Shockwave Flash Error on FireFox Browser

Ever since I updated my FireFox browser and Shockwave/Flash
media plugs I've had nothing but problems. Everytime I go to a site
such as MySpace, upon loging in, or reviewing someones profile.. I
recieve an error that says:
"Illegal Operation in Plug-in
Shockwave Flash
The plug-in performed an illegal operation. You are strongly
advised to restart FireFox.
[ ] Don't show this message again during this session."
I have tried everything I know of to fix this issue and have
come up short. Anyone else having this problem? Know how to correct
it? Unfourtantly, if I ignore the issue after a few more webpages,
FireFox locks up and needs to be rebooted (the process shows
FireFox still running, and it has to be manually shut down).
Thanks in advance ya'll,
ErrorProof

I have been wrestling with this problem for many months. I've
tried the Flash uninstaller, I've tried installing the newest
Flash, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox. The only way
I've made the error go away is by installing Flash 6 but many sites
now won't load because they say I need the most recent version of
Flash.
I run Windows XP and Firefox 1.5.0.3 and I get the same
nearly every time I browse a site with a Flash movie. One site that
is almost guaranteed to make the error occur is
http://www.gh3d.com.
Keep replying to bump this issue until it is fixed. Adobe

  • How do I fix the "shockwave flash" error, causing firefox to lock up, slow, or crash?

continous errors about "shockwave flash", "script has stopped working" etc, causing numerous slowdowns, lock-ups, and crashes. have tried several fixes, but none have worked.....please advise

Is it a permissions problem? Here's another way.
    (1) In a My Computer or Windows Explorer window, open this folder:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
If that folder does not exist, then you are using 32-bit Windows, and you can open the following folder instead:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
''(Note: This folder exists on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, but on 64-bit Windows Firefox uses the Flash player in the SysWOW64 folder instead.)''
    (2) Check for a file named mms.cfg:
    (A) ''If mms.cfg exists,'' drag it to your '''Documents folder''' where you can edit it without being bothered about administrator privileges
    (B) ''If mms.cfg does not exist,'' open your '''Documents folder''', right-click > New > Text File and name the new file mms.cfg
    (3) Open mms.cfg from Documents into a text editor such as Notepad. Add this on its own line (I put it last):
    ProtectedMode=0
Save the file and close Notepad.
    (4) Hold down the Ctrl key and drag the mms.cfg file back to the Flash folder to make a copy there, keeping the original in Documents
This change should take effect the next time you restart Firefox.
Hopefully that works around the permission issue.

  • "Could not load Shockwave Flash" error not solved from common fix.

I am using Google Chrome as my web browser and I am getting the, "Could not load Shockwave Flash" error message. I have googled it and followed the common fix, however it does not fix anything. If I disable the plug-in then it prompts me to install Flash Player when I view videos and if I try to install Flash Player it tells me that I already have it installed, but it is disabled and to re-enable it. I've done about all I can think to do, please help?

    You cannot:
    -download
    -install
    -repair
    -update
Flash Player for Chrome from here. Chrome uses a proprietary build called PepperFlash. It's modified by Google before they embed it and Adobe doesn't have downloads for it.
    You can try the following:
    1. Exit chrome, make sure it is not running
    2. Using Windows explorer go to C:\users\[user name]\AppData\local\Google\Chrome\User data\Pepperflash
    3. Delete the folders you see there
    4. Start chrome again.
    Notes:
[user name] is your logon name.
In order to access the AppData folder, you need to "Show Hidden Files and Folders" in your Folder Options.
If those steps fail, the ONLY way to repair it is to uninstall and reinstall Chrome.

  • Shockwave Flash plugin hangs Firefox, how do I stop this?

The shockwave flash plugin consistantly hangs firefox with everything Youtube related. I can't watch any videos of that format (which seems to be most videos.) Whenever this happens, I have to end the plugin_container process from the task manager. How can I stop this from happening? Is this issue being addressed? If this continues, I will be forced to switch away from Firefox permanantly.

