Sharepoint 2013 setup with multi tenancy
Hi,
Anybody have a proper guidance on how to setup SP 2013 with multi tenancy ? And aslo it should be with hosting mode, because we are the big hoster.
We need hosting SP 2013 with multi tenancy.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have made setup a SharePoint 2013 multi-tenancy.
I have some issues regarding SharePoint 2013. I have created one SharePoint site collection. I've designated myself as a site administrator. I'm able to login to the new site collection, however when I try to add people from my created SharePoint
site collection. It shows me "No results found".
But In central administration, I can add people as well as can give the permissions.
Any suggestions, How can I troubleshoot ?
Thanks in Advance.

SharePoint 2013 On premise Multi-Tenancy vs full SharePoint
Hi,
We have requirements coming in from joint ventures who need their own site collections/sites.
Rather than trying to implement them on our current full Enterprise SharePoint environment we would setup a seperate SharePoint deployment in multi-tenancy mode with partitioned service applications.
Before I offer this up as an option I need to let them know if there are any limitations to a multi-tenant environment over the full versions. I have seen reference to PerformancePoint not being available and it being harder to migrate to O365 in the
future if needed however I have not found a definitive list.
Does anyone know where I can find a list of the limitations (if one exists!)?
Thanks,
MarkThere is no specific list of limitations in one concise spot. But if you read Spence Harbar's articles on Multi-tenancy (for 2010 and 2013) you will find lists of things that don't work in multi-tenancy. For example, there are several services
like the Visio graphics service that don't support partitioning of their databases and are therefore a problem for multi-tenancy. As you mentioned PerformancePoint is another one. Read both articles and you should be able to compile a list of what
you need to know.

Hi there,
As per MS - SharePoint 2013 Enterprise SP1 is compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2.
I have Windows Server 2012 R2 installed - now it does not let me install SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (Standard without SP1).
AND SP1 can ONLY be installed AFTER SharePoint 2013 Enterprise is installed.
So how to install SharePoint 2013 Enterprise with SP1 on Windows Server 2012?
Thanks. You can download it at the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center:
https://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/servicecenter/default.aspx
or at the Microsoft Developer Network:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/
Please note that if you do not have access to either, you will have to work with the vendor who sold you SharePoint 2013 to get you a new ISO with SP1, or you will have to find a way to make a slipstreamed version on your own. I'm really hoping you
have VLSC or MSDN access, as this will make things much easier for you. -
Hi
I've been encountering the problem of Office files failing to open from SharePoint 2013 libraries with the prefix of 'ms-excel:ofv|u|' etc. in the url. Following the
helpful questions and answers in the forum, I've identified the likely cause as the fact that my main Office installation is 2010, but I also have installed OneDrive for Business 2013 (which I need in order to sync document libraries with my local drive).
The solution I've seen suggested elsewhere of deactivating the SharePoint integration of Office 2013 components fails for two reasons: there is no way (or at least, I can't find one) of deactivating SharePoint integration probably because, deactivating
SharePoint integration would likely stop the syncing of libraries/folders.
One thing that I have noticed in my case that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere is that if I right-click a document and select 'open in new tab/window' the required
document opens directly in the relevant office package. I don't know if this is a useful observation, but it seems to be new information.
My question is, is there a way I can continue to sync libraries and open Office documents directly in Office 2010? My thoughts are possible changes to registry settings
(which I can do, but don't know enough to find the correct ones myself) or (re)installation of software in some appropriate order to leave the correct settings.
I have 'repaired' my Office 2010 installation without any observed affect on behavior.
Thanks
Ray
(I've just seen a suggestion that Office 2010 SP2 may fix this issue. I've requested to test this, but whilst this may fix my problem, rolling it out to
other users may be more problematic. In the meantime, other suggestions of solutions are welcome)Hi,
According to your description, it is a good way to do a test about office 2010 SP2, here is an article about this issue- limitations of using the OneDrive for Business sync app with Office 2010 applications , it may help you.

