Shortcut to widen column doesn't work

Any shortcut for the "Grow Area" using the function name "Right Size This Column" (Select the vertical equals sign on the bottom right corner of a column and press the Control Key) doesn't work.
I restart after setting it. I use "Shift, Option, Command, Y" as the shortcut, Any thoughts on how to get this shortcut to work?

Finder show items in columns an item arrangement selected: Right size this column doesn't works

like the title says, under these condition (note that an item arrangement must be selected) the “right sized” to the maximum width, necessary to display the longest item in the column, doesn't works even with a double click or choosing "Right size this column" option (in both cases the column is set to the default size).
Anyone else experience this issue?

You understand me well, sorry I'm not native English.
Have you selected an item arrangement? if I select "None" it works for me too, the issue is when I select an item arrangement (arrange by Kind for example).
My setting:
Finder > View > Show View Options:
- Always open in column views: SELECTED
- Browse in column view: SELECTED
- Arrange By: Kind
- Sort By: Name
- Text size: 12
- the "three show" SELECTED
Under the above conditions I've the issue, the column isn't resized.

My Safari shortcut Cmd+Opt+B doesn't work. Please Help.

Hi fellow MacBook Pro Users,
My Safari shortcut Cmd+Opt+B, to show and hide all bookmarks doesn't work. The same shortcut is used in a third party app Scrivener and it doesn't work there too. I had a look at all my keyboard shortcuts listed in System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts and don't see the shortcut listed there. Also I checked my triggers in Quicksilver and didn't see the Cmd+Opt+B shortcut there too. Any idea how I can fix this? Had this issue for a long while now.

This issue may be resolved by installing the 10.6.8 v1.1 combo updater.

Unable to create an internet shortcut (simple process, but doesn't work)

There really aren't any details. The process just doesn't work & research suggests that it may well be browser related.

Make sure that you drag a valid link or favicon and not selected text on the desktop to create that shortcut.

Span column doesn't work for me?

Hey guys
I'm not sure if there's another question/thread about this issue I have. I've tried searching but didn't give me good results.
Basically, I've received an IND file from my client. The main heading paragraph style has span column (across all) setup already. But according to my client, for some reason, it doesn't work. I've tried fixing but I can't tell what caused it.
The main heading is a numbered-list heading. Would this cause the span column not working?
The setting is pretty straight forward, with span set to across all columns and space after span set to 15mm (space before is 0mm).
If I can get some direction to how to rectify this that would be fantastic because I've got a number of reports to typeset using this template.

Never mind. I figured out what was the problem.
It only works if all the text in one text frame with columns.

I've used a terminal command to change default send keyboard shortcut and now it doesn't work at all!

My friend provided me with a Terminal command allow me to use Cmd+Enter to send an email (muscle memory from Outlook, hard to forget!)
Command was:
defaults write com.apple.mail NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add "Send" "@\\U21a9"
Did that, and it didn't add the Cmd+Enter instruction but removed the Cmd+Shift+D instruction, so I had NO keyboard shortcut. Then Cmd+Enter started working. For a while. Now I'm back to getting the irritating error bleep sound, and having no functional keyboard shortcut for sending mail.
Does anybody have any advice?

defaults delete com.apple.mail NSUserKeyEquivalents
Then, relaunch Mail.

'Sort order column' doesn't work for prompt with function

I turned on the 'sort order column property' in repository for a logic column 'school year', so when I get school year from prompt, it shows desc order. It works fine if th colume in prompt is a simple prompt. But when I add function in the column in prompt (means edit Fx with a case statement), when school year prompt shows in dashboard, it is not sorted in desc order any more, it went back to acs.
Am I missing something, or this is a bug?
Another question, when I turn on 'sort order column property' in repository for a logic column, can I choose to desc on another column? I couldn't do it, and had to create another sorting column.

Cant you create this logic in the rpd and then apply order there and use the newly created column in your prompt..

with the interMedia sample code for:
"Faster Multi-column Text Searches"
Basically, after you have run the code
cdstore.sql as CTXSYS and granted CTXAPP
to whoever, you are now in a position to
create your concatenated datastore.
Once you have created your datastore, you
create your index, specifying a single
column and the datastore. Your queries to
this index will 'magically' search the full
list of columns in the datastore, even though
you only specify a single column in the
contains part of your query. V.Cool :)
This work for a while until (like I did) you
start to change some of your indexes. Then
when you run a simple query and you get no
rows back AT ALL. This is because your new
index hasn't created properly due to a bug.
You can check this out with the query:
select err_text from ctx_user_index_errors;
If your index is corrupt, you should see:
DRG-50857: oracle error in drsinopen
DRG-50858: OCI error: OCI_INVALID_HANDLE
This is due to the fact that a create
index statement will work only ONCE
in a given session. This is Bug #881851
You can patch this bug, or use 8.1.6 instead.
The current workaround, is to reconnect to
the database and recreate the index.

