Setting a new default UI object as early as possible

Hi everyone!
I've made a custom progress bar UI class that extends BasicProgressBarUI. I know I can change the UI of a progress bar simply by invoking progressBar.setUI(). However, I'm thinking this is a waste of processing time as the environment has already initialized the default UI object.
My question is therefore: how can I as early as possible in an application set some property that makes all progress bars use as a default my own progress bar UI? If I have to create some more classes to do this, this is of course fine.

I'm not surprised either of you is having problems creating a new output module and making it the default. That's not where you do it.
Go to Edit>Templates>Output Module. Make a new one. Select one to use as a default. Select a different one if you want a different default. You can have a default for both stills and movies. You can do the same thing for Render Settings. It's the same basic drill.
Since this is basic AE 101-type stuff, I bet you'd get a lot out of these how-to's from the pros:

Why does TextEdit revert to Helvetica 12 even after you set a new default font whenever you drop an image into an RTFD?

Anyone know a workaround for when TextEdit reverts to Helvetica 12 even after you set the new default to say Verdana 14 every time your drop an image into an RTFD? Kind of defeats the purpose! Is there a way around this? THANKS!

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

Setting a New Default "Output To" Template in the Render Que Does Not Work

I'm trying to change the default "Output To" template in the Render Que to not show the timecode for a PSD file, but when I change the default template by clicking on "Custom" from the dropdown menu and using the checkbox to set a preset as the default in the "File Name and Location Template", nothing changes. The next PSD item I add to the render que still uses the previous template (i.e. it adds the Frame) and doesn't honor the new default I just set.
Just submitted a bug report, as well.

How do I set a new default text tone on my ipod4g?

I have an ipod touch 4g, and I use the messages app alot. I wanted a new ringtone so I went on Itunes and bought Rues whistle ringtone from the hunger games movie. I went on contacts and set the new ring tone on all of the contacts, making sure to click save, but for some reason it only uses the Tritone. I want to know how to change this. Please reply.

Go to Settings>Sounds>Text Tone and see if you can change it there also.

Set a new default font?

I was wondering if there was a way to change the default font from Helvetica to Times New Roman. Meaning, that I want it so that I can open up Pages and type away in Times New Roman without changing the font.

Change the styles in a template and set Pages to use that template by default.

How do I set a new default font in CS6 for ALL documents

I've seen in many discussions on here how to change the default font for new documents, but no one has addressed the idea of how to make it so that you have a preferred default font that overrides Myriad for any document you open. Is that even possible? I receive files from many different sources and most people just stick with Myriad. I need to change that font constantly in documents to Helvetica Bold and want the type tool to just stay there unless I manually change it myself. Any ideas?

You may try with Helvetica-Bold (instead of just Helvetica for Helvetica Regular); as you can see there may be a bit of trial and error to find the exact name.
If you do, I should be thankful if you will report back so I can add the right name in that hint.

To change the application that opens a document:
Select the document and choose File > Get Info.
Click the triangle next to “Open with” to expand the section.
Choose an application from the pop-up menu, or choose Other to locate a different application.
If you want to use that application to open all documents of the same type as the current document and created by the same application, click Change All.
There is no "open with" section in "Get Info"
I have seen an open with dialog when clicking a file but it's not now happening. One app (Wave pad--- trial)was selected, trash that app and another (Audacity) is now default. I was never asked. I can change one at a time in Get Info (Select New Original) but can't find a Change All option.
Any ideas?

If you do a Get Info (Control click and choose get info), you do not get a window like this with the choices I've circled?

Just wondering if it is possible to set a specific ringtone to all alarms in the alarm clock without changing each alarm individually? My husband needs a MUCH louder alarm tone than the default.

When you say "Is it possible to set a minimum sale amount for eCommerce - $20 for example?", are you saying the customer should not be able to check out if he has less than $20 in the shopping?
If so, then it is not possible. I've not seen such kind of custom set up in BC yet. However, I'll leave this post open. If any of our partners have done it before, they might be able to help you.

