Server Admin not drawing graphs

I have a fresh install of Leopard that will not display the graphs in Server Admin on the server. I can see the graphs if viewing from my laptop or other machine, but not from the server itself. It gets a few errors like ...
... [0x0-0x1b01b].com.apple.ServerAdmin[1734]: * ERROR: -[GRAxes computeLayout]:1124 - plotRect height = 0.000000 <= 0.0 *
... [0x0-0x1b01b].com.apple.ServerAdmin[1734]: * ERROR: -[GRChartView computeLayout]:1194 - Layout for overlay axes (0x6826d30) failed. *
The hardware is a Xserve, 2 x 2.0GHz PPC G5 with 2.0 GB RAM.
Any help is appreciated as this is an annoying feature.

Hi
I see the same "error" messages in every leopard server install I've done - and I've done a fair few - regardless of what hardware was used. Graphs draw fine for me.

  • Server admin not showing network traffic graph

This topic was posted a while ago with no solution, and it has been [archived|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6953359]. I have just experienced the same problem with Leopard Server Admin (SA). It seems to be a problem on the server, not in the client admin, since it occurs both when I use SA on the server itself and a client, and deleting client prefs. has not helped. I'm presuming that there is a corrupted database or prefs. file for this graph.
All the other SA graphs show just fine. Fixing permissions has not helped, either.
Anyone have any idea where to look on the server? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I have since I have a few Mac Mini's on the network with their home directory residing on the server and my Windows users are sharing a few daily use files on the server including a MYOB data file, also our intranet web site is hosting on the same server, not to mention I have 3 print queues there and all the outgoing mails from both of our all-in-one scan to email machines are using the same server. All of these services and users are using their computer as if nothing is wrong, so I have to assume that there is network traffic unless server admin interprets the term "network traffic" differently.

  • Remote Server Admin not working from outside of network for 1 server

Our company recently changed ISPs and I had to change our two 10.4 server's IP addresses. We have a mail server (intel xserve) and a file/web server (quicksilver g4). Both servers have two network cards in them. The problem is two-fold:
1- I can successfully manage the Xserve machine locally on our network and from my home. However, I can only manage the Quicksilver g4 server locally. Any kind of external access is not even acknowledged.
2- I'm not sure if I missed any steps when changing IP addresses for these server-based computers. Also, I'm not sure if I correctly set our dns names to the correct IP address.
For some background, this is the exact IP update process I used for each server:
Quicksilver G4 (file/web server) - Installed network card #2 and configured it with the new Public IP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. In Server Admin I set our website to use the new public IP address. (network card #2 has no firewall device in between it and the internet.)
Then, I configured the default network card #1 to a static, yet private IP address that's behind our DLink firewall device with the rest of our network.
Intel Xserve (e-mail server) - Network card #1 was the only one setup before our network change. It had a static, public IP address. When we changed ISPs, I configured network card #2 to the new static, public IP address supplied to us by the new ISP in the "System Preferences/Network" panel. This new IP address is where all email traffic currently gets pointed to. (All mail is successfully sent and delivered.) Until our former ISP gets shutdown, I still have network card #1 configured to the older static public IP address. After the old ISP is shut off, I plan on changing network card #1 to a static, private address.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What should I check in AD?  I am by no means an expert with AD.
Yes, I am using the same client OS.
I am talking about RDP over the internet, like from home to the office.  We have a static IP assigned to the router from ISP.  A static internal IP assigned to the server on the LAN.  And the router port forwards 3389 to the assigned IP.
It was working fine before we reinstalled Server 2012.  These are the steps I took when reinstalling:
    1. format drive and install OS
    2. rename the server
    3. install SQL server
    4. Install TFS and SharePoint
    5. Add Active Directory role and promote to Domain Controller
    6. Add domain users
    7. Enable remote access on the server and add users to remote access list

  • Share point in server admin not working correctly... I think

I suspect that the share point in server admin is not working correctly. In workgroup manager when I click on a user and then click on the "home" tab, under the full path field I see a file path of:
    afp://server.mydomain.com/Users
However if I go to Server Admin -> AFP -> Share Points then click on the Users share and then click on the share point tab below, enable auto mount is disabled. How can this be possible? I thought for a directory to show up in home in workgroup manager it had to be set as an auto mount. Has something possibly corrupted? And what?

Here's a bit more information about our setup and our experiences with Apple's CUPS implementation:
On the server, all printer queues are set up with only lpr and ipp sharing enabled with the PPD setting for each printer set to Generic Postscript. We found that setting the PPD to the printer specific one on the server caused problems when clients tried to use printer specific options, like paper tray selection, etc.. The selection would be undone, apparently because the driver on the server would override the previous settings. Using Generic Postscript allows the client PPD settings to go through unmodified. Our printers are general a mix of HP LaserJets and some Sharp Copiers.
All clients use lpd to the server queues with the printers' actual PPDs configured. Using ipp is superior in that printer feedback (jams, out of toner, etc) makes it back to the clients, but ipp only works when the client, the server, and the printer are on the same network. If the ipp client is not on the same network, the client spooler immediately goes into a paused state and the print job is stuck on the client.
Using lpd to the server queues works reliably, but there is no feedback to the client. Jobs disappear from the client queue and go to the server, appearing to the user as a successful print. If the printer is down, there's nothing they can see or do about it.

