Sharing apps between two iTunes accounts

Aloha all,
My wife and I have two iMacs, two iPhones and two ipads. We have purchased music and apps on separate iTunes accounts. She has purchased an iPad app that I'd like to put on my iPad. Can it be shared or do I have to buy it too?
Thanks!

  • Sharing Music between two Itunes accounts

I bought my father a nano for Xmas and want to load music from my I tunes account on his nano. But he has his own Itunes account. How can he keep the music I loaded and sync his own Itunes with his nano without deleteing songs? We both have PC with XP.

    This article describes two methods:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
If you want only one library, use the second method.
    There are some disadvantages:
If one of the users deletes a song, the other can't play it no more.
If one user adds a song, the other has to add it to his/her library too.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can You Home Sharing Between Two iTunes Accounts

    Hi,
My Dad has a vast amount of music on his itunes account and my old iPod used to be linked up to his account. But recently I got a iPhone 4 and I created my own iTunes account. I would like to be able to listen to the music on my Dad's account as well as the few songs I've purchased on mu account. Can I use home sharing (or something similar) so that I can listen to his music and my music on my iPhone?
    Thanks in advance!

Simply enable Home Sharing with the same iTunes account info on all devices.
You still make purchases using your own iTunes account.

  • HT1373 how do i share apps and music between two itunes accounts

How do I share music from my itunes account with my daughter so she can put it on her ipad?

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
To give others selective access to your iPhoto library, you have the option of using iCloud Photo Sharing, if the privacy implications don't bother you. The images will be stored temporarily on Apple servers.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support articles linked below.

There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions.

  • How do you share music between two iTunes accounts on one computer?

My wife and I share a Windows 7 laptop computer.  We have separate Windows logins and separate iTunes accounts.  When we had separate computers we were able to use Home Sharing to share our music but this doesn't work when you have two accounts on the same computer.
Is there a way to share our music libraries without wiping out what is already stored in our individual iTunes music libraries?

Click here and follow the instructions.

The process for sharing libraries is much [easier in iTunes 8|http://forums.macworld.com/thread/105366?tstart=0]. If you simply want to share a few songs, you are better off having a copy of those tracks in each of your libraries, but there is little point to that as you can access each other’s libraries in read-only fashion.

  • Sharing music between two itunes libraries on same mac computer

Hi. We have one computer with two Itunes Libraries (when we click on Itunes we use the Option Key so that we can choose the appropriate Library).
What is the best way to move songs between the two Libraries. I tried burning a cd from one library and then uploading to the next - but that didn't work and took forever.
    thanks
Ps: To give you idea of which Itunes I have - here is my most recent update:

  • Can you put apps from two iTunes accounts on one device?

I just got an iPhone from work. I would like to put some apps I got for my personal iPod on it, but I also plan to purchase some work-related apps using a work-account (charged to the company card). Is this possible? From what I understand it would be possible to put apps I purchased for the iPod onto the iPhone, but I can't find if I can then use a new account to purchase more apps for the iPhone.
Can someone let me know if this would work? Otherwise I'll just buy the apps using my personal account and get reimbursed (not as neat, but I can't use the work account for personal apps!)

    Yes, you can do that.
You just have to remember from which accounts you bought which Apps when updating them, as you won't be able to update an App bought in one iTunes Account from another iTunes Account.
As far as purchasing new Apps goes - just log-in to the required iTunes Account on the computer you sync your phone to (which should only be one computer), purchase the Apps then sync them to the phone. If you want to purchase Apps from the other iTunes Account, log-out in iTunes then log in with the other iTunes account.
It might just be easier to purchase everything through the one personal account though...

  • Sharing Apps between two ipads

    ok here is the situation..
Me and my mom both have an ipad2. she syncs hers on her computer and i sync mine on my computer and we both have seperate itune accounts. we are both buying the exact same games, is there anyway that we can share them so we are both not buying the same games? my computer is windows 7, hers is windows vista, idk if that changes anything. please let me know if this is possible.
also, if she was to just sync hers to mine only for the aps what would happen once she synced hers back into her computer? thank you.

  • Can i share music between two iTunes accounts on the same computer

I know you can share the library with 'home share', but can you copy the titles to the account sothey can be loaded on to an ipod / iphone?
Or have i got to load any required music on to the computer a second time?

    This should help:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Note that when it says "publicly accessible location", it needs to be a place where everyone has read and write access. The most common such place is the Shared folder in the Users folder, but you can place the music elsewhere if you change the access permissions manually (don't start tinkering with permissions unless you're confident you know what you're doing and can reverse things if they get messed up).
    Regards.

  • Sharing apps between 2 user accounts

I have set up my iMac with 2 user accounts (one for me as the administrator and one for my wife). We have downloaded a check book program called Moneydance. I want my wife to be able to access it from her account even though I installed it on my account. I asked the guy at the Apple store and he told me to put it in the "Public" folder. I did that and it didn't work. I even tried it with a simple word document. No luck. Any ideas?

Technically, you don't install applications "on" an account. You install them into a folder or other file system location & the access controls for that location determine who can use it. In the default configuration, everybody has access to the root level Applications folder, so this is where you normally install apps that all accounts can use.
Since by default most of the locations in your account's home folder are not accessible to other accounts, any apps installed into any of those locations would normally be accessible only to to your account. You can grant other accounts access to items in locations in your home folder, but you must remember that unless they have at least read access to all the folders that enclose the items, they can't see them to access them.
Because this can get complicated, unless you have some reason to allow application access only to certain other accounts, just installing the app in question to the root Applications folder is the simplest solution.

  • Can i download apps from two iTunes accounts?

Just got a new iPad from the school district.  The district technician loaded it w/ apps, however, our school librarian has some different apps that she syncs locally for the iPads we use in our classrooms.  I'd like to have some of our school apps, but not wipe out those that have already been loaded.  Is there a way to do this?

    Yes very Easy.
Go to App store select Featured or Top of charts.  scroll to bottom of page Logout of current Applestore ID and then log in using an existing user Name.  Passwords required for all of this. Then go into Updates or more and select purchased. there will be Two colums here on the device. ON DEVICE  and not of this device, Select not on device, once there select App and download. Then go back to Featured and log out and relogin under main account