After uninstalling nightly, I can no longer set firefox as default browser for email links and they no longer open.

When I try to change the default firefox protocols in windows, only the nightly shows and I can not unclick it. When I attempt to click on a link in an email (Windows Live) I get "Class not registered"
I presently have IE set as my default because it is the only possible way to open email links.

You can install both win32 and win64 Firefox Nightly builds on a 64-bit Windows computer. As you should know, all Firefox nightly builds are intended for testing only. If you downloaded your Firefox nightly build from http://nightly.mozilla.org/ then you got the win32 installer. (win64 installers are available from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/ and possibly elsewhere: [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=12694481#p12694481 ref.])
Anyway, the bug report I referred to earlier ([https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=870312 Bug 870312] - Installing Nightly causes "Class not registered" error on click on link in other apps after uninstall) fits your issue ("broken" uninstaller). It was triaged as a "Shell Integration" Firefox bug for x86_64 Windows 8.
Whether you had the 32-bit or 64-bit Firefox nightly installed, you can try reinstalling a more recent build of that, and then uninstall it again. That worked for a Windows user who had problems uninstalling Firefox Nightly x64 as reported in this thread:

If that doesn't work, also try reinstalling Firefox 25, to see if that helps matters.

Setting new default printer from tcode VF

im here again..:-) hope u dont mind..
i have a problem in setting the default printer in tcode VF02...actually the scenario is we bought a new printer..and the program in billing documents always default it to the old printer...so i tried to change the printer from old to new.
and tried to change the default printer thru the following :
1.change the new default printer from settings->printer
2.change the output in VF02 tcode from GOTO->header->output->communication method
3.change it from billing document->issued to output ->print options.
but all of these is i need to change it per document no...
now...how will i default it only once..and all documents i my print will default the printer to the new printer..
do you have any idea to change the default printer to SPRO? because i check the output type is rd07...and i have no idea where to change it...

In the Composing pane of Mail's preferences window, look for the pop-up menu labeled "Send new messages from." Select the desired account there.
Note, though, that this won't change the behavior when replying to a message... in that case, the reply will be sent from the account that received the message, unless you specify differently at that time.

Can Firefox be set to a default zoom that doesn't change back to small each time a new website is accessed? Downloaded add-on did not solve

I have a new iMac with a large 27" monitor. I'd like to set a 225% default zoom on Firefox-- currently, each newly accessed website must be manually enlarged because the 225% size won't remain the default size for all websites; this is very frustrating. NoSquint add-on did not solve this problem for me. Am I doing something wrong?
I'd greatly appreciate any help you could provide because I've had to switch to Safari for web browsing and I much prefer Firefox.

Shortly, you can configure Firefox to display all text at a minimum font size. If a web page contains text that is smaller than your defined minimum size, Firefox increases the font size of the text to this minimum. To set a minimum text size:
* On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...
* Select the Content panel.
* In the Fonts & Colors pane, click Advanced....
* In the Minimum Font Size drop-down, select the minimum size in pixels in which all text must be displayed.
 
Regarding NoSquint addon, you should be able to override the default zoom options and keep your settings between Firefox restarts.

Setting a new realm as default realm

Hi all,
I need to integrate weblogic server 9.2 with OAM using SSPI connector.
I configured web logic policies in OAM and configured weglogic server.
But I couldnt get the NetPointRealm as a realm in weblogic admin console.
So configured a realm named NetPointRealm manually and provided required security providers.
So to activate this realm,we need to set this realm as default realm.
But I'm not able to set that as default realm.
Could anyone please provide any suggestions to set the new realm as default realm.

As a work around , you can create a VM without installing OS and configure the Vlan of VNic , then export it .
The new VM will be with Vlan ID when you import the "export file".(note : you need to select "copy the virtual machine " in the tab "choose import type" during importing ) .
