Server deleted e-mail remaining on iPad
Hi all, I have an odd one for you.
I have pop3 e-mail accounts that I have setup on my iPad, but from my work PC I also use webmail. I have sync'd the iPad to my mail account and all went well. When I delete e-mail on my iPad I have it set so it deletes the mails from the server and this works correctly. But when I delete e-mail using the webmail they remain on the iPad.
What have I set wrong?
I have a brand new iPad 4
Ok, here goes....
E-mail sent to my email address.
Log onto webmail and email is invisible.
Check for new email on iPad and email downloads
Check webmail again and email is still visible
Check iPad again and email is still there
Log back onto webmail and delete email
Check email again on iPad (inc. send & receive) and email is still visible on iPad
At this point on the android device the email would've been removed from the tablet

You could try deleting it by logging into your account on a browser. Otherwise try turning the account off and on and see if you can then delete it : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely and try again when you re-open Mail : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
When I delete mail items on my Mac Pro it does not delete the same deleted items on my IPAD and I phone. I have to delete all items from each device. there must be a way to coordinate all three so that I can remove items on only one device and ICloud should coordinate them. Please help!
With iCloud emails (those of type me.com, mac.com or icloud.com), they should be deleted on all devices and computers when deleted on one - this assumes all devices/computers are logged into icloud using the same account.
For other email accounts that are not part of icloud, like Yahoo and personal domains, this will not work if the account is a POP account. In that case you must delete from all devices if the account is set up to not delete from the server.

We have several portable devices and a mini mac on our system and have found that if we delete an email on one device it is removed from others.
We don't want this, but at the same time we need to keep our devices clear of clutter.
It was suggested that switch off the sync mail switch in settings - Icloud, but this only works on IPads & Ipods

How to delete e-mail usage from ipad when there are no e-mails
i am trying to get more storage space and i have deleted all my e-mails but the usage still says i have 4.4 GB
used how do i get the device to recognize that there are no e-mailsNokia email client is not supported for my device (7610).
Also, it seems, there is no way to delete the headers selectively. Normally, when you want to handle the emails through your mobile device, you want to keep only important ones and delete the rest. So, possibly, Nokia can consider this for the future updates of the software, where user can delete the headers selectively to keep the inbox uncluttered and only as per the requirement. -

I have an imap account and deleted all mail from server. Once doing this all emails from my iPad -which was on a wi-fi- where automatically deleted. Fortunately these emails are still visible on my iPhone that was without connection. If I send all these emails to my iCloud account - they will remain into my outgoing folder until I open my wi-fi- …BUT will they be sent when I open my wi-fi connection, or since they are no longer on my server… be deleted for ever!?
This is how IMAP works, if you delete from one device it will also be deleted in the other devices.
iCloud do not backup e-mails. -
How can i link my E-mail with my iPad in a way that i can delete my messages from my email inbox server also not from my iPad inbox only?
Because when i delete emails from my iPad inbox, it will be deleted on my iPad only but when i check my email inbox server from the browser its not deleted!

Insert your backup disc (or plug your external hd), then open Mail.
In the File menu, click *Import Mailboxes* and follow the steps for a *Mail for Mac OS X* transfer.
Navigate to your CD/DVD's or external HD's backup and hit "OK".
This should create a new "Imported" folder in Mail with all your old messages in it, that you can then rearrange as you wish, creating new mailboxes etc.

I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through regular internet connection. Lately, when I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear, downloaded anew from the server and marked as unread. My e-mail Advanced Settings are selected for "Remove from server when moved from Inbox." Even when I access the e-mail accountfrom my desktop and delete the e-mails, the re-appear on my iPad. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to actually delete them?
Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.

