Share/timing Issues-Importing I-movie HD movie, to Camera

Hello...I have an HD shot film in i-movie (15:00 Minutes) After editing in i-movie 06 HD, I share it to the camera it was shot on (Canon HV-30) Upon playing it back the audio is off or slipped? The Picture is amazing, but audio off? Anyone else experience this? Is their an adjustment?
Thanks Steve

Make sure your audio preferences AND the camera are set to 16 bit audio, not 12 bit.

  • Issues importing .mov at full quality

I have been using iMovie09 to edit video screen captures, imported as .mov files (1280x720) captured with a screen-capture software (iShowU). I've been importing them with the "Optimized" option set at "Full - Original Size" many, many times, and never had any issues. Now suddenly, I go to import the same exact .mov clips that worked fine previously, using the same exact import settings, and the video that's imported has horrible quality.
Granted, when I import at full size, there is a message telling me "Selecting Full on this computer may result in degraded video playback", but it's always been just fine until today. Might there be some maximum cache size somewhere that's hit it's limit? Other thoughts?
    Thanks!

Hi, I am in a similar position with a Sony HDR-CX7. I shot at 1080i and am now trying to work out a good workflow to retain maximum quality for 720p output (not DVD or BluRay etc).
From my research, in general iMovie (after v6 at least) is not a good friend to interlaced source material. It appears that generally it is going to just dump a field of the interlaced source material to get to a progressive intermediate codec that the editing is done on. This is why I have been going with the "large" (30fps, 540p) option, as at least their shouldn't be artifacts, just some lost detail.
I have not experimented with the "full" import option to compare though, I would be very interested to hear from others who have and can give some facts about what is going on.
Overall I am disappointed that Apple have chosen to hobble their handling of interlaces source material in their consumer level products, given that iMovie 6 did a good job with it and a lot of consumer level camcorders still require it.

  • Why can't I import an iMovie clip (.MOV) into iTunes?

After importing HD video (from a Canon Vixia HV40) into iMovie 11 (v 9.04) at 960x540 resolution, you get a bunch of .mov files. Does anyone know why those .mov files, as they come out of the import process, will not import into iTunes?
Here are the details. My brother wanted to put a small one onto his iPad. I told him the simplest way (or so I thought) to do it would be to import the .mov file into iTunes (v 10.6.1) and then sync his iPad. There was no need to make a project from the single clip, then share it. However, iTunes will not import any of the .mov files made with the iMovie import. Does anyone know why? This happens on my iMac (core i7) and his (core i5). Of course, if I open the .mov file in QuickTime Player (v 10.1) then export to a .m4v file (export setting "iPad, iPhone & Apple TV"), the new file imports into iTunes just fine. In case iTunes thinks you shouldn't be importing clips from the iMovie events folder, I dragged the clip to the desktop and tried the import, but that did not work either.
I guess what this comes down to is given that iMovie, QuickTime Player and iTunes all come from Apple, why can iMovie and QuickTime Player read the file while iTunes cannot? I would think the same code would be in all three products (do the iMovie and QuickTime Player developers refuse to share, while the iTunes developers are lazy?).

I had this problem also, only the .m4v files could not be imported either! The strange thing was I was able to do this task with other home vids in the past without issue. I simply shut everything down and rebooted at this point as a last dithch effort to avoid a trip to the Apple store and then it worked - itunes was able to accept the import.

  • I cannot import a Quicktime file (.mov) which I generated from a slide show out of iPhoto8 in iMovie8 (filename is grey); what did I wrong?

I cannot import a Quicktime file (.mov) which I generated from a slide show out of iPhoto8 in iMovie8 (filename is grey); what did I wrong?

iMovie 08 will only import files that contain codecs that it can edit. It will generally import audio and video codecs that iPhoto generates. However, if your iPhoto slideshow contains a manual advance track, iMovie cannot edit this and therefore will not import. In iPhoto, check to see if you can do a timed advance rather than a manual advance. Then it should import.

  • Lightroom 4.1 - I Cannot import Nikon D300s video / movie files into catalogue - Can you?

