Sharing a "Flattened" copy of a fillable PDF from a mobile device - Reader App

Ever since the latest iOS update, our fillable reader extended PDF's are not working properly in the Reader App. I created fillable forms and save as a "reader extended" file. When we open the file on the Reader App, we can fill in the form and sign, but when we go to email the form it attaches the blank form to an email. It does not offer the "Share Original" or "Flatten copy" option before going into the email. We use this feature for mobile devices to sign contracts on site vs. going on a laptop. If I open a normal PDF file, a non fillable form, I can email the original or flattended copy from the reader app but this is not needed on a normal PDF. How can I share the flattened copy of a fillable form from the reader app on the iPhone/iPAD? Is this issue going to be resolved or are there settings I need to change in the PDF file before saving it for reader extended?

Thank you for reporting the issues with Reader Extended PDFs.
"when we go to email the form it attaches the blank form to an email. It does not offer the "Share Original" or "Flatten copy" option before going into the email."
As you mentioned, Reader for iOS version 11.2 does not offer the E-mail Document dialog with the two options for Reader Extended PDFs.  We will investigate if this is a new defect that was accidentally introduced in Reader 11.2.
Regarding the other issue, please note that a PDF form that is sent as "Original" does not become a blank form.
The problem is that many non-Adobe PDF viewers, such as Apple Mail (the default email app on iOS) preview feature, Apple iBooks, Apple Preview for Mac OS X (desktop), do not render form fields or comments correctly.
A workaround is to make sure to open an "Original" (non-flatten) PDF document in Adobe Reader.  For example, an email recipient (who views your "Original" PDF form in Apple Mail on iOS) can long press (press and hold) the preview of the PDF form and select Open in Adobe Reader.
We will get back to you on the issue with the E-mail Document dialog soon.

  • How to create a fillable PDF from InDesign?

    Hi everybody!
Hope there's no thread about that... by the way. I have to create a fillable PDF from a InDesign file.
I try to explain: with ID I'd create a file with text form, tables, images with text forms on them etc.... Now I have to export that in PDF and I want to transform the forms (sorry for the bad english, I'm italian) in fillable ones in PDF. How can I do it?
    Thanks to everyone!
    Dario

Export the ID file as an Interactive PDF.
Open the PDF form in Acrobat XI  and then:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes for fill-in & save). . . Your users will be able to fill in the form and save it (assuming they have the later versions of Acrobat Reader).
Make sure you keep a copy of your original PDF with a different file name as once you've created a Reader Enabled PDF Form you can't change it.

  • Random characters added in Excel export from Adobe Tracker (via fillable PDF from FormsCentral)

Exported fillable PDF from FormsCentral and distributed it via Adobe Pro X.  Received two responses and from the Tracker, we exported to Excel.  In the Excel columns, there are seemingly random characters and the word "edit" which are not in our question.  For example, "_10_8_House_rep_edit;_6S7OYQDcL9nQcNR6j761WQ
    Thanks!

    1. To edit the PDF follow these steps : http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3661
    2. The fillers don't need to have a subscription (paid or free) to fill up the form. They can fill out the PDF and save it to their machine and then submit. Only the author of the form needs to have a paid FormsCentral subscription to collect data via PDF forms.

  • Loading fillable PDF from IE endless loop

    Hello,
I am having an issue. I am trying to load a fillable PDF from Internet Explorer but every time I hit the load button my computer goes into and endless loop with downloading into a temp folder then back to IE and then again to downloading to the temp folder. This is not with just 1 file but multiple.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "load button"; do you mean Save?

  • How to get dark elements in background to be visible on PDFs viewed on mobile devices?

I would appreciate any information about how to export to PDF an InDesign document, which has multiple dark jpeg layers used to create a background, so that those elements appear in mobile device PDF viewing, just as they are seen on a computer monitor's version of the PDF viewing experience.
On mobile devices - iPhone and iPad - the background of the PDF appears simply as black. All the other texts and color photos in the foreground areas of the InDesign document appear perfectly on the mobile devices on the PDF.  Yet, the darker background elements render as solid black on the mobile devices.  Perhaps, this is always the case so that the PDF can be rendered viewable on mobile devices more quickly. I don't know.  The same PDF is viewed perfectly on computer monitors. This is only an issue with the mobile device viewing of the PDF.
I've tried everything I know to do to choose different and particular settings in the "Adobe PDF preset" type area from within InDesign in order to create viewable background elements via a PDF viewed on mobile devices.
Any information as to particular settings for the InDesign document to Adobe PDF which would allow ALL elements to be seen on ALL electronic devices would be especially helpful.

Steve,  thank you for your post as well.  Please see my first reply, which was in reply to Bob Levine's question.  I can't provide a link to the document because it's part of a collaborative work that I'm contracted for - so I can't violate that with a public sharing of the PDF.  Otherwise, I would share a link.  But your comment about the different app Readers you used, gave me the idea to try all of them that I have.  Because the doc was in a Dropbox shared folder, I could access it via my Dropbox app on my iPhone/iPad.  So, I decided to go through multiple options with what they allow you to open a PDF in, to read it.  I had only tried a few.  Then after your comment I decided to try whatever else they had and tried the Adobe PDF reader one - and it opened with all the visual elements there.  I'll have to tell the folks, that I'm doing the work for, to open it in the ADOBE PDF Reader app now.

  • Is there a way to print or direct a PDF from Acrobat to another local app?

Is there a way to print or direct a PDF from Acrobat to another local app? I assume not and there is nothing suitable that I can find in the API.

    Hey there -
Nope - at least not when printing to PDF. IOS is a tidge, er, limiting.
I re-posted in the IOS area; we'll see what happens there.

