Serious issue with Windows XP on Boot Camp

Whenever I run an application on Windows XP, the blue screen of death pops up after about 5 to 10 minutes or so and my computer automatically restarts. When I log back onto Windows, the system tells me that it has recovered from a serious error. Here is the error signature:
BCCode : 1000007f BCP1 : 0000000D BCP2 : 00000000 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 512600 SP : 2_0 Product : 768_1
Any help on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. As a side, I've installed the latest Boot Camp updates as well as Service Pack 3 for XP.

I'm having exactly the same problem -- happened 3 times tonight!
This has been occurring for roughly the last week or so. Correlates closely with my upgrade to MAC OS 10.5.4, but I can't tie it to that precisely.

  • ATI driver installation issue with Windows Vista on Boot Camp (new iMac)

    I've just purchased a new 20" iMac with Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz.
Then I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on a Boot Camp partition.
Vista installation was eventless and worked nicely.
    Now the problem has begun...
I downloaded the latest ATI graphic card driver (Catalyst 7.7 for Vista 32) from the ATI website. The Catalyst software did not recognize the graphic card and installed nothing. I still have generic Microsoft standard VGA video adapter, which keeps me from playing any recent 3D games...
Someone please help me on this so that I can start playing Oblivion...

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
I still have to find a verification for this, but:
Aplle has up to now always used the Mobility versions of the ATI and NVIDIA graphics chips in the iMacs and MacBooks, MacBooks Pro.
I assume that the in the new imacs, they are also using the Mobility version of the Radeon 2400/2600.
The ATI drivers you can download from the ATI/AMD website are only suitable for the Desktop Radeons, NOT for the Mobility Radeons.
ATI/AMD does not provide drivers for the Mobility Radeons, but are refering to the Manufacturer of the Computer for Drivers, which is Apple.
Sorry to say, but it seems you have to wait for a new BootCamp version which you include Driver support of the new iMacs.
    Sorry

  • Is the Apple Wireless Keyboard fully compatible with Windows 7 in Boot Camp?

If you have an iMac running Snow Leopard and Windows 7, will the Apple Wireless Keyboard work properly in Windows 7 (via Boot Camp)?
I'm asking because a friend of mine has an Apple Wired Keyboard that they want to get rid of, and upgrade to an Apple Wireless Keyboard. However, their concern is that the Apple Wireless Keyboard won't work properly (or reliably) when they run Windows 7 on their iMac.

I'm using an Apple Wireless Keyboard running Boot Camp and Windows 7 64 bit right now typing this.   Seems to run just fine under Windows 7 for me.  Some of the familiar Windows keyboard keys are not present, of course, though there are key mappings to get to those too.  I actually like this keyboard a lot, under Windows 7 or OS X.

Just to elaborate further; if the Windows OS has been previously installed, go to the bootcamp assistant in OSX (found in applications/utilities). There you will have the option to burn a disk or  download the needed drivers to a USB flash drive. After getting the necessary files downloaded/burned proceed and start your Windows partition, run the installer from the disc. This should solve the problem.
Did you mean to reply to the poster who has the problem?
    Because that's not me.

  • Trouble with Windows XP and Boot Camp

I tried to install XP on my Macbook Pro with OS X 10.6.3 through Boot Camp, but it keeps giving me the error that it can't find the End User License Agreement and quits. I successfully partitioned my hard drive and tried the process with partitions both above and below 32 GB in size, but it still gave me the same error each time. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Hi,
that seems to happen with some XP CDs.

  • Can I use my Mac OS iTunes Library with Windows XP under Boot Camp?

Hello. I have a Mac Pro with two drives, a 1TB Mac OS 10.5 drive and a 500GB Windows XP drive. I have a large iTunes library on my Mac OS drive, and I'd like to be able to access it when I'm using XP. I downloaded MacDrive hoping that I'd be able to use the same iTunes library, but I'm stuck as to what to do now. Anyone know if this is possible, and how I can get it to work?

I have my entire iTunes library shared between Mac OS X 10.5.2 and XP (aka. Media Center 2005).
I use an HFS+ volume accessed via MacDrive. In my case I started off with the Windows iTunes as the master (and use it to rip all my CDs). I then set the Mac side running iTunes to use the same iTunes folder as specified in Windows (this is done in Advanced Preferences). I also replaced the Mac "iTunes Music Library.xml" and "iTunes Library" file (both stored in /Users/username/Music/iTunes) with aliases pointing to "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml" and "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl" respectively.
Note: I suspect the Mac side will need write access to these two files, and as I used FAT32 for the Windows volume the Mac does have write access. However there are now at least two ways for the Mac to get write access to NTFS volumes (MacFuse being one). It may also be possible to tell iTunes to store these files themselves in a common location (not tried that).
While it is not relevant to your query, I have also managed to share my entire iTunes library with Windows Media Player (and therefore also to Media Center 2005). All my music is in Apple Lossless format and I have a directshow filter for WMP to let it play Apple Lossless (or unprotected AAC). I also have a plugin installed to let WMP read the meta tags in MPEG4 (i.e. AAC and Apple Lossless) files.
When I switch from Windows to Mac and run iTunes it does a brief rebuild, when I switch from Mac to Windows it again does a brief rebuild and the result is that the list of music in iTunes on both operating systems is always the same and successfully accesses the same music files on the shared volume. I rebooted back in to Mac OS X at the weekend and was happily accessing the music in Front Row.

