Shared photos in iPhotos can't be used in iWeb?

My wife and I both have macs. I'm using iWeb on my machine, but she has a number of family photos in her iPhoto. She shared her iPhoto pictures so I can access them from my machine. In iWeb, I can see the shared album in the media viewer, but the content list is empty. If I open iPhoto and drag-and-drop a shared photo into an iWeb page, I just get a place holder with the name of the photo instead of the actual photo.
It doen't make sense that I'd have to physically copy the photos from her iMac to my PowerPC to use in iWeb...that defeats the purpose of being able to share photos, right?

I'm facing the same thing. Paul - did you ever figure out if this can work or not?

I have been trying to email work photos from my MacBook that were downloaded from my iPhone into iPhoto. However, it states, "the server does not recognized your email/password". I add the keyword 'sync' to any photos I want added to the iPhone/iPad.
Then, during the regular process of syncing the iPhone/iPad with my computer (mac), the photos with that keyword would be copied onto the iPhone, iPad.
I've been doing it this way ever since I was shown how to; ie after I got my iPhone 2 years ago. And every time the process worked - until the last few weeks. Suddenly it doesn't do it any more.
I believe I have upgraded software (either iTunes or iPhoto or both) during this period. I try to keep my software updated but have noticed previously that the new version often is disappointing.
I've not tended to use Smart albums much.

About TM "Backup Drive is Full"
Alert TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive.

I created a slide show using my photos on iphoto can I burn this to a dvd with the music in the backgroun

I created a slide show using photos from iphoto and I was able to put it to music to view it on my mac. I am trying to figure out a way to download it or burn it to a DVD with the music in order that it can be given as a gift. Also is there a way to use multiple songs for the slideshow.

First if you slideshow requires more than one audio track go to iTunes and create a new playlist with the music you want. You can take the total time of the playlist and divide by the number of slides to get the approximate playing time for each slide.
In iDVD go into the slideshow window and then click on the Audio button at the right. Locate the playlist and drag it into the music bin at the bottom of the window.

Be sure that non of the audio tracks are DRM protected tracks from the iTunes store. You won't be able to use them if they are. And remember this is only for slideshows created by iDVD from still photos imported from iPhoto.

Sharing photos from iphoto 11, why does the photo information not upload when I click with share via email? How can I make sure the photo information and location are shared when the photo (s) are shared.

When I go to share photos in iPhoto 11, The photos transfer to the email I'm sending but the photo information and location don't. The older version of iPhoto did it, why not this version? What am I missing in the process of sharing via email?, Thank You.

I have a large photo collection on my mac book pro, which I shared with my wifes account (via /User/Shared) using iphotos. Each of our Pictures directory had a symbolic link to the User/Shared directory (same group). This worked very well with the Apple TV.
Now we had moved to Photos from iPhotos.
Again the Photos directory is in /Users/Shared, and each of or photos account point to this one Photos database (I have have to use the /user/Shared path, as a symbolic link did not work)
I now turn on the Apple TV, and through the iTunes it is after a directory where the photos are. The default directory is Pictures, and it does not "see" a symbolic link to the /Users/Shared directory. I then chose the /User/Shared directory (from the Photo Sharing Preferences in itunes), and it can't "see" the shared new Photos directory ....
So at present I can display any photos to the Apple TV.
Does anyone have any thoughts ??

Recently Apple announce they are monitoring these forums. Even so, I suspect that as in the past, this is still mostly users talking to other users. If threre is something you think Apple should hear, they do want to hear it here:

I already reported my issue to Apple as a bug. My system was working, then part of it related to network use stopped about the same time Apple released a software update intended to fix other networking issues. Viewing Photos library on iCloud also had been working but stopped about the same time. To me it seems likely that in fixing one issue, Apple created another. I came here to see if others also had issues, or if my problem was because I was missing something. Seems like others have issues also.
I recommend you report your problem to Apple via the link above. They may not know there is a problem unless we tell them;

Move photos from iPhoto to iPad NOT using iTunes

I need to move photos from iPhoto (MacBook Pro) to a friend's iPad. Can't use iTunes as it reconfigures her pad sync to my Mac from her computer (a windows machine at her office) and changes everything on her pad. Tried an app called "Wondershare TransPod for Mac". It didn't recognize the pad (iPad Mini iOS 6.1.2). Any suggestions??

This has nothing to do with iPhoto for the Mac except a shared PhotoStream - http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ - could do it if you both have the correct hardware and software - otherwise post in the iPad forum -

How do i save a photo from iPhoto onto flash drive using new lion software

Trying to save a photo in iphoto (using new lion software on my mac) to a flash drive. There is no save button and can no longer just drag the photo into the drive. Any ideas.

You can select the thumbnail and type Command+C to copy it. Then click on the Desktop and type Command+V to paste it. That will get you the latest version of the photo in iPhoto.
However, you should be able to drag the photo to the desktop. Launch iPhoto with the Option and Command keys held down and rebuilt the library with the first and last options selected.

