Server Busy, Switch To...

Upon Start-Up, I get the error message 'Server Busy, Switch to..."  However, most of the fixes for this involve using keyboard or mouse. They are currently inaccessible. I know it's NOT the keyboard or mouse functionality, however.  How can
I start up without this error message showing. I tried starting in Safe Mode to no avail.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Piper

Obviously.
The subject of this thread is "How to stop "server busy" switch to message.".
Therefore, my question, which I think was pretty clear, especially related to the thread topic was "Any update on this?! I've been through seven Customer Service calls/chats and still nothing has helped."
Where's you're confusion?

Upon opening LR I receive a "Server Busy" dialoge box: "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." I have no other programs open and when I wait a bit it clears with the 'retry' button. Happened following a recent update. I'd really like this to go away - any ideas?

For me this happens when I have Zenfolio or Facebook open in Google Chrome, even if Google Chrome is not active.  If you use Chrome, when the error shows up open Chrome and close each one of the tabs and click on the retry in Lightroom.  Also happens if Internet explorer is running with either of these two programs.

  • "Server Busy"

I've googled this problem and I can't find anything that
seems to apply to me. I'm sure it's come up here, so here is my
problem. I keep getting the error that says "Server Busy" "because
the other program is busy." I can either press the "Switch To ..."
button (which brings up the Start Button) or the "Retry" button
(which does nothing.) The issues I found from my googling involve
ZoneAlarm, IIS and/or World Wide Web Publishing Services (e.g.,
    see
here). I've done as suggested to locate these in the Start
button > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools
    > Services, but to no avail, none of the known issues can be
    found in the Services window.
Any ideas why I keep getting this annoying error? I'm all
    ears.

Are you using Zone Alarm as a firewall?
Are you using a testing server on this site?

  • "Server Busy" Error in Lightroom 4.1. 4.4 won't download/open properly

When I try to import new photos I get a "server busy" error in Lightroom 4.1.  I have to click cancel/reset/cancel/reset for about a minute to get just one photo to import.  Completely unacceptable if trying to import multiple photos.  I downloaded 4.4 most recently in hopes of fixing this buy, but although it downloads, once downloading Lightroom, hoping when I re-installed it would automatically accept updates, but that didn't work.  I still get server busy error.  My Lightroom is completely useless right now.  I'm working off a Windows system.

OMG... I'm such a nit-wit!!  I switched the setting in my camera to try something and forgot to swith it back!
I've been digging through this for more that an hour and never bothered to check the file setting.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Dreamweaver CS4 - Server Busy Problem

    I purchased Adobe Suite CS4
several years ago, received a serial number, and successfully installed
    all of the Adobe programs.
All of a sudden, when I click the
    Dreamweaver CS4 shortcut, the
Dreamweaver background appears, with a "Server Busy" box, with the
    error message "action cannot be
    completed because the other
    program is busy,
    choose Switch or Retry".  Retry
doesn't do anything, and "Switch To"displays the start menu.
I switched to Dreamweaver CS4 from the
all programs list, and Dreamweaver appears
without the "Server Busy" message, but then it reappears when
I attempt to set the site root folder.
I notice that there are two
Dreamweaver buttons at the bottom task bar (and that there are two
Dreamweaver programs in the task manager), but neither button functions
when I click on each one to try to close it.  Deleting one or the other
from the task bar doesn't eliminate the error message.
    In addition, Photoshop CS4 stalls
when it is trying to locate plug-ins.  However, Flash and Illustrator do
    execute properly.
Can anyone me advise how to solve this
    problem?
    Thanks,

  • DW CC 2014 Server Busy

Every time I launch DW CC 2014 on my Windows 8.1 machine I keep getting a Server Busy message where I can switch to the application or try again. Eventually it goes away but it really delays the start up time on my DW application. I have added DW to the trusted applications list for Kaspersky so I don't think that is the issue. Never had this problem with the previous version of DW CC. Anybody else running into this?

Any update on this?! I've been through seven Customer Service calls/chats and still nothing has helped. I'm getting quite frustrated.
Fifth or Sixth time I'm dealing with this issue. Still a major issue as it impacts my business. 95% of the time I start up Dreamweaver CC I get an error message that tells me "Server Busy" error message.
I've done all of the following:
    Restarted.
    Cleared My Recent Documents.
Used Adobe Cleaner Tool to uninstall and then re-install the app.
    Turned off AVG
    Turned off my Windows Firewall
Shared my screen with three tech support people with zero success.
I do have a local Admin account created and launching the app from there "sometimes" works, but I should't have to go to another account/user to launch this one app.
I've probably done a lot more but can't remember because there's been SO much work I've had to do to make this app work. WAY more than I should when paying for a service.
Why this app? And why is this being so incredibly difficult? I'm paying for a subscription and I can't use an app that is vital to my business. I'm getting tired of this and I need it fixed ASAP!
Seven, now eight times is too many. WAY too many.

