Server 10.6.2: NetRestore image of 10.6.2 not appearing in startup disk..
So I made a 10.6.2 image of an iMac, and have created the image, which now sits on the NetBoot service on the list. But when I go to another mac (workstation), the image is not appearing in the list of startup disk items. PLEASE HELP!
Is the NetBoot service running? Do you have MAC address filtering in place on the server?
Do a 'showmount -e' in the terminal on the server. Does the returned path properly reflect the location of the image(s)? Can you actually mount that volume in the finder from a client?
Another simple thing to try is: 'sudo killall -HUP bootpd'. This will force bootpd to re-read its configuration file.

I am creating a Exel Work book and converting it to a PDF file (easy to share online).
Once I convert the Excel Work book, some of my images are cut off or not appearing at all.
Which I find weird because some images pop up just fine.
These images are originally flats from Adobe Illustrator I converted to pictures with Excel.
So why is that when I convert my workbook to a PDF file some images show through and others don't?
Please Help!

For some reason when I click the insert image button in
dreamweaver cs3, the image src dialog box does not appear any more.
It now just inserts <img src="" />. It used to allow me to

NetBoot appears in startup disks but clients will not boot to the images
I recently upgraded a 10.6.8 server to 10.7.4 server. I did a clean update but saved all the needed information off of it.
The problem I am having is with Netboot. I have the service enabled and the images are in place again. These are the same images from the old server, so I know they worked at one point in time.
Now I can goto the Startup Disk option and see the disks there, but when I try to Netboot I just get the folder with the question mark.
This is in a school so we do have multiple subnets, however the IP address on the server remained the same, so the helper addresses are still working.
I have tried to create a new netboot image, but I am new to all of this and it didn't work (I blame me not knowing how to make one, so yeah).
I am currently trying to use Deployment Studio (as was suggested here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3962094?start=0&tstart=0), but I really think there is something wrong with my set up of the server and not the images.
Any help is greatly apprecaited.

KeeganIt is possible that one of underlying services required isn't running or configured properly. Here's a little script I wrote to help diagnose issues like this.
If the output doesn't help you figure it out on your own, paste it back into this thread.

Image of e-mail sender not appearing in e-mail even though it's in Contacts
From Gizmodo: "If you receive an email from a person who has a picture in your contacts, you'll now see a tiny image of him or her in the corner."
Sometimes I see the image, but most of the time I do not. And, yes, I confirmed that the image does appear for the contact in Contacts.
Any idea how I fix this problem?I've got the same issue, none of my emails show an image except this one. Can't figure out why either, maybe because its my newest one and they will from now on. But that doesn't really make sense.
I also have the same issue over in MobileMe, no image since the update. Not even a recognition of contacts from the mail app either.

Images rotated in Browser do not appear rotated in Viewer
I have the following problem in Aperture 2.1. I rotate images in the Browser and they appear to rotate just fine, but when loaded into the Viewer the images do not appear rotated. When exported by dragging from the Viewer to the Desktop (or other folder location) the images are not rotated, but when exported via the File>Export>Version command they are rotated.
What gives? Why do the images not appear properly rotated in the Viewer?

Image in template background do not appear in browser
Hello all
I run a site ( http://ntp.neuroscience.wisc.edu/ ) that uses templates for backgrounds/spry menus for its pages. We currently use three templates to display backgrounds across the site and up until a few days ago everything displayed fine, until suddenly the main banner picture (bannerIndex.jpg) dissapeared from across all our pages, both in IE8 and Firefox 3.5. It used to display above the red spry menu tabs on the top of the whitespace. Check the index.dwt file attached to see where exactly. To my memory I didnt edit any of the templates or delete any of the image files, much less reupload the templates or download them from the remote server. I went back and reinserted all the pics into the templates, made sure they were attached to their right pages, and uploaded everything, but to no avail. the only major edit to the site I can remember that might have had an effect was that I rearraged some files on the local/remote server, but the shifts were within the same directory level and the files involved were not templates. I shifted everything back to their original order and still the problem persists. I'm attaching the code below (site first follow by the template which attaches to it) as it shows in the dreamweaver code editor (i'm using dreamweaver cs3) and I'll also attached the actual html and dwt files. again, the picture that does not show is bannerIndex.jpg and it should be above the spry menu tabs.

The solution in the FAQ's is clear, but the small icon that is supposed to be showing in the upper right of a new Tab page are not showing up so that I can get the images to appear. I recently installed Java 7 and after that they had disappeared. Can you help me get them back? They are very helpful.
You can reset the browser.newtab.url pref on the <b>about:config</b> page via the right-click context menu to the default value.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

IMAGES ON OLD PAGES FILE NOT APPEARING CORRECTLY ON NEW MAC
Hi, I hope you can help me. My 2nd Mac crashed a few months ago was 10.5.8 (I believe) and now I have a new one with 10.6.4 loaded.
My problem is I have a reasonably sized file (a book) full of text and images, when the book was typed the images were all pasted into this document and framed.
Now however, when I open that document to make some edits to that file almost all the images (and there are lots) are masked with a weird frame covering them up AND are not the same images that I originally pasted. In short, the images are a MESS throughout. I am HOPING desperately not to have to re-do the entire thing but things don't look good. It's disappointing to open this document which I have worked so long and hard on and to find the images wrong on another Apple Mac.
Is it the new operating system? Can it be fixed without having to re-do the entire thing???