I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

I want to free thousands of mails listed on my IPad Google account saturating and congesting my tablet but without deleting the original emails at the server. Sorry to repeat. It has been some time since I used POP3 on my iPad, it is just not a very good way to manage email between multiple devices. There is no check mark to simply change the Gmail account from IMAP to POP on the iPad. You will have to delete the account from the iPad removing all the email already stored on it. Once you have changed the server settings at Gmail you have to re-create the account on the iPad. Now that it is POP3 you should have a setting in the iPads settings to not delete the emails from the server when deleting them from the iPad. Once the new account is created on the iPad all the email on the server will download again and have to be deleted from the iPad. You will have to reset other devices as well, although Gmail may be able to handle both settings at the same time but they may conflict.
For your use, you may simply want to just use Gmail through Safari where you will be viewing your email directly from the server through the web browser. No messages are stored on your iPad, they are all managed on the server through your web browser. There is also a Gmail app available which may also leave all the messages on the server although I have not experience with the app.
When I had an email account set to POP3 I had the iPhone and iPad set to not delete messages from the server when I deleted them from the device. I had my home computer set to remove them from the server when they were deleted from there. It does work although each device is independent, reading a message on 1 device would not mark it as read on the other device. I ended up having to administer the email on 3 different devices even though they were the same account. -
IPad Pop3 email deleting from mail server even though set to NEVER
Hello.
We are experiencing a most strange behaviour with our e-mail. We use a web host and access e-mail through POP3.
Two of our users are experiencing similar problems, and this is how their lives are setup:
1) Outlook 2010, set to remove e-mail from server once downloaded, however, we are manually polling to receive e-mails at will, rather than periodically.
2) iPad 2 3G - Set to delete e-mails from server "never".
3) iPhone 5 (ios 6) - Set to delete e-mails from server "never".
One of the users is receiving e-mails to their iPad, but not to either of the other two devices, sometimes to the two i-devices but not t Outlook, and sometimes to all three. Occasionally, they are not receiving e-mails at all.
I have talked to our web host, and in all instances and testing we have done with them, they can see e-mails received, and deleted from the server. However, their logs cannot tell us anymore than that.
Here's the scenario:
1) Send an e-mail. Check the web host e-mail interface and can see the e-mail has arrived in the user's inbox.
2) Open e-mail on iPad. Receive e-mail. Refresh webmail to see if e-mail is still present, and it is.
3) Hit send/receive in Outlook 2010. E-mail not received in Outlook 2010. Refresh webmail to see if e-mail is still present. It is not.
So from all indications, it looks like doing a send/receive in Outlook is deleting the message from the server, but it is not being received in outlook. I should note here that we have done extensive searches to check if the e-mail was received into some other folder, and have setup a search folder of all e-mails received today, just to make sure we weren't missing anything. The e-mails are indeed never reaching Outlook.
If we hit send/receive in Outlook 2010 after we receive the e-mail on the iPad AND HAVE CLOSED THE E-MAIL APP on the IPAD, then we DO receive the e-mail into Outlook 2010, and it disappears from the server.
This would leave me to guess that POP3 is trying to latch on to the e-mail on the server from both the iPad and Outlook 2010 at the same time and is failing, but Outlook is deleting the message from the server before it can actually download it because iPad has POP3 locked.
Anyone have any experience with this? Any way to stop it from happening?Was this ever resolved?

One of the e-mails in my ipad deletes messages automatically after reading without backup. What do I do to correct this so that my mails would remain in the inbox for reference purpose?

I'm having problems with excessive email usage on my iphone 4/ios 7. Just noticed that it (settings/usage) was using 900+ mb. I deleted all my mail, deleted the mail account, turned the phone off and back on, downloaded any remaining mail on the server to Outlook on my computer, and it still says it's using 661 mb. My ipad uses a fraction of that.
Background: I recently (December) bought an ipad and set up icloud for contacts and calendar, but NOT mail. My email provider is Verizon. I use computer, iphone, and ipad to check my email; eventually I download it from the server using Outlook on the computer and then delete any remaining emails from the phone and ipad. It sounds like your iPad all of a sudden seems to be restarting out of no where. If you haven't called AppleCare yet, I would start with quitting either the app that seems to be causing the issue, or all the apps if a single doesn't seem to be the culprit.
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

My ipad will not connect tot he server when trying to access my mail. This has been happening since last Sunday. Some have said it is due to the latest software update. I am able to connect to the internet.
I am not having this issue on iPhone.
I checked all the settings, the wireless router in my house and at work.
I have completed a hard reset of the device.
I had our IT guy at work look at it.
He said to contact Apple....
Any thoughts?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. When I delete e-mail on i-phone, it delete web mail server mail also.
I like to keep these web mail server mail.

However, last week on my iPhone, my bellsouth.com account kept coming up with "the POP server is not responding," but the account worked on my Macs and my iPad. I deleted the account and added it again. Now it seems to be an IMAP account (the POP server still does not respond). When I access the "advanced" tap in the setings, when I click "Deleted Mailbox" under "Mailbox Behaviors" it appears to show an option to leave mail in the server inbox but the word "Inbox" is in grey and not clickable. Has ATT changed its servers?
