that i tried serializing the full panel on to a file but it is giving me NotSerializeException,i dont know how to tackel it..
    public SaveTemplate(JPanel com) {
    try {
    ObjectOutputStream os=new ObjectOutputStream(new FileOutputStream("Temp1.temp"));
    os.writeObject(com);
    catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    This is the code..plz help me with that..

    Actually its forming a Template which client will generate and that has to saved on the serverside..So what i thought that once when the client has designed a template,i can save the full template which is a panel into a file and later on when he want to open the template i just have to read the file and create an object of JPanel and add to the frame,so i dont need to apply much effort for that...But now serialization in Applet is giving problem.

    What is your requirement that these be serializable?
    The views do not store any values, that is what the model is for, and
    they are created lazily as needed.
    Is there something you were doing in ND that required it. It is very
    likely that you do not need to do it anymore with JATO.
    If you are using JATO1.0, you are highly encouraged to start using JATO
    1.2. If you are using the iMT, it has an upgrade tool for 1.x to 1.2.

  • Problem with writing and reading using serialization

    I am having a problem with writing and reading an object that has another object in it. The purpose of the class is to write a order that has multiple items in it. And there will be several orders. This is for an IB project, where one of the requirements is to utilize a hierarchical composite data structure. That is, it is "one that contains more than one element and at least one of the elements is a composite data structure. Examples are, an array or linked list of records, a record that has one field that is another record, or an array". The code is shown below:

  • Problem with Serialization from Threads

    I'm quite new to java threads, and i'm doing a simple server.
    It opens a thread for every socket connection that is opened, so the Socket is extern to the Thread.
    When I try to serialize on the socket a Vector (that contains Vectors, etc..) that is extern to the Thread, the first time everything goes ok, but when the thread modifies some variables in some objects contained in a vector(that, i repeat is extern to the thread), the serialized object doesn't seem to change, and the client continues receiving the same variables, without change.
    In a first time i thought that maybe creating a thread, the second one took a copy of the space of addresses of the main one(and so when i modify a variable from a thread the variable in the main thread didn't change), but i read that java uses the same space of addresses for every thread, so i don't really know what it could be.
    Maybe i've not been clear so i make an example:
    MyType is a class containing some fields, let's put x and y
    In the class MainClass i have an istance of this class, and also a socket and from here i open a thread of class MyThread
    MyThread modifies x and y in a object of MyType contained in the "3D array" that is in MainClass
    Then from that thread i serialized on the socket (which was been passed by MainClass).
    Well, doing this way the vector that the client receives has always the x and y fields unchanged.
    Please help me, cause i've been thinking all day of what it could be and found nothing on the web.
    Also sorry for my poor english.

    I thought that could be the problem, but it wasn't.
    The client still receives the vector with objects
    unchanged.
    I think the problem is that the thread can only access
    to a copy of the class that contains the vector, and
    so when i send the real one, it isn't changed.not likely. one of the things about threads is that they share everything but local (read: non-Object) data. All objects are accessible to any thread of your application, as long as that thread has a reference to it.

  • What is the use of Serializable Interface in java?

    Hello friends,
    I have one dout and i want to share with u guys:
    Why Serializable interface made and actully
    what's the use of it?
    At which place it become useful ?
    It is not contain any method then why it is made?
    If anyone have any idea about this then please reply.
    Thanks in advace
    Regards,
    Jitendra Parekh

    t is not contain any method then why it is made?To point out to the user of a class (and the programs) that the design of this class is conforming to certain restraints needed for Serialization.

  • 'Payload not Serializable' with custom WSDL data types in message-style web service

    I'm implementing a message-style web service which publishes to a JMS Queue.
    I had the web service built and deployed, but noticed that the "sendRequest" message's
    part was of type "xsd:anyType." This is not specific enough for our interface,
    since it is externally facing and needs to describe the object we're expecting
    on the back end.
    So I replaced xsd:anyType with mynamespace:MyType, which is defined as a complex
    type in the same WSDL document.
    My problem is that when I test the web service with the new WSDL (using the client.jar),
    I get a server-side exception from the DestinationSendAdapter.doPost() method.
    The exception reads:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: Payload not Serializable
    at weblogic.soap.server.servlet.DestinationSendAdapter.doPost(DestinationSendAdapter.java:129)
    The domain object ('classic' JavaBean) that it should map to on the server side
    extends a class that implements Serializable, so it should inherit the trait.
    So my questions are:
    1) Did I properly go about trying to restrict the object type that gets sent to
    my Destination?
    2) If no, what is the correct way? If yes, why am I receiving the Payload not
    Serializable error if the domain object implements Serializable?
    Thanks in advance.

    Resolved:
    Apparently this is the right approach, as it boiled down to a classpath issue
    on the client-side. Thanks anyway.

  • Using a class or servlet that implements Serializable

    Hello everyone,
    Can someone please help me. I need to make a program that uses a class or servlet that implements Serializable and then use the values of the variables in servlets.
    The first is using it to validate login. then changing the color of the background, header and footer of each servlet.
    the variables in the Serialized file are all Strings for color, username, password, header text and footer text.
    I tried using the applet tag to run the class in the servlet but it is not working.

    It's not working because you seem to be making random guesses what servlets, serialization and files are

    Tony,
    this is how your XML should look like.

    I see you have a few extra '\' characters before double quotes. you need to remove them.
