Service Level Accounts (error 500)
Hi experts,
We have performed a BPC7 installation at a client but it seems we are having some trouble, not with the install process itself but with client access (we are getting http error 500).
The problem seems to be linked with the service level accounts that the company has set-up for the BPC server. The company is very security-concerned so the system-admin account that has been provided has reduced rigths. The installl guide states that BPC sysadmin should be:
- Member of the Local Administrators group
- Member of the SQL Administrators group
- Preferably be member of the domain users group (we're on a monoserver environment)
We meet all three requirements but obviuosly we are missing something as we cannot access te server. The client web component works if we connect from the server.
Does anybody know what these service-level-accounts minimum requirements are? The client is very security-aware and would like to keeep this account as restricted as possible
Kind regads,
Ibai Madariaga
Hi Ibai
From my understanding, HTTP 500 means internal server error, Have you tried modified your web.config file and chaning custom errors to off. This will provide you with a details exception message, which should hopefully point you in the right direction, also in your servers event log, are there any authentication failure events for the user which is running the Osoft components and services?
You mentioned that that the client web component works if we connect from the server. do you mean when using the server console . i.e. Http://localhost/osoft ?
If you are able to view the SAP BPC landing page from the server itself, and are only experiencing the issue from the clients connecting to the server, are you sure that the users have the neccesary rights on their local machines, has the server been added to the local users machines trusted sites configuration in IE?
Kind Regards
Daniel

Service level accounts and security policy
Hello Experts,
We would like to roll out production environment at a customer. The documentation does not provide very good solution for the scenario when service level accounts are changing.
Customer's security policy requires all administrative accounts to be named e.g. firstname.lastname@domain. Generic productadmin@domain which are not identifiable can not be used on production servers.
It is understood that the BPC application server runs using the permissions granted to the user ID which was used during installation (access to the Windows AD, SQL Server &c.
If specific domain user is also member of local administrators group, he/she can indstall the product. However, if this particular account is made redundant and the administrator's role is appointed to another employee, the latter can not access the system with administrative rights.
Moreover, if the BPC administrator's account is disabled for whatever reasons, the system fails.
Is there any good suggestions for this kind of scenario?
ThanksThanks Scott,
This is what I have suggested but the problem is that the customer's policy does not allow anonymous accounts controlling their production systems, the administrative accounts can only be personal accounts like firstname.lastname@domain.
It seems that the only solution is to use administrator's personal credentials and in case those change, they need to go through the Ops guide and change everything manually.
Lucikly there is a bit simpler way to do this. Instead of manually changing credentials for every COM+ app as Ops Guide suggests, you can olny change three of those:
OsoftDatabaseADMIN
OsoftDatabaseSYSADMIN
OsoftDatabaseUSER
Then use Service Manager password reset function and it will update all COM+ apps in one go. -