  • Having issues with installing Windows XP on Boot Camp

I installed the latest firmware for my MBP along with Boot Camp. I then tried to install a copy of Windows XP that I got from my friend (we'll name him Mr.Limewire). Anyways, I've tried to use 2 different copies of Windows XP and Boot Camp does not detect the cd still (it keeps saying to insert the Win xp cd). I believe I have using the full version of Windows XP. If a copy of XP is burnt on a Mac would that affect anything?

You really need to use a legitimate XP installation CD - a downloaded copy isn't worth the time for many reasons. Even if you did get it running, you can't register it and will have to reinstall a valid copy all over again to use it.
Also read the BootCamp FAQ's - XP must be a service pack 2 (SP2) release. If you don't see a folder "SP2" on the CD or some reference to it then you likely have a pre-SP2 release.
Another option is to slipstream SP2 and create an updated XP installation CD -
    http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp
but even this would be waste of time without a valid XP install disc.

  • Time Capsule issue with backing up Windows partition via Boot Camp

I just bought the macbook pro and time capsule. I set up a 25GB Windows partition using Boot Camp and I have set up a Time Capsule to handle the backups. Time Capsule seems to backup the OSX hard drive partition fine, with the historical versions of the drive displayed correctly. However, with the Windows partition the Time Capsule appears to be backing up any files that change, however there is no version control showing up in Time Machine. In other words, I ONLY see the Windows partitioned drive as backed up in the "Today (Now)" screen. Any historical dates the drive shows up shaded and I cannot access it. Is there a way for Time Machine to manage the Windows partition in the same way as it does for MAC OSX drives?
    John

    Why is it so hard?
1000 and 1 times: the drive must have FREE contiguous unfragmented space and some files are blocking and preventing.
Some are able to find and delete, some by booting from another hard drive or OS X DVD to repair and/or run iDefrag.
    Or.... backup; erase; and restore.
ie, CLONE your hard drive in both directions. My choice would be SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. They tend to work. Defrag tends to be slow and if there is no backup and there is an error.... well, you'll find out.
Apple error message is badly and poorly worded. Said so for over 3 yrs and it has not changed or improved though.
Paragon CampTune 9.5 $19 is great for Boot Camp. And resizing. And Windows 7 may need 2 or 3x what the base minimums listed. 32-48GB at least to be safe. And those are conservative numbers.

  • Windows 7 in boot camp - two finger click and drag issues

Hey everyone. I have Windows 7 on Boot Camp (MacBook Pro mid-2010, Mac OS X Lion) and I cannot seem to click on a window with one finger, then use a second finger to drag it. Every time I try it brings up the right click menu. Is there any way of fixing this? I want to be able to drag, darn it! Thanks.
    Grant

Having had the same issue on my MacBook Pro with Boot Camp 5.0.5033 on Windows 8, workaround being external mouse, I have found the following:
If Trackpad->Two Fingers->Secondary Click is enabled in Control Panel/Boot Camp, in order to Click and Drag one cannot click any place on the trackpad. One must click bottom area of the trackpad with one finger, and then use another finger to drag.
If Trackpad->Two Fingers->Secondary Click is disabled, Click and Drag works the same way as in Mac OS X: one can click any place on MacBook Pro built-in trackpad with one finger, and then use another finger to drag the window or select a fragment of text. The two fingers Secondary Click, consequently, becomes disabled.
For me Mac OS X-style Click&Drag is more important, so I disabled two fingers Secondary Click, and assigned Bottom-Right-Corner of the trackpad to be Right-Click instead.
Don’t know if the question is still open… Hope, however, the info might be helpful to those having the same inconvenience with Click and Drag under Boot Camp.

After Security updation of Windows 7 in Boot Camp (Mac Book Pro with Retina Display) on 13-Nov-2013, Windows 7 Desktop Gadgets are not working properly.
This is boot camp problem, because in other normal notebooks (e.g. SONY VAIO, Lenovo with Windows 7) the gadgets are working normally.
I am attaching the screen shot of Desktop Gadgets and Security updates of Windows 7.
    Kindly solve this issue ASAP.

Have you reinstalled the latest Boot Camp Windows 7 drivers, just in case Microsoft overwrote some of them during the Windows 7 security update?
