Shape modes Expand button not functioning

Just installed CS4.
When I merge object using the shape modes line in the Pathfinder palette the objects are not dynamically merged but rather merged as when I use the 'Merge' command from the 'pathfinders' line.
This means the button 'expand' is not functioning either since the objects are already expanded automatically.
Does anyone have the same problem and is this a bug or am I missing something?

And I was not arguing with your preference. (I don't share it, but you're enttitled to it.) You said Add To Shape and Merge do the same thing:

They don't, and so the presence of both of them is not silly.
You seem to think that the Shape Mode buttons are supposed to be just "live" versions of the Pathfinder buttons. They aren't. The Shape Modes are four basic set operations (union, subtract, intersection, difference), and can be applied as live or not. The Pathfinders are
additional operations (each with its own set of sometimes bizarre behavioral caveats), and cannot be applied as live effects.
But their being able to be applied as live effects, and whether live or expanded is default is immaterial as to whether one is superfluous or not.
Merge Pathfinder is NOT the same thing as Add To Shape Area expanded. The two only happen to result in the same thing under the special circumstance of same-filled unstroked paths. Merge (its inability to handle strokes notwithstanding) is an important path operation for things very different from the purpose of Add To Shape Area.

Tray Expand button not working

Dear Expert,
After the SPS upgrade of SP 21 for java stack, I am facing a issue of Expand button of the tray is not working for the iviews which contain dynamic information such as BI reports etc., Please help me out in this issue

Hi Noel,
The expand button / the tray UI element can be a Webdyn Pro Java Component.
This does not have to be a iview tray.
Are you using the BI iView in a separate Portal or are you using Portal Federation ?
If you have 2 portals, what is the second portal version ?

Preview Mode - Full is not functioning

View -> Preview Mode - > Full is supposed to let you
see the rest of the stage in full color when editing inside a movie
clip. That seems to not function. Instead the rest of the stage is
still ghosted out after you double-click a movie clip to edit it.
Grrr.

Expand button not viewing in full screen

When i click on the expand button the box appears below, instead of on full screen, it use to but not sure what has happend today

Approve Button not functioning in Approval Page NotifDetailsPG.xml

In NotifDetailsPG, we have the page for approving Batch Approval Requests...
There are four buttons, Approve, Reject, Reassign and Request Information.
When we click on the Approve, or reject button, nothing happens, but on the Reassign and Request Information, we are directed to the proper page. Now I need to approve the Journal but i think the Approve and Reject button is not functioning. and we noticed in IE's status bar, that the page was "done with Errors"
clicking on the done with errors area, we have the error message:

you have to search in Metalink using Advanced Search.. key-in "approve button" and select LinuxX86 as the platform..
If i remembered there is also a result regarding 11.5.10...
Mine is 11.5.9 related and it just instructed me to upgrade the Workflow mini-pack.. OWF.H.. I think 11.5.10.2 already includes OWF.H so your case might be a different one..

Google Maps buttons not functioning

Google Maps does not function anymore in Safari. None of the buttons work, including the search button (I can type in an address, but nothing happens when I press the mag. glass icon, or return), or any of the smaller icons in the corner including zoom in/out, help, tools etc.
Works just fine using Firefox, and I did update Flash to the latest version.
Any help appreciated--thanks in advance.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

Mavericks update, MacBook Pro, short cut buttons not functioning to

After recently installing the OSX mavericks 10.9.3 the shortcut buttons at the top of my keyboard are either not working or are not functioning with the correct button. I checked through the system preferences and found nothing to help me. What can I do to get the short cut buttons to work?

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears. Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Try a sfe boot:
Power off, power on holding the SHIFT key, continue to hold till you see the progress BAR, then release and allow to finish booting (this will take longer than a regular boot) after it boots shut down and boot normal.

IPOD Mini front panel buttons not functioning

First of all, thanks for reading my message.
I have this wierd problem. My front panel buttons namely Menu, forward, rewind, play/pause and wheel donot work.
The thing that is wierd is that my ipod is still functional using the remote. Even when I am playing MP3s using remote, those regular buttons dont function. They look like they are dead, no response what so ever.
Since the remote has limited buttons I want my front panel buttons to work. Any inputs on this regard is appretiated.

sync it to itunes.
Hold works.
ear phone jack works.
In all my IPOD is in a state similar to what you have when you switch to "HOLD". Irespective of whether I swith the hold button or not.

N95 8GB buttons not functioning

I've had my Nokia N95 8GB for 2 yeras now, when all of a sudden some of the top media buttons have stopped working, preventing me from accessing messages and contacts which is a complete pain. I have tried taking the phone apart to clean the board and performed a hard reset, but to no avail. Has anyone ever had this problem and have any solutions? Also, would I have lost all my contacts from reseting?
Any help would be appreciated as it's becoming increasingly frustrating not being able to read my new messages!

The likely cause of problem is the connecting foil cable between phone's main body and the sliding/screen section. It can easily be replaced with new unit which costs about $20. Make sure you purchase a quality unit. I purchased 2 (very cheap) units from China and 1 unit in USA and all did not function properly. Ended up buying it from reputable source, double the cost and it did work. This is your best option, just replace the part.
Other option is to use a Bluetooth keyboard. I used a mini bluetooth keyboard with my N95 and it controls all keys and shortcut funtions, etc. Not sure if you'll be able to configure keyboard at this stage (without use of some buttons).

Lock Button Not Function

hi there, I'm Wilfred, currently my ipad is having a problem which the lock button is not function. Thus it's caused me unable to screen lock my ipad in a proper manners. May I know is there any solution to overcome this issue? Thanks.

The side switch is the key. Depending on your settings, it may affect the mute or it may affect the rotation lock. Whichever function it supports, the other function is performed by a "soft switch." This support article from Apple provides detail.