  • Upgraded to Lightroom 5.6: Suddenly "Server Busy" dialog delays my startup for minutes

I upgraded to the latest 5.6 a month or so ago (whenever it came out I guess) and this "Server Busy" dialog loop when starting Lightroom started occurring shortly thereafter.
If I repeatedly click "Try Again" or "Switch To" things eventually start to work - no consistent pattern or timeframe that I can detect.
PC hardware is a Supermicro chassis with 2x5430 CPU, 20 GB of RAM, 2GB Seagate 7200 SATA drive(s) on an Areca RAID controller (in JBOD) for RAW image and catalog storage with LR running from the system's Win7 64 boot SSD and the LR cache set to a directory on an otherwise unused older 60GB SSD; oh, plus a pretty nondescript Radeon video adapter - can't remember what it is but it's nothing special.  There is no resource problem going on - this happens when only LR is running as well as under normal use; perfmon shows almost zero CPU and tons of RAM free.
Any tips to debug this?  It came on all at once, and I'm about 90% certain it was directly timed with the last upgrade.   I see some similar (but much older) threads on this type of subject, most were suggesting older hardware, although some said catalog corruption caused it.
    Thanks.
    Brent

Thank you to everyone who has viewed my question I appreciate your time looking to see if you could offer help. I was able to ad my 2014 file back into lightroom pretty easily thank goodness my 10 month old daughters whole life captured in digital files lives in there. I am still having my first problem reguarding auto importing so if any of you could weigh in on that I would really appreciate some help. thanks in advance everyone.

  • Getting Server Busy window when trying to download a .pdf file from any web site.

When the "Server Busy" window opens, there are 3 choices: switch to; retry; cancel. I select switch to; it starts downloading the file, but appears to be stuck/locked up at a certain point. I usually have to go to Task Manager and cancel the download. Sometimes, after trying different things, the .pdf succeeds in downloading' can't tell what does/doesn't work. Retry doesn't do anything. Cancel doesn't close the Server Busy window.

  • Server busy issue since i joined Creative Cloud

I had Lightroom 5 and then joined creative cloud and have been having issues ever since i signed up.  Every time i start lightroom i get a server busy error for hours on end.

A fix to Lightroom's “Server Busy Error” on a Windows 7 64 bit computer:
I see in the discussion threads there are a LOT of frustrated people over this Server Busy issue, so I hope this helps someone. This is what Adobe tech support had me do, which fixed my problem. I got through on the phone right away, and the fix took no longer than 20 minutes to determine, with the support person remoting into my computer.
I already had Lightroom 5.6 installed through my Creative Cloud subscription, and it had worked for a few weeks for me, although with increasing problems with the Server Busy box popping up. I was able to get rid of it by switching to Switch and Retry, but eventually it locked me out entirely.
Tech Support told me the problem was a permissions issue.
Try the following and see if it solves your problem:
In C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe, find the SL Cache folder and move it to your Desktop.
In C:\ProgramData\Adobe, find the SL Store folder and move it to your Desktop.
R Click on your Lightroom icon and “Run as Administrator”.
If it opens correctly, that shows it is working now.
Close Lightroom and reopen the application normally.

  • Server busy in Lightroom 5.7

    Hi there,
I am using Lightroom 5.7 and I am continously getting Server Busy error. I am on Windows 7 platform.
I have asked this question before as well on this forum but haven't received any reply yet. My work is totally held up can someone please help to fix it.
    Thanks
    Rohit

    Hi Keith,
The error message in the dialogue box says "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose switch To to activate the busy program and correct the problem" . Now if I click on switch to button  it just opens my start menus and pressing retry doesn't do anything. I do not even know what busy program it is refereeing to. I searched on the net and in some forums people said that switching off Windows search fix the issue I did that but it didn't work.

  • Server Busy - Lightroom locked up

    Hi
A couple of days ago my 2.0 beta started to lock up with a 'Server busy' "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'switch to' to activate the busy problem and correct the problem". I am not connected to a server and no other programmes are running.
This morning it is now locking up 1.4.1 every time I try to zoom to 1:1. As a result I can no longer use this software. I would ask Adobe to please look into this situation. I have had LR since 1.0 without this problem ever occurring.
It has been reported by other LR users on FM that it is due to a MS update but I have not attempted to remove the updates yet as only one of the supposed culprits was present on my system. I am using Vista Ultimate SP1 with auto updates on.
Any information or help would be much appreciated as I have a job due on Monday and cannot afford to spend a weekend trying to find the solution.
    Kind Regards
    Michael

    I've found "the" solution.
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit. (it should work for any version, Vista, and 7)
I tried turning off windows search and superfetch.
    That didn't work for me,
I tried disabling the windows search, and superfetch
I tried deleting the catalog and creating a new one.
    I tried uninstalling and reinstalling
    Nothing.
Same thing, Server busy, and when you click on switch to it opens the start menu.
You have to disable the two. Windows Search, and Superfetch.
1st turn them off under Administrator, Services
    Right click and click disable.
Then right click and click on properties.
In the drop down named Startup Type: move it to disabled.
    Repeat for Superfetch.
    Then reboot into safemode.
Open Lightroom there, either 3.2 or 3.3rc3
Create a new catalog, import a photo, try to print.
You won't be able to print but it will keep that action.
    Reboot into windows normally.
Open the program, and there you go. It will be functioning normally.
The problem seems to be that the catalog gets corrupted and the program can't open, even if you delete the catalog there is a remnant that stays with the program.
You most likely do not have to try to print, but it worked for me.
Let me know if this solves it for you.
    Thanks guys!
