Session variable filters in the integration between OBIEE and webcenter

Hello All,
I have a customer with the requirement to make sure that reports created in answers and containing sessions variables in filters definition will be correctly filtered once called from webcenter.
So if an OBI report is diplayed in webcenter and contains the same type of filters (based on session variable), will the results be filtered based on the specified variable?
In other words can we use session variables in the integration between OBIEE and webcenter?
Thanks Olayinka

Have you follow all the steps written here :

  • How does the integration between CRM and SD occur

    How does the integration between CRM and SD occur?  Is only via ALE and are there config steps in CRM to ensure the correct data mapping between CRM and SD?
    So, if I create an order or quote in CRM how is it then created in SD?  Or do they share the same data store.
    thanks

    Hi John,
    Here is good documentation regarding Data Exchange for Sales Transactions: the CRM Enterprise and the ERP System are two different repositories, If you create the Sales Order in CRM then they will be replicated into SD (using CRM Middleware, BDoc's)

  • Some questions about the integration between BIEE and EBS

    Hi, dear,
    I'm a new bie of BIEE. In these days, have a look about BIEE architecture and the BIEE components. In the next project, there are some work about BIEE development based on EBS application. I have some questions about the integration :
    1) generally, is the BIEE database and application server decentralized with EBS database and application? Both BIEE 10g and 11g version can be integrated with EBS R12?
    2) In BIEE administrator tool, the first step is to create physical tables. if the source appliation is EBS, is it still needed to create the physical tables?
    3) if the physical tables creation is needed, how to complete the data transfer from the EBS source tables to BIEE physical tables? which ETL tool is prefer for most developers? warehouse builder or Oracle Data Integration?
    4) During data transfer phase, if there are many many large volume data needs to transfer, how to keep the completeness? for example, it needs to transfer 1 million rows from source database to BIEE physical tables, when 50%is completed, the users try to open the BIEE report, can they see the new 50% data on the reports? is there some transaction control in ETL phase?
    could anyone give some guide for me? I'm very appreciated if you can also give any other information.
    Thanks in advance.

    1) generally, is the BIEE database and application server decentralized with EBS database and application? Both BIEE 10g and 11g version can be integrated with EBS R12?You, shud consider OBI Application here which uses OBIEE as a reporting tool with different pre-built modules. Both 10g & 11g comes with different versions of BI apps which supports sources like Siebel CRM, EBS, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards etc..
    2) In BIEE administrator tool, the first step is to create physical tables. if the source appliation is EBS, is it still needed to create the physical tables?Its independent of any soure. This is OBIEE modeling to create RPD with all the layers. If you build it from scratch then you will require to create all the layers else if BI Apps is used then you will get pre-built RPD along with other pre-built components.
    3) if the physical tables creation is needed, how to complete the data transfer from the EBS source tables to BIEE physical tables? which ETL tool is prefer for most developers? warehouse builder or Oracle Data Integration?BI apps comes with pre-built ETL mapping to use with the tools majorly with Informatica. Only BI Apps 7.9.5.2 comes with ODI but oracle has plans to have only ODI for any further releases.
    4) During data transfer phase, if there are many many large volume data needs to transfer, how to keep the completeness? for example, it needs to transfer 1 million rows from source database to BIEE physical tables, when 50%is completed, the users try to open the BIEE report, can they see the new 50% data on the reports? is there some transaction control in ETL phase?User will still see old data because its good to turn on Cache and purge it after every load.

  • Is it a Bug? Integration between Dreamweaver and Fireworks is broken in somewhere?