If that doesn't do the trick use Disk Utility to repair disk permissions.

I found my photos, but iPhoto can't

I was in the process of importing some photos from my "pictures" folder into my iPhoto - I dragged and dropped them into iPhoto - then I went into my finder to drag them into the trash - since I figured iPhoto had made a duplicate of them in it's hidden library - and I put MY ENTIRE LIBRARY in the trash (or at least I thought I did)- I realized this when all my photos inside iPhoto became black squares - the events and labels are all there - but the photo's are gone -
so I tried copying the photos from the trash into a folder and then getting them back into the library - but I have no idea where they go, and everywhere I put them, they turn into alias! So I begin searching and find them all somewhere else - apparently where they've always been, but iPhoto can't figure out how to link up with them..
Please help me - I have found my photos but I have over 1000 and want them to continue to be divided up in the events I've created as I imported them.
I have iPhoto '08
I found the photos in: HD>Library>Application Support>Apple>Automator>Workflows>Applications>iPhoto
I have NO IDEA what folder I put in the trash - nor any clue where those alias need to go - there in my iPhoto library right now in >iPhoto Selection

They were not in that folder.
I have no idea how, but they were completely removed from the iPhoto Library pkg file to the location I posted earlier.
Recently - I copied all 6K photos from the weird location into the library using the method you described, however - I put them in their own folder and then just imported them. This simply made one single event with 6K photos in it- and all my events are still empty with blank photos in them.
Would placing the photos all in the "Originals" folder prompt iPhoto to put them back in their place so they're organized like I originally had them?
There's no way I'm going to reorganize 6000 photos back into new events AND get the dates right...

Problems sharing photos through IPhoto for mac

I am using iphoto9.6 on a mac mini (late 2012).
My experience is not great, I'm a disappointed with the overall speed that everything only mac happens.
I'd like to address each of my problems one at a time, I'm kind of hoping that maybe resolving one problem will solve a lot of the others. (Always the optimist!)
SO.. I want to share a photo through messages, some times it works, often I get this message, some times other things go wrong.
I know thats not much info to go on, but if anyone can tell me what additonal info is required I will do my best to provide it.
One thing I will note is it sounds like my Mac is working its socks off, pretty much all the time, I'm not really asking it to do much, just open a few web pages and view a few photos in iPhoto mainly.
Any help greatly appreciated

Sharing photos (in Iphoto) between user accounts

Hi, I am a new Mac user, so nothing is obvious to me at the moment and I therefore apologise for the simplicity of this question.
I have a new black MacBook OS X I have set up two accounts on it, one for myself and one for my wife. However there are some applications which we would like to share (IPhoto and ITunes). I can see that there is a shared drive and I have tried to move these applications into there, however my wife's account still can't get access to these files/applications.
I KNOW there is an obvious solution to this, but can't find it!
What am I doing wrong??

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want your wife to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open her account. In her account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in her source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
This will work with iTunes too.
If you want your nearest and dearest to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the Users/Shared (or an external HD)
Make sure the file permissions are set to allow read/write access to everyone
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

Sharing photos from iphoto

I tried to share photos from Iphoto. After sending it says photos were sent but I am not getting a BCC and the photos are not being sent?

Where are you mailing your photos? On an iPhone, iPad, or on your Mac? If it is iPhoto on your Mac, check the settings in the Preferences > Advanced. Have you enabled "Automatically BCC Myself"?
If it is on an iPad, iPod, iPhone, then post back with the iPhoto version and the kind of device you are using, please.

Email address disappears when sharing photos in iPhoto

I run OSx 19.9.5
When I try to share a photo in iPhoto enter certain email addresses (not all) and they disappear when I tab to the next section.

Photos from iPhoto are fuzzy after publishing in iWeb

Hi,
I am using iphoto and made a photo page to use in iweb. In iweb all the photo thumbnails look fine. When I published them to my .mac site all the thumbnails still look fine. However, when I click on the photo to see the larger version, in 40% of the cases the photos look fuzzy.
These fuzzy photos are not fuzzy in iphoto and I do not see any difference between these photos and others that show up fine in iweb.
I also tried creating a photo page with just a few of the photos that show up fuzzy on the original photo page I made and they are still fuzzy, suggesting to me that there is something wrong with the original photo file. However, as I said these photos look great in iphoto. Any ideas?

I think the problem may be in the way iWeb resizes your photos for the slideshow/larger version. For the photo template, all of your photos are resized to 800x600 by iWeb....the problem is that you don't get any control over the amount of jpeg compression used or method of rescaling. Not all photos will look great at the same jpeg compression level and with the same rescaling method.
If you have some other graphics program that has these options, it really pays to take control of the jpeg compression aspect at the very least. I use a program called "Downsize" and also I use "Photoshop" sometimes. There are lots of other programs you can use, I'm sure. But basically, it will probably improve your images if you size them down to 800x600 yourself with one of these programs and then import them into iWeb.