Hi All,
I'm working on what appears to be a permissions issue with SSRS in a multi-tenented SharePoint 2013 environment.
As part of my troubleshooting I've ignored the multitenented web application for the time being and stood up a dedicated web application with it's own host header called reporting.<domain>.local. I've created a site collection and added a Doc Library
called Reporting.. And then the content types, made sure the features are up and everything tests ok. I mention this because it's not that I can't get this working.. I can't get this working in a Web Application configured for multi-tenancy running Host Named
Site Collections.
When I try redoing the above on a Tenant site I get the following:
Sorry, something went wrong The permissions granted to user '<domain>\bprice' are insufficient for performing this operation. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user '<DOMAIN>\bprice'
are insufficient for performing this operation.
Correlation ID: 7f23ef9c-4b6a-7007-7e6f-0b32c731f7ed
The problem here is that my account is a sysadmin in SQL, a local admin on all servers, a domain admin in AD and finally a Farm Admin in SharePoint. Access denied on my account is crazy. So it's unlikely to be perms in the traditional sence, more likely a denial
by implication (as though I have not been granted access to something)
When filtering the ULS Logs for that correlation ID I see the following log entries:
WcfReceiveRequest: LocalAddress: 'http://homsssrs001. <domain>.local:32843/04560e49d2664b64bc12d9ce7bc9f885/ReportingWebService.svc' Channel: 'System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel' Action: 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2011/06/01/ReportServer/Management/GetDataSourceContents'

Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user '<DOMAIN>\bprice' are insufficient for performing this operation.;
A quick google on what I consider the most important of the above log errors (#5 mentioning Sitesubscription of the context site) returns:
http://thesharepointfarm.com/2014/10/reporting-services-feature-pack/
We aren't using feature packs at the moment. As far as I understand it all features are available to all subscriptions.
Has anyone seen this issue? Can anyone point in the correct direction? There must be a config that's specific to SSRS and Multi-tenancy that I've overlooked but I genuinely can't get to the bottom of this.
Kind Regards & Many Thanks
BrettMorning Trevor, please find attached - if you can, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Brett