  • 301 Wiki SSL redirect via Server Admin not working

I can't get http://myserver.com/wiki to redirect to https://myserver.com/wiki. I have other 301 redirects to send users to https pages working fine. How can I fix this? Thanks for your time - it's much appreciated. (Mavericks/Server Admin 3.1.2)

Regarding the redirect, I don't really understand why it's not possible. You can edit the non-SSL website in Web and add a 301 for /Wiki to redirect to https://myserver.com/wiki. In fact you can redirect the entire site to SSL - but that is problematic. I can understand why Mavericks server would be designed to automatically use SSL for wiki logins, if it's available. I only looked at redirects because this was not working. Without a redirect or with a redirect - I can login to Wiki via non-SSL or SSL. Where (specifically in which text file) are these redirects created using Server Admin written to? I can't find them in apache2/httpd.conf. Thanks again for your help.

  • Print Queue Management via Server Admin not working

We have Xserves (10.5.8) running the Print Service for queue management to our printers. Clients print through the server just fine.
When the printer jams or is otherwise paused, print jobs pile up in the queue as expected. The queue can be seen and managed by logging into the server, going to Server Preferences/Print & Fax and selecting the print queue.
However, when the queue for the paused printer is viewed within Server Admin/Print, the queue shows as empty and therefore can't be managed. We want to use Server Admin for this function because:
    1) Server Admin can be run remotely on a workstation, so no login to the server required.
    2) We can assign Print Service management rights to select non-admins so they can manage the queues.
Any ideas on why Server Admin fails to show spooled jobs? Is it working for anyone else?
I am using Server Admin version 10.5.3 which are the latest available that comes with Server Admin Tools 10.5.7. We had been running 10.5.7 on the Xserve and it didn't work then either.

Here's a bit more information about our setup and our experiences with Apple's CUPS implementation:

  • Server Admin not showing jobs in print queue

    Hi All,
I'm not sure if others are having this problem or if it's just me.  I am running Mac Server OS X 10.6.7  When I go to Server Admin and select "Print" and then "Job Status", I get a list of all the server's print queues.  In the pane below the list of queues, there is a section that says "Jobs on Queue:" which then allows me to select any specific print queue.  The problem is, no matter what queue I select, I am never able to see any of the print jobs going through the queue.  I have sent multiple jobs to different printers on the server, all while watching the "Jobs on Queue" window for the appropriate printer.  In every test, I have never seen ANY print job show up in that window, even though all the print jobs print out fine.  I have even tried pausing a printer to let jobs queue up, and still nothing shows up in that window.
I have also tried the same tests while viewing the prints queues from the "Print & Fax" System Preferences pannel directly on the server.  Still no luck.  Everything prints out fine, but I am unable to ever see any print job hitting the queue.
The reason I even noticed this problem is because a user accidentally printed a 500 page document by mistake.  The user called me to stop the job, but I was unable to see anything in the queue to kill.  I tried deleting the job directly from the printer, but this just caused the printer to lock up.  I would try powering off the printer and restarting it, but as soon as it powered back on, the print job would restart.  I even tried restarting the server, but as soon as the server came back online, the print job started again.  Finally, after hunting on the web, I tried logging into CUPS via http://localhost:631 and was able to see the print job listed there and finally delete it.
Is there any way to monitor print jobs on the server in real time?  I found this previous archived thread describing what appears to the same problems using Mac Server OS X10.5.8, but there was never any solution listed before the thread was archived.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2152737

Is there anyone using printing services on a Mac server at all that could comment on whether or not you see the print jobs listed in the queue when printing?

  • Server Admin not connecting to Leopard Server when accessing via VPN

    Hi everyone,
Recently, as the title suggests, Server Admin (or Server Preferences, for that matter) would not connect to my remote server via VPN. I'm quite sure that the server is working nicely, as the users (both of them lovely young ladies with considerable charms, which makes on-site support quite interesting, if distracting) didn't call me to complain, and I can login via SSH with no problems.
The server is a Mac Mini, connected to an Airport Extreme (gigabit N), which in turn connects to our ADSL modem, if that helps any.
Now, I did tinker around a bit with the settings before this happened, so I think it's probably my fault (well, I started my "career" of administering this server a week ago, what do you expect), so I suppose I may have inadvertently limited access to a service required for Server Admin and Server Preferences to function.
If anyone could tell me which services are absolutely necessary for Server Admin to function, or at least where to start looking, I'd be immensely grateful. I didn't yet go on site to try and wrestle the whole thing from there, as the travel costs are non-trivial, so I'd rather do it remotely, if at all possible.

