Set "Scale To Fit Media" as default in Photoshop CS6 print settings on OSX

Quite frequently my boss will email 10 to 30 images to me to print from his camera. Is there a way to setup Photoshop CS6 print settings so that "Scale To Fit Media" is the default. I tried to create an action and then through Bridge select a folder and Batch send the files to Open-Print-Close. Since images are never received 8.5"x11" it would be convenient to have this as a default. Since the print settings revert, or aren't defaulting to "settings last used", my batch attempt was unsuccessful. I know I could edit my action to adjust image size to page dimensions, but thought a way to edit the Print settings default must be out there somewhere. (Using MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4) Any Suggestions?

Unfortunately "Scale to Fit Media" isn't a toggle. But let's try a workaround.
You can create an Image Size action where you will scale the picture to either 8.5 inches wide or 11 inches high, whichever works best for you. First be sure "resampling" is turned off under Image > Image Size.
You would open an iimage, then create an new action, title it "Letter 11 inches" and that's when the recording starts.
Enter 11 inches as the Height, click OK and then stop recording.
This is a quick and dirty action and assumes all pictures are portrait and not landscape. It may just work for you.
You should be able to include it in your batch processing.

  • How do I change the "Open In" default from "Photoshop CS6" to "Photoshop CC 2014" in Bridge CC? I'm using a Mac

    I have Photoshop CC 2014 and Bridge CC when I double click or Open in Bridge CC Photoshop CS6 opens instead of Photoshop CC 2014. How can I change this dynamic link to open Photoshop CC 2014? Help!

    Thanks Gener7, but that did not work.
    I also tried opening Bridge’s Preferences> File Type Associations and clicking the Reset to Default Applications button.  Then see Photoshop CC 2014 listed next to all basic image formats.  but did not work
    Also tried this: but did not work
    --Open Bridge.
    --Use the Keywords panel menu command Export to save your keywords (not in the Bridge or Photoshop folders or their support folders).
    --Quit Bridge.
    --Hold down the Command-Option-Shift keys.
    --Launch Bridge.
    --When the small dialog box appears, release the three modifier keys and elect to replace the Preferences and purge the cache.

  • Cannot print PSD without "scale to fit media" selected

    I am trying to print PSD sized slightly bigger than 8.5 x 11 on my Samsung laser jet printer. I have no problem printing documents sized under 8.5 x 11, but not anything larger. Photoshop does not prompt me that clipping may occur. The file doesn't get sent to my printer queue. I'm confused as to why this is.
    Any help?
    Christopher
    P.S. I'm using Photoshop CC on Windows 8.1, everything is up to date, printer works fine everywhere else.

    I'm not sure what is causing this, but if you checkmark "print selected area" will it printout the clipped portion of your image?

  • When using Adobe Photoshop CS5, print settings default within the same session.

    Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  As mentioned after adjusting some settings and printing, the settings reset the next time we go to print the same file within the same session. (never closing the file)

    Hi Chris,
    I will definitely give that a try. I had a tech set up my computer after i purchased it less than a week ago but it is a possibility that he missed it. I will try and run an update this weekend and see if that increases the speed when OpenGL is enabled. I will get back to you on the issue in the next few days.
    Thanks for your insight and helpful suggestion.
    Much appreciated.

  • How do I reset defaults in Photoshop CS6?

    I opened an image I scanned in color and when I loaded it into my Photoshop document, it is GRAYSCALE and I CANNOT get it to load as RGB at all. I had tried to set up a previous document for CMYK to see if I could do a screen print set up, and now I can't get my images to load into my document in color.

    Please post screen shots of your issue so we can see what is happening.

  • Indesign CS6 printer settings reverting to default

    Hi
    We have a problem which has started recently for some students when printing from Indesign CS6. Most of them have print presets which they created months ago for printing to the default printer using secure print, A3, heavyweight paper, bypass tray etc. They were working fine, but now, when they print a document using that preset it just prints on standard paper and normal (not secure) print.
    I checked their print presets and in the setup for the printer within the print preset the settings have changed to the default settings. If I delete the preset and create another one any changes I make in the setup / preferences for that printer revert back as soon as I click 'Ok'. A work around I have found is that  when I click 'setup' if I click on any other printer, then click back to the correct (default) printer, then click preferences and make the changes they stick and do not change back to the default settings.
    This issue happens without using print presets as well, If you choose file / print and then setup, and you do not click on any other printer and then back again to the correct printer before clicking 'preferences' any changes you make will revert to default as soon as you click 'Ok'
    It only seems to be affecting Indesign.
    The printer is a Xerox Docucenter C6680, using the PCL 6 driver on a print server. We are also running Papercut.
    Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? I have tried trashing the Indesign prefs but this does not seem to help
    Cheers
    Murray

    THere appears to be a Postscript diver for this printer. Have you tried that?