Sharepoint 2013 setup group permissions
In my SharePoint 2013 test sharepoint site, I would like to know how the users should normally have access to the test sharepoint site. Would the user sign as themselves individually or would they sign on with a group id? Can you tell me and/or point me
to a url that will show how to setup group permissions and how the users should login? There are two suggested ways to assign permissions on SharePoint sites:
Using SharePoint Groups
Using Active Directory Groups
Note: A site can be set up to either inherit permissions from the parent site, or to allow unique permissions to be set for the site. If the site is set up to inherit permissions from the parent site, you will have to Add Users or Active Directory Groups
to pre-existing SharePoint groups in the parent site.
Using SharePoint groups:
Click on “People and Groups”
Click on “New” from the drop-down menu
Select “New Group” Under “Choose the permission level group members get on this site:… ”
Select “Contribute” and click OK.
Click on “People and Groups”
Click “New”, from the drop-down menu
select “Add Users” Type in the netID(s) you wish to add
Click on “Check Names” (the netID(s) should now be underlined)
Under “Give permission”, select the group you just created and click OK.
Note: If site owners want their site to show up automatically in users' "My Links" in "My Site" then those users must be part of a SharePoint group and that group must be defined as the "Members of this Site" group.
Using Active Directory Groups:
Click on “Peoples and Groups”
Click on “New” from the drop-down menu
select “Add Users” Type in the name of the Active Directory group you wish to add
Click on Check Names (the group name should now be underlined)
Under Give Users permissions directly, select “Contribute” &click ok.
Note: You can specify multiple netID(s) or AD groups by separating the names with a semi-colon(;).
Below are list of permissions you can use for the site..
Permission Level
Description
Full Control
This permission level contains all permissions. Assigned to the
Site name Owners SharePoint group, by default. This permission level cannot be customized or deleted.
Design
Can create lists and document libraries, edit pages and apply themes, borders, and style sheets in the Web site. Not assigned to any SharePoint group, by default.
Contribute
Can add, edit, and delete items in existing lists and document libraries. Assigned to the
Site name Members SharePoint group, by default.
Read
Read-only access to the Web site. Users and SharePoint groups with this permission level can view items and pages, open items, and documents. Assigned to the
Site name Visitors SharePoint group, by default.
Limited Access
The Limited Access permission level is designed to be combined with fine-grained permissions to give users access to a specific list, document library, item, or document,
without giving them access to the entire site. However, to access a list or library, for example, a user must have permission to open the parent Web site and read shared data such
as the theme and navigation bars of the Web site. The Limited Access permission level cannot be customized or deleted.
NOTE You cannot assign this permission level to users or SharePoint groups. Instead, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 automatically assigns this permission level to users and SharePoint
groups when you grant them access to an object on your site that requires that they have access to a higher level object on which they do not have permissions. For example, if you grant
users access to an item in a list and they do not have access to the list itself, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 automatically grants them Limited Access on the list, and also the site, if needed. -
Add button to SharePoint 2013 form with InfoPath and/or SharePoint designer
Since I am new to working with Sharepoint 2013, I have the following questions to ask you about Infopath 2013 and possibly SharePoint Desinger 2013:
1. Yesterday I created a custom list in my 'test area of SharePoint' and opened the list in Infopath 2013 to see what the form would look like. Now I have alot more columns and edits to add to the list. I am planning to add more columns to the list when
I am in my 'test area' and then make cosmetic changes to the form using Infopath 2013. I am thinking that if I continue this way, I may lose some ediut changes I have made using Infopath 2013. Thus can you tell me the best way to add more columns to the list
and/or modify the existing columns and not lose the edit changes that I made using Infopath 2013?
2. The infopath 2013 form does not contain any buttons to click. I need a button to show up for every user to click so that a workflow can be started. Do I need some kind of a task list(action)? Thus can you tell me how to add this type of a button to the
form?Wendy, Please go through this video from
channel 9 (http://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/NickDallett/InfoPath-2010-Customize-a-SharePoint-List-Form) which will uilding froom explain similar form building from scratch.
As per Peter's replay yes you can update form even after add columns in list and you can add extar control like button to your infopath form.
Workflows are usually started when creating or updating an item inside a SharePoint document library.
Open the workflow in SharePoint Designer and under "Start Options' on the workflow's home page, remove the check from "Start workflow manually...". Be sure the check either "Start on create..." or "Start on change...". In
your case I think you would use "Start on create...".
Hope these inputs will help

SharePoint 2013 Problem with automatic detection of Site language - default language
Hi all,
we have a SiteCollection that was created with 'english' as
default language.
On our SharePoint 2013 environment we have installed the 'german' and 'french' language pack. Both languages are activated as alternative languages on that SiteCollection.
But the automatic language detection is not working properly for us.
Problem description:
User Browser language = German --> Site language = German
If you now change the Browser language to 'Italian' then we would expect that the site will be displayed in 'English' because the 'Italian' language pack is not installed and the SiteCollection default language was set to 'English'...
But the Site will be not displayed in 'English' it will keep the last language in this case 'German'...
Another example: If you change the browser language to 'French' the whole Site is displayed in French. If you try to switch now to 'Italian' then the Site will be still displayed in 'French' instead of 'English'...
Any ideas what could cause this problem?
Regards, SimonHi Simon,
Here is the order of the language preference showing to users with different settings
For your issue it may be due to the IE data cache, please clear all the IE data cache, then reopen the IE browser see if it displays the English language as expected.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff805087.aspx
If the User Profile service application is started on the SharePoint Server 2013 farm, the language preferences stored in the user profile are used. For information about how to add a list of languages to user profile settings in SharePoint Server 2013,
see Add, edit, or delete custom properties in SharePoint Server 2013 user profiles. For information about how to add a list of languages to user profile settings in SharePoint Online Administration Center, see Add and edit user profile properties on Office.com.
If no language preference is defined in the user profile, or if the server uses SharePoint Foundation 2013, the language preferences stored in the user's language settings for the site collection are used.
If no language preference is defined in the user's site collection language settings, the language preferences stored in the user's web browser are used.
If no language preference is defined in the user's web browser, the default site language is used.