Azure Cloud Service internal server error (500) while scaling up
I experienced multiple times that scaling up a Cloud Service from 1 (small) instance to 2 (small) instances causes a few minutes of downtime with request returning a an error 500. Is this how it's supposed to work?
Thanks for the reply!
Every initialization code is in OnStart() and in case of .cmd scripts, in <Startup> <Task>s inside the service definition... So I suppose until that is run to completion the Azure load balancer shouldn't dispatch any requests to the new instance.
I tested today everything again, this time with Windows Server 2012 R2 (the Cloud Service didn't use R2 before). The issue is the same:
Scaling up the service to two instance.
Second instance is being deployed and starts.
Requests going to the first instance work (i.e. since clients stick to their instance users who visited the site before the scale-up will continue to be serve through the first instance, hence not noticing anything). Requests going to the second instance
don't work (internal server error), but the main issue is that requests start to go to the second instance before it is fully initialized!
(I.e. Azure Management Portal says the role is starting, but still, I can manage to get my request to it, thus I suppose the load balancer does dispatch requests while the role is not fully started yet.)
Failed request tracing doesn't show anything related (it started to trace after the role got full initialized, but requests reached the instance before this). I can clearly see from the event logs that the ARR installation (run as a startup task) ended after
the first requests could reach it.
To summarize, when scaling up the following happens with the second, initializing instance:
The instance's state is correctly shown on the Management Portal and it's busy, starting.
The instance still gets requests before it gets fully started.
After the instance is fully started everything works normally.
Is this normal? -
Sip 503 service unavailable and sip 500 internal server error
Hi guys, could any one help me in the following.
ITSP-->Voice gateway configured as CUBE-->CUCM-->UCCX
I am moving a system from cme and aa enviroment to cucm and uccx
The VGW is configured as CUBE and also is added as h323 gateway on cucm.
When i tested the debug ccsip messages shows
Sip 503 service unavailable or
sip 500 internal server error.
I can't now provide any debugs cause i am not on site, only on Saturday.
As i read in previous discussion that could be the bind source address problem but i had this configured.
Also i tried to configure the gateway instead of h232 to use sip trunk from cucm, but after this the incoming calls didn't even reach the router, the debug ccsip messages showed nothing.
For now can any one advice me to what these 2 errors related to.
What could be missing?
Thanks in advance.Hi there : can some one explain the reason that i am getting this sip error with itsp:
here is the debug of ccsip messages:

Error 500--Internal Server Error in Oracle SPARQL Service Endpoint
Hi,
I followed the instructions of "Setting Up the SPARQL Service" in the developer's guide. However, after I finished all the steps and click "Submit Query" button in Oracle SPARQL Service Endpoint using Joseki page, I got this error message:
Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
I can't figure out what's wrong with the service. Can anybody pls help me solve the problem? Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards,
Honghi zhe,
i installed the right version of jena adapter for oracle 11.2.01 and recreated the data source in WLS. however, i still got the same error when click joseki sparql service end point. but, the first error message is different than the second time. it is shown below:

then getting the error The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error
not being able to understand where i made the mistake. mistake is in the code of web service end or in calling code?
help me to fix this issue. thanksHi Mou,
I just tried your win app code about calling web service, but failed. I got the 500 error after I called your service:
The error message I quoted from Fiddler:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"><soap:Body><soap:Fault><faultcode>soap:Client</faultcode><faultstring>System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Failed : Invalid credentials ---> System.Exception: Invalid credentials
--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
at BBAReman.WebSearchIndex.SearchDataIndex.StartIndex(AuthHeader auth)</faultstring><faultactor>http://www.bba-reman.com/Search/SearchDataIndex.asmx</faultactor><detail /></soap:Fault></soap:Body></soap:Envelope>
I am not totally sure that error occurred by the authentication. But I suggest you can try to add this service into your project using this method below:
1.right click the Reference and select Add Service Reference
2.input your service link and click "Go"
And you can use this service as the following:
private async void callService()
ServiceReference1.SearchDataIndexSoapClient client =new ServiceReference1.SearchDataIndexSoapClient();
var Str= await client.StartIndexAsync(new ServiceReference1.AuthHeader { Username = "Admin", Password = "Admin" });
Please try it.

Will

--SteveSteve,
The 500 error is what we get back from the target server.
This is probably not a bug since I don't think that MII has ever supported the SOAP-Fault node to build the response XML.

ADFS 3.0 - Internal Server Error 500, Event ID 342
Hello all,
I have a trouble testing ADFS 3.0 (Windows Server 2012 R2) working in a clean test Azure VM environment.
First, I did a standard setup (DC and a separate ADFS server machine) with all the default settings, letting wizard to set up gMSA service account for the ADFS service. It did not quite work – details below. Then I reinstalled ADFS following this setup guide:
http://www.schmarr.com/Blog/Post/12/Installing-Windows-2012-R2-Server-ADFS-Service-
It did not help.
Here is what happens: when I try to request SAML security token calling: /adfs/services/trust/13/UsernameMixed server responds with http error 500 - internal server error while call to /FederationMetadata/2007-06/FederationMetadata.xml returns expected result.
Please advise. I have no clue what could be wrong. Log messages below.

