Short X1 Carbon 1 month Review (its going back)

The X1 Carbon is a lovely design. Unfortunately it doesn't live up.
I got the model before the latest where they messed up the keyboard even more. Its the 3444CUU model loaded with touch, i7, 240gb, 8gb ram.
The Good:
Price $1500 with 3 year warrany. Lightweight, stylish, good build.
The Bad:
Native resolution is too small. I tried the Win8 reaolution thing. Helps a little.
A touchscreen is pretty much useless on a laptop. Never use it.
Screendoor effect from the Gorilla glass is very annoying.
Keyboard (typing this on my T410 since I keep making stupid mistakes on the new keyboard layout even after using it for a few weeks of coding. Awful awful for a touch typist. Annoying sharp corners palm rests, keys moved all over the place compared to the classic keyboards. I could get used to it but why bother.
Not upgradable (soldered RAM, etc.)

Classic keyboard like t410
14" 1280x800 IPS display
15" 1600x900 IPS but rotatated 90 degrees. Professionals don't sit around watching movies. We work on our laptops. A 16:9 screen stood on end is great for writing and reading.
More indicator lights.
If you instist on these ultra high DPI screens then make them scale better. Why should Windows handle this problem? Seems like a hardware scaling solution would be better.
Build it and we will come. Until then Ill keep the T410 spare parts sellers busy.

It sounds like you made a poor choice. But X1C is not a bad laptop, just not for you. Look at T440/440s?

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). Ipod is crap , enough is enough , its going back

this ipod is a load of crap , 4 days and always some problem,,
today , i had my music files on , then i added a music vid,, and then all my music files were now showing on music , and listed on videos, , so i decided to wipe it all off and try again ,, and then , the , do not disconnect , stayed, and stayed , and stayed,, so tried everthing to get rid of it ,, pressin the control,, eject, and the other stuff, nothing ,,, nothing would unlock it .. so then i get , itunes has encountered a problem,, so i remove itunes and re load it ,, 5 times , and 5 times i still get ,,, itunes has encountered a problem, ive even reset the pc to an earlier date , removed all itunes , and ipod ,, but as soon as i reload itunes, i get , itunes has encountered a problem,,, so thats it , its stuffed,, im taking it back , its a load of crap..

I had a few issues that the guy took down and supposedly input into the report on my problem, static on boot up, heat related crashing, techtools deluxe failing the video ram test.
Anyways I just reade my confirmation email. and it says

I found the "Unusually noisy: CPU/Unit"
the most interesting, since people had the screen whine fixed but the processor Idel whine had been downplayed as normal or at least that was the opinion I had formed from reading forums. When I complained about the screen birghtness issue it showed up as that.

There is a confirmed bug in ubuntu jaunty/karmic running on lenovo x200 series notebooks. Shortly, it sometimes hangs/freezes when goes back from sleep mode.

Trust me when I say this coming from 20 years of experience.
Get a powered external drive, format it 1 Partition Option: GUID and OS X Extended Journed as the format in Disk Utility.
Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone internal drive to external drive.
Set a schedule to remind you to do it at least once a week, keep it near your charger.
When you plug your charger in, do plug the clone and power the machine up, set the display to sleep only,
CCC will do the rest.
If you want to boot from it, hold the option/alt and select it Startup Manager.
I've seen many TimeMachine and TimeCapsule nightmares and so far haven't seen a problem from anyone using a bootable clone.
It's simple, it's easy, it's more reliable and more powerful than what Apple does and it only takes plugging in a extra cable.
Make as many clones as you want, keep them time seperated, off site etc. etc.
Cables don't have network issues, clones can be verified in seconds merely by booting from them.
Clones protect your productivity, your up in seconds on a clone despite even the hard drive dying.
Software problem? No sweat, boot of the clone and reverse clone your problems away.
If you want to fuss and muss with half implemented TimeMachine and TimeCapsule network headaches then prepare to suffer.
I don't like to suffer, I bought a Mac not to suffer, but it appears you do with TimeMachine and TimeCapsule.

Hi 1283ar.
Unfortunately, iOS 7 is too hard to push for the iPhone 4 and therefore has a lot of effects turned off to try to get it to run as smoothly as possible.
However, it becomes better and better with each update coming but it's hard to do anything about the hardware on an already released phones.
If you still have trouble or think they are too hard. My tip is, if so, to restore your iPhone 4 and make a clean setup with no iCloud backup. But all your photos in a photostream so you can access it later.

If you have not done a factory reset on the device, I recommend doing a complete factory reset.
Factory Reset - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.
This method will not erase any MDN/MIN information
Turn off the phone
Press Power + Volume Up/Down at the same time and hold until display will show a triage android screen
Display will show:
Reboot system Now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Use VOL Down key to scroll down to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", press home icon to select option and wipe device.
Display shows "All user data will be wiped out", press VOLUME Up to continue or VOLUME Down to exit.
Press Volume Up
Press Home to select "Reset System Now" - device will reboot
If the problem persist I recommend having a store technician take a look at the device.

I've found a new way .. I restart the phone manually. And it works. But sometimes , the Problem reappears and sometimes it doesn't . But when it does , its just too annoying. Therefore, restarting the phone manually is a temporary solution. But what's the permanent solution for it? Let's wait and hope that someone comes up with one.
And I hope this restarting hint solves your problem too.
P.S- instagram or any other app won't make a difference. That's what i think .. Cz I don't have that app on my iPhone.

Sounds as though your internet (like mine( is not fast enough for instant playback.
AppleTV need to buffer the video if internet speeds are below:
8 Mbps for 1080p
6 Mbps for 720p
2.5 Mbps for SD

Hello pls help, Why is my Iphone 4S saying its going to take over 15 hours to back up ?

My iphone 4S has never backed up in the 2 years that I have had it. I dont know how to save all the stuff off it so I can do an update and if I try to back it up it says its going to take over 15 hours to back up??
Please let me know what I need to do so that I can back up my stuff and update my software without losing anything.

Try the backup again. If still slow, i.e. more than 15 minutes, you likely have a USB problem.