This is exactly the difficulty I am having with a 10.5.4 Intel xserve. I have established a VPN connection that connects me to my business LAN, and I know it has carried out the connection because there are a number of things I can access properly that are not available on the public internet. For instance, my LOM ports are restricted to my business LAN, and when I connect to the server via VPN I can access teh LOM ports and using server monitor. However, when I try to use Server Admin, nothing works. It won't connect. I too am confused. All traffic to the xserve is allowed via the business LAN. I thought all traffic was supposed to be routed to the VPN server when connected via a VPN. If this is the case, shouldn't Server Admin work? When I go on site and connect my computer directly to the business LAN, I have no difficulty using Server Admin.

  • Reader OLE server does not draw PDF-document if paper size is too big

If PDF document paper size is for example A0 (841 x 1189 mm) OLE object can be created and application shows PDF content correctly. But if application saves it's document and reopens it Reader does not draw content of embedded PDF document any more. Decreasing PDF document size to A1 solves the problem. Embedded object is not corrupted because it is possible to open it to Reader.
I'm confused why Acrobat Reader OLE server is capable of drawing PDF file content in creation phase but not later on when application opens same file containing embedded PDF objects.
"Application" means all possible application that has OLE support. I have tried this with three different applications and the behavior is same with all applications. Because of this I assume that application I'm developing does not have bug.

    Hello Sig
The scanner works with a Windows computer, which proves the device is functional at a cursory level. The drivers are now distributed by Apple and this is an Apple computer. There is no scanning software provided by HP. HP's answer is that Mountain Lion takes care of all of this.  I anticipate that some setting or driver was somehow tweaked since the scanner had been working with Mountain Lion until a few days ago.  The device in question is an Apple product. So, I'm pretty confident that I'm in the right place.

  • Server Admin not responding after upgrade to 10.5.6

    Mac OS X 10.5.6 Server
    Upgraded from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6.
When you open Server Admin and click on the server in the right hand side list. It will not show any information. Removing the server and re-adding it solves nothing.
Connecting from another computer solves nothing.
I replicated the issue by completely re-installing OS 10.5.
Upon installing 10.5 Server Admin reported all information fine. After installing 10.5.6 update, Server Admin stopped working.

    Hi
+". . . click on the server in the right hand side list . . ."+
What Server Admin are you using? All the Server Admin applications I've ever used the server is added and accessed on the left hand side panel.
Do you perhaps mean Server Preferences?
Have you tried removing the listed server and re-add it using the server's FQDN, IP address, .local name or its loopback address?

  • Server Admin not showing IMAP connections and false Mailman status

Although several users are connected to the cyrus IMAP server (IMAPS/TLS) Server Admin reports zero connections. Also Server Admin reposts that Mailinglists are stopped but Mailman is running fine.
Any suggestions? I'm running Mac OS X Server 10.5.5 (9F33) and the same version of the Admin Tools.
    Best regards,
    Stefan

For mail status, do a comparison via the Terminal:
    sudo serveradmin fullstatus mail
But I have also seen this issue with 10.4 server (IMAP connections not reliably reported).
If you watch the system.log , you can see incoming connections (authentications) happen.
Another way to check for active IMAP connections is via:
netstat -anp tcp | grep 143
    (or, use 993 for IMAP w/SSL )
The best way to administer mailman is via its web interface, which you can access on your server via
    http://mail.yourserver.com/mailman/admin
where of course "mail.yourserver.com" is its FQDN without actual quotation marks.

  • Server admin not seeing directory users from workgroup manager

I am setting up a new Xserve with Snow Leopard (get 'em while we can). We have eight other XServes running Leopard or Snow Leopard server. On those machines we have set up file sharing over AFP. The machines are connected to our Active Directory server and our users authenticate using their domain passwords. All of our other servers were setup in Leopard and were upgraded to Snow Leopard. We have not had any issues authenticating to those boxes.
This is the first one that we have actually setup new-out-of-the-box in Snow Leopard. I can set Workgroup Manager up to connect to our AD, and can see and search my domain users and groups in Workgroup Manager. When I try to set up my File Shares in Server Admin, none of my domain users show up-only local accounts.
What have I missed? In Leopard, when I connected to the domain, the users immediately became available in Server Admin. Not so in SL, at least on this box.
    Help?

    Hi
The first thing to check is if you've bound the Server to the AD Domain. The second thing is if the /Active Directory/All Domains is in the Search Policy. If you don't do either of these WorkGroup Manager won't display anything coming from the AD Schema.
In 10.6 Apple moved the Directory Utility from where it used to be in /Applications/Utilities and made it part of the Accounts Preferences Pane. Perhaps it's this change that's confusing you? I would not advise doing this but it's also possible you used the Server Setup Assistant to do most of the configuration? If you did maybe something went wrong at that stage (won't be the first time) and you need to manually bind the Server instead?
As ever make sure this server is using the same NTP Server as the others.
    Tony

  • Mail service in Server Admin not saving changes

We have a Xserve with Snow leopard (10.6) and we have dovecot installed. We want to serve IMAP. According to mail it is on. Whenever we make any changes to the mail service in Server Admin and press save the values revert back to what they were (so no accepting the new values). We do not get any errors and we have checked the logs but nothing suggests why this has happened.
    Any idea's?
Alternatively, is there anyone here really familiar with DoveCot that we could speak to? or any companies to contact?
All we want to do is run/host our own IMAP mailserver.
