• Unable to set up gmail account

I have opened an email account with gmail on the Google website. I have tried to set this gmail account to open in my Mac mail, but it will not receive emails and is telling me that port 110 has timed out. Is anyone able to help? Thanks

Hi, so you set it up as POP instead of IMAP?
If POP, is the 2nd method here how you did it?

Also...
Gmail send but not receive...
Here are two steps that have come in handy in related situations
1) login to gmail on your computer or device via a web browser
2) once logged in successfully, go to this URL to unlock:

• Can't set up gmail account in 10.7.5 Apple Mail

Mail on my daughter's MB deals with her Yahoo account splendidly. But when I tried to add her gmail account, it balked. I accessed gmail via the web and turned on IMAP and save changes, then I added the account. The response was that Mail couldn't access gmail because either the username or password was wrong. So I tried the same whole routine, except this time setting it up as a POP account. Same lack of joy. I shut down and restarted. I repaired permissions. I even found a seemingly smart person on another thread who asked the other person with a similar problem to do a Lookup in Network Utility. So I did, and what I got from that effort (below) looks to me like the computer can find gmail without any difficulty.
So I'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Lookup has started…

Is your daughter using 2-step Verification on her gmail account? If yes, then you need to create app-specific password to be able to use mail application. More info and how to on Google documentation page.

• Set up gmail account in Apple mail and it only defaults to Pop. How can I get it to allow me IMAP?

I have multiple gmail accounts. Just set up a new one and configured it exactly as I have the others in gmail (enabling IMAP). But when I set it up in Apple Mail, it automatically sets it up as a Pop account. I cannot find a way to set it up manually...there is no check box that I can find to do this in the set up window. I have repeated the steps several times and it always defaults to Pop. So...how can I set it up as an IMAP account?

Got it...have to hold 'Option' button down after putting in name and password and it changes to 'Continue'.

• Can't set up gmail account of Pre2

I have four accounts. Three Google Apps account and one Gmail account
I have set up the three google apps accounts OK. and they seem to work :-)
However, when I try to add the @gmail.com account it simply just hangs when I click on the "Create" button. If I close the card, then the account remains only partly created. i.e. it appears to be there, but I dont get any emails and I cannot view any of the folders if I click on the down-arrow to view them.
How can I add this account?

Hello RedMist, this forum is of the "peer-to-peer" design - users helping users. There are a few HPalm CSR's who come here on their own time to help out. With over 250,000 registered users here, you would think more would stay and help answer questions, but in reality there are pitifully few real helpers here...
Most users just "hit and run" and don't bother to "pay it forward" by offering to help others.
No response to a question usually indicates "we don't know the answer" or "we haven't gotten around to viewing it".
Unfortunately, I have no idea why it's not working.

• I can not set up Gmail account in Thunderbird

Hi all!
I just installed Thunderbird but I could not set up my Gmail account within it. Every time I try to configure my Gmail account, it always says "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?" but my username and password are both correct. I have tried to set up other Gmail accounts and it says the same. I wonder is there any conflict between Gmail and Thunderbird. Anyone can help me to solve this problem? Thanks in advanced :)

• Cannot set up gmail account - keep getting SSL error

I cannot seem to set up my gmail account on my iPhone. Actually I deleted the account because it would not update at home and when trying to re-add the account now I cannot. I keep getting the SSL error which asks if I want to continue without SSL, if I push yes it does not work either, just says gmail verification has failed either way. I have read up on others responses and none have worked.
I have tried following the link to unlock my gmail, setting up my gmail account through the "other" option instead of gmail, turning off my firewall (I have a locked wireless connection at home) and even changing my gmail password. Nothing has worked.... PLEASE help!

Okay so I was able to set up my gmail account at work, BUT I do not get automatic notifications anymore when I have a new email like I did before.... Any ideas why and how to fix this?

