Service Failure

I bought my daughter's iPod mini in August 2005. It failed early in December, and we recived a replacement model on Christmas Eve. The replacement model failed yesterday (after 7 day's normal use). When I try to log a further service request, I am told that the warranty has expired.
Please tell me how to overcome this problem. Thanks in anticipation.

If you go here http://www.apple.com/support/ and type in the serial number (bottom right) it will tell you if the iPod is indeed under warranty.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 - Offline Servicing failure - Failed to find or access the update binaries to be applied on the image

    Hi there
Trying to patch a new Windows 7 SP1 image within SCCM 2012 SP1, but it's failing.
I've searched for information on the failure messages I am seeing, but although there is a LOT of information online concerning Offline Servicing failures, I can't find anything on the errors I am seeing.
I've tried injecting a single update, five updates and ten updates, no difference, same messages.
We have McAfee Access Protection disabled, as we know Offline Servicing simply won't work if this is running.
In the console, in Schedule Update Status for the image I am trying to update, the following message is shown:
"Failed to find or access the update binaries to be applied on the image."
That sounds as if the process can't find the actual .cab file for any update I've tried to inject, but I don't know why it wouldn't be able to do that, we have Software Updates configured and the .cab files are on the same server.
When I looked at the OfflineServicingMgr.log file, I see the following entries:

I'm not sure what file "Failed to find properties of file 4" is referring to, whether dism.exe, an update or the image itself, but immediately after this message appears the image is unmounted. After that this message shows:
"Completed processing image package PackageID. Status = Failed"
As I say, there's a lot of information available re Offline Servicing but I haven't found anything with these particular messages.
If anyone has encountered this before, I'd appreciate any information you have.
    Regards,
    John.

    Hi,
I think file named 'NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS’ might be causing this issue. If this file is present in logical drives, then please give it a shot one more time after deleting this file from the logical drives.
Due to this file, it might be preventing 'smsexec' service to skip the drive when looking for content. So worth a try!
After deleting this file, you also need to restart 'smsexec' service to reflect the changes. You can also verify from below registry value & ensure that all of your logical drives (specially where SCCMContentLib directory resides) should be listed
    over there
    'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\DP\ContentLibUsableDrives'
    Hope this will help!

    Hi All,
When I try to open PIA 3 tier I'm getting following error on webpage: "bea.jolt.ApplicationException: TPESVCFAIL - application level service failure".

  • Systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service failure

    Good evening friends.
I recently made a fresh install of arch linux on my pc and since the first boot up i get this error:
    systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service failure
Failded to start create volatile files and directories
When i used "systemctl status" command on it, it said something about unkwnon groups in usr/lib/... somewhere, i can't remember all of it, because after i rebooted and tried the same command, it only said that the process failed, without giving much on details.
What might be the problem here?

Just a guess, but I think you might have some unknown groups in usr/lib/... somewhere.
You'll really need to try harder to get the logs. They're still in the journal.
    Thanks for the answer.
Well, i'm still working on the log finding part, as i'm not sure where they are supposed to be. I checked the /var/log folder files, but it seems that they are not readable/binary maybe?
P.S. Is this something that i might ignore if i don't find a way to fix it?

  • External Service Failure: There was no Content-Type header

We have developed a web service using WLW and deployed it to weblogic 8.1 (install from scratch), we manage to invoke the service successfully. However, when we deploy it to the weblogic 8.1 server installed through PeopleSoft PIA , we keep getting the 'External Service Failure: There was no Content-Type header' error.
Does anyone know what are the differences for the weblogic installed through PeopleSoft PIA or how we can get around the error? Thanks!

    Hi Jerioon,
Which Master Page and Content Type did you use when you created a new page layout with Designer Manager?
Whether you could provide a screenshot about this issue.
In addition, here is an article about creating a page layout with Designer Manager, please take a look at:
    http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/03/03/create-a-custom-page-layout-in-sharepoint-2013/
    I hope this helps.

