Shade of current day in iCal

i used the technique described in this post
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3470962&#3470962
to fix the problem of the alarm message coming up offscreen. worked great for me and many others (many thanks). now that i have downloaded this useful (and MASSIVE) app to do the fix, can i also change the shade of the current day? on my laptop, the difference BARELY shows, and i'd like it more distinct. is that a similar fix?
thanks to you gods of tech.

jh2336,
I suppose a programming solution is possible. That is after all, ultimately how Apple will solve the problem if they are convinced to do so by user Feedback.
If you are wondering what to do with a tool, any tool, it would be advisable to learn how to use it before wielding it on anything that comes along.
The Developer Forum is under the Mac OS X Technologies category. You may find out where to learn about using the Xcode 2.4.1 tool in that Forum.
Forum: Software Development 101 would be another good choice.
Good Luck.

  • I want to shade a whole day in iCal month (app?)

    I've searched and found lots of folks looking to change text and its background, but I want to shade a whole day.  In the month view, I want important days (oh god, jury duty!!) to really stand out.
    Anyone know an add-on, or an app, or any way to do this? I think I've looked at a dozen options, but would love to hear from someone who has actually done this.
    In pre-history, on the Pocket PC I bought Agenda Fusion for this kind of thing...  Thx for all answers.

  • ICal still shows previous day in ical proper, but shows current date in the dock

    iCal is open in the MONTH, on my desktop permanently, but it continually shows yesterdays date.  It isn't till I actually click on the following day in iCal proper that the date changes to the current date. The iCal icon on the dock works fine with no issues.  When I first purchased the iMac iCal worked aok.  Software is continually updated.

    I have the same issue. I am also running iCal 5.0.2 under Lion 10.7.3. It worked fine for me on Lion 10.7.2, and it still works ok for me on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1. It does look like a bug to me. I have the issue connecting to a Google Calendar as well as to another (non-Apple) CalDAV server.
    Let me know if you call Apple Support to report this issue.

  • Default iCal Display to Current Day/Month?

    Whenever I open iCal on Yosemite 10.10.1, it by default displays the last month/day I was viewing when previously exiting the app. Is there any way to have iCal display the current day/month by default at launch?

    In case anyone else is looking for a solution to this, I'm come up with a temporary hack. It is a shell script that clears out the most recent calendar view, which results in the Calendar app opening to the current day/month. I've setup a crontab job to run the script every 10 minutes. It's not a perfect fix, but it does the job just fine.
    The script/terminal command:
    /usr/bin/defaults delete com.apple.iCal "CalFirstVisibleDate"
    To install a crontab job which runs the script periodically (every ten minutes in this case), insert the following line into your crontab config (run crontab -e from terminal):
    */10 * * * * /usr/bin/iCalDateReset.sh
    This assumes that you have installed the script as /usr/bin/iCalDateReset.sh

  • Current  day in month view

    In month view, I used to be able to see the current day in a slightly colored box. now all days are all in white. off to the left there is a blue box around the current day but I would like the big view to have the color. It makes it difficult for your eye to be drawn right to the current day.

    In my iCal, the current day is just ever so slightly shaded a light shade of blue. This "concern" has been expressed many times, so I think expressing your thoughts to Apple is the best you can do for now: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html

  • Highlighting current day in month view.....

    Is there an option to highlight the current day? Maybe shade it a different color? If I look at the mini calendar in the left pane the current day is highlighted blue but on the calendar itself the box for the day is white like every other day.
    Thanks in advance!

    svjesser,
    This often sought after feature is not available in the iCal interface.

  • Highlighting current day in month view of calendar

    Apple shows the day highlighted in all their promo images. I searched this forum and the latest entries are 2006 and 2007. Since Apple is showing this, it should be possible. But how?
    For instance, one plans a trip of two weeks. I'd like the weeks of the trip to have the squares shaded in so that the two weeks stand out. And then I can put events in the square also ...
    Thanks for your help.

    Diane,
    Unfortunately, what you are requesting is not a feature in any version of iCal. I suggest that you provide Apple - iCal - Feedback.
    The visibility of the  current day highlight color is subject to the whims of the hardware and user settings. You may want to try adjusting the color of your display by using System Preferences...>Displays>Color>Calibrate..., and also System Preferences...>Universal Access>Seeing>"Enhance contrast:"

  • Current day not highlighted in month view!

    after updating to: OS X 10.4.9, the current day is not highlighted in the calendar view in ical. the current day is highlighted in the day and week views, just not the month. I cant find any way of turning it on. Has anyone else had this problem after uptating the system OS to 10.4.9? any help would be appreciated. it is quite annoying.