• Setting up GMAIL Account only for calendar access

I wanted to ask the Board Members if they had any experience with this, before I mess up my Z10.
I need to access a Google Calendar, and add its contents to my calendar on the Z10 constantly updated. Otherwise I use the Link software with USB with Outlook 10 and use the BBLink Calendar account on my device. Right now I don't link Gmail with my Z10 and I don't intend to.
As I tried to set it up, it seems that Google wants to access my device, set up an email account, sync my contacts. I stopped the setup and did not move forward.
I have the leaked OS 10.2.0.1371, which is awesome, BTW and and I have the add Subscribed Calendar option in the add new account settings, but I was unable to do so after I tried www.google.com as the server address or the link google provides in the calendar setting option..
Is there any way to add a GMAIL account with syncing the mail, contacts, just getting a 1-way sync of a calendar?
Alex
Solved!
Go to Solution.

During the setup process, you may be (depends on your OS level) presented with several different screens, some will appear to come from GMail, and others from BlackBerry. One of those may make statements about wanting to authorize the set up calendar, contacts, and emails...but that particular screen will not provide any options but to accept or cancel. This screen is actually just informative...saying that you must accept if you wish to be able to use ANY of those, but that screen does not actually configure any of them. When you accept this first screen, it will proceed to other screens, one of which is where you will actually choose which of the functions you wish to integrate (calendar, contacts, and/or email)...simply slide to OFF those you do not wish to enable.

• Setting up Gmail account

Hi All,
I am a new user of ipod touch, and i get two of them.
when i tried to connect my i pod touches to the gmail account, one of them said "SSL connection fail" and cannot sync with the gmail account, while the other one works well.
I tried to restore the "failed" ipod's setting to the "succeed" one, but the error still pop up.
can anyone help on this?
thanks in Advance!!

It's going to be pretty hard for anyone to say whether or not theynhave the same problem when you don't reallynsay what the problem is. Simpky saying you can't set it up doesn't give us muchnto go on. What, exactly is the problem? What error messages, if any are you seeing?
I don't know what you mean when you refer to "setting up a/c". Jere are the directions, from Google, on how to set up your Gmail in an iOS device. See if following them helps.

• Setting up gmail account on iPhone.

Hi, I have a new iphone and I'm trying to set up my gmail existing account. I'm using the same gmail password that I'm using to access my gmail account on my Mac Book laptop, but my phone keeps rejecting the password. I don't have any other passwords so I'm not sure of what to do or whom to ask for advice. I'm hoping there is someone clever and helpful out there in Apple Land who can point me in the right direction. Many thanks, your answers are very much appreciated. Martina.

Copied from Google Support:
Invalid Password Prompt. If you see an error message that reads "Invalid Password", it's likely that you'll need to unlock your account by solving a short CAPTCHA. Go to https://www.google.com/accounts/UnlockCaptcha and, if asked to, fill in your email address, password, and the letters in the CAPTCHA box.

• Trouble setting up Gmail account on iPhone 4s

I am having trouble setting up my Gmail account. My password and username are correct & the troubleshooting articles I have read about his haven't aided the process. Any suggestions?

This isn't a Apple iOS issue, it's something Google is doing.
I've tried 4x on my phones Mail app and I get the same error message. All was fine for months then today this error message. What's odd is if you go to Google's site to log in all is fine. Now a week ago I had a Android phone, I was always a iPhone person but since we left AT&T I tried something different. I hated that phone, my entire experience was just bad. Too be honest that was my 2nd time and last trying an Android phone. Now I don't know about anyone else but if you've jumped from Android and now having these problems, then there is something deeper then POP3 or Account Forwarding going on.

• How do I set up gmail account to sync with iCloud?

When I try to do so it says it can't verify the account password or name. I have been using the gmail name and password and it works fine on both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. Ideas?

Is you gmail name used as an (old) Apple ID which is then associated with and icloud account?
Generally, Apple's icloud does not manage other email service providers' email. You could forward your gmail (using google mail's settings) to an icloud email account (or is this what you are trying to do?). But you can't have icloud manage gmail.
Or are you refering to the use of an email client on your mac that has icloud and gmail accounts defined?