I doubt that you have a DVD installing directly mac os X 10.6.4.
So I guess that you had to run an updater from 10.6.x to 10.6.4.
The only safe way to dio that is to apply the combo updater.

Background image in tray but does not appear
I am trying add background images to some submenus in a DVD project with picture slideshows. When I drag in the image, it appears in the customize tray, but does actually appear as a background image in the preview of the DVD project menus. Any idea why? Will they only show up in the final burned DVD? thanks

Don't think so. You know that You can test the DVD by the rond button with
a triangle in it ?
You can also from file menu - make a disk image and try to run this with
Apple DVD-player.
I think I would convert the pictures to jpg, pict or tiff to see if any of them
will work as asumed.

Snow Leopard client for NetRestore image not being recognized in Mountain Lion Server
I target firewired a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and ran System Imaging Utility and the machine does not show up as an option. Does Mountain Lion Server support Snow Leopard NetRestore images or am I doing something wrong?
I'm actually trying to figure that out as well. We have 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 Images we wanted to put together for our netrestore images on our server, but can only do 10.8 images currently.
We also have the AppleCare Helpdesk diagnostic kit which includes hardware tests, we were only able to get the newer mid-2012 and late-2012 Diagnostic utilities to netboot but none of the older ones.
So do we need a server running the older OS to get these or is there a better alternative? i mean really shouldnt be a problem considering theyre running inside of an image and dont rely heavily on the server resources other than to say "Yep, goto this file/directory".
I'd like to know more as well.... -
NetBoot from NetRestore Image hangs at 0% progress
I've setup an OS X 10.6.5 machine with all of the user accounts and software that I'd like on all of the clients. I used the SIU on our 10.6.5 OS X Server to create a NetRestore image from that machine. I have configured the NetBoot service on the server to use that image.
I have followed the steps in the book +Beginning Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server+ to get to this point.
When I try to boot the client from the network, I see the connection in the NetBoot service logs:

At this point the ServerAdmin interface shows that the client is connected (see image below), but that it's stuck in the NetInstall stage and at 0%. This continues for a couple of hours and then the client connection drops.

If it gets to the installer, hit Cmd-L to bring up the log, and Cmd-3 to display all messages. If it fails here, there should be something in the log. -
Camera icon does not appear when use Google Image Search
Hello,
I am working on a much older macbook pro (2006) running OS 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10.
Just the other day I reinstalled Safari, as some things appeared to not be working properly. However, there was nothing wrong with Google. SInce then, when I try to search by Google Image, the camera icon does not appear in the search bar. I have tried reinstalling Safari twice, but nothing changes. I have checked in Firefox and it shows up as expected.
I have cleared the cache, deleted cookies, and cleared browser history. None of these steps have produced any changes.
Also, I seem to have reverted to some earlier version of Google, since the search tools now appear on the top left, as show below.
Can you please assist me in sorting this out so that Safari and Google perform as expected.

In a separate thread, as spotted by a Reg reader who brought this sorry affair to our attention, user MadFranko008 was able to show that even modern browsers - including the current version of Chrome - were apparently spitting out glitches on Apple Mac computers.
Google then appeared to have resolved the search "bug" spotted in Chrome.

OraOLEDB not appearing as an option in the 'Providers' list SQL Server 2008

I'm trying to create a linked server to an Oracle 10g database from SQL Server 2008 R2, but the required OraOLEDB.oracle driver is not appearing in the list of providers. We are trying to recreate our prod environment where we use the 11g client to connect to the 10g db, so I downloaded the installed the 11gClient ODADC (11.1.0.7). I have the Oracle folder in my 'Start' menu (Windows 2008 O/S), and it looks like the Oracle install was successful but in the registry (regedit) I don't see Oracle listed as 'software' in the local_machine/software listing.
I set my Oracle home to C:\Oracle and the path under there is
product\11.1.0\client_1
I've also read in some other posts that I should have both a 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle driver installed - I'm assuming that 11g is 64-bit and 9i is 32 bit?
Should I be able to install just the client or do I need to install the Server as well?
Any suggestions?

Why firefox in my desktop can't open a new tab in the same windows?
I can't open a new tab by clicking the + symbol. I don't know why this happen. If I want to open a new tab, I have to take a right click and then choosing open new tab. I think this is so terrible, I can't access the page on the same windows.