In a multi-server FARM deployment, I’m struggling to get the workflow manager to finalise via the PowerShell command, Register-SPWorkflowService.
When executing the command (Register-SPWorkflowService – SPSite
http://[FQDNSite] –WorkflowHostUri http://[FQDN]:12291/ -AllowOAuthHttp –Force), I get the error mentioned in the title.
When digging deeper into the logs (Applications and Services
à Microsoft Workflow à Operations) I get the following warnings and errors:
(Warning)
Failed SQL command after 1 tries with error '18456'. Exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection, Action`1 wrapCloseInAction)
(Error)
Error processing management request. Method: GET, RequestUri: http://[FQDN]:12291/ServiceManagement/$System/$Metadata/json/1/, Error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException
(0x80131904): Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
It is my understanding that the PowerShell command takes the context of the logged on user for this command.
I’m logged in as “FARM” account and the script window was opened under “Run as Administrator” instruction.
All checks have been completed and all services are running as expected.
GET-WFFarm and GET-WFFarmStatus returns normal. All services are running under domain accounts with sufficient privileges.
Workflow Manager CU2 to get 1.0 Refresh and Workflow Manager 1.0 Refresh is currently NOT installed as it didn’t work before when these updates
were installed.
Under the CA patch level page, I did pick up the following KB being required under Microsoft Workflow Solutions Framework (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2880963).
Installing this is my next step.
Is there anything else I should try or is the patch the next best step?
http://fhpienaar.wordpress.com/ (BLOG) http://www.mint.co.za/ (Company WEB)Looks like C# code and you've posted to the Visual Basic forum.
Anyway, an error 500 means that there is a problem accessing the resource in the web request. There could be many reasons for this so I would verify that the web request is correct first and if it continues to fail then the resource (web page?) needs to
be fixed before your code will function.

Redwood User Account error on Job
Hi All,
We currently had all our BWP jobs fail with the following error:
JCS-00503: OS account SYSJCS does not exist or is disabled on BRSAPPRDBWPV2
JCS-00315: job must run under OS equivalent of Oracle account SYSJCS
We run our oracle database on a Windows 2003 environment and also our Redwood/SAP servers are on a Windows 2003 server.
The job itself users "USER" account.
The only way we could get the jobs to start was by restarting the BWP Redwood services, and this worked fine.
Also want to state the we had the following issue at the sametime which was flagged up to us in "messages":
resubmit.update_job:
ORA-04061: existing state of package body "SYSJCS.CHAIN" has been invalidated
ORA-04065: not executed, altered or dropped package body "SYSJCS.CHAIN"
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "SYSJCS.CHAIN"
All our BWP process chains are executed via the RUN BW CHAIN script, which is copied and renamed for the process chain.
We have tried to replicate the error in our dev environment but it worked fine. RFC points nothing at all.. Any help would be much appreciated. OSS note has been raised...
Thank You
JazzHi Jazz,
The SYSJCS.CHAIN package is not used for BI Process Chains, only for CPS Chains. So the invalidation must have come from another source.
When this error occurs, as long as there are sessions started before the package has been re-validated (state reinitialized), you can continue to run into this error until all sessions have been restarted. The extend of the error depends on the package being reinitialized (how often it is used and the dependencies it has) and the session that needs to call it.
I think the error may already have been there before you did the chain import and just happened to surface shortly after the import.
Regarding your other questions:
1. RSI_IMPORT_BW_CHAINS or RSI_IMPORT_BW_CHAIN_DEFINITIONS:
the second one is only needed if you want to display the process chain definitions in the web interface before the chain is even running in CPS (in the job monitor you only see the processes that have started); if you do not use that, RSI_IMPORT_BW_CHAINS is enough
2. How would you go about maintaining BW process chains in Redwood (CPS)?
This is a question that every customer runs into at some point. First, you currently can not change a process chain definition in the BI system from CPS. Then there are cases where you probably want to leave the process chain structure intact (typically on the deepest level: drop index, do some work, recreate indexes). And there are other cases where it can be useful to bring some logic to CPS (typically on all levels where you have process chain within process chain in BI, ie. on all but the deepest levels).
For this last case, which is of course the most interesting for CPS, it can be very valuable to recreate the BI "meta-chain" structure in a CPS job chain.
So here you replace the BI "meta-chain" calling several BI process chains by a Cronacle job chain still calling some of the BI process chains (the ones on the deepest levels).
Now you can add all the CPS extras for error handling, retries, cross system dependencies, (external) events, alerting, etc. etc. on each and every point in the CPS job chain, so you get a lot more information, intervention and recovery points on your BI process than you would when running the entire thing in one big BI Process Chain (triggered from CPS or not does not matter).
Typically the customer's decision here mainly depends on the advantages that can be achieved, especially if there are service levels to be met on the reports that need to be delivered from BI and these deadlines tend to get tighter by the month.
By reducing the total runtime of the process or reducing the number of errors that occur or if they occur, the amount of work to fix it, you can save a lot of time, and thus money.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Anton. -