Bug - iTunes 5 - Postcasts - Sorting columns doesn't work

Podcast columns in iTunes 5.0 (34) do not sort. The only clickable column is release date, and nothing changes except for the arrow. Would be nice if the other columns were sortable as well.

Restrictions
Break Order has no effect on columns that belong to the lowest group of a particular query.
Break Order only affects columns in groups that are above the lowest child group of a query.
You have to add an "ORDER BY" in the SQL query in order to sort the columns belonging to the "lowest group"

ID CS3 - text wrap doesn't work at the end of a long multi-columned text frame

Did a search - don't think this specific issue has been addressed:
We design large graphics often used on walls. When working with a text frame that that was 11 feet long and had 8 columns, text wrap would not work on an image placed in the last column. The same image with the same text wrap applied will work fine anywhere else in the text frame. I found that if I shortened the width of the text frame a little bit at a time eventually it would work, but there doesn't seem to be a specific cut-off width - sometimes the last column won't text wrap when the frame is 115 inches wide and sometimes it doesn't work when the frame is only 80 inches wide. Again, all of the other columns work fine. I have tried all of the obvious stuff, the only variable between the columns that wrap and the one that doesn't is it's position at the end of the text frame.
We have gotten around this issue by using multiple threaded frames instead of one long frame with multiple columns, but I am curious if anyone else has run into this or might know what the issue is.

CMD+ any shortcut doesn't work in Safari after upgrading to Yosemite

After upgrading from Mavericks to OS X Yosemite 10.10 not a single CMD+ shortcut works?!
For example CMD+tab works (switching between apps), ctrl+tab works (switching between tabs), but none of these work: CMD+W, CMD+Q, CMD+F, CMD+C, CMD+X, CMD+P...
They all work perfectly fine in all other apps. It's just Safari.
Does anyone have any idea why and how to fix this?

I have a similar pb :
CMD+SHIFT+1,2,3,... doesn't work in safari.
I'm using "English interface" with "French keyboard".
following miladc advice and link (Shortcuts not working on Safari and Firefox),
I changed my Language pref to French ... so I got "French interface" with "French keyboard" ... and it worked once !!!!
But it works no more ... very weird

Command+1 shortcut doesn't work in iTunes 7?

During the years of having iTunes 5 & 6, I used to have those keyboard shortcuts like command+1, command+2 to show the main window of iTunes and Equalizer. This function is really helpful when you choose one song to play, then close the iTunes window to save the space on desktop, then use command+1 to show the main window of iTunes again when you need it. Really convenient.
But since I updated the iTunes 7 yesterday, I sadly found out that the key stroke combination of command+1 doesn't work anymore. Now every time when you need the iTunes window to show up, you have to click the iTunes 7 icon on the dock again. And same as the command+2 for equalizer. Since iTunes 7 erased the equalizer icon on the main pane in the corner right below, this is really not so fast as before to get those windows showed when you need them.
This issue is really unlikely to happen because I checked the new help topics of iTunes 7, there still are the entries of command+1/2 in the help topics, but they just do not work!!! Is that a new bug of iTunes 7?
Anyone has any idea about solving this problem? Or did anyone found the new keyboard shortcuts? Thanks in advance!!!

"Get Info" - new shortcut doesn't work

I'm trying to create a more convenient keyboard shortcut for "Get Info" on iTunes, since I use it a lot. I want to replace Command-I with F19 on a full-size aluminum Apple keyboard.
Using the Application Shortcuts I entered F19 as the new "Get Info" shortcut, and iTunes duly shows F19 on the menu; Command-I does not work any longer. So far so good - the problem is that it doesn't work on iTunes. It works in the Finder, I can invoke the Info window of a file that way now, but neither an universal All Applications shortcut or an iTunes specific one will bring up the information of a track, which is what I want.
Any ideas? This seems to be a genuine bug, since the menu is updated properly - it just fails to work.

Why do we have to install 2 add ins for something that should be built in? Please add this to the next version or an update to this one even. With the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
# close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
# check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
# if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
# check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
# At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
# When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
# Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.