  • Set file type associations in Adobe Bridge for Photoshop CS6

    Is there a way I can edit the registry so that in Adobe Bridge, under edit, preferences, file type associations, the jpg extension is forced to use the 32-bit version of Photoshop?  I can do it manually, but is there a registry key i can export to apply it to multiple computers?

    Yes, in theory, but it is generally not recommended. But that location would depend on what OS you are on. This video give the locations for the Photoshop files, Bridge would just be in a neighboring folder: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/

  • How to scale to fit Photoshop CS6

    I work with a lot of texture layers, often the wrong size and dimensions. I do transform and manually resize. But is there a scale to fit command?In the Photoshop Paper Texture extension, you can see it does that automatically. If there isn't such a command, can anyone point me to an action I can use.
    Thank you.
    Max

    No guessing needed of course there is. Layers are as easy to resize as documents is.  That is what "Transform" does in a script though its method name in script is resize. The resize values used are relative to current size percentage the anchor point defaults to the center but can be changed and the interpolation use is you interpolation preference which can be changed.
    Javascript syntax
    resize ([horizontal] [, vertical][, anchor]); // number number AnchorPosition
    Resizes the layer to the specified dimensions (as a percentage of its current size) and places it in the specified position.
    Here is a sample of how one might use it. You need to be careful if you have CS6 Adobe failed to update Photoshop scripting to support BicubicAutomatic and if you leave Adobe default interpolation preference set script will encounter a Photoshop internal error when you try to save that setting.
    // Save interpolation settings the script will fail if CS6 and setting is bicubic automatic
    var userResampleMethod = app.preferences.interpolation;
    app.preferences.interpolation = ResampleMethod.BICUBIC; // resample interpolation bicubic
    if (LWidth/LHeight<SWidth/SHeight) { // Smart Object layer Aspect Ratio less the Canvas area Aspect Ratio
       var percentageChange = ((SWidth/LWidth)*100); // Resize to canvas area width
       activeDocument.activeLayer.resize(percentageChange,percentageChange,AnchorPosition.MIDDLECENTER);
    else {
       var percentageChange = ((SHeight/LHeight)*100); // resize to canvas area height
       activeDocument.activeLayer.resize(percentageChange,percentageChange,AnchorPosition.MIDDLECENTER);
    app.preferences.interpolation = userResampleMethod; // Reset interpolation setting

  • Scale in printing settings

    In printing settings ifI deselect "Fit to page" and imput 100% it will reset every time I change the printer (as I use more than one), how to set it 100% ALWAYS?

    I called Epson first and they confirmed I have the latest driver (9.02 - which is loaded and updated by the Apple operating system). Epson said to call Adobe next. Also, and I should have mentioned this, this issue does not appear when using Lightroom. That's how I finally made the print --- landscape prints full width of page and 'Scale to Fit Media' switches back and forth when checking and unchecking in Lightroom. Strange......

  • SCCM Remote Control - Set default to not "scale to fit"

    We are using SCCM Remote Control Viewer (CmRcViewer.exe).
    By default the view is set to "scale to fit" (with a tick) for every computer you connect to. If you change it to unticked it then reverts back for the next computer you connect to. Is there a way to set the default not to be scale to fit (unticked)?
    I have looked through the registry but can't see anything obvious.
    Thanks!

    Sounds like a good DCR though which you can file on Connect (connect.microsoft.com) -- anything you file there goes directly into the product team's bug database. That doesn't mean it will get fixed, just that someone will review it and the more justification
    you can add, the more likely it will be considered to be addressed in the future.

  • How to default Preview/Finder to print "Scale to Fit Print Entire image/Fill Entire Paper"?

    Hello all,
    I have to print PDFs. Preview or printing directly from Finder prints scaling 100% and many many times the edges of the PDFs are left outside of the printing area. I have the correct paper size selected (A4) and actually the PDFs are also A4 but for some reason 100% zooms in a bit and cuts the sides of the print outside.
    I can of course fix this by selecting Scale to Fit and Print Entire Image but I do have to do this every single time I open a PDF. I want to make this option my default! And preferrably so that I can use CMD+P from Finder to print directly without having to open the PDF. I already know what is in it...
    I have tried different Terminal tricks I have found searching the web but no luck, this and others with Preview closed before executing the command
    defaults delete com.apple.Preview PVImagePrintingScaleMode
    Please help and make my life easier. Cannot be this hard.

    I got a work around for this. Instead of using RTF template, I used Microsoft Excel itself as template and did the formatting in excel.
    thanks,
    Vijay

  • How to change Scale to Scale to fit as default in Preview?

    I would like to have Preview set to 'scale to fit' (which it always used to be up through 10.7) rather than 'scale' as it is in Mavericks. This must be possible using terminal but I have no idea how to find the appropriate command line for such an operation.
    Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance

    If you have to increase the size of multiple clips, and each has a different attribute setting as it is..the only way to do this is manually...clip by clip.  There is no easy button.
    No one said editing was easy.  If they did...they lied.