  • Fillable PDF from RTF template

    Morning all..
So, I have created a report layout using a RTF file. Then in Application Express, Under Shared Components -> Report Layouts / Queries I have created a report that is filling the RTF file just fine and outputting to PDF. My question would be, once it creates the PDF, Is their a way to have fields in the PDF that the end user can fill in?
Resonse for this would be for Digital Signatures and other generic fields that are not stored in the database. I know I can creat a form to fill in most of it, but it would be very helpful to be able to fill in the pdf and save after it is generated from the report queries.

It can be done via a 3rd party product, either using Adobe's pdf product (not reader but the builder utility) or from the list provided by this Google link:
    http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=fillable+pdf&btnG=Google+Search
It would be external to your application though..
    Thank you,

  • Windows File Sharing - Unable to copy/see files using MacBook  from XP PC

I've trawled the internet for an answer to this and tried hundreds of little tweaks but all to not avail, so I'm here.
I've set up two shared folders using simple file sharing on a Windows XP (SP3) laptop. They have been given read/write permissions and were setup using an Administrator account (the only account).
Using Finder on my MacBook I can connect to the XP laptop and can see the shared folders. However, when I try to copy any file from the XP laptop's shared folders to my Macbook, it encounters an error (something about not having sufficient permissions). Also, if there are subfolders inside the main shared folder then I cannot see the individual files inside these subfolders.
I've tried using the XP laptop with and without a password, have disabled all anti-virus software (including Windows Firewall) and yet it still won't work.
After multiple restarts and changing options on both my MacBook and the XP laptop the same problem persits. Any light that can be shed would be most appreciated.

Hi - Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having pretty much the same issue!
    Thanks,
    Jacki

  • Can I copy part of a PDF from iBooks?

I emailed a PDF to my iPad.
    Then opened it in iBooks.
Now I want to copy part or all of the document into a Pages document.
I can't find a way to get a Select or Copy menu to come up.
I've tried tapping, double tapping, and holding my finger on the page?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
Copy the content of PDF file in Adobe Reader and paset it to MS Word then create PDF file from the Word file.
This may not work for all PDF files as some PDF files are not created correctly or some content cannot be copied.
Acrobat XI Pro has features to extract/delete/crop pages in PDF files and you can download it from www.adobe.com(Trial version- 30 days free). Or you can upgrade your subscription to Acrobat Plus and see more information at https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html

  • How to automatically create fillable PDFs from XML

We are looking for a way to create fillable PDFs that users can enter data into and save (so the PDF needs Reader Rights applied) and we want to be able to automatically create these PDFs from XML files. We are able to do what we want in a manual fashion using Acrobat Pro v8 but we need a way to automate this due to the volume of XML files that we will need to convert.
Is there any way that this can be scripted from a command line interface with Acrobat.. like:
    Acrobat.exe –input FileName.xml –output FileName.pdf –applyReaderRights true
If there is no command line options for this is there any way that this could be coded using .NET or any other programming language?

You cannot automate applying usage rights with Acrobat. For that you'd need to use Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
How exactly are you currently converting XML into fillable forms? Are you using an XDP to somehow convert to an XFA-based PDF?

  • Creating a correctly separated PDF from Illustrator in Acrobat Reader 7,8,9

I work in an organisation with users having various versions of Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader.
We need to create a PDF from Illustrator, I guess by using 'save as', that can be correctly displayed in Acrobat 7 onwards.
A flattened PDF views correctly in all versions, but doesn't allow some users to view separations as it converts to CMYK.
My understanding is that PDF-X could ensure overprint is on, so the PDF will display correctly.  But, for versions 7 and 8 overprint preview will need to be activated in order for the PDF to be correctly displayed.
Does anyone know of another solution, in that we could create a PDF, correctly separated and viewable in Acrobat Reader 7, 8, 9.
    Thanks

Why are your Reader users using different versions? It's a free download. Get them all on the current version.

  • Printing PDF from IE with Adobe Reader - extra white space at top of page

I searched the forums far and wide but did not find this question or information to answer it.  If it's out there, I'd be much obliged if you'd point me in the right direction.
A user of the web app for which I do tech support just called to say that starting today, whenever he opened a PDF from our app (in IE), the PDF looks fine on screen but when he prints the PDF, every page has extra blank/white space inserted at the top, which cuts off the bottom inch or two of each page.
No other users have called with this complaint, and if changes to our app or an automatic background Adobe Reader or IE update caused this problem, I would have heard from many users.  I have a sneaking suspicion I have heard about this from other users, but since troubleshooting their IE or Adobe isn't exactly my job, I don't know if I did any more than advise them to talk to their tech support people.
I can't recreate his problem (read: it works fine for me), but I'd like to help him.  Can anyone think of a reason why this might be happening?
    Thanks in advance.

What I know:  He's using Adobe Reader X.  I do not know if it's the most recent version.  The problem only exists with PDFs from our web app; he's not having trouble with other sites or with other PDFs.
I do not have a copy of the PDF; I can't give you the copy I downloaded when I logged into his account because there is proprietary confidential information on it, but everything worked fine for me and he's the only user with this complaint, so I believe it's related to his PC or printer, not to our app or to Adobe per se.
I sent him email asking for more information, but I do not know what printer he's using.  I don't even know what version of Windows he's running.
Based on some info from Adobe, I suggested he make sure he's using the most recent version (10.1.2), try 'print as image" to see if that's any more successful, and make sure his printer drivers are up to date.
Given the nature of tech support, if he solves the problem or finds a workaround he's happy with, I may never hear from him again to know.  I just wanted to know if this was a known issue and what recommended resolutions for it might be.  Having not found anything on the web at large, I figured the Adobe forums would be a good place to ask.
Thanks for the time you took to answer.