  • Class not found error on Firefox browser

    Requirement:-
We have Apache server on the top of a tomcat container where we have deployed application Webnow. This application will provide SSO to another application Imagenow. The requirement is we have to authenticate and authorize a user based on the client certificate which will be installed on the client side browser.
    Issue:-
We have achieved the requirement for the browser IE. But for browser Firefox ,we are getting an exception "Class not found". Basically an applet class from the jar is not getting loaded on the Firefox.
Further investigating on this we came to conclusion that Firefox is not able to read the SSL certificate.
In order to eliminate this, we have imported the client certificate in java console as well. After this step, we were not getting "ClassNotFoundException" in FF. But right now, user is getting prompted for certificate/keystore password each & every time while trying to login onto the application (both in IE & FF).
So, we are trying to find ways to remove class not found exception without importing client certificate to java console. Also , is there any way to eliminate the authentication pop up for keystore (though we might not go for this approach as it will be very difficult to manage Java console for end users). Need your urgent help on this issue.
Attaching stack trace of both the browser and screenshot of keystore authentication pop-up . FF_Issue_stacktrace.docx is one when we were getting "class not found exception" and IE_Stacktrace.docx is one for successful case.

We have a similar set up where we have a web app and an applet in a JSP page. You have to put your applet classes up above WEB-INF. So, if your structure for your webapp was:
    tomcat/webapps/mywebapp
you'd want your classes under mywebapp instead of webapps/mywebapp/WEB-INF. In your case, if I read your package structure right, you'd want a Log directory under webapp that contains your LogApplet.class file.
I hope this works for you!

  • Shockwave Flash - Outdated Version

When I check my plugins through:
    https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
    I get this message:
    Potentially vulnerable plugins:
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32 Outdated Version
When I click on "Update" it sends me to:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Then, I click on "Download now" and it wants to install "Adobe DLM" (Download Manager) - but I get an error:
    Getplus+(r): error operating system error!

Thank you very much for that link!
The steps I took to resolve this problem:
    1. Uninstalling every Adobe/Macromedia Player I had installed + using uninstall_flash_player.exe from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    2. Removing every folder and registry key that is related to Adobe/Macromedia
    3. Doing a registry cleanup with CCleaner and Eusing Free Registry Cleaner
    4. Then I noticed that I still had "Shockwave Flash" in my Firefox Plugins list (which is weird because of all the cleaning I've done) so I checked about:plugins in Firefox and got to this folder:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Mozilla\plugins" and deleted the files: flashplayer.xpt + NPSWF32.dll.
    5. Then I closed Firefox and installed the Flash Player using this file:
    http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
And voila! the plugin was finally updated!

  • I get a recurring error in Firefox regarding Shockwave Flash not respoding, etc.  Firefox locks up.

I get a recurring error in Firefox regarding Shockwave Flash not respoding, etc.  Firefox locks up.  I've uninstalled & reinstalled Shockwave & Flash Player to no avail.  Can't find an answer (Windows 7).  Is there one that works?  I've looked quite a few places on the internet.

It seems you both did get lost and per accident ended in this place for last hope.
For Yammers Microwave I would say to pull out the power plug as the perfect solution but Shockwave Flash is a complete mystery to me.

  • Why is Firefox crashing? No error or reason is given. Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox/Shockwave/Flash does not help. I have no addons.

Firefox randomly closes every time I go to do something, like use Google or Yahoo (it will NOT close if I let it linger). It would also close immediately when I tried to use a hyperlink through Word. When I go to open it back up, it will say that it cannot restore the previous session and there are no crash ID's of any kind.
I have no addons or extensions, and thus they cannot be causing this. I've uninstalled/re-installed Firefox, Shockwave, Flash, and Java. I've wiped my cookies and history. Nothing works. My other two browsers, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, are working fine.
    What could be causing this?

You can try to do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Shockwave Flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding error. Can the Mozilla team fix this for Firefox 34?

Hello people, sometimes I would get the message "Shockwave Flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding". There is no way I can fix this. I have tried Google and they don't show tutorials on how to permanently fix this. What year is this? 2002? Not it's not. It's almost 2015. Can you please fix this for Firefox 34 or newer?

Shockwave Flash is an Adobe product - it's up to them to fix it. All we can do here at Mozilla Support is offer suggestions that have worked for us and other users.
    Have you tried Adobe Support?
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/flashplayer
Mozilla is working an a project code named Shumway - http://mozilla.github.io/shumway/ - that will play SWF files and eliminate the for having the Flash Player installed for Firefox.

  • Error  '"Shockwave Flash", but the plug-in failed to load successfully

Hi, some help please. I'm not very technical on macs so I need somebody to help with as much detail as possible. I use the browser Safari 1.3.2 but it will no longer display flash content, instead I get the lego box with a question mark in it and the error message '...“Shockwave Flash”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully'. I've checked some discussion threads but they are beyond my realm of comprehension - I am but a simple man in need of help. Please help. Please. Somebody...