In case you're wondering, here is the history. Originally, the mechanical switch affected only the rotation lock and the mute was a software switch elsewhere. In IOS-3, it was changed to be the mute switch and the rotation lock became a software switch. This was done to ensure consistency among IOS devices. Unfortunately, a large quantity of users complained loudly, alleging that they turned the rotation lock on and off several times every hour and the convenience of the mechanical switch is essential. In IOS-4, Apple bowed to the whiners and made the switch function selectable and now we're stuck with a mess.
There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site. If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.

Iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode, sleep button not working and Apple not helping

My iPhone 4 has been caused me a lot of frustration in the past week and after getting rejected from Apple Customer Service I did not know where else to turn. Sometime in January my iPhone 4's sleep/wake button stopped responding (it seemed to have gotten stuck) and in my initial call to Apple I was told there was nothing they could do for me even though I was within the 1 year warranty. I figured I could live without locking my phone, it wasn't that big of a deal to me so I simply ignored it.
However, just a few days ago my home button started being less responsive and this was clearly something I could not manage without. It was acting odd, sometimes it would work on the first try and sometimes it wouldn't do anything even after 4-5 tries. The worst part was it would automatically go to voice control even when it was sitting in my pocket. This of course caused me quite a lot of embarrassment since voice control would activate in the middle of my lectures sounding a chime and would dial a random person's number and I would open my phone to hearing someone calling my name. No fun indeed. I called apple about it last week and the nice agent told me that he had waved some sort of a fee to talk to me, I did not know I was required to pay to recieve basic customer support. He also said since I was over the one-year warranty by 7 days and because I do not have an Apple Care plan there was nothing he could do for me besides offering me a refurbished iPhone 4 for $150 as a replacement. I said thanks for the offer but that isn't exactly solving my problem. Since Apple comes out with a new phone every year and being an Apple geek I stay current with the new technology - the Apple care plan just doesn't suit me. I protect my phone in the best of cases and I have never damaged a product due to negligence, I'm not a kid anymore so I don't need to insure my products for my own stupidity.
Well just in the past few hours the demon iPhone went from making random calls to showing me a "Connect to iTunes" logo. I figured it had to be reset due to some software probelm (which meant I might not have to fork out $$$ to get the home button fixed), I gladly connected it to my laptop and now it wont seem to leave recovery mode. I have tried numerous times and it seems to complete recovery and then tell me to connect to itunes again. At this point I feel like I have lost my phone (and everything precious I had stored in it).
Of course as a business professional this is quite a set back. All my contacts, all my pictures and scans of products and documents and even the little notes that I kept on there to help me function - all gone. I haven't called Apple yet but since they were unable to help me before I am assuming there isn't much they can do now. I do not want to pay $29.99 to be able to talk to someone who will tell me I am out of luck. I am about 130 miles from the nearest Apple store so the Genius bar is out of the window. So in a last attempt to salvage this expensive piece of technology I turn to you Apple Community for suggestions. I was not able to find an email address for customer service or any method of communication to someone who could just hear me out and give me a reasonable excuse for why Apple cannot do anything for me. I always heard about the great customer service of Apple but I am surprised to see a product fail before my eyes and the manufacturer simply refusing to accept responsibility; all because I am 7 days too late. If I had dropped it or damage it through some programming experiments then I understand Apple refusing to do anything but this case is very disappointing.
I would sincerely appreciate any advice and apologize for writing a novel here, I wanted to present my case in the fullest of details.

I had the same issue (stuck in "Connect to iTunes" logo mode) and looked around for a resolution. I didn't find an answer posted anywhere. I ended up holding down the power button and the home button for about 20 seconds before it finally came back and said I had to restore it. Once restored, everything is fine.
My problem was caused when I accidentally closed the iTunes window when I was updating the software (I meant to turn off the volume as a song was playing, but clicked on the window close button instead of the pause button). I tried holding both buttons for the recommended 10 seconds several times and it didn't clear the problem. Holding both buttons for a longer period of time did the trick for me.
I hope this post is useful to others.

Pavilion tx1000 Tablet PC (tablet buttons not functioning)

I recently changed my operating system from a Windows Vista to Windows 7 (64-bit), for my HP Pavilion tx1000. After that change, the stylus has been sort of off. More importantly, when I turn the lid/screen, the screen image does not auto rotate anymore. Also, the tablet buttons do not work.
I'm no expert. I tried to go the Control Panel and every time I try to change the Tablet settings for the buttons, it tells me there's no functioning driver..
I went online, and I tried to install the 'Quick Launch buttons' driver (among others), but the most recent ones online for my PC are for Vista, and that doesn't work.
What else can I try?

Should be able to answer your own question by physically trying to rotate the blades with a thin tool or blowing into the blades & if bearings good it should rotate easily.
bearings fail, fan motor/boards fail, mainboard control & power can also fail !
Most modern equipment has almost no real effort in proper thermal control so some modifications may help but you will be limited in what is achievable on a finished product.
Here in Asia we have done a lot of notebook cooling mod combo's such as vent increases, thermal shims, quality thermal grease & secondary 25 to 30mm 5v case venting fans with internal porting & baffles to help good airflow/heat extraction with great results in reducing overheating & component failure ...
Should be done at the factory !
For $10 of parts we reduced a custom dv2500 with T770 & Nvidea graphics by 25% & made the machine reliable & feel safe rather than a lap microwave ...

ALV buttons not functioning

Hi,
I created a user-defined screen in an alv report.
MODULE status_9001 OUTPUT.
   "SET PF-STATUS 'ZMAIN'
    ENDMODULE.
When I run the report, the alv defined buttons are not getting activated. I activated them in the interface but still they are unfunctional. Kindly suggest what to do.