Any ideas?
fyi that while installing, the % complete jumps from 40% suddenly to 72% and then to 97% .. Till 40% complete, its slow and steady.
I ve downloaded several times fresh and still the same issue.
I am not sure how i m missing any missing any classpath or files. This is what is happening when i start the integrated weblogic server and run the adf application.

ERROR ON BROWSER
Error 500--Internal Server Error -
Office Web Apps 2013 Error 500
Below I configured Office Web Apps 2013, on 2 servers,
SharePoint 2013 SP1 Enterprise Edition August 2014 CU on Microsoft Windows Server 2013 R1
SP2013ServerWFE-AppServer
Office Web Apps 2013 August 2014 CU on Microsoft Windows Server 2013 R1
OFFICEWEBAPP2013SERVER
After my install, I can see that the preview displayes for the site I am on I am NOT logged on as the System Account or Site Collection Admin, just a user.
I then try to display the file below it and this is where I get the error 500
This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.
The website cannot display the page
These are the steps that I have just taken to try to enable this process.
I went to SP2013ServerWFE-AppServer – SharePoint 2013 Server
SharePoint 2013 Management Shell as Admin
Remove-SPWOPIBinding –All:$true
Went to OFFICEWEBAPP2013SERVER – Office Web Apps 2013 server.
PowerShell, as Admin.
New-OfficeWebAppsFarm –Verbose –InternalUrl "http://SP2013ServerWFE-AppServer" -ExternalUrl "http://SP2013ServerWFE-AppServer" -AllowHTTP –EditingEnabled
–ClipartEnabled -AllowCEIP
On the OFFICEWEBAPP2013SERVER server, open up IE
NETBIOS
http://OFFICEWEBAPP2013SERVER/hosting/discovery
FQDN
http://OFFICEWEBAPP2013SERVER.COMPANY.DOMAIN.local/hosting/discovery
Both worked!
Go to SP2013ServerWFE-AppServer – SharePoint 2013 Server
New-SPWOPIBinding -ServerName OFFICEWEBAPP2013SERVER –AllowHTTP
Worked, ran:
Get-SPWOPIZone
Set already but if needed to, could have changed, kept it as was below.
Set-SPWOPIZone -zone "Internal-http"
Now I get the error. Am I missing something?Get-OfficeWebAppsMachine
MasterMachineName MachineName Roles
HealthStatus
2013OWAOFFWA01 2013OWAOFFWA01 {All}
Unhealthy
It shows unhealthy, thanks to your having me check.
I just went and did Remove-OfficeWebAppsMachine and
