Service Pack 1 & CU DEC 2014 installation procedure

Hi together!
A short question on the update process for SharePoint 2013. Altogether I'm quite aware of the update process and all the pitfalls that come with it. So, we're on March 2013 PU and planning to install
Service Pack 1 AND December 2014 CU in one rush. In addition, at least one (German) language pack is installed.
Is it correct to install all the binaries on every SharePoint server first (in order SP1, Language Pack (LP) SP1, DEC 2014 CU) and THEN run the Config Wizard sequentially on all servers? Basically,
this method should be valid and correct, however, I'm not sure if in case of SP1 a Config Wizard run is neccessary directly after installing SP1 with LP and if that is finished proceed with CU installation.
Thanks for your support!

I have done exactly what you describe without an issue.  Having said that I normally do the upgrade to SP1 with LP and then run the Config Wizard.  Then go back and do the CU install and run the wizard again.  As I said, I've done it in
one session, but would recommend doing the SP1 first.

See the following article for dealing with Apple Mobile Device Services: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
Downloading and installing iTunes will not fix this problem. If the other troubleshooting steps do not work, go to the Control Panel and uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Services, Quicktime and any other Apple program that might be present. Reboot your computer, then download and install the latest version of iTunes.

  • Related to "service pack is a full installation"

    Hi
In Metalink if patch have mentioned this line in ReadMe doc " service pack is a full installation" (for essbase client, Essbase server, EAS and Aps)
Can i go and install without installing and configuring earlier version?
I mean should i install new patch directly without earlier version of similar Hyperion component to save my time.
    Version 9.3.1

If it is a full installation and there is no mention of having to install the previous version then you should be alright just to install that version.
    Cheers

  • Audigy 4 asking for XP Service Pack 2 CD, no such th

When installing Audigy 4, the software asks to put in the Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD. Of course there is no such CD as this PC came with Service Pack and was on line updated to Service Pack 2. The installation won't complete and continues to reinstall.
The actual message is "Some files on Windows XP Professional Service pack 2 CD are needed". This is very disappointing.

  • Windows vista service pack 1 keeps installing

My computer crashed, so had hard drive reformated and re-loading Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. Doing all the updates via Windows Update, I get to Service Pack 1. It installs successfully, but won't move onto Service pack 2. I have like 10 supposed successful
installations of Service Pack 1. I even downloaded SP2 and of course it won't install because it says I have to install SP1 first. Read documentation, searched forums and didn't find an answer to this problem. I even downloaded "Mr Fixit" and this didn't help.
I'm somewhat technical, but not a pro. Can's figure this out. Can someone help or point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Maybe im just stupid... But NOTHING that anyone has posted here has helped me at all :P Could someone please explain to me what i need to do to install service pack 1 and 2... I could find someone named Betts83 on the forums that someone said i should
go to and read some posts i found 3 posts.... One that was this exact thread, one that was posted 1st of November and another one wich was posted in 2012... The one from 1st of November didn't help me... And it was the one people said i was suppose to go to
to get help, but it still didn't to anything. Im starting to get impatient because i want to install Assassin's Creed 3, but it requires service pack 2 or higher to run! Maybe because this thread is so old i probably wont get an answer but if someone
would help me fix it it would be much appreciated.

  • Need SQL Server service packs installation procedure

    Hey Guys,
I am in the process of installing service packs to my SQL Server 2008 and R2 editions, I was searching for the installation procedure in technet for this but nothing was provided for this, I tried to read the
"readme" and setup documentation provided in the SP 4 download page but its useless since its redirecting again to some other page which again points to same download page, It makes me wonder if there are any procedures provided by Microsoft for
this. Let me know if anyone has it. I don't want to follow any third party websites/ individual bloggers providing best practices/installation procedures.
My Environment: SQL SERVER 2008/ R2  (STANDARD)  and these are standalone
    machines.

Copy the patch files to the server
Run the patch file and follow the on-screen instructions
Select the instances that you wish to patch
    Allow the patch to finish
Reboot if a reboot is required (the patch will tell you if there were any locked files)

I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do since all recommended solutions I've found are for installing the latest service pack or cumulative update (from threads several years old).  By installing service pack 3 we are at the latest upgrade path for 2008
R2 and ironically enough, this is what appears to have broken the click once installer.