    I can not upload images related my topic here but you can see
    it in the same topic at
    http://www.fireworksguruforum.com/index.php?showtopic=14282
    I use CS3 Suite. It is a big trouble for me in working on
    real pages. Integration is broken in somewhere else and after that
    point it becomes impossible to work on Fireworks through
    Dreamweaver.
    I've made test to show this trouble and I narrowed the
    problem to the pictures as shown in the figures below,
    1) In figure one I am creating a completely new Fireworks
    file as arrow.png with two frames and one slice in it. After I am
    saving it as .png I am exporting it as .html with images in /images
    subfolder.
    2) After saving and closing the file in Fireworks, in figure
    two, I am opening the html in Dreamweaver and changing the page
    properties by writing zeros to page margins and by changing the
    default font.
    -----I guess in this point something happens which breaks the
    integration between FW and DW--------because;
    3) In figure three I am opening the .png through Dreamweaver
    (by "Edit") and changes the place and size of the slice a little
    bit
    4) When I press Done in Fireworks I see this picture in
    figure four in Dreamweaver which shows integration between FW and
    DW about table structure is broken. (In this point if I add any
    behaviur to the slice DW doesn't recognize it, or any other change
    in FW can not be recognized by DW)
    5) In order to show this broken integration in table
    sturucture, I am putting a new slice to png when Editing from DW in
    FW.
    6) When I click on Done in DW I see this picture on the
    figure six. Beacuse FW doesn't have any effect on html's table
    structure code.

    I can reproduce your results, but I don't consider this a
    bug; just a
    limitation of Roundtrip editing.
    You can't add or change slices without re-exporting the html
    from
    Fireworks. Roundtrip is for image editing, not for altering
    the table
    structure. If I edit, and re-export, my table remains intact.
    If you want to edit the slices and resulting html, open the
    PNG file
    independently of Dreamweaver, change your slices and images
    and then
    choose File > Update HTML (this option is not available
    when in
    Roundtrip mode). FW will ask you to locate the html file.
    When located,
    you will have the options of
    Replace Images and Their HTML - replaces the previous
    Fireworks HTML.
    Update Images Only - overwrites only the images.
    As an aside, the rigid table created by FW is rarely
    desirable for a
    production web site.

  • Integration between PD and TEM

    Hi Gurus,
    I am working on Training and Events Management. If I want to create training appraisals, I am seeing appraisals defined in PD on my screen. I just wanted to know what is the integration between PD and TEM.
    Can somebody explain what the following sentence means. It is integration between TEM and TM.
    When employees of your company participate in events either as attendees or instructors, you can
    store attendance types in Time Management for checking purposes.
    Points assured!
    Thanks in advance.
    Nivedita.

    Hi,
    For integration between Time And TEM in table T77S0  switch PLOGI TIME     is used for Integration TM and TEM
    after that in the same table you have to maintain switches
    SEMIN     AINST     for Attendance type for instructor in T554S
    SEMIN     APART     for Attendance Type for Attendance in T554S
    SEMIN     TIMEP     for Minimum percentage attendance

  • What are the differences between attributes and variables?

    I am trying to develop a firmer understanding of the difference between attributes and variables. I understand attributes are lexically scoped to a class and variables are lexically scoped to the enclosing block. The lifetime of an attribute is linked to a class' instance. What is the lifetime of a variable? What is the lifetime of variables declared in a script file's top-level?

    It depend on whether the script is running in standalone mode or been called by others (library mode).
    If running as standalone, the variable of the script in the top level exists until the the script exit. If run as library mode, the variable in the top level of the script will never get to execute. Only the function and class available for call.
    Try calling another script with top level variable (place print statement to verify), you realize in library mode, it will never been called. That's why the main method as in Java is never needed because of this reason.

  • What is the diffrence between PGA and UGA?

    Hi All
    Just one question
    "What is the diffrence between PGA and UGA?"
    Thanks

    PGA Memory
    The Program Global Area (PGA) is a memory region that contains data and control information for a single process (server or background). The PGA is made up of the following:
    Stack Space
    A PGA always contains a stack space, which is memory allocated to hold a session's variables, arrays, and other information.
    Session Information - (UGA)
    A PGA in an instance running without the multi-threaded server (named Shared Server in Oracle9i) requires additional memory for the user's session, such as private SQL areas and other information. If the instance is running the multi-threaded server, this extra memory is not in the PGA, but is instead allocated in the SGA (the Shared Pool).
    Shared SQL Areas
    Shared SQL areas are always in shared memory areas of the SGA (not the PGA), with or without the multi-threaded server.
    Non-shared and Writable
    The PGA is a non-shared memory area to which a process can write. One PGA is allocated for each server process; the PGA is exclusive to a server process and is read and written only by Oracle code acting on behalf of that process.
    UGA Memory
    The UGA, or User Global Area, is allocated in the PGA for each session connected to Oracle in a dedicated server environment. The PGA is memory allocated at the client to hold a stack which contains all of the session's variables, etc. In a Shared Server environment, Oracle allocates this memory in the Shapred Pool (the shared pool is contained in the SGA), for all sessions. This helps to reduce the PGA (client) memory footprint of Oracle, but will increase the SGA (shared pool) requirements.

  • What is the difference between tkprof and explainplan

    Hi,
    what is the difference between tkprof and explainplan.

    Execution Plans and the EXPLAIN PLAN Statement
    Before the database server can execute a SQL statement, Oracle must first parse the statement and develop an execution plan. The execution plan is a task list of sorts that decomposes a potentially complex SQL operation into a series of basic data access operations. For example, a query against the dept table might have an execution plan that consists of an index lookup on the deptno index, followed by a table access by ROWID.
    The EXPLAIN PLAN statement allows you to submit a SQL statement to Oracle and have the database prepare the execution plan for the statement without actually executing it. The execution plan is made available to you in the form of rows inserted into a special table called a plan table. You may query the rows in the plan table using ordinary SELECT statements in order to see the steps of the execution plan for the statement you explained. You may keep multiple execution plans in the plan table by assigning each a unique statement_id. Or you may choose to delete the rows from the plan table after you are finished looking at the execution plan. You can also roll back an EXPLAIN PLAN statement in order to remove the execution plan from the plan table.
    The EXPLAIN PLAN statement runs very quickly, even if the statement being explained is a query that might run for hours. This is because the statement is simply parsed and its execution plan saved into the plan table. The actual statement is never executed by EXPLAIN PLAN. Along these same lines, if the statement being explained includes bind variables, the variables never need to actually be bound. The values that would be bound are not relevant since the statement is not actually executed.
    You don’t need any special system privileges in order to use the EXPLAIN PLAN statement. However, you do need to have INSERT privileges on the plan table, and you must have sufficient privileges to execute the statement you are trying to explain. The one difference is that in order to explain a statement that involves views, you must have privileges on all of the tables that make up the view. If you don’t, you’ll get an “ORA-01039: insufficient privileges on underlying objects of the view” error.
    The columns that make up the plan table are as follows:
    Name Null? Type
    STATEMENT_ID VARCHAR2(30)
    TIMESTAMP DATE
    REMARKS VARCHAR2(80)
    OPERATION VARCHAR2(30)
    OPTIONS VARCHAR2(30)
    OBJECT_NODE VARCHAR2(128)
    OBJECT_OWNER VARCHAR2(30)
    OBJECT_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
    OBJECT_INSTANCE NUMBER(38)
    OBJECT_TYPE VARCHAR2(30)
    OPTIMIZER VARCHAR2(255)
    SEARCH_COLUMNS NUMBER
    ID NUMBER(38)
    PARENT_ID NUMBER(38)
    POSITION NUMBER(38)
    COST NUMBER(38)
    CARDINALITY NUMBER(38)
    BYTES NUMBER(38)
    OTHER_TAG VARCHAR2(255)
    PARTITION_START VARCHAR2(255)
    PARTITION_STOP VARCHAR2(255)
    PARTITION_ID NUMBER(38)
    OTHER LONG
    DISTRIBUTION VARCHAR2(30)
    There are other ways to view execution plans besides issuing the EXPLAIN PLAN statement and querying the plan table. SQL*Plus can automatically display an execution plan after each statement is executed. Also, there are many GUI tools available that allow you to click on a SQL statement in the shared pool and view its execution plan. In addition, TKPROF can optionally include execution plans in its reports as well.
    Trace Files and the TKPROF Utility