  • Tuxedo calls procedure and Application Level Service Failure

    hello ,professors all!
My Tuxedo Service just call an procedure exists in oracle9i, i am sure that the procedure runs ok in oracle9i individually, when it was called by my tuxedo service , it is not ok by first time ,and runs out tp application level Service failure error .But strangely it is ok by second time!
who can explan it to me and show me a way to solve the difficult problem?
i spend a lot time wondering the answer!
    Edited by: user9086437 on 2010-9-29 下午9:57

There are many possible reasons why a database procedure might fail the first time it is executed and succeed after that.
You should check the Tuxedo ULOG and Oracle database logs for any messages that may point to the problem.
If there is a LIBTUX_CAT:6205 or LIBTUX_CAT:6206 message in the userlog file then you need to add a tx_open() call to your server's tpsvrinit() or tpsvrthrinit() function.
If there is an OPENINFO string for the group where your server is running then you are using XA transaction management and should not be connecting to the database in your application code; if there is not an OPENINFO string for the group where your server is running then you need to connect to the database in your application.
If you set the environment variable
    TMTRACE=*:ulog:dye
for the server where the failure is happening then Tuxedo will write a trace record of each Tuxedo call and each XA call to the ULOG file. This can be helpful in determining why the failure is happening on the first call, especially if Tuxedo is handling transaction management using XA.
I hope some of this is of help in debugging the problem.

  • Error: Halting this cluster node due to unrecoverable service failure

Our cluster has experienced some sort of fault that has only become apparent today. The origin appears to have been nearly a month ago yet the symptoms have only just manifested.
The node in question is a standalone instance running a DistributedCache service with local storage. It output the following to stdout on Jan-22:
Coherence <Error>: Halting this cluster node due to unrecoverable service failure
It finally failed today with OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space.
    We're running coherence-3.5.2.jar.
Q1: It looks like this node failed on Jan-22 yet we did not notice. What is the best way to monitor node health?
Q2: What might the root cause be for such a fault?

    Hi
It seems like the problem in this case is the call to clear() which will try to load all entries stored in the overflow scheme to emit potential cache events to listeners. This probably requires much more memory than there is Java heap available, hence the OOM.
Our recommendation in this case is to call destroy() since this will bypass the even firing.

  • Mac OS services failure

this is for an iMac flat panel display
after installing many upgrades and rebooting get black screen error"kernal panic cant find driver for ACPI.....jan 3-2006 kernal"
Iv tried 4 or 5 rescue CDs, repaired permissions, even Disk warrior 4.0 wont repair, says "Disk warrior 4 rebuilt directory, but cannot replace due to a mac OS services failure"
    HELP??
    mac OS services failure

    Hello again:
If DW cannot repair the problem, you need to either reinstall OS X (if you are able, I would use an archive and install) or take the computer to either an Apple store or to an Apple-certified technician for help.

how to get local information ,not global information ?
    thinks!!!
    Edited by: 998527 on 2013-4-7 上午7:27

    See the TA_FLAGS in the docs;
    TA_FLAGS
Long valued FML32 field identifying generic and component MIB specific flag values. Component MIB specific values that may be set in this attribute are defined within each component MIB reference page. Generic flag values and uses are listed below.
    MIB_LOCAL
This flag is used to modify retrievals from certain classes defined in this MIB. For a number of classes in this MIB, there exists both global information (available at any site in an active application) and local information (available on the particular site where the object is active). Requests to retrieve information from these classes will by default retrieve only the global information and not the local for efficiency. If the application user is willing to wait for local information to be collected, possibly from multiple sites, this flag should be set on the retrieval request. Classes with local information have local attributes listed last in the attribute table with a subheading indicating that they are local attributes. Classes which have only local information will automatically default to retrieving local information even if this flag value is not set.
    MIB_PREIMAGE
indicates that a pre-image check must be passed before a SET operation will be performed. A pre-image check insures that occurrence 0 of any MIB specific class attributes match the existing object. If so, the object is updated using occurrence 1 of any MIB specific class attributes. Attributes occurring less than two times are not considered for pre-image checking. Multiply occurring fields are checked if their associated count attribute is specified twice.
    MIB_SELF
This flag is used as a shorthand to indicate that identification attributes for the client or server originating the request should be added to the request buffer prior to processing. For clients, TA_CLIENTID is added and for servers, TA_GRPNO and TA_SRVID are added.

I experienced total service failure in zip code 70119 & 70122 at the New Orleans Jazz Fest.  No send / receive of data, voice or text.  I use an iPhone 5s running the latest OS.  I had better service during all hurricanes, except Katrina, of course.  The only evidence I have of this are screenshots of pinwheeling texts and Facebook posts.  Oh, and I have a very ****** off wife for not being able to contact me.  This was a first, but it was a weekend-long frustrating affair.  Please address this before next weekend's Jazzfest.  I'm not the only Verizon customer pinwheeling.