    Hi,
I can import all of my movie files produced by other cameras into my Lightroom 4.1 catalogue, I have the most recent version of Quicktime installed and obviously as I can import other camera model movies it proves that the basic Lightroom services and processes are working fine.
When I try to import the movie, first on the import module it says 'unable to create preview' and then it states, 'this movie file contains no video frames'.
I had gone back to Lightroom 3.5, but have since realised this version doesn't publish my movie files to flickr if they are >30Mb due to the way the Lightroom 3 Publishing module craps out on memory usage.
I know the D300s records movies using the J-MPEG codec, but I'm not sure if this is a problem with the codecs installed on my machine or whether Lightroom does not support this codec?
Before I waste another few days on trying to resolve the D300s import issue, can anybody else preview and import their Nikon D300s video files into Lightroom 4 or 4.1?
    Thanks,
    Simon

  • After I import a movie file from the camera memory card, Imovie 10.0.1 acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it worksnow?  Thank you, Filippo

On IMac 10.9  After I import a movie file from the camera memory card to Imovie 10.0.1 it acts as if the memory card is empty though I know it isn't.... I can't import that file to iMovie again.. is that the way it works now?  Anyone know?  Thanks, Filippo

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.
    Thanks

  • How do I import an existing finalised imovie into a new project either in part or full. The movie I want to import is filed under "movies" but greyed out when I go through the procedure in imovie 11

How do I import an existing finalised movie clip into  a new developing project ? I go through the imovie 11 procedure for importing and the list of clips (finalised and un-finalised) appears, but always "greyed out" which makes it impossible to create anything. I have tried placing it on the desk top and dragging but this doesn't work either.

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

  • Is there a way to import commercially purchased DVD Movie to my iPod?

Is there a way to import commercially purchased DVD Movie to my iPod?
I tried the "Import" function and that didn't work. Is there a function to convert and import or is there a program that might accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

I would argue that transferring the movie to another medium for *your own personal use* is covered under "fair use", but of course I am not a lawyer. The law that you may be breaking would be the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Read up:
    http://w2.eff.org/IP/DRM/fairuse_anddrm.html
In any case, we still can't tell you how to do it on these forums.

  • Imported image's position moves when updated in Indesign CS6. Why??

After modifying an imported image from illustrator, the imported image's position moves within the frame of Indesign CS6 when the link is updated.

You have not provided any relevant information, so nobody can know. you can simply have added content that expands the bounding box. Well, whatever, ask in the relevant forums and be much more specific.

  • Is it normal for Compressor and FCP to analyse an imported progressive H.264 movie as interlaced?file

I am worried my programs are corrupt, because FCP tells me my progressive H.264 file is interlaced (upper first) and Compressor analyses the same movie as bottom first. It should be progressive! Why are they not telling me it's progressive, and why both different to each other? Is it because theyn can't analyse a H.264 file correctly?! Please someone tell me what's going on!
    Thanks, Syd

    Hi Shane, thanks for replying.
The reason I imported the H.264 movie into FCP was to add a short logo clip to the end of it, which was requested after I had exported a self-contained movie from my timeline and already started converting in Compressor... it took 60 hours to deinterlace (set to Best) and convert to H.264 all in one Batch (using only a single target...I did everything in one target, rather than chaining). I know you can't edit in H.264, but I thought adding something to the end and then re-exporting to H.264 might work...
anyway, that's why I imported it, and then noticed that FCP analysed it as being still interlaced... So it occurred to me to check the movie Compressor had exported by importing it back into Compressor to look at what the A/V attributes tab of the inspector said... and it said there it was progressive. So now I was worried my programs were disagreeing, so I went back to square one, converted my original footage to Pro Res in Compressor, then ran that Pro Res footage through Compressor to de-interlace, then reconnected media in my FCP timeline, so that all the clips in the timeline were now progressive. Then I exported that as a self-contained movie and imported into Compressor to convert to H.264. Finally, knowing no other way to analyse the footage, and also wanting to see what FCP would make of it, I imported the movie into FCP, and found the result I put in the first post of this thread... so tried analysing in Compressor again, and found that Compressor thinks it is as I wrote in the first post above.
So now Compressor tells me the file it previously converted to progressive isn't progressive, and thinks it has a different dominant field to the one FCP thinks it has, even though the first time I ran this movie through Compressor it analysed its own result as progressive... so I feel these incompatible analyses are possibly a symptom of something wrong?
How can I analyse a H.264 file if neither FCP or Compressor can do it?

Photo Stream is not a backup.
Photo Stream has a limit so is temporary.
iTunes does not handle the import of photos/videos from any digital camera including from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