    TKPROF is a utility that you invoke at the operating system level in order to analyze SQL trace files and generate reports that present the trace information in a readable form. Although the details of how you invoke TKPROF vary from one platform to the next, Oracle Corporation provides TKPROF with all releases of the database and the basic functionality is the same on all platforms.
    The term trace file may be a bit confusing. More recent releases of the database offer a product called Oracle Trace Collection Services. Also, Net8 is capable of generating trace files. SQL trace files are entirely different. SQL trace is a facility that you enable or disable for individual database sessions or for the entire instance as a whole. When SQL trace is enabled for a database session, the Oracle server process handling that session writes detailed information about all database calls and operations to a trace file. Special database events may be set in order to cause Oracle to write even more specific information—such as the values of bind variables—into the trace file.
    SQL trace files are text files that, strictly speaking, are human readable. However, they are extremely verbose, repetitive, and cryptic. For example, if an application opens a cursor and fetches 1000 rows from the cursor one row at a time, there will be over 1000 separate entries in the trace file.
    TKPROF is a program that you invoke at the operating system command prompt in order to reformat the trace file into a format that is much easier to comprehend. Each SQL statement is displayed in the report, along with counts of how many times it was parsed, executed, and fetched. CPU time, elapsed time, logical reads, physical reads, and rows processed are also reported, along with information about recursion level and misses in the library cache. TKPROF can also optionally include the execution plan for each SQL statement in the report, along with counts of how many rows were processed at each step of the execution plan.
    The SQL statements can be listed in a TKPROF report in the order of how much resource they used, if desired. Also, recursive SQL statements issued by the SYS user to manage the data dictionary can be included or excluded, and TKPROF can write SQL statements from the traced session into a spool file.
    How EXPLAIN PLAN and TKPROF Aid in the Application Tuning Process
    EXPLAIN PLAN and TKPROF are valuable tools in the tuning process. Tuning at the application level typically yields the most dramatic results, and these two tools can help with the tuning in many different ways.
    EXPLAIN PLAN and TKPROF allow you to proactively tune an application while it is in development. It is relatively easy to enable SQL trace, run an application in a test environment, run TKPROF on the trace file, and review the output to determine if application or schema changes are called for. EXPLAIN PLAN is handy for evaluating individual SQL statements.
    By reviewing execution plans, you can also validate the scalability of an application. If the database operations are dependent upon full table scans of tables that could grow quite large, then there may be scalability problems ahead. On the other hand, if large tables are accessed via selective indexes, then scalability may not be a problem.
    EXPLAIN PLAN and TKPROF may also be used in an existing production environment in order to zero in on resource intensive operations and get insights into how the code may be optimized. TKPROF can further be used to quantify the resources required by specific database operations or application functions.
    EXPLAIN PLAN is also handy for estimating resource requirements in advance. Suppose you have an ad hoc reporting request against a very large database. Running queries through EXPLAIN PLAN will let you determine in advance if the queries are feasible or if they will be resource intensive and will take unacceptably long to run.