  • Disk Warrior - Mac OS Services Failure

Having used DW 4.4 on a Mountain Lion Macbook I am unable to replace the rebuilt directory with the above warning.  Any ideas how to combat this?
    Regards

Try this, from a post on another site:
If an application on OS X has damaged the Journaling data, then when you try to run Disk Warrior, you may get this error:the new directory cannot replace the original directory due to a mac os services failure. You may be able to work around this problem by temporarily turning off Journaling via Disk Utility:
    Open Disk Utility
Select the Volume of the drive
Hold down the Option key on the keyboard
Go to the File menu – select Disable Journaling
Now run Disk Warrior again. Afterwards, you can turn back journaling.
If you continue to have problems, you may need to clone or backup the drive to an external, reformat the internal drive, and clone back or reinstall Mac OS X and restore your data. Alsoft may have additional suggestions.
    Regards.

  • WSUS service failure and uninstall error 0x80070643

    Hello
I recently had a drive fail in a RAID 1 array on a Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 domain controller. The drive was replaced and the array successfully rebuilt the drive. Our domain comprises a Win2k8 DC (which WSUS is installed on), a W2k3 DC, a W2k8 Storage
Server and various W2k, Win XP, Vista and W7 clients.
WSUS3 SP2 is installed on this computer and had been working fine. After the drive was rebuilt WSUS stopped working. WSUS is organised as follows:
The drive is divided into 3 partitions. C: contains the program files, D: contains the WSUS database and update files. E: is a system recovery partition.
After the drive was rebuilt I had a problem connecting to the WSUS console. I am logged on using the domain administrator account. I restarted the server last night in the hope that it would solve this issue. After restarting, the problem persists. When
I start Windows Server Update Services from Administrative Tools the centre pane shows a large red X and 'Error: Connection Error'. The option to 'Reset Server Node' results in the same error. The error, available from 'Copy Error to Clipboard' is:
The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API.
Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.
The WSUS administration console has encountered an unexpected error. This may be a transient error; try restarting the administration console. If this error persists,
Try removing the persisted preferences for the console by deleting the wsus file under %appdata%\Microsoft\MMC\.
System.IO.IOException -- The handshake failed due to an unexpected packet format.

The event logs show that the Update Services service started 7mins after the server was restarted. This is immediately followed by an event stating the Windows Update service had started. If fails soon after and is restared automatically twice to try to
recover from the failure. 12 hours after the restart the Update Services service is still not running. It is set to Automatic (Delayed Start). The service is set to logon as 'Network Service'. The service can be manually started, but 'Resert Server Node' again
results in the same error. After 4mins the service will stop. Event 7034 is logged:

IIS and SQL are running fine as far as I am aware. I also have Sophos Enterprise Console installed which uses SQL to store it's data and that is working fine.
After a bit of searching around the 'net I thought the easiest solution would be to uninstall WSUS, leave the database and update files in place and then re-install. I ran the uninstallation procedure from the Server Manager, but because the service is not
running, and even after starting the service, uninstallation fails:
Windows Server Update Services: Removal failed
Error: Attempt to un-install Windows Server Update Services failed with error code 0x80070643.  Fatal error during installation
I saw a reference to the online article located here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sus/archive/2008/11/05/how-to-manually-remove-all-of-wsus.aspx but the article states it is out of date and I did not want to make a bad situation worse by following the instructions.
Can anyone help me with this, please. Ideally, I would like to be able to keep the updates as downloading them again will consume a substantial amount of our monthly allowance. However, if the best thing is to remove the entire installation, then I will
    ahppily go with that, too.
    Thanks.

I'm experiencing this issue, but haven't been able to resolve it with the steps in Lawrence's post (and, another thanks from me for another detailed post from Lawrence!)
It's a 2008 box which had a relatively new WSUS install that just stopped working - not sure why.  Unable to figure out why it had stopped, I tried to Remove the WSUS role, but that failed with the error above.
During the manual uninstall steps above...
    (1) Using Windows Installer Cleanup Utility only showed the Windows Internal Database, not WSUS.  I removed
    that.
    (2) Removed %ProgramFiles%\Update
Services - other resources not present
Reinstall has now failed with this error:

Would anyone on the thread have suggestions for what I might be able to do, to wipe the slate clean with the Internal
    Database on this box?
The WID is not used for anything else, but there is other production software installed, (using SQL - not relevant, just
mentioning) and reinstalling the OS is not an option.

The problem is that tmpfs is mounted at '/tmp' through '/usr/lib/systemd/system/tmp.mount'
If that is true (could you show output of mount and your fstab?) that is worth investigating.
However, your original problem seems to be that systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service fails. If something is wrong with your mounts, that could be related, but it might very well be something else. Is there any more information in the journal to indicate why the service fails (maybe even mentioning a tmpfiles.d config file that is responsible)? Did you create any config files for tmpfiles.d yourself?
Sorry guys, I tried to be concise, but ended up that I didn't make myself clear.
My '/tmp' is mounting fine as it takes priority over systemd. In fact, what I wanted to say is that '/tmp' mounts fine, systemd tried to mount tmpfs at '/tmp' and fails and I want to point tmpfs to mount at '/run/tmpfs' which I created for this, but just editing '/usr/lib/systemd/system/tmp.mount' didn't solve.
As for journalctl, it repeats several times this message:
    Mai 02 22:43:32 arch_vinnom systemd[1]: systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Mai 02 22:43:32 arch_vinnom systemd[1]: Failed to start Create Volatile Files and Directories.

    hmm
I created my /var during arch installation, with mkfs.reiserfs.
    Using
    tune2fs -l /dev/sdXY | grep "Default mount options:"
To check if acl was already enabled, I got:
    [root@arch_vinnom vinnom]# tune2fs -l /dev/sda5 | grep "Default mount options:"
tune2fs: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sda5
    Couldn't find valid filesystem superblock.
Then I searched a bit and noted that reiserfs isn't compatible with acl =/

  • SMTP service failure

    I have been quite happy with JES messaging server 2005Q4 until recently. The other night SMTP service failed at around 1:04am. I had to restart the processes using "imsimta restart". Then, last night, the same thing happened again but this time at 1:29am. I had to restart the process again. I got the following alarm message from the server before it stops responding (similar alarm for the other night as well);
    Server instance: /opt/SUNWmsgsr
    Alarmid: serverresponse
    Instance: smtp
Description: server response time in seconds
    Current measured value (13/Jun/2006:01:26:21 -0700): 80
    Lowest recorded value: 0
    Highest recorded value: 80
    Monitoring interval: 600 seconds
Alarm condition is when over threshold of 10
Number of times over threshold: 10
I checked my cron list to see if something is running around that time, but nothing. There is also no clue in any log files including /var/adm/messages and /var/opt/SUNWmsgsr/log/* . Nothing has been logged about any failure or error.
I enabled the watcher to restart the failed processes now, but I need to know why it started failing.
I also tried to find a correlation between the number of SMTP connections and that failure. Although it seems to be unneededly high due to spams, there are some other times that it hits much higher values, and it survives. So, it does not seem to be the number of connections handled by the server. It is something else, but what?
    Any comments!

    Here are the details;
    1) lithium# imsimta version
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-3.04 (built Jul 15 2005)
    libimta.so 6.2-3.04 (built 01:43:03, Jul 15 2005)
    SunOS lithium 5.10 Generic sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIi-Engine
    2) - SMTP was not responding.
    - No core file.
    - I do not know how to allow/disallow a core file. But, I guess, the system can produce a core file, because I have seen core files couple of times so far while I was trying to get it running during the installation phase.
    3) The followings are taken before the restart:

  • Supplementary error service failure 8520

    hello
I just bought a used blackberry 8520 from a mobule service centre  because my bb 9000 was stolen . thisphone has some problem everytime I reboot the access bar doesnt reach to end till its not dissconnected , and once I start the phone everytime there is a message SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE ERROR : SYSTEM FAILURE . I cannot activate my BIS , my BBM. WIFI and other features like sms, normal phone is working perfectly fine though. Please help kindly

    Hello !
Firstly, SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE ERROR, is not an error to be worried upon.
It is highlighted mostly after every call which You make it from your BlackBerry Smartphone.
Secondly for activating BIS, you need to contact your service provider.
Once activated, you'll get to see "EDGE" symbol on your homescreen, near network strength signals.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!
If your problem has been resolved then would request you to Click on "Like" and accept as "Solution" so that other Advisors doesnt invest their time on this Message anymore.
    Thanks.

This script is able to send notification only for the respective service that I have configured it to Run upon failure.
My requirement now is that the script should be able to detect out of the 6 app services that are down & should append the email body with the name of that service & send an email.
I understand Wscript.argument(0) can be of use but not able to use it. Could you kindly help?
    Thanks,
    Pankaj
P.S: I am not a developer, so kindly bear with me :)
