Shift + Enter (Play from Selection) Bug? Logic 9.1.6

Hi. Im currently using Logic Pro 9.1.6 on USA macbookpro with OSX 10.7.2 installed. Is there a known bug when selecting a region then Shift and Enter (play from selection)? Can't get mine to work.... anyone else having this issue? Ta. Ju

When rewiring logic x and reason, play from start in logic..(this doesn't happen when you play from start in reason) when the playhead is at 0 it kind of goes back a millisecond and plays... which makes it not synced with material in rewire application. Sure you can always hit play in Reason or Rewire app... but this is completely unsuable when bouncing the project!!!! Help please!!!!

Play from region start

Hi all,
After searching around in the key command menu, I still cannot seem to find a relatively simple operation: play from selected region.
I have a ton of regions I need to jog back and forth between and I'd like to just highlight them by using the cursor keys (which I know how to do) and then hit some key command so that Logic plays from the beginning of the selected region.
Surely I am missing something completely and painfully obvious.
Any help?

Maybe not painfully - but yes, obvious, once you know it...
What you are looking for is called *Play from Selection* and the default Key Command is ⇧-⌅ (⌅ meaning Enter, on the numpad). This command is only available as *Key Command*, not as a menu item.

If you are on a small keyboard (ie with no numbers pad) use FunctionShift Return
or If you are on a 'numbers keyboard', the Enter key is on the right next to the 3 key (and NOT the Return Key).

"Select music to play from the music library" error mess

This is an error that I am just after spotting today. When I navigate through my music collection and through the various options?on the Creative Vision M 30GB the message "Select music to play from the music library" appears for a few seconds on screen.
Can figure out what is causing the error, I am using just over 50% of the devices capacity. The problem suggests that the device is having problems keeping up with my selections. Shift + enter does not open library selection

No matter how I try to open iTunes - shift + left-click, highlighting the icon (or program in Explorer) and then shift + enter, iTunes only opens the last opened library. I am not getting the dialogue box that lets me choose which library I want to open.
Windows 7 Home Premium + iTunes 10.7.0.21

The way that I find works is to click the icon that launches iTunes from the start menu (or double-click one on the desktop) and immediately press and hold down the left shift key. Keep holding until asked to create or choose a library. If iTunes opens normally, close and try again.

What is your iTunes version?
If iTunes 11, have you checked the "Up Next" list? If it is not empty, try if clearing "UP Next" will help:

Scratch the post above - the musics that plays in the playlist also plays in the library and that is because i forgot that i imported from the cd yesterday. Basically, I see the rest of my music, but it doesnt' play and tells me it can't locate the file though the location in 'perferences' points to the correct location. Getting iTunes to play after a new computer or rebuild is a headache.

Why does my playhead return to the initial position when pausing/stopping playback after playing from beginning?

How do I prevent the playhead from returning to it's original position after pausing or stopping with the spacebar or k button? With either the skimmer on or off, whenever I pause or stop the **** playhead will always return to the position it was last at. I don't understand why neither of the shortcuts would just stop the playhead at the point that is being played at. This may seem like an extremely edgy way to go about editing, but I might actually wish to pause the playhead at any given moment and position my playhead nearby said moment before creating an edit point (without having to add a marker and return to it with the blade tool, or take note of the specific duration and use the duration control to go to that specific point or any other unnecessary steps when doing a rough cut). I simply would like the playhead to pause/stop at the moment I press either keyboard shortcut. After the many attempts at trying to make FCP X work for me and the many "workarounds" by FCPX enthusiasts, it's disheartening to know that most other editors in my circle who make a living doing paid commercial work are wondering why I've decided to take a break from using CS6 (and it's integration with the industry-standard AE) to give FCP X a shot, all to make very simple tasks like the one aforementioned a mystery... any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Yes i've trashed my preferences, but I should be more specific as to what I am actually doing. Because I am working from my macbook pro and do not have a "home button" which was the original shortcut to "play from/go to beginning" and because I did not like the replacement shortcut in FCP X to play from beginning (without a home button it was something like Function + Shift something else on a laptop) I became used to Adobe Premiere CS6 and made the return key my "play from beginning" shortcut. It was available and did not have a use by itself (only to confirm changes/choices), did not effect it's use in conjunction with other shorctus so I choose enter as my "play from/go to beginning"...
So when I play from the beginning and attempt to pause or stop the playhead, regardless of how I choose to do it (spacebar or k) it does not stop at that specific instance and always returns to where it previously was. This seems very confusing and inconvenient, I would hope at least one of these shortcuts would actually stop the playhead where it was at that moment where I press stop or pause. It's extremely frustrating knowing that I cannot pause the playhead where it's playing if I choose my "play from beginning" shortcut.
Also since you seem to be a guru and an expert, i'd like to know if you cut with FCPX on a laptop and what shortcut you use whenever you'd like the playhead to go to the beginning of the timeline, end, etc since there are no "home" or "end" buttons on a laptop....