    I've found a solution to this problem that has been bugging me for months. As others have reported, the "today" highlight in iCal had disappeared. I also noticed a similar problem when using Gmail. Gmail highlights read mail with a blue background on the mail item in the main list. This also disappeared. Strangely, I would see both of these highlights reappear for a moment when I did fast user-switching to a different account. Just before the Mac would switch to another account, the screen would darken and those highlights would appear. This seemed to indicate that the problem wasn't with the applications but rather with the system.
    Here's how I fixed this: I went to the Display system preferences. I selected the Color tab. THe display profile was Cinema Display. I selected another profile (in my case I chose Adobe RGB (1998)). Immediately, the missing highlights reappeared. I then reselected Cinema Display and the highlights remained (although slightly lighter).
    Somehow, the display profile got changed enough to wash out those light blue highlights, but switching profiles brought them back.
    This worked for me on my Apple Cinema LCD display. I don't know if this will work on another brand LCD display or on a CRT. But at least I've found a way to bring these highlights back. I'll be curious if this solves anyone else's problem.

  • I cal freezes on start up on current day.

    Hi all, can anyone suggest and idiots guide and solution to my i-cal freezing on current day on start up? many thanks (if not is their a good calendar from someone else i can download that will work with my macbook?) cheers all.

    deano198,
    Try refreshing the iCal plist file, and the "Calendar Cache" file. You will find the "com.apple.iCal.plist" file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, and drag the .plist file to your Desktop.
    Also find the "Calendar Cache" file in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder. Drag the Calendar Cache file, or any other "Cache" files which may be in the Calendars Folder to the Desktop. Then log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.

  • Function module to get holiday class from work schedule for current day

    I need to determine what the public holiday class value is for the current day in a user exit.  Is there an SAP function module that can return me this data?  This would be the information that is displayed when pressing the work schedule button from infotype 0007

    Function module HOLIDAY_CHECK_AND_GET_INFO is closer to what I need.  This function module returns an X if the day is a holiday.  I will create a Z program and instead of returning an X for a holiday I will return the THOL-KLASS (holiday class) value.

  • Messed up again! Help to display current day and date ...

    Sorry guys and gals, I messed up again due to my noobidity, but you know the two most abundant things in the universe, are hydrogen ..... and noobidity!.
    I have this page http://www.poffertjes.ch/index.html that nicely states the current day and date and it also works on all subsequent pages.
    I needed a new page and figured I could just copy the code to the same position on this page: http://ppbm5.com/submission.html but behold, it just is not displayed at all.
    I have been going over the code many times, but I can't figure out why the current date is not displayed at all. Can someone please show me what I did wrong?

  • Auto Refresh OBI Page for Current Day Only

    Hello Guru's
    I have a obiee page which needs to get refreshed every 30 seconds . I could able to do that using <META HTTP-EQUIV = "REFRESH" CONTENT = "30"> . But the triggy part is , auto refresh needs to be applied only for current day and not for any date range selected by user .
    Details :
    Prompts are defaulted to current date and time on the page, but user can also select date ranges as well . So the setting for auto refresh needs to apply only on current date (default prompt values) and not if the the user select data range .
    let me know if any of you guys have come across such .

    Check the below link and tweak it if needed.

  • Web-Analysis Get Current Day and Display

    Hello,
    I have a web-analysis report that should show the current business day.
    I thought this can be done by using a substitution variable. Are there any better ways?
    Thanks,
    metalray

    Hello -
    Yes, you will have to update the Substi Var everyday with the current day. You can do it manualy through EAS or you can try to automate the same. One way is to use maxl script an example below -
    login 'Hypadmin' '#########' on myessbaseserver;
    spool on to 'mymaxl.log';
    /* Setting the substitution variable */
    alter database appname.databasename set variable 'CurMonth' 'Aug';
    display variable all;
    spool off;
    Logout;
    Exit;
    You can call this maxl from a batch file scheduled from windows scheduled task to run every day at say for example at 1am in the morning.

  • Difference Between Current Day and fist day of the payroll period

    Hi,
    How do i find the difference between the current day and the first day of the payroll period with period parameter XX.
    Operation VARSTFDYXX is used to decide if the current day is the first day of the payroll period. But is there any operation available to check the difference in exact number of days.
    I know hrs=y is used to find difference between current day and a date specification record from IT0041, but i need to check difference between current day and first day from a payroll period parameter.
    Any response is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Imaneul Rajiv

    No! haven't seen it at all! Do I have to drain the battery completely and then charge it? I did that the first day I bought the phone and yet the stats are the same for me
    PS: I am referring to the Call Time stats and not the Usage/Standby stats
