Servers are Inaccessible Via Some Wifi

So I've set up two different Arch64 servers in two different locations on a college campus, and I've used the same set of iptables rules for each (it was a set of rules I recorded from reading through the arch wiki). I find that if iptables is running on one of the servers, it will be accessible via ssh and http from any wired or wireless connection off campus, and any wired connection on campus - however, it will be unaccessible by a wireless connection on campus using either ssh or http. I know it's weird... If I use '/etc/rc.d/iptables stop' to stop the service, the problem is resolved. However, I would like to be able to run iptables, and access the servers via wifi on campus. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? Below is the set of commands I issued (as root) on each server to set up the iptables rules...
nano /etc/conf.d/iptables (set IPTABLES_FORWARD=0)
iptables -N open
iptables -N interfaces
iptables -A INPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -j interfaces
iptables -A INPUT -j open
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -j REJECT --reject-with tcp-reset
iptables -A INPUT -p udp -j REJECT --reject-with icmp-port-unreachable
iptables -P INPUT DROP
iptables -P FORWARD DROP
iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT
iptables -A interfaces -i lo -j ACCEPT
iptables -A interfaces -i eth0 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A open -p tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A open -i ppp0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A open -i foo -p tcp --dport 65000:65005 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp ! --syn -m state --state NEW -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -f -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --tcp-flags ALL ALL -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --tcp-flags ALL NONE -j DROP
iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -s 10.0.0.0/8 -j DROP
iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -s 172.16.0.0/12 -j DROP
iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -s 192.168.0.0/16 -j DROP
iptables -I INPUT -i eth0 -s 127.0.0.0/8 -j DROP
/etc/rc.d/iptables save

I think I'm trying to connect over normal ports...One of the servers has a domain name (namely http://norpass.com) and what fails on campus is...
- ping norpass.com
- ssh (username)@norpass.com
- accessing norpass.com on Firefox
If I'm off campus or on the campus' wired network the three things above work perfectly fine...
The issue with the other server (which does not have a domain name but does have its own externally accessible IP address) is exactly the same.

  • After a period of time the tab bar stops scrolling or scrolls eratically, the first and last tabs are inaccessible via the mouse

Over the period of a day or three the tab bar stops responding to attempts to scroll the tab bar. I can still advance through the tabs with ctrl-tab and shift-ctrl-tab but the tab scroll arrows either don't work at all or work erratically.

A "solution" that requires restarting the program is not a solution at all. This is a bug in Firefox - once you have enough tabs open, tab scrolling becomes unresponsive, and tabs at the far right and left cannot be tabbed to at all. It is also not a solution to open less tabs; if I want 50 tabs open, and work best that way, then FF should permit that. It does not do so now.
    Thanks.

    Thank you.

    Correct.
On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.

    Jloe,
As I have posted before, You, and others having issues with Verizon would be much better off if you complained to the FCC and FTC as well as your Senators and Congressmen.  We, as individuals, have such small voices - use them where they might do the most good.
Also, don't assume that Verizon doesn't monitor these postings, they actively do & sometimes contact those that post complaints.
    Sorry for your problems.  GC

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you,  , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Hope that help you understand

i keep trying to restore my iphone 4s as there is some lag so i need to install 5.1.1 but it keeps telling me servers are temperarily down.      according to me it permanent     what can i do to fix this issue

Either your security software is blocking access to Apple's servers, or your computer was used at some time in the past to hack or jailbreak some iDevice (not necessarily the phone you are restoring), and your computer's network database has been corrupted. If you know this is the case edit your "hosts" file and remove all lines containing "gs.apple.com". If you are sure it is not the case temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall.

  • Some wifi hotspots are invisible for nokia 5800

my problem is that some wifi hotspot are not visible for my nokia 5800.
I know the wifi hotspot is there because I can connect to it with mij laptop.
Also, a friend of mijn can connect to the wifi hotspot with an HTC telefon.
I can easily connect to my home wifi and other hotspots without any problems,
but some hotspots just won't connect.
For one particular hotspot, I know it doesn't use mac-filtering and doesn't
require fixed ip adresses. And I was able to connect to it in the past, but
    it is invisible now.
what could be the problem and how can it be solved?

checked the filtering list, no networks are filtered.
the problem must be something else.
as I said, laptop sees hotspot, my friends HTC sees the hotspot, Nokia 5800
sees the hotspot sometimes, can connect sometimes, but when connected
gets error message (gateway can not be found - something like that).

  • Some threads are inaccessible on forum.

I know that development/maintenance on forum seems to have stopped...but:
    re:Date Formatter - formatting time
some threads are inaccesible, with no indication of why. It just times out, not seeming to follow any sort of pattern. I find these threads through search, so they actually exist (or did at one time...). This happens frequently.
Had to vent...it's always the good ones, where the first words match my problem exactly, that are inaccessible ;).

Unfortunately you have tried everything short of replacing the keyboard. I think that is the next step and I am pretty sure it will fix the problem. Do you want a manual and a link to a place to buy the keyboard?

  • HT3529 why do some messages in a string get sent via iMessage (blue) while others in that string are sent via SMS (green)?

why do some messages in a string get sent via iMessage (blue) while others in that string are sent via SMS (green)?

Because the other end may not be on a data network and can receive SMS only at that time. Also if imessage can't send via imessage then it will fall back to SMS if you have that turned on.

the appletv will not be able to work on it's own
you can use a computer or iphone acting the role of hotspot login using it's browser and getting internet access and then sharing it with the appletv
so the appletv sees it as a wifi router it connects to

  • Outgoing mail isn't sent when connected to some wifi networks

Although my outgoing mail goes out just fine on cellular networks, and on my home wifi, outgoing mail isn't sent when connected to some wifi networks.
I use the apple outgoing mail server.
What is unusual however is that my outgoing mail address is not from a standard domain.   I have my own.
Could it involve an spr record?

Do you have a wireless network at home and Is the email account provided by your internet service provider associated with your wireless network?
Most, if not all internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated. The same applies when connected to the internet via the cellular network. Recieving is not a problem regardless the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time.
If the email account is provided by your ISP, most ISPs do not have an authenticated SMTP sever for the email account they provide.
Both my email accounts have an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had a problem sending with either account regardless the ISP associated with a wi-fi network I'm connected to at the time or when connected to AT&T's cellular network - for 2+ years aporoaching 3 years this July.

    Hello, lustige luka.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The Personal Hotspot feature using USB  should be as simple as connecting the device to your Mac via the USB cable when Hotspot is enabled.  Here is some more information regarding this feature and an article that will provide some troubleshooting steps if you are experiencing an issue.

    Hi,
From the logs, looks like the Java is not able to connect to the ABAP via the RFC.
ERROR no conversation found with id 14387978
Check the SAPJSF user which is required for communication between ABAP and Java stacks. Check for roles and if it is locked. Also you could try a server restart, which may reset the conversation IDs.

  • I've been having trouble with in getting iMessage to send messages. I decided to connect to my VPN (along with wifi) and it worked. Why won't it work via my wifi connection alone?

  • IPad will not send mail, but iPhone works. Outgoing servers are set up the same. I tried shutting off iPhone to not confuse the wireless network. Still doesn't work.

Can't send mail from iPad but IPhone is sending. Outgoing servers are set up exactly the same. I closed both safari and mail on the iPhone to try and avoid conflicts with iPad. I also shut down and restarted iPad. Still won't send.

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