  • What is the difference between APL and UAFL?

    Hi There,
    Can someone please tell me the difference between APL and UAFL?
    As per my understanding APL stands for Automated Predictive Analysis and these are the set of algorithms which SAP inherited with the acquisition of KXEN and APL is enabled from SP9 onwards.
    So what is the difference between APL and UAFL?
    Can someone answer this?
    Regards,
    Arjun

    Dear Arjun,
    the main differences beetween AFL and APL are coming from the A of APL: Automated.
    Both AFL and APL can be used the same way (integrated into application), but the APL are Automated algorithms that are coming from InfiniteInsight technology. They give you the opportunity to perform advanced classification, clustering, regression, etc... without deep knowledge in predictive algorithm or data enconding as well. On the contrary, using AFL requires that you choose the right algorithm for answering your question, then set the specific parameters for that particular algorithm (ie: you now the algorithm and how to play with), you have to encode by yourself all the existing variable into the numerical space and handle by yourself binning, banding, missing values and outliers. All those mandatory steps are done Automatically using the APL algorithms.
    Kind regards,
    Gaëtan.

  • What is the difference between #variable_name and :variable_name?

    Hi!
    What is the difference between #variable_name and :variable_name?
    I have found that if we use alphanumeric variable then :variable_name return value in quotes but #variable_name without quotes.
    Why it does not work in the same way for variable default values when variable is used in filter? (It works in mapping)
    I use variable in filter like T.OUT_DATE>convert(datetime,:LAST_UPDATE_DATE,121)
    When I use my variable in package and do refresh it works fine. But when I try to execute the same interface with variable default value I get error. Seems that variable name has been not changed to the value. It does not work with default value in quotes neither without quotes.
    Any ideas how to solve that?
    Thank you in advance!
    Edited by: user13278245 on Sep 15, 2010 4:34 AM

    Question is how to make it work with default value, when I execute interface standalone, not in package? And why it works in mapping but not in filter?
    + I have found that it works if source is Oracle. It doesn't work only for MS SQL source.

  • What is the difference between ActionEvent and SelectionEvent?

    Technical Environment:
    Oracle jDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0
    Windows XP
    I think there is something behind ActionEvent and SelectionEvent that makes my code doesn't work.
    Here is my problem:
    I have three tables. One is a master table, contains summary of something. If I select a row on this table, the second table will show some data, based on the selected row on the first table. Yup, this is a ViewLink, and it is working perfectly. Now, I want the same thing works between the second and third table. If I select a row in second table, the third table should show some data, based on the selected row on the second table. The third table is a ViewObject with some bind parameters. I need to assign values to these parameters, which I get the value from the selected row on the second table. How can I do this?
    I have tried to use ExecuteWithParams. Select the row from second table, get the values, pass it into ExecuteWithParams Form, execute and.. it works.. I get the result on the third table. Here is the code how I do that:
    public void updateTableEvent(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
    DCIteratorBinding iter = gen.getIteratorBinding("SearchView3Iterator");
    Row rw = iter.getCurrentRow();
    oracle.jbo.domain.Date strDate = (oracle.jbo.domain.Date) rw.getAttribute("Tgl");
    String strRkno = (String) rw.getAttribute("Rkno");
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number strRkId = (oracle.jbo.domain.Number) rw.getAttribute("Rkid");
    DCIteratorBinding iterParam = gen.getIteratorBinding("variables");
    iterParam.getBindingContainer().getVariableManager().setVariableValue("ExecuteWithParams_pRkId", strRkId);
    iterParam.getBindingContainer().getVariableManager().setVariableValue("ExecuteWithParams_pTgl", strDate);
    iterParam.getBindingContainer().getVariableManager().setVariableValue("ExecuteWithParams_pRkNo", strRkno);
    OperationBinding operationBinding = gen.getOperationBinding("ExecuteWithParams");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    But when I tried the same thing on SelectionEvent, I got nothing.. no error and also no result. What I want is just select the row on the second table, and get the result on the third table, with no any button pressing. Here is the code:
    public void onRowSelect(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
    DCIteratorBinding iter = gen.getIteratorBinding("SearchView3Iterator");
    Row rw = iter.getCurrentRow();
    oracle.jbo.domain.Date strDate = (oracle.jbo.domain.Date) rw.getAttribute("Tgl");
    String strRkno = (String) rw.getAttribute("Rkno");
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number strRkId = (oracle.jbo.domain.Number) rw.getAttribute("Rkid");
    DCIteratorBinding iterParam = gen.getIteratorBinding("variables");
    iterParam.getBindingContainer().getVariableManager().setVariableValue("ExecuteWithParams_pRkId", strRkId);
    iterParam.getBindingContainer().getVariableManager().setVariableValue("ExecuteWithParams_pTgl", strDate);
    iterParam.getBindingContainer().getVariableManager().setVariableValue("ExecuteWithParams_pRkNo", strRkno);
    OperationBinding operationBinding = gen.getOperationBinding("ExecuteWithParams");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    So.. what is actually happening here? What is the differece between ActionEvent and SelectionEvent? Why do they give me difference response?
    Thanks for any comments.

    Hi,
    ActionEvent :
    A semantic event which indicates that a component-defined action occured. This high-level event is generated by a component (such as a commandbutton,commandLink) when the component-specific action occurs (such as being pressed).
    SelectionEvent :
    Event that is generated when the selection of a component changes.