    Hi Matt,
This is an known issue in SSRS 2008 R2 SP3. For this issue, Microsoft has published an article addressing this issue. It is not planning to release a fix for this defect. But there's workarounds for this issue. Please refer to the link below:

  • Office 2013 with Service Pack 1 installation error about "search path"

I have an automated installation technique that has worked fine with Office 2010 Pro Plus (32-bit), incorporating the latest Service Pack into the network administrative installation point (under \updates), adding 10 foreign languages to the network administrative
installation point, creating a custom .msp with the OCT (that goes into \updates too), editing the config.xml files, and then running setup.exe from that network administrative installation point. This works on 32-bit Windows XP clients and on 32- and 64-bit
    Windows 7 clients.
For Office 2013 Pro Plus, I have built the network administrative installation point exactly the same way (original DVD files + languages + SP1 updates + config.xml updates), but the installation is failing with every type of client, all with
the same error message. The network administrative installation point is readable by the normal installing account, but I even get the same error when I login as me and initiate setup.exe manually, and I have all rights to this point.
Here's the critical point from a log file:

I cannot find any references to this exact error anywhere on the Internet. Can anyone tell me what this means, and how I fix it?

As automated, the utility that runs setup.exe maps a drive letter to
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt using a kboxmap AD account, which has read access to the whole \KBOXalt tree. I used that same kboxmap AD account manually to simulate what the utility does, and hit the same problem. But here's what's
    odd: right next to that
    \\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2013 directory is an
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2010 directory, both created the same way, and the Office 2010 installation has always worked perfectly using the kboxmap AD account. I don't understand why Office 2013 is only working for an account with
read/write access, where Office 2010 worked fine for an account with only read access. Especially when the Office 2013 resource kit documentation clearly states that the account running the installation should only have read access, nothing more. (All this
KBOX stuff comes from the fact that our deployment environment is a Dell KACE KBOX 1000. However, that plays no part in the problem: ignoring the KBOX 1000, I can manually recreate the problem every time.)

You don't mention which specific version of the operating system that you are using - Windows XP, Vista, or 7 and whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit version.
FWIW, kernell32.dll is a Windows system-level module, so it's possible that you have some corruption in your Windows installation which is preventing FM from launching.
Also, 2Gb of RAM is a bit lean for FM.

  • SQL service pack installation

Installing SQL 2005 through SQL4SAP.VBS will install its available service pack 2 automatically (or) Do we need to install manually.
Can we install the service pack 2 manually even after SAP Installtion .If so,please give the procedure.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Installing SQL 2005 through SQL4SAP.VBS will install its available service pack 2 automatically (or) Do we need to install manually.
It will automatically install in the process of SQL server installation.
Later you can even install SP3 which is available on Microsoft website.

  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 Installer

So I have a relatively simple application.  I it just reads and writes CAN data using a Vector CANcase USB CAN device, and these drivers.  I developed the source in LabVIEW 2012 SP1 in Windows 7 x64.  I built the EXE and it works fine, I then made an installer.  Under the Additional Installers I only included the NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2012 SP1 f9.  I unchecked all the components under it because I knew I didn't need them.
I tested the installer on my XP SP3 machine and it worked great.  Then another user wanted the software and had XP SP2.  I tried the installer and it said it requires XP Service Pack 3 or newer.  So I opened the project I used to make the installer, and under the "System Requirements" it already had the oldest option selected which was Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later.
My solution is to update the PC and it is in the process of doing that right now.  So for me this is fixed, but is this an issue? And anyone else that sees this issue you aren't crazy.

If 10 out of 10 experts in any field say something is bad, you should probably take their opinion seriously.

Yes, I've had the same problem. I believe it had something to do with .NET (on which some NI components rely?) only being supported by XP SP3.
If you read here - it mentions that the latest service pack may be required for some operating systems.
The one thing that is weird is that the 2012 LV Runtime apparently supports all service packs of XP but the 2013 Runtime only supports SP3. Actually, looking at the download page for the 2012 SP1 F9 runtime it says it only supports XP SP3 so during one of the updates they must have changed the minimum requirement.
Maybe you could try installing an older version of the LV2012 runtime which works with SP2?

  • Having problems downloading itunes 10.5.2; box states windows installer issue. I have a 2005 with windows XP and service pack 2. Any ideas?

Just bought a new ipod touch for my daughter.  It won't sync without itunes 10.5.2 loaded on our computer (a 2005 HP with Windows XP and service pack 2.)  When I've tried to load 10.5.2, I get an error message box stating there is a problem with my Windows installer.  I've tried loading the windows installer hot fix KB942288-v3-x86, but it didn't help.  Any suggestion?

    Hi Lorheak,
thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.
    Greetings Gert

    Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted.  I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar
    article.