Daniel Yang

Limitations of SharePoint 2013 integration with Exchange 2010?
Customer using SharePoint 2013 and looking at whether its possible to integrate this with Exchange 2010 and which features would be available / limitations. Looking for a matrix similar to those found in the Good, Better, Best documents available for previous
versions. Nothing available on Recently Published content for SharePoint 2013 yet http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262043.aspxI haven't seen a specific list, but the three features I've run into that only work with Exchange 2013 are eDiscovery in Exchange, Automatic Task Synchronization with Outlook and the Site Mailbox feature. There is a Legacy Task Synchronization mode
available that will work with Exchange 2010 if you turn off the Farm level feature controlling Exchange 2013 task synchronization. It lets users manually sync specific task lists with Outlook. But there is no task aggregation. I found this
whitepaper helpful for exploring the new features and how to turn them off when using Exchange 2010.

Sharepoint 2013 setup for a test site
In a sharepoint 2013 test site that I am using, I would like to be able to follow the section called 'deploy a workflow soltuion' that is located in the following url:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj819316(v=office.15).aspx.
When I look at the 'upload solution picture', I see the tabs for browse, solutions, and library. However when I look at my test sharepoint 2013 website, I see the tabs for browse and page. I do not see 'solutions' and 'library' tabs. Thus can you tell
me if my test sharepoint website is setup incorrectly or is this a permission is? Would you tell me what I can do to solve my issue?Hi Wendy,
Do you have administrative rights on the site. Only site administrator can upload the solution to solution gallery and activate that solution.

SharePoint 2013 Open with Explorer View Requirement of Permissions for copy / paste
Hi,
I have a scenario, where I have a document library and it resides in the top level site of the site collection. I have another document library in one of the subsites. What I am trying to do is:
Use Explorer View in the top-level site's document library to copy / paste into Explorer View of the document library in the subsite.
I can't seem to do it. Does it require owner permissions to do so?
Can anyone list the limitations of using explorer view for copy/paste?
techieHi,
SharePoint maintain the same access restriction in windows explorer view as it is in web UI. That means if user has contributor permission the he/she will be able to contribute in windows explorer view as well. By default windows explorer view is available
to every users in SharePoint.
Are you getting error message while opening windows explorer view for any document library? Windows explorer view only works in Internet Explorer currently other browsers doesn't support Windows Explorer view.
Here are couple of article on troubleshooting windows explorer view:
Office 365: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2629108?wa=wsignin1.0
There are multiple fix available for different Windows OS and version of IE you are using.

Excel 2013 Data From Web not working with SharePoint 2013?
In Excel 2013, on the ribbon select the 'Data' tab and 'From Web' to import data from a web page. Navigate to a SharePoint 2013 site with a table on the home page and you will not see the table import arrow on the table. With SharePoint 2010 you would have.
Any suggestions on a workaround/fix?
One thing to note, in SharePoint 2013 be sure to disable the Minimum Download Strategy feature on the site or you will get script errors in the New Web Query dialog.
Also, I realize this may belong in an Office/Excel forum so I have posted it there also.
Thanks, FintanHi Fintan ,
According to your description, my understanding is that the Excel table import arrow disappears in the SharePoint 2013 page.
For your issue , I can reproduce your scenario in my SharePoint 2013 environment. It should be caused by the Excel Data connection from web page feature cannot identify the page layout which is
used by SharePoint 2013 . For a workaround, you export the HTML table using jQuery:
