Server slow to start and won't upload files

Server was working fine but now starts rather slow (at least a minute to see the login page) and when I try to add assets nothing happens. I can export assets from the library with no problem, but cannot create new assets. Do I need to re-install?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Go to the Log in the Admin area of the Java GUI. Do you see any repeating messages? Your system could be looping on something. That's the first place to look.

  • MacBook suddenly very slow to start and operate

    Sudenly last week my MacBook becomes very SLOW to start and to operate. Until last week it was working fine.
    I do not believe to have perform anything abnormal and what is new is just the normal updating of the Softwares that is performed automaticlly every week.
    I tried to shut down and restart several time.
    I tried several time to reinstall Mac OS 10.6.8
    I checked the hard disk with Disk utility and it results OK.
    What to do ?
    Thanks

    Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

  • I have a Seagate Slim Portable 500 GB USB 3.0 external hard drive that worked great with my Macbook Pro 13" Retina but gets ejected and won't show files on any iMac.

    I have a Seagate Slim Portable 500 GB USB 3.0 external hard drive that worked great with my Macbook Pro 13" Retina but gets ejected and won't show files on any iMac. My Macbook Pro and the two different iMacs I tried it on were all using Mountain Lion, so the only difference was the iMac versus Macbook Pro.

    I just tried this, no luck...
    I connected a different USB cable, still the same problem. Tried both cables with the problematic hard drive on two different computers, still the same problem.
    At this point I assume I'll probably need professional help in saving the files, thanks for the assistance.

    Hi, I need Photoshop Organizer to stop automatically start and try to organize files when I insert a card in the reader. How do I do that?

    Hi,
    Which operating system are you running on?
    Which version of Photoshop Elements are you using?
    The automatic running is usually invoke by your operating system. For instance in Windows 7, go to the control panel and select Autoplay. There, look for the action when pictures are detected - it is probably set to elements. Set it as you want.

  • Firefox slow to start and websites won't load?

    Setup: Windows Vista. Firefox 4.0.1. McAfee Total Protection 2011. Wireless home network.
    As of yesterday everything worked well. Tonight I am having problems 1) connecting to the internet - I have to reconnect to my router before it accesses the internet 2) Firefox either doesn't start or is very slow 3) when it does finally slow, all the websites eventually time out and won't load.
    Last night I extended my McAfee - didn't have to d/l or install anything and earlier today my computer did some kind of update. The only way I can get any websites to open is to shut off the firewall in McAfee, then things seem to work fine but I don't want to leave it off for obvious reasons. Oh and I did set up a new Windows user profile for my kids but I don't see how that would really affect anything.
    Is there some kind of setting I need to change? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Why does my Mac Mini running on Mavericks take so long to start and load apps?

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

    Well, it is definitely a file system issue but of course it won't be an nfs issue if you have a local mount point. I resolved this issue in UNIX by unmounting the file system is question.
    I didn't realize how important the . and .. directories are to SAP executables.
    In my /usr/sap/<SID> path, only "." showed up in when using the ls -l command with the <sid>adm user.
    As root though, the "." and ".." paths were listed.
    After unmounting the file system I saw that the path was owned by roo.system.
    Changed the file system ownership to <sid>adm:sapsys with full permissions(probably not needed).
    All is well... took quite a while to find this... then of course, found OSS note 1917102 which pointed to OSS note 130683 (which had my solution. note title is misleading and I overlooked it at first.)
    Hope this saves someone valuable time.

  • MacBook Pro is slow to start and shutdown

    hi
    i have macbook pro 15 inch retina
    from laat months its become slow in start up and shoutdown?
    why?
    how can  solve it
    tnks

    hm... that's weird.
    Someone at MacRumors suggested to clean the system cache and it seemed to have fixed this issue for him:
    sudo chown root:admin / (enter password when asked)
    sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
    sudo kextcache -system-caches

  • Photostream works for a while, then stops and won't upload to iCloud anymore.  Rebooting the phone resolves the issue.  Anyone know why?

    I have an iPhone 4S.  Photo stream works for a while but then it will just stop and not upload any photos to iCloud.  Rebooting the phone resolves the problem.  This happens very often and is frustrating for something that should just work.  Once they get uploaded, they are downloaded to other devices without a problem.
    Any idea what could be going wrong with it?  I hate taking pictures of stuff that I need on my other devices not knowing if they're going to make it there or not.
    Thanks!

    Hey Allistah,
    Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like Photo Stream works but stops and a restart fixes it. A frustrating situation for sure. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iCloud: Get help using My Photo Stream

    Close the Camera app on the device that took the photo. Photos won't upload from an iOS device to My Photo Stream until you close the Camera app.
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • IPod Mini doesn't show up in ITunes and won't upload songs.

    My iPod Mini shows up on my computer, but it doesn't ever show up in ITunes. I am using a computer that already had ITunes installed and was used by my sisters iPod. Does this matter? The manual says ITunes should open automatically and then transfer songs; ITunes doesn't open auto. and won't transfer songs to my iPod. Help!!!

    What kind of computer are you using, Windows or Mac?

  • Network daemon is slow to start and netfs fails, why?

    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond sshd alsa)
    If I have a network filesystem that needs the network (duh) to initialize
    during netfs, it will fail.   Why?  Because network is taking a while
    to actually create the network, and it is doing it asychronously.  What I mean is that
    the network script completes and the boot process then continues to netfs, but
    in actual fact, the network isn't up yet!
    If I put code in the network script to make it wait for a few seconds before completing,
    in order to allow the actual network to come up, I can get the network to come up
    and be ready before netfs runs.  And netfs then runs fine and starts it's file systems.
    But, why is networking taking so long (like 6 seconds) to start, and why
    doesn't it block during the init process, so dependancies will be assured
    to have it when they run?
    I'm somewhat new to ARCH.  Came from Gentoo, don't remember this being an
    issue over there.

    It's wired, and static IP.
    However, I forgot to mention that I'm bringing up a bridged interface.
    BRIDGE_INTERFACES=(br0)
    bridge_br0=(eth0)
    br0="br0 192.168.0.40 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
    eth0="eth0 0.0.0.0 promisc"
    INTERFACES=(lo br0 eth0)
    Perhaps herein is the problem.....

  • Worn down. Hours w tech support. Yosemite won't upload files

    II'm die hard mac person. I think I'm done. I've spent hours with tech support. Nothing fixed. I've done clean install. sisconnected bluetooth. You name it.  I have clients waiting for files that will only upload at snails pace. Nothing works.  Yosemite?  It's a joke. I cannot believe this is happening.  I'm disgruntled. Mad. And frustrated.  New modem. New router. New Mac router which was slower. Frustrated?? Yes. My clients are mad. Top off my day my new iPhone 6 (which I ordered through Apple Store and was not treated well) Wld not make calls today. No one else on verizon in the area had problems. I am a single mom of 4. I'm getting my mfa. I have spent more time dealing with tech support and this issue of not being able to upload files than I have accomplishing what it takes to put food on my table.
    wwhat am I supposed to do??
    bloody frustrated.
    TO type this from my iPhone. I have had to stop and start no less then 5 times because it's not working right.
    I Guess I am going to have to start looking at how I am going to come up with money for a new computer (non mac). I have had it

    It is a bummer to have this problem. Can you describe the specific steps you are using to upload files? It is difficult to help problem solve without more information. Are you using Dropbox? Email?

  • Get filesize and filename of uploaded file

    Hello -
    I am somewhat of a newbie and am need of some assistance.  I am using ADT to upload a file and save to a database along with its filename and filesize.  The file uploads fine, but the filename and size are not being recorded in the database. Other fields that are part of the upload form save to the dB fine.
    Here's the basic code:
    // Add columns
    $ins_UserBackgroundPapers->addColumn("FileContainer", "FILE_TYPE", "FILES", "FileContainer");
    $ins_UserBackgroundPapers->addColumn("FileName", "STRING_TYPE", "POST", "FileName");
    $ins_UserBackgroundPapers->addColumn("FileSize", "STRING_TYPE", "POST", "FileSize");
    <form name="form1" method="POST" id="form1" action="<?php echo $editFormAction; ?>" enctype="multipart/form-data">
         <input type="file" name="FileContainer" id="FileContainer" size="32" />
         <input name="FileName" id="FileName"  type="hidden" value="<?php echo $HTTP_POST_FILES['FileContainer']['name']?>" />
         <input name="FileSize" id="FileSize" type="hidden" value="<?php $HTTP_POST_FILES['FileContainer']['size'];?>" />
         <input class="submit" type="submit" name="KT_Insert1" id="KT_Insert1" value=";Upload"/>
    </form>
    I've also tried using $_FILES["FileContainer"]["name/size"] with no luck.
    Any help would be much appreciated. I'm desperate!
    Thanks.

    I think the main issue is that the file name does - unlike expected - not get stored in the FileContainer column, but I don´t have any idea why this happens without seeing the complete code of the page in question.
    In regards to retrieving the file size:
    Those hidden fields you´re trying to make use of:
         <input name="FileName" id="FileName"  type="hidden" value="<?php echo $HTTP_POST_FILES['FileContainer']['name']?>" />
         <input name="FileSize" id="FileSize" type="hidden" value="<?php $HTTP_POST_FILES['FileContainer']['size'];?>" />
    ...can´t capture the additional info you want, because the very moment the form data gets submitted, the file itself has not neccesarily been uploaded yet, in particular when ADDT´s File Upload trigger has been set to AFTER -- and it´s important to consider that the $HTTP_POST_FILES[] values are assigned at the server side and not by the browser anyway.
    However, additional information such as the size of an uploaded file doesn´t need to be stored anyway, because such information is easily retrievable by using the PHP function "filesize": http://de.php.net/filesize
    Cheers,
    Günter
    P.S: $HTTP_POST_FILES[] is deprecated since PHP version 4.1.0 -- better use $_FILES instead: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.files.php