    Hi neonhook,
First of all, Welcome to the  Discussion forums!
"I am but a simple man in need of help."
Trust me, there are a lot of us around here like that
If possible, I would suggest using a different browser such as Camino 1.6.4 or even Firefox 2.0.0.x (but keep in mind that Firefox 2.0.0.x will only be supported fully using 10.3.9 until mid-December 2008 and Firefox 3.0 is for OS 10.4 and above only.
Both Camino and Firefox can be customized to look and feel a lot like Safari and have many features that Safari 1.3.2 does not. I use Camino and find it faster and with no crashes due to flash web content etc. You'll be able to use sites such as Google Maps again, etc.
Safari for 10.3.9 is no longer being supported and to use a newer version of Safari you would need to upgrade your OS to at least 10.4 and above.
hope that helps some and post back with comments and questions,
    littleshoulders
PS. Please post back if any of the above information is too confusing as I do understand it can be.

  • Shockwave Flash, Firefox RC1, MSN Video

    Since installing Firefox 3 RC1, 3 b5, and 3 b4, MSN Video
crashes Firefox. I waited until Firefox was out of Beta but
unfortunately it still occurs with RC 1. I also cannot get MSNBC
videos to play but they do install and don't crash Firefox. I get
no error report in Firefox when the crash occurs. Other videos play
without problems. (You Tube, Google, National Geographic, AOL,
    etc.)
I uninstalled (Using Adobe uninstaller) and reinstalled
Shockwave Flash 9.0r124 just in case and that didn't solve the
    problem.
I am running a similar forum question on MozillaZine but the
only reply I received was from one of the moderators claiming it
    sounded like a Flash Problem.
    System - Dell Dimension 3000 XP SP3, 512 Ram, 160 GB HD,
Kaspersky Internet Security, Firefox is Default Browser
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Yea, I have Firefox set to do that every time it closes, but
I also did it manually just to make sure. Not quite sure where to

  • Shockwave Flash & Firefox 34.0

I just updated to Firefox 34.0, yesterday, and since then my Shockwave Flash add-on has crashed multiple times. The add-on is up to date, so there is no reason it should be failing so often. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm also having a problem with searching through Yahoo! Images that sometimes the outline inset/insert for the photo loads, but not the photo, itself. I'm not sure what the heck is wrong with Firefox's rendering of graphics. Just now, I had to end a session when my tabs I opened wouldn't close out.
Did my information for my system not post in the origainal post? I thought someone would have been able to tell me by now if I'm having errors with my graphic card or something it's compatible. Again, no other browser seems to be giving me this problem.

  • How do I set my default Shockwave Flash object viewer to Firefox 4 RC?

In the previous version of Firefox, I set it as my default Shockwave Flash viewer (these were offline objects) by selection the application in my program files.
When I upgraded to FF 4 RC, I was no longer able to view these files, nor was I able to find the application to default to (it was no longer in program files).
I tried setting the default viewer to the FF application located in Local Roaming but it won't appear in either the 'recommended' or 'other' when selected.
I can however still view these SWFs by clicking and dragging them onto the FF window. This isn't a major issue but I'd like to know if and how this can be fixed.
    Thanks

    # Open Windows Explorer.
    # Right-click a Shockwave Flash file (.SWF) and select '''Open with''' then '''Choose default program...'''
    # Click the '''Browse''' button in the lower right corner of the window and choose the Firefox executable. If you've installed Firefox in the default location, its path is ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe''

  • Why arent any videos working on my firefox browser? Youtube has an error message, and all other videos and ads come up with a blank white screen

It's one of those problems where it works like one minute, and then suddenly stops working the next. I know for a fact it has to do with the flash player in some way. I've had this problem before and found the solution, but for some reason i cant find it again, and forgot how i solved it. I've tried to redownload both adobe flash player and firefox but it didnt solve anything, disabling adblock doesnt help, disabling the hardware acceleration a little but useless difference, i have tried to disable the flash player add-ons and enabled them, both dont work, i only have 1 version of flashplayer( the most recent), and I am too frustrated to keep searching for an answer that is correct, when all i can find are the wrong ones over and over again . If anyone knows how to solve the problem where the FIREFOX(only) browser shows youtube as having the error " an error has occurred. Please try again later. " and all other videos and ads have a white blank screen, PLEASE help
also, everything works on google chrome and IE

also, the last solution i had didnt require me to install an earlier version of flashplayer or firefox, and it was the same problem