Keyboard Shortcuts Conflict. Shift F6 Changed from Feather to Flip

I have been using Shift+F6 to acquire Feather in Select>Modify. Suddenly, instead of Feather, the selection flipped. A bit of mucking around found that Shift+F6 is assigned to Actions>Flip, and it makes sense because it actually is Flip Horizontal whilw Shift F7 is flip Vertical.
Checking Keyboard Shortcuts does have Shift+F6 assigned to Feather. I deleted it and tried to reassign it to Shift+F6 but Shortcuts would't allow it as Actions takes precedence.
So, I deleted it from Actions, but how did it get there? I was in the middle of setting up a new Action which did use the Feather Command but when I invoked it in the Record Mode, it flipped instead.
I do not recall having set Shift+F6 to either function. Logically, it seems to belong to Actions, but I have been using it as Feather since installing CS5.
If this is a know bug, are there any other Shortcuts that have unresolved conflicts or worse, arbitrary points where the command goes elswhere than what you expect?

Did you load up the Commands actions set (which contains the Flip actions) from the fly-out menu at some point recently? They're not normally installed in the Actions panel by default.

Tolerance dialogue missing on "make work path from selection"

I am trying to convert a 1-color drawing to a path so I can put it into Illustrator. I use the magic wand to select the edges and get a nice tight fit. But when I select the "Make work path from selection" button, I get a sloppy fit. I've looked this up, and supposedly I should get a dialogue box asking me to state the tolerance. I have never seen that box - I've tried it and had colleagues come try it. My version 13.1.2 x64. Seems like a bug to me, but maybe I'm missing something. Is there another way to do this? Thank.s

[EDIT] As an aside to the above information, having had a play with it, I have realised how poorly the 'Make work path from selection' feature works in Photoshop. It has always worried me that distibution of points that result from using that feature on a Shift drag eliptical marquee circle, appear less than optimal, but I have just lived with that because it is quick and convenient. But having just looked again, zooming right in and activating the point handles, the curve is just plain horrible!
Me thinks I shall take the time to do it properly in future, by using the Shape tool.
It also amazed me how many points were used when setting tolerance to the minimum of .5
Anyway... I am not getting my work done here, so time to earn a living

How to start midi event playing from the middle of event?

I'm not sure if my post title is correct but...
I have a two minute piece of music with various instruments playing. There are some strings that play the same couple of notes throughout.
At the moment I am working on a middle section but as I loop, the srings aren't triggered - I have to play from the start (before the event starts). I did not have a problem with Cubase but I can't find a way to do this in Logic.
It's probaly quit simple though?

This typically means the midi notes themselves start before the beginning of the loop point you have choosen
You can quantize or manually move the first notes so that they start at the beginning of the loop and not just before... to resolve this..
Select the regions and then check the event list for the region to confirm this is what is going on...

How can I set all of my songs to play from iCloud with iTunes Match once I've deleted the original file from my computer?

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered, but after days of looking I cannot find a solution. I would greatly appreciate any advice. I have iTunes Match and recently deleted all of my music intentionally because I plan on using iTunes Match for a good long time and I also know that I can download my files in bulk if I ever the need arose. That being said, now I am having to individually click on songs to make them play. I will get the message "The song 'x' could not be used because the orginal file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
Then I click "Cancel" and the song plays from iTunes Match. Is there a way to make this happen for all of my songs? Thank you in advance!

Hey I had the same problem-
The fix to solve the error was quick and easy:
-Go to My Music tab and click on the song view to show all tracks.
-Then simply organize by the iCloud Download column. (if not shown, right click the column menu)
-The songs without any sort of iCloud icon shown are the ones with the error as you mentioned.
-Select all of those and hit delete. It will then ask to delete off of iCloud but make sure to click NO.
Voila no more annoying error on every SINGLE track over and over. I felt your pain, and now we are free!
